Green.

Aki didn't really know much about colors, the use of them, the theory behind them...things like that. It never really peaked his interest, and sure while there was some psychology behind these things, it wasn't the kind he was deeply passionate about.

But, he can tell almost right away just looking at this person that green suits them well. Honestly, beyond that, something about his presence just felt...calming? But not in an alarming sort of way. It was like how he felt on the walks he enjoyed so much.

( He wondered, if he was giving off a feeling like that too? )

"Man. This whole thing is treating you well, huh?"

Red.

It made sense for him, honestly. It was the color of his hair, his eyes, the clothes he liked to wear...plenty of things like that, that just pieced it all together. He didn't necessarily know if he'd call it his favorite color, though...and especially not in excess, like it was for him now.

Something, something...he was supposed to talk to other people? Honestly he wasn't really paying attention when all of everything was explained. But it made sense the first person he'd bump into would also be a shade of red, huh?

"So...what was the point of all of this again? We're supposed to talk or something to get more colors, right?"

" Ooooh.... "

A puzzle he says.... He hasn't really thought about it like that before. Guess that makes sense when there are strange things said to be happening around here. Like ...strange voices. Eiden hasn't caught any for now at least.

" ... I don't think it's something that'd be easy to solve. "

" Or more like... is it safe? Are you a fightertype...? "

"That's what's fun about it! Where's the excitement in a mystery that's solved quickly?"

"I'm not! I mean, I have a weapon if I need one, but I probably shouldn't."

Right? Right. There definitely wasn't anything dangerous about wandering into mysterious woods with creepy and weird rumors and potentially wacky creatures.

"Besides, I go hiking and camping often. I'm sure I can navigate here fine."

the color of life, flowing through your veins. the color of love, embracing you in it's gentle hold. the color of guilt - pouring out over your hands, staining them. a fire burning too bright, too fast. it's a number of things, all with its own meaning.

...personal use, he says. Eiden doesn't know if he should correct him but guess he isn't ... entirely wrong either.

" You know your stuff... And uh, you're here for a walk? Or just exploring? "

Uh oh. Did he say something weird? That was kind of an awkward response but...it's moved on from quickly, so he doesn't linger much on that concern.

"Bit of both! This forest's kinda like...a weird puzzle, you know?"

Hm. Maybe that wouldn't make sense, though. Most people probably wouldn't wander into a forest rumored to be alive and full of mystery just with the goal of 'figuring it out'.

"Like...all the places that are rumored about in here. Finding them and studying them."

"Interesting...?" He looks up, murmuring as he processes that the young man with the red hair is looking at him. Looking back down at his own book International Aspects of Vampirism and Vampiric-Like Nature, he looks back up.

"The person I'm studying is interesting, but this book isn't so much. It really just goes more into legends and rumors." He smiles, as though studying a person is not nearly as strange as it sounds.

"He's definitely not a vampire, but he won't confirm or deny it. He's funny like that." This is the correct way to be social, yes? He assumes so, at the very least. "How about you?" Correct - ask the other person what he's there for.

"Vampires...?"

Those were...monsters from old books. A type of creature commonly brought back in all sorts of media, from what he gathered. Aki wasn't much for novels - he liked reference books much more - and he didn't really watch television or play games either, but from coworkers and patients alike he had heard a lot about vampires.

And, well...he couldn't deny that here they were much more than things out of works of fiction.

"Well, doing research is the best way to find anything out! You're already way ahead of the game. Even if it's just rumors, it still gives you more information than you had before." That's how he saw it, anyways. Plus it was sort of fun to hear about all sorts of rumors then seek out the truth on your own. "I'd agree people are more interesting in the end though."

"Ah, me? Guess I'm looking to branch out from my usual types of books. Asking around is the best way to do that, don't you think?"

Eiden whines a little. He won't take it to a stranger though not even playfully. It's just a sketch so no great damage's been done anyway.

" Ahh, it's fine. It's not something that'll be on a display anyway... "

Not in this form anyway.

" Ehh, well, just a change of scenery for some inspiration? "

"Still, it's your art. Even if it's for personal use..." (Which, it looked like it was?) "...I feel bad about ruining it."

