cultural appropriation is definitely not the correct term for it but i genuinely GENUINELY feel something like that when people associate capybaras with Japan, I know that this is probably cus south America has overall very little influence on like general worldwide culture or what not but it is infuriating how their actual native region doesn't even show up on the suggested search.
and how so many "cute capybara art" is them in Japanese hot springs under cherry blossom drinking macha or some shit. it pisses me off . carpinchos/ capybaras are native to south america.
real carpinchos drink mate
Actually been dying to draw Fern
we need to bring back gamefaqs. i don't wanna join your stupid discord. i don't wanna use your ugly shitty fandom wiki. i don't wanna have to dig through poorly-organzied reddit threads. we want bespoke ascii header art! we want plaintext documents and guides with minimal clutter that are properly indexed and easy to navigate!
*lesbian dirty talking* I have a car
media literacy is when fan creators cater to my specific kinks and fetishes. media illiteracy is when people make character playlists and put hayloft on them
"Coca-Cola made an AI ad!"
"McDonald's releases AI Christmas commercial!!"
Don't care didn't ask plus here's a beautifully animated ad for a French supermarket that was made by actual artists
Omg! The Chinese room!
current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.
someone brought a cake analysis robot to feed the cake into to determine the exact ingredients and supposedly it can spit out the exact same cake. and if you're like dude. what. then they're like well if it bothers you you should have made more cake. i'm hungry and i deserve cake. and you're like dude we're at a party.
Three months later you find out that fifty people locked themselves in a room to discuss how much they loved your cake and how they wished you made more. None of them ever told you.
so for the love of god. please tell people you liked their cake and don’t feel embarrassed about it. because then they will make more cake.
im sorry but when you grow up and interact with people irl youre gonna have friends where you dont fw their tastes. sometimes youre gonna meet someone chill whos also a hazbin hotel fan or have a really nice coworker that likes taylor swift and youre gonna need to mind your business and shut the fuck up or youre gonna be real lonely
"You were either hurt by a Nesta or you were Nesta and that is how you perceive the book"
OR MAYBE YOU CAN SIMPLY EMPATHIZE WITH CHARACTERS AND SEE MULTIPLE POVs AS YOU READ, LIKE ANY NORMAL PERSON SHOULD BE ABLE TO!!
Seriously, have we reached a social media narcissism complex that is so bad that anything and everything needs to revert to us?? Have we, as a society, completely lost the ability of trying to understand different points of view and/or analyzing things from a detached view without having to self-insert 100% of the time. And ofc everything, including the characters you like, will always be biased. BUT it's just worrying when people are not able to perceive a story from any other angle that isn't an overly personal extension of themselves
I'll join you in celebrating platonic and familial relationships if you keep the "romance inherently makes a story worse" far away from me. I am allergic.
One reply that I get to this post is the problem is not romance, but relationships that are given the shortcut of they're in love in lieu of a well-written dynamic. Which I agree with and concede, and I want to submit the same thing happens with found family dynamics.
I call them "Bring Your Own Feelings" relationships. They're not going to sell the characters feelings for each other to you, they're counting on you projecting.
#if i have to see 'romance would diminish their relationship' one more time (via @a-heart-of-kyber)
re the replies: that's just weak/lazy writing--which can apply to anything. The anti-romance stuff is, always has been, and always will be nonsense.
hey guys not sure if any of you relate but personally ive been really big into stories lately. characters, even. i find myself impacted by fiction. yeah. that made-up stuff. this is just one brief look into my sick and twisted mind
