When I tried to make Miela (the protagonist of my monster hunter fic) in Wilds, I also made her mum. Miela (on the left) is short and looks much softer than she shoots, while her mum is tall and looks harder than she talks. At the same time I imagine them having nearly the same faces, so when people do see them together it clicks immediately! These are my screens from Wilds of what they both probably look like, both at the ages when they fought their dragons (♥ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:・ﾟ✧

Two things:
First, it's such a weird feeling, knowing that for some people my story is an ongoing project, all while for me it's been an undefinable number of rereads already. I wish I could read my own story for the first time! (灬º‿º灬)
Second, the Ellipsus' merge drafts feature is always such a reality check for me whenever I go back to thinking that I wasn't really doing much, not working nearly hard enough on my edits, why is my mind suddenly so blurry and can't see or fix anything in the text?..
Figured out why I couldn't send media from my switch.
Anyway, my mh rise replay with a gs is going well.
Everyone has their own favourite npcs in Wilds. I guess won't hurt to share mine.
There must be a fan club for her, right? No? Well, anyway, I love Apar.
Pros of being a very defensive player: can survive even with poor gear, didn't know what armour spheres were until behemoth when I played monster hunter world as my first mh, and I fared well. I've paid for my 50min per quest and I will use all those 50min, damn it! Cons of being a very defensive player: this quest! It does require aggression, and I can't keep it up for more than five minutes straight, I immediately start being picky about which openings to punish (all, I have to punish all of them), I just loiter around the monster and watch it attack the air whenever I can. Occasionally might forget that I'm on a timer and pick up my tea (although, of course, hydration is important.) By the time Arkveld appears (usually around ~30min mark) I barely understand what I'm doing entirely, just blocking, running and occasionally swinging back. Love it though, despite how spongy arkveld is (so far I've consistently got through the other three monsters with few or no carts, then I time out on arkveld). I've only tried it a few times so far, and I think I can do it, if I actually put my mind to it. But it's okay if I don't do it either, there're only so many hours in the day after all, can't do everything.
I'm replaying monster hunter rise on switch because sunbreak was on sale there, and, damn, I forgot this little piece of story.
Spoilers for the vanilla rise story final boss in the hub quests, as well as the photos of screenshots because switch refuses to send them to my phone, and I'm too lazy to open the steam version of the game atm.
URGENT tip for newbie hunters!
The Hunter's Guild Association doesn't want you to know this!
If you're far away from the base camp and can't find a safe camping spot, search for the nearest espinas in your area! Obviously, if your region has any of them at all. Due to how thick and poisonous they are, nothing can hurt them, so most monsters will avoid disturbing them. Neither can you really wake them up by snoring nearby yourself. So, grab your antidotes, wrap yourself into the toughest sleeping bag and snore away! Legit thing, trust me, safest way to nap in the wilds ever! Even if they wake up, hunters aren't usually on the menu, so you can just be back on your sleepless journey.
Makes you wonder, when a hunter is sleeping, do they attract endemic life as well, like a fairy tale princess?
Poor arkveld can't catch a break
I'm way too excited about monster hunter, so let me ask you an absolutely normal question.
If you lived in the Monster Hunter universe, who would you be?
Hunter, duh.
Cart felyne, to pull hunters out of khezu.
Palico, to save hunters from khezu.
Prowler, still a felyne, need no hunter.
Melynx, need no hunter, need no Guild, only your tribe and your wits.
Smith, making the best hat out of that garuga stomach.
Doctor, for all the people who get poisoned, dismembered or burned.
Melder, whatever it is they do with their pots.
Trader, travelling, connecting the world.
Fisher, those plesioths are begging for the hook.
Cook, what would we even do without cooks?
Receptionist, those uniforms are fabulous.
Not enough answers to fit Handler and Researcher, so if you'd rather be those, you'll have to comment or repost with an answer. Same if you want to be of a different species, like a human in a melynx tribe or a wyverian pulling the cart with a fainted hunter.

I understand why we've got no melynxes, but how did we manage to not get any doctors! Stay safe, people, because the only doctors in monster hunter that I remember are Tadori and Zenchi from Rise. I guess, if a max potion can't heal it then not many things will? Then again, can you heal wounds with a potion if your digestive system gets damaged? Hm.
Have never really drawn monsters before, but here we are! Please, welcome my OC monster – Malastralumo, Malodorous Snake Wyvern, Embodiment of Misery.
A snake wyvern, it has got an elongated body and four limbs, but it is often reported to have only two limbs and a forking tail: the hind legs evolved into the toeless appendages that are nonetheless rather nimble and are used to smear the dung all across the tail. It can be simple dung, or it can be infused with the remains of Malastralumo's dinner. The dexterous tail can then be used to smack the offender or even sling the dung all over the place. When especially threatened, Malastralumo might sling the quills porcupine-style, but it is rare to see them do it: they need those quills for mating displays! Their breath is just as disgusting, and the tip of their nose is very similar to that of a star-nosed mole. Their main source of food is mushrooms, and they occasionally eat various rocks, although there is no consensus yet on what they gain from eating rocks. Their main habitats are volcanic areas and deep underground caverns. Generally very shy and clever, they avoid all wyverns and beasts, including humans. If bothered, they usually simply smack the offender with their stinky tail and flee. One exception to this rule is when they're being forced out of their nest. Their nests consist mainly of dried up manure that they gather for years, and they might even risk their lives to protect it. If their nest is destroyed, they become irritable, aggressive, and attack everything on sight until they find a place for a new nest. If being stinky and irritable isn't enough to dissuade the attackers, it has got one final trick up its quills: it will retract its fleshy nose and dive deep into the mountains, cover their body and quills in lava and sling hot rocks at their foes at speeds that rival most powerful bowguns. Unfortunately for them, this also makes their hide more vulnerable to all sorts of injury, and their eyes may get damaged by the extreme temperatures if they are not careful.
Eh, I wish I could delete kudos that I get from the scammers. And I wonder how much of the queue for the invitations is filled with these people, took me a while to get mine a year or so ago.

This is Amber, she's a character from a Monster Hunter fic of mine. She's in her seventies, and she's very grumpy. She's also a very good hunter in her own right, not just a palico. Prowler, one might say. She may be past her prime, but she can still solo most of the usual high rank quests.