Well, maybe not that bad. He didn't seem too bothered by it, so that meant Aki didn't have to feel too bad about startling him in the first place.

"Hey, nature's a great place for that at least! There's a lot of studying showing the positive effects it has on the mind, so I'm sure it boosts creativity a ton too."

"Hm?" Quentin looked up from his careful survey of the many taffy flavours in what was essentially a repurposed beer keg. He'd been leaning over to make sure he wasn't just imagining the alcoholic tang to the wooden container, though now he rose to his full height.

Cocking his head to the side, he asked the other man, "Weird place for a pick-up line, but I'll excuse your choices for now."

He picked up a random taffy in its wrapper and tossed it over to the stranger. Without waiting to see if he caught it, Quentin leaned back against the taffy keg and crossed his arms over his chest. "Tell me what that tastes like. I'm thinking this shop's a front for some money laundering, considering the weird ass flavours they claim to make. That or they're out of it, thinking 'troll's stew' is an identifiable taste."

"Oh! No, sorry, I didn't mean to come off like I was hitting on you."

Aki laughs and shakes his head a little. He hadn't even thought about it that way, but he can see how it might've come off that way. Not a lot of people were that interested in randomly striking up conversation with others. But while people watching was fun, why wouldn't you wanna hear from the people themselves?

He fumbles when the piece of taffy is thrown at him, managing to catch it after a bit of struggle. A weird flavor? A money laundering front? Wasn't that a big jump...? Didn't a lot of oversea places like to do gimmicky shops like this where things tasted bad on purpose? He could've sworn he had heard of a jellybean brand that did that...

"Troll's stew? Is it supposed to have a meat flavor or something?"

Well...as picky as he was, he didn't mind at least testing it out.

Sometimes Eiden missed the Wooden Territory - most of all its' certain occupants but also as much as he was more of a city boy Eiden liked nature all the same. When the inspiration wouldn't hit it was nice to sit down on a mossy rock like this to get your thoughts in order.

It's not a place you expect company aside animals and the rumored disembodied voices. Somebody popping from behind his back is the last of the things that Eiden expects.

Focus breaks and Eiden almost slips from the rock - his pen ends up straying drawing thick line across the page of a vague fruitshaped start of an adult toy.

" DUDE you gave me a fright!! "

He jolts lightly, moving to see if he can help support the other when it looks like he's going to fall off the rock...but thankfully, it looks like he's able to catch himself. The sigh of relief at that quickly turns into a small laugh, however, when he lifts his arms up as a sign of apology.

"My bad, my bad! I didn't mean to scare you."

And he definitely didn't mean to ruin his drawing either, he notes as he notices the line that's been marked across the page. Whoops. Hopefully that'd be easy to fix?

"I just didn't expect to see anyone else out here, let alone someone drawing."

Window shopping wasn't always his favorite thing, but...he managed to find a stretch of shops that changed his entire opinion on the matter! Sweets stores, as far as the eye could see. A good variety too! He'd have to do more than just window shop after seeing everything there was...

But it looked like he wasn't the only one looking everything over. Learning other people's preferences was always fun, so...

"Anything catching your eye?"

He could stay in this library forever, if he was given a choice. Thousands upon thousands of books made their home here, and while a lot of them were so old and worn they could not be read any more...just as many had interesting texts hidden inside. Last time he was here, he had found an interesting book about the local flora.

This time, it seemed like he wasn't the only one looking for something new to read.

Aki wasn't much for music. Back in high school - back before the facility - it used to always surprise his classmates that he wasn't up to date with the latest idol groups, stars, and popular overseas songs. Listening to music had just never been something he was interested in.

But...he still finds himself stopping on the street with a small group of people, listening to a young-looking girl play her guitar. He didn't know much about music, but she was pretty good! Maybe he'd stick around until she was done to ask about it...

The Mistwood was...an interesting place! Aki was always looking for more spots to explore, a place to get a good hike in, but maybe the mist here was a bit too strong for that. And a bit...weird. The forest didn't make total sense, but that was just a pattern to figure out, right?

But it didn't seem like he was the only one out and about exploring these woods. It wasn't long walking around before he spotted someone with a sketchbook nearby. Most people would probably leave them alone and walk by without saying anything -- but Aki Maeno was not most people.
