The picture in the background of the second one
Tama is boss
THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM
Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.
Beautiful.
Now I’m crying thanks
and a new cat was hired right?
yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy
she works very hard
Everytime this crosses my dash, I reblog. It is the law.
I’m crying at 11pm over train cats
Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016). There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.
^Nitama majestic, and below with Yontama
Yontama.
a legacy
okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back
“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.
Every time I see this post there’s new info and it gets better
You are only allowed to scroll pass this after you pay tribute to the great Tama Station masters.

Nitama presenting her yearly offerings to Tama Daimyōjin on the anniversary of Tama’s Death, June 23 (The offerings are presented by the company president, as Nitama is a cat and thus can’t hold the offerings herself) (Not pictured, but also present, Yontama)
you cannot pass without reblogging guys. i’m sorry, i don’t make the rules.

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

Sanders Sides Culture:
-Starting to call characters in other fandoms/ real people kiddo because it rubbed off on you
-Lowkey really wanting to dress up as one of the sides/ closet cosplaying just for fun
-Having an appreciation for Crofters (even if you’ve never tried it, or even seen a jar in real life.)
-Getting one of the songs stuck in your head (bonus points if you’ve been caught doing the Roman vs. Logan rap by yourself before.)
-Gushing about your favorite side to a friend/ family member that’s never even heard of Sanders Sides before because trust me, he’s the best
-Being confused by the ships at first “But.. their all Thomas, isn’t that kinda weird?” But by the time you’ve seen the fan art/ fanfics one of them is your otp
-Dropping everything to watch a new video
(Feel free to add on)
All of those. Literally all of those things I do xD
I would add:
- Everytime I have to choose colored things I pick the Sides’ color and arrange them in an order that makes sense with their interactions.
- Quoting randoms parts of songs or episodes all the time even if no one understands.
- Being able to recite some/all episodes by heart
- Refering to your own sides in your head
- Having wild theories about everything because Thomas, Joan and all the other writer are so clever you never knows what could be true.
And probably more but that’s all I can think for now ^^
why can’t MY life be a 50k slow burn friends to lovers fic
Whos to say it isnt. u wouldnt even notice till chapter 17
Reblogging because my girlfriend and I’s love story was pretty much a fanfic plot xD
Seriously though! Pining for each other for at least a year but not daring to act on it because “no way would they also feel that way haha we’re just very close friend”.
Everybody around us shipping us and wondering how long it would take us to finally get together!
And finally unplanned kissing each other at a very public event in front of all our friends, denying anything special happened until the love confession a few days later.
And now we’ve been dating for a year so safe to say that this long slow burn had a happy ending ^^
@by-the-blue love you babe ❤️ I’m glad the author of our fanfic story didn’t just disappear and discontinued the story before the end 😉
save the bees… and save the bats, save the wasps, save the moths. they are all pollinators, and they are all important to the earth, even if our human eyes don’t deem them as charming as hummingbirds. we have to protect them too!
the LITERAL point of this post was that even if we don’t particularly like certain pollinators, we shouldn’t condone their extinction.
it’s heartbreaking that people are reblogging this with “i hate wasps, they can die!“ wrong! try again! it’s actually not about you, sorry.
I cannot say how much I agree with this. And this is coming from someone who has a huge wasp phobia. When I see a wasp I get panic attack, frozen with fear and I often even break out crying. I will run a fucking 100 meter if one just comes a little too close.
But do I wish that they would all die???? NO!!!
They are necessary to the good of our planet. They are just as much a part of that cycle of life as I am. Just because I don’t like them and want them away from me, doesn’t mean that I wish for their instinction.
People need to take off their blinders and realize that just because they don’t like something doesn’t mean that this same thing shouldn’t exist!!
So yeah Save the wasp and all the other pollinators!!!! They are just doing their job and should be appreciated for it not condemned!
Me being traumatized and not wanting that to happen to other kids makes me a bad person now :)) I’m disgusting :)) and horrible :)) and it’s my fault that happened :)) and everybody hates me more now :)) cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.
You are not horrible. And I do not hate you. It is not your fault that it happened. But things that are marked as adult very clearly are not for kids, and if you read it anyway it is on the people who should have been supervising you and did not intervene, or, assuming that you were old enough to know what ‘adult content’ means and chose to engage with stuff produced by adult fans for adult fans, on you for ignoring the warnings.
If a ten year old child goes to a library right now, and walks to the romance section and pulls down a book, that child’s guardians are responsible for saying “Hey now that is not for you.” If that same child comes back at thirteen and, knowing there is content in that book that adults do not want them to read, furtively hides away from guardian’s eyes and reads it anyway, that is not the fault of the library for having that book, or the author for writing it.
I am very sorry you’ve been hurt. But adults are going to produce content for adults, and if you ignore the guidelines set in place to keep kids out of that content, then that’s not the fault of the adults who wrote the stuff.
When I was 14 years old, I was in Sailor Moon fandom. Now, that might sound pretty family friendly, but rest assured, there was plenty of smut and plenty of REALLY dark-ass shit.
All this shit was marked, though not NEARLY as thoroughly as is common now-a-days, with a rating. R meant it was probably not for kids, NC-17 meant it was ABSOLUTELY not for kids. It didn’t always mean there was sex, just that the author recognized that the topics and themes they were covering were dark and shown/discussed very explicitly, and that it was really not something a kid should be reading.
