Non scale victories
Today, I've been at my job nearly seven months and three coworkers have commented about me looking thinner.
My bloated PMS self is currently feeling quite flattered 😊

Non scale victories
Today, I've been at my job nearly seven months and three coworkers have commented about me looking thinner.
My bloated PMS self is currently feeling quite flattered 😊
Update May 2018
Non scale victory: I went into a store and found pants that fit in the regular size section. It was the largest size, but still. I bought two pairs.
Bad start to my cleanse?
I decided to avoid dairy and gluten this month hoping to get to the root of my digestive issues.
Roommates made new year's dinner: honey baked ham (1.5 oz), canned mustard greens (.5 cup), canned black eyed peas with bacon (.5 cup), packaged salad mix (1 cup). I added a tablespoon of sriracha to the mustard greens. Had two glasses of water with dinner. I didn't have any crescent rolls or the ice cream they got for dessert.
Not ten minutes after eating, I feel terrible. I've never had canned greens or pass before- could it be those? I normally eat quite low fat and I don't regularly eat meat- could it be the sugary ham or the bacon? I'm really not feeling good at all. Anyone else have a digestive reaction to any of these foods?
Need yoga recommendations!
I'm slowly but surely growing past the beginner yoga phase in terms of my flexibility and strength, so I'm looking for youtube or tumblr resources to help me learn intermediate poses.
I need to learn new things that challenge me and also prepare me for more advanced yoga down the road. Ideally, I'd like to find a resource that explains good posture and alignment along with a full workout rather than just still images of a pose.
I know this is a lot to ask for, but if anyone knows of a resource I feel like I'll find it on the internet first.
Also, I'm doing Cassey Ho's reset challenge to help me figure out where my digestive problems are coming from. Anyone else?
Gonna ditch the scale
My attempt at maintaining without weighing went so well I think I'll continue. Without weighing it calorie counting, I stuck to the diet better because I didn't sad-eat over a slight gain or celebration-eat after a slight loss. I'm too emotionally attached to the numbers still, so I think I'll ditch the scale.
I'm not gonna track every day because I have a pretty streamlined diet now. Instead, I'll track and weigh three days a week to make sure my portion sizes aren't creeping up.
One size down, feeling great.
Non Scale Victories
I've been a bit obsessed with weighing myself lately so I decided to take a few weeks off from the scale. But over the past month scale free, maintaining a 400-500 calorie deficit, I've noticed things fit differently. I don't expect a huge scale difference when I do weigh again because I've also been building muscle, but my body composition is definitely changing. My pants are falling off, my size large pajamas that were tight when I got them are loose on my thighs. My tummy doesn't pooch over my waistline. My face looks slimmer. I can't feel my back rolls anymore. My underwear fits more comfortably.

Tell me I'm not the only one!
I went for my weigh in yesterday and my weight was up. Not much, just about a pound. But my pants don't close easily and I feel super bloated.
And then I got a notification. My period is coming.
This happens every month and it's a complete surprise every month. I get bloated and cry over car commercials and I wonder what's wrong with me. Every month. For seventeen years. I still don't ever see it coming. It only takes three weeks for me to totally forget.
So I guess I'll put off my official weigh in until later 😁
An open letter to myself
Hey!
How's it going? Listen, I know you're tired of doing indoor stuff like yoga and pilates. It's been a while since you've been on a run and you're feeling super motivated.
That's great, it really is. But now isn't the time. Remember why it's been a few days since the last run? Yeah, the fires in Santa Rosa. You couldn't see the end of the street and it smells like a campfire.
Today is pretty clear and it doesn't smell like smoke, you're right. But that doesn't mean the air is safe to breathe. Remember the prohibition on outdoor activities? Yeah, that's still in effect. Yeah, even though things look okay right now.
And when you end up ignoring this message and running anyway, at least listen to your body. When your lungs start burning after two blocks, please stop and go home. I know you feel fine, but your lungs don't like smoke. When it's hard to breathe after three blocks, turn around and go home instead of pushing through. Do you know what chapped lips feel like? Your lungs will feel like that in twenty minutes.
Yeah, I know you'd rather go for a run instead of more indoor exercise. But now isn't the time.
Sincerely,
You, in about an hour.

What I'm eating this week
I've been sticking to a quick breakfast of .5 cups rolled oats blended with .5 cups blueberries and .75 cups almond milk. I like this because I'm never hungry early in the morning when I wake up and it's nice to pack and eat later when I'm actually hungry. I started doing this because I noticed I always get hungry around 10:15 whether I've eaten breakfast or not. I decided to just wait until then to have breakfast and save about 300 calories.
Lunch at work is a PBJ sandwich on wheat bread with sugar free jam and low sugar smooth pb. I'd like to find a cheap sugar free pb that doesn't require stirring. Suggestions welcome.
Afternoon snack is a green salad of half red leaf or butter lettuce and half romaine. I love Caesar dressing with anchovies, though I'm trying to eat fully vegan at home and I'd love recommendations for a good Caesar dressing that has the anchovy flavor without the anchovies and of course the dairy. Toppings vary but include black beans, corn, roasted red peppers, and fresh herbs.
Dinner is either pasta, rice, lentils, potatoes, or tortillas with some form of sauce.
Calorie counts for the last week were 900-1600 averaging out at around 1200. I eat the same things, the variation is due to the portion size as some days I'm not very hungry and other days I go for another helping or have a snack at work, usually fruit cups, no sugar added, or belvita biscuits.
Total cost up front was about $70 of staples I know this because I just moved and didn't bring any food with me so I've just bought fresh of all my usual food. I typically spend an additional $10 each week on fresh veggies plus an additional $10 about once a month for more rice/beans/pasta.
LOOKING FOR ACTIVE BLOGS
If you’re an active blog and post about fitness, health or positivity then like or reblog this post.
I will follow (almost) anyone I don’t follow yet
And everyone who rebloged this post will be promoted in lists by the end of the day.
No need to follow me for the follow back or the promo, but do search for new blogs that you may like! :)
Signal boost! 🛰
Yes! I'm always looking for more people to follow!
So I’ve slipped up a lot. Although I love everyone I follow sometimes it gets very discouraging following a whole bunch of people who have already reached their goals! I’ve started looking at myself in a very bad light and because of this I have slipped up even more. I’d really like to follow some people who have slipped up or haven’t yet reached their goal weight; so please reblog! And this is basically all through trust because I’m going to be following everyone who reblogs this unless you write “for my followers” or something along those lines but I’m not too worried because I love discovering new fitblrs no matter what!
DUDE this speaks to my soul.
I don’t do fitblrs. Not even sure what it is. Just don’t be discouraged. It’s a journey for all of us. ❤️
I have a fitblr/spoonieblr where I talk about trying to lose weight while struggling with chronic conditions.
Struggling bad right now
Struggling extra because I started uni and it feels like my entire life was flipped upside down.
I love following others who aren't there yet. It's nice to have company on the journey! (And yes, I love all of you who have made it. You give me hope that it can be done!)
The reality of Instagram Modeling
This is important.
Does anyone else get frustrated at plateau weeks? I'm measuring by tape, not by pounds, and I've been at my step count 5/7 days, deficit 7/7 days with no change in my measurements. I know things are happening, I know plateaus aren't forever, but a full week with no change??? It's the worst.
Am I the only one who doesn't even own a scale or a gym membership?
