you know, i wouldn't be surprised if furina gets her "redemption arc."
to be completely transparent, i didn't like furina one bit during the previous archon quests. i just didn't like gods who seemed like they aren't responsible enough to lead their own people. i really should've kept more attention using my own ideas rather than being influenced.
all that aside, i'm actually convinced that her character as the so-called "dumb, bratty, and too carefree archon" image will be completely changed in the future archon quest. and more so, maybe there's nothing to be redeemed at all because there is absolutely nothing wrong about it. there has to be something more with all that has happened and there has to be a reason behind furina's actions.
and i think the archon quests were framed in a way that it forces us to see things in a limited point of view, forcing us to believe a certain narrative and not allowing us to think outside the box.
hope i could write this one tomorrow, right before the update just to see if this proves to be true. the 4.2 update will surely be interesting.
this is a very dangerous passage; what if people started thinking about trying to use visions as a source of energy since it can be used to channel elemental energy and is powered by a person's will?
ā from rene's investigation notes
it doesn't really help that fontaine is facing a huge power crisis right now. š¤·āāļø
currently writing a fontaine-related lore essay and now my brain is just exploding. holy, genshin's writers are on the next level. there's literally fontaine lore since mondstadt era and it even stretches to sumeru. and it's all consistent, too! now this is great planning and world-building.
i had to open my long forgotten account just to re-do some quests. this is really exciting :D
i like to think that dilucās gloves play a greater role than just heat protection from his daily andĀ knightlyĀ duties.
note: this post was originally posted on jan. 9, 2023.
dilucās default skin is his chosen outfit for his nobleman duties, for when heās out to do his obligations and responsibilities as the current head of the ragnvindr family, the master of the dawn winery. on the other hand, his alternate skin āred dead of nightā is a modified version of his uniform from when he was still under the knights of favonius. he wears this mainly during his vigilante work.
both skins represent the two current and main sides of dilucās identity: diluc as the ragnvindr heir, and diluc as the darknight hero.
the bases of his clothes are quite similar (a coat, vest and shirt, pants, and boots), just in different colors. but what stood the most for me is the detail of his gloves.
dilucās glove for his red dead of night skin is fully black. on the other hand, on his default skin, the top side of the glove is black while the palm side of the glove is fully red.
this made me wonder since plain colored gloves are most common to use when it comes to formal attires and yet diluc chose at two-colored pair instead of a plain black or red one. i began to revisit some of dilucās lore from events and voicelines out of sheer curiousity.
during the hidden strife event, diluc has stated that he only kept letters from the past in case they prove to be useful in the future, and yet he has kept (and have recently read) kaeyaās letters from the said past, even when some of those letters were only out of kaeyaās concern for him.
diluc also kept kaeyaās compensation gift even if it doesnāt match the mansionās interior.
during the weinlesefest, the traveler asked him regarding the voice from the wine bottle, that of which he responded with the following statement [regarding his late father].
connecting all of these together, one could conclude thatĀ diluc knows the definition of the past and lives it through, but that doesnāt stop him from being sentimental about it.
diluc has a complex character which is sometimes (or maybe often) left unnoticed with all the running gags about his deadpan stare and remarks about kaeya and the knights of favonius.
he got his old uniform re-modeled for the sake of nostalgia but using it instead in accomplishing his newfound resolve after three years of solitary sojourn in search for the truth.
in his vision story, it was explicitly stated that as much as he doesnāt talk about his past, he also doesnāt deny it. he acknowledges that his past is a part of his present.
in this sense, iām inclined to think that dilucās gloves couldāve been his own way of remembering what his hands have committed during those years of his raging anger and loss, thatĀ his hands are both stained and that cannot be changed even under the guise of nobility and fame; it could be his way of admitting that his persona as the master of the dawn winery and the vigilante darknight hero arenāt two separate entities, but rather his acceptance that both personas, as well as his past self and deeds, are all part of the diluc ragnvindr that he is today.
note: to be clear, the part about the purpose of his gloves is a headcanon. however, the analysis itself is my conclusion from the dialogues, events, and voicelines stated.
i had no one to take pictures with so i resorted to photoshop. i actually have a version of this including kaeya but iām not satisfied with it to iām retaking it once iām not too busy.

the case of the āprayerā recited by samiel kinda reminds me of the grand thief that died while praying during dainās archon quest. maybe itās a coincidence but maybe they could be related, too.
interactions of yoimiya and the traveler regarding childe during the āoutside the canvas, inside the lensā event have caused an uproar, especially on twitter. although most may argue that the traveler is being too harsh on childe, i do think that it may also be justified given that childe being a good big bro doesnāt make him any less of a morally-grey antagonist.
ps. this post was originally posted on nov 22, 2022.
iāve watchedĀ asterāsĀ analysisĀ on childeās persona, and it couldnāt have been worded better. childeās big brother side isnāt childeās redemption arc and/or full personality, rather it is an extension to his overall character.
childeās personality is very complex to the point that even the traveler has some mixed thoughts on his actions. if there is one thing that the traveler understands most about childe, itās his love for his family, and the rest is in sort of a blur.
i think one thing the people often forget about childe is that he is as power-hungry as the other harbingers. itās just that childe chooses to be upfront and honest about it rather than be scheme-y. he likes the idea of showing his full potential in a fair fight rather than using underhanded tactics. but all this honesty doesnāt mean that he canāt be hostile when he has to.
during the event, even yoimiya has stated that while she acknowledges his goodness by standing as a big brother in front of the kids, she still remains vigilant in case childe tries to pull something. what more with traveler who has personally witnessed childe in action? especially when childe has never showed any signs of regret about his actions as a harbinger. during the liyue archon, childe himself admitted that there is no way someone like him is to be trusted since he is a harbinger. he knows full well what his duty as a harbinger entails.
in conclusion, childeās personality isnāt a choice between a good brother or a power-seeking harbinger but rather a mixture of both. he is both of these two. while the traveler can trust childeās instincts as a good brother who wants whatās best for his siblings, the traveler can also be wary about childe if weāre talking about his work as a harbinger.
p.s. of course, this doesnāt excuse the fact that the traveler almost revealed childeās true identity in front of the children, given that childe is theĀ defender of childhood dreams. i was also taken aback by this and wished that the traveler couldāve at least talked to yoimiya in private.
