Tim: No! It’s a guy called Bernard.

Ever think about how Eliot is known - widely known, globally known - for violence? That he's killed and maimed countless people, sometimes with his bare hands? That hardened criminals, assassins, hear his name and are afraid? Ever think about how it must feel to have someone like Parker, who is fully aware of his past and everything he's capable of, get in his space and physically tease him and put stupid hats on his head like he's her own giant dress-up doll, with zero fear, zero hesitation? To be on the receiving end of that bone-deep trust, where it never even seems to occur to her that poking the beast could be dangerous?

I think about it a lot.

#i also think about the way Eliot yells at Parker and Hardison sometimes#because! he's so controlled! so soft-spoken! with everyone#because he knows he IS scary and dangerous. he keeps his demeanor so mild to put people at ease#but when Parker and Hardison get under his skin he shouts at them and shows his irritation#as if HE is trusting THEM to know that his anger will never ever come with violence. that he is never a threat to them.#he can let his guard down. he can be human. and cranky. and imperfect. he can be teased like a regular person.#i just wonder how it feels. to be seen as lovable and funny and playful and safe.#to be seen as a man after so many years of only being a weapon. Bruce Wayne at the circus, seeing a shocked eight year old little boy kneel on the ground in a puddle of his parents’ blood, and rushing from the stands to wrap him in his coat and carry him away. Bruce Wayne tucking the boy’s face into his shoulder and whispering as calmly as he can, “Don’t look. You’re going to be okay, I promise you’re going to be okay, just don’t look.”

Detective Gordon, watching as he walks by, being transported to twenty years prior when he was a rookie cop first on the scene for the Wayne murders and finding a shocked eight year old little boy standing in a puddle of his parents’ blood. Remembering how he wrapped his jacket around him and carried him away in a hurry, tucking his face into his shoulder and whispering, “Don’t look. You’re going to be okay, I promise you’re going to be okay, just don’t look.”

Gordon watching as the supposed playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne does everything he can to comfort Dick Grayson, this little boy from the circus he’s never even met before, because he knows exactly the kind of pain he’s going through in this moment.

Gordon realizing that his moment of panic when trying to get little Bruce Wayne away from his parents’ dead bodies had more of an impact than he ever could have imagined.

Bruce not letting go of him even when Jim tries to have him sit in the backseat. Bruce coming out of his shock with a shaking, rattling breath and a choked back cry. Jim whispering to him, “It’s okay if you cry. You can cry as much as you want, kid, I’m not going anywhere. It’s going to be okay.”

Eight year old Bruce letting out the most distressed sounding sob Jim has ever heard. Bruce gripping the shoulder of Jim’s shirt, crying out, “Mommy!” while Jim holds him tighter. Bruce trying to look back towards the alley, still calling for his parents, but Jim tucking his face back into his shoulder so he doesn’t see their bodies.

“Just don’t look,” Jim whispers.

It’s not lost on me how Jason is the only Robin to come from a life of poverty and crime, and is treated like a fundamentally broken monster in many comic books, given even less grace than Damian. “Something is not right with that boy” FUCK YOU DC. He was twelve years old. Him being slightly agressive because he knew, better than Batman or Nightwing or Barbara, how rotten Gotham was because he GREW UP in that environment did not make him evil or broken.

He just wanted to help people.

Losing my mind about how Jor-El wanted his son to take a harem of wives and repopulate the Kryptonian species, which was the exact same motivation that the movie gave Kara’s villain. Like, Jor-El didn’t specify that they should or shouldn’t be child brides, but he did say that Clark should take anything that he needed or wanted by force if necessary. They sent him to a place where he would have access to all of the power he needed to force a planet to its knees. Clark’s parents wanted their son to be like Krem. What a thing to wish for a baby.
