That's a wrap on Zexal Week, friends!

This week was such a blast! I'm really sad to see it come to an end, but that just means Zexal Month (@zexalmonth, for those of you just hearing about it!) is around the corner!

As always, I'll be looking through the "Zexal Week" and "Zexal Week 2022" tags sporadically for any posts that couldn't make it during the set week! So for those of you afraid I'd only reblog things during the 7 day period, don't worry! I know content creation takes time/life gets in the way/inspiration is fickle/etc!

Also, this blog's askbox and DMs will remain open, for any thoughts/concerns/suggestions y'all might have! c:

Thank you all for indulging this blog, I've been so happy to see the community sorta flock around each other this week. I haven't been on Tumblr in a hot minute personally, so it felt like a reunion party to me 😂 I hope you all had as much fun seeing and interacting with everyone as I did, and hope this year's Zexal Week was as fun as years past!

(Since taking up Zexal Week, I've kinda wanted to do a late fall/early winter version of Zexal Week (be silly and call it Zexal Week II) as sorta like an end of the year celebration, but kinda always decided against it at the last minute. Would that be something y'all would be interested in?)

Regardless, thank you all again for spending time with one another this week! The Zexal community has always had a special place in my heart, as does the show itself, and I'm glad there as those here we can all share that sentiment with!

I think it's valid to reblog Zexal things if u don't feel like that's gonna clutter the blog, considering the amount of ppl producing Zexal things on tumblr is very small atm. And hey, who's gonna complain about having their art featured on a event blog???

This was about the post I reblogged that i couldn't tell if it was specifically for ZW or not, right? Thanks for your supportive words, I always get a lil anxious about running this event blog. Its the only one I've ever run, and I only took it over in 2020, after seeing the previous ZW blog deactivated.

OP saw my tags and said that while their post wasn't specific to Zexal Week, that it was totally ok to have the post on the blog, which does add to what you've said about people not being upset about their content on an event blog. I just second guess alot cuz I don't wanna inconvenience/upset anyone, yanno? >w>;;

But perhaps next time Zexal Week is held I'll go ahead and reblog non Zexal Week related content a little more? Both to try and get more of peoples's content shared, and to draw more of what remains of the Zexal community?

I'm absolutely open to taking opinions/suggestions/thoughts from everyone tho!

As today is a free day, I thought I'd introduce myself and show off my son!

My name is Wren and I've seen all of Yugioh up through the first part of Arc V. GX and Zexal are my favorites so far, and I'm so happy to be part of this community!

The amount of talent in the Yugioh Fandom never ceases to amaze, and if anyone is hosting ANY more events like this feel free to tag me ❤.

I draw, cosplay, and do custom doll creations like the Mizar I'm holding above.

Mizael is one of my favorite characters in this show and he looks like something I would design myself. I love his voice, his backstory, his devotion for dragons….. He is gorgeous

Its the last day of Zexal Week, friends!

I just wanted to say I'm so happy to see not just the different content people have created, but the comments left in tags and reblogs of people's posts, sharing what they've done! This community, even if its grown a little smaller each year, has always held a special place in my heart for its kindness and positivity (and shitpost memes. I fucking love Zexal shitpost memes)!

For those like myself who've been here since the beginning of Zexal, or at the very least for a little while now, its great to see you all again! For those who've recently got into Zexal or whose first time it is taking part in Zexal Week, I'm so glad to have just gotten to meet you over the past week!

Thank you all for having fun with this little community week! I can't wait to see what this last day brings! Kattobingu, y'all c:

There’s not a lot I can say about Anna that I haven’t said about the other zexal girls because she suffers from the same problems as they do and she has the added problem of having a bad case of tsundere.

Her personality is definitely less trigger-happy. Anna Kaboom is an alias she gave herself so that her parents wouldn’t find her easily. The Bazooka on her back is not dangerously explosive and is more of a really extravagant paint gun. Anna Kaboom is a girl of many talents. She’s a creative guerilla artist, a talented mechanic, and fan of general pandemonium. Anna is a very passionate person and likes to be independent, but always comes to the aid of true friends.  

Anna’s story in the redesign is that she came to the WDC to compete and be able to have control over her life and express herself despite others’ opinions of her. She ran away from home and wants to do the thing she loves freely.  It’s then that she meets Yuma Tsukumo and the gang. After hearing her backstory during a duel, Yuma decides to help her out and lets Anna crash into his garage where she does automotive tune-ups and other mechanical stuff for the Tsukumo family.

Zexal week day 4: Pride! @zexalweek

I decided to do my own prompt! Since day 4 was on the beginning of pride month, I decided to share a headcanon of my #1 favorite character from Zexal, Yuma! I headcanon him as bi and polyamory! Happy pride month everyone!!! And as a little bonus, I drew a doodle of my favorite ot3 of him, Shark/Yuma/Trey!

@zexalweek Day 6 is Call to Attention!

A day to give some love to characters we wish could’ve gotten just a little more screen time. Kaze will always be this character for me. His introduction episodes were so entertaining, and all his little cameos up until the end always make me smile! GO NINJA BOY GO!

I really liked how the sketch for this turned out, so I went with a simple digital overlay for the colors this time around.

wish they had explored more with evil/corrupted Astral, Dark Zexal and Zexal II and that they all appeared more too. It’s such a waste of potential. Also wish they could have done Zexal transformations with other characters (i.e: Yuma and Number 96, or Yuma, Astral and 96, even the Barians too)

Rio’s design is my favorite in all of the YuGiOh franchise. I loved the way she looked she was very elegant and most of her design elements came together harmoniously. Except for the fact that it really does feel like, at certain points, that she’s only Sharks sister. like that her blue hair and water-themed names (Rio and Marin) make her feel like an extension of Shark and not really her own person.

For the redesign, I decided to make her more ice-themed and gave her light blues and cool soft tones. I also wanted to actually show her burn scars because I’m not a coward who prefers pretty over realism. Anyways, I also wanted to make her more preppy to contrast Shark. 

She has the same personality as in canon but with a different design. She’s a confident and ambitious young woman who wants to live her life to the fullest. The trauma of the fire may hang heavy in her mind but she’s got what it takes to deal with it. 

Storywise, she’d probably appear the same way she did in canon and actually have an impact on the story in some way. She becomes the mom of the group and most of the underclassmen look up to her. She has a secret power and it ties to barian world. If she were to accept she were barian, She’d become Marin, the high priestess of Barian world and the sword of the Emperors. She is not going to hide in anyone’s shadow.

hoooooooly shit i rushed this one cuz i saw @zexalweek ’s day 5’s prompt: retro like on tuesday and i had to do something for it bc god FORBID i miss this one window of opportunity to get my hand drawing. BUT HEY! it came out pretty nice i think!!

retro!!!! i dressed the keybs in 1940s fashion cuz i had the idea to dress the two up based on the musical hello dolly! months ago. hello dolly! itself was a 1964 musical, but was based on the merchant of yonkers (1938) and its rewrite the matchmaker (1954). so.. 40s it is..

also in an earlier draft, i washi taped astral for fun. it was too time consuming to do for the whole thing but i thought it looked nice enough to share <33

Zexal week day 2: Pranks War! (Eh not really a war)

@zexalweek​ Day 5 is Retro, which is definitely a theme I can get behind!

I love older anime series (considering all my childhood favs are considered old nowadays…) and one of my favorites of all time was recently added to the Retrocrush streaming service. I thought it’d be a good chance to draw Zexal’s three main boys as one of my favorite promo images from it!

So, here is Shark, Yuuma and Kite as Bad Luck from Gravitation!