When, at 14 years old, I went into a clearly-labeled NC-17 Sailor Moon fic, and I was DEEPLY triggered by some of the content in it. It wasn’t even the darkest parts, but it was explicit suicidal ideation and planning that dug right in to the low-level desire to die that I’d been struggling with for 2 years, and I was in a pretty bad place for the rest of the week.
I did not and do not blame the author of that fic. All the really dark/violent fics I read had much more content warning than the sexy fic I ever read, and this one had been not only rated as “adult” but listed “explicit violence” and “suicide” in the author’s notes at the beginning.
I had chosen to read this fic. After I read this fic, I did not read fics I knew included suicide for a few months (until I started writing my own to deal with my feelings, whole other story), and I stopped reading that particular author’s fics because most of them were very dark and violent, and I realized I probably shouldn’t be reading them.
I was 14 years old and I recognized that a) since I was unsupervised online (by design) I was responsible for staying away from upsetting things, and b) that the person writing the fic wasn’t to blame for my reaction when I went in knowing full well it was a fic that was not intended for me. And hell, c) I RECOGNIZED AT 14 THAT R AND NC-17 RATED FICS (what on AO3 would be M or E rated) WERE NOT INTENDED FOR ME.
I refuse to hold young people to a lower standard than I was held to - both by fandom culture and myself - when I was a teen. Not because “I had it bad so you have to too”, because I didn’t have it bad! But if I could do it, SO CAN YOU. If you read a clearly marked fic and you’re triggered because of mental illness stuff, it’s nobody’s fault. If you read a clearly marked fic and you’re triggered because of trauma stuff, it’s the fault of the person who traumatized you. But if you’re reading a clearly-marked fic and know it could trigger you, or it triggers you because your trigger is odd or rare and no one would think to tag for it, it is not the fault of the author or archive. Just because it’s not your fault doesn’t mean it’s the fault of the fanfic author who did their absolute best to warn for the contents of their fic. And if you read a fic intentionally on AO3 that has chosen the “chooses not to use archive warnings” option, that’s a risk you have chosen to take. The only time a fanfic author is to blame is if they intentionally misrepresent their fic as not having violence/sex/whatever and it actually does.
Otherwise, it’s not their fault, and it sucks ass that you’re hurt, but you are ultimately in charge of your online experience. And if you find yourself intentionally reading/seeking out things you know may upset you, then you should ask a parent to curate your internet experience for you, because you’re clearly not yet capable of doing it for yourself.
Also, sorry dash for the spam, but one more thing:
IF YOU INTENTIONALLY SEEK OUT CONTENT YOU KNOW MAY UPSET YOU, YOU ARE SELF-HARMING.
Self-harm is intentionally harming or injuring yourself, and intentionally triggering yourself is a form of self-harm.
“Self-harm is intentionally harming or injuring yourself, and intentionally triggering yourself is a form of self-harm.”
Oh. I knew that. I know I knew that. I just never put it together with some of my behavior before. Jinkies.
ANYWAY.
Yes.
A friend whose kinky smut I desired to read sent me the thing they were most proud of, I started reading, and nearly immediately ran across something super, super upsetting to me, and I spent the next two days shaking my hands out and growling because it brought bad thoughts to the surface.
That was not his fault. That was not my fault. It’s just a thing that happened.
Sometimes, folks, when you get triggered, there’s nobody who can rightly be blamed.
Blaming people who write content you find disturbing are not obligated to stop writing or sharing it because it upsets you. They aren’t actually even obligated to tag it, even though that is A) now commonly accepted fic manners, and B) something that I absolutely 100% would do.
I get that fandom is supposed to feel like a haven away from all the nasty bullshit that the world foists upon us. And it can be. I even think that yes, to an extent it should be.
However.
That does not mean that there aren’t adult spaces within fandom. That doesn’t mean that fandom itself, all fandom, is a safe space and that everyone in it is obligated to try to take care of you.
You need to do that yourself. You need to be comfortable with the idea that some people will like things you personally find awful or upsetting. And you need to learn how to disengage.
Anon is not a bad person. It was not their fault they were traumatized. Nobody should be. What happened doesn’t make anon disgusting, and it doesn’t mean that what happened was their fault. Nobody should hate them.
But fandom content has literally nothing to do with what was done to them, except for reminding them of it. That’s extremely unpleasant, but it’s not a reason to tell everyone “Stop doing this thing!”
Even if somebody is forcing you to look at it (I don’t mean you stumble across untagged adult content by accident, I mean someone actually makes you look at it) it’s not the content creator’s fault (unless they ARE the person making you look at it, in which case it is obviously very wrong).
So please, stop. It’s not that we don’t care.
It’s that we figure you’re old enough to find your own way around, and come up with your own ways of protecting yourself from content you don’t want to see.
Most of y’all grew up in a VASTLY more permissive cultural context than I did. Most of you don’t understand how terrible, patronizing, stifling, and stunting it is to have fandom spaces sterilized of all but the most wholesome content. You may think you do. You really probably don’t.
Please stop trying to drag us back there. It’s only going to wear you out. Those of us who lived through it once? We’re not going to tolerate it happening again, even though, this time, it’s coming from within fandom itself.
Here’s the issue the though. Fanfiction is beginning to replace published fiction as the main source of entertainment for a lot of people. Fiction may not affect reality in the sense of short term changes, but it does affect reality in terms of long term changes.
Many of the misconceptions and stereotypes exist in society because of the media we consume. People think sharks are these evil creatures that attack humans because of movies like Jaws. People think negatively of hunters regardless of context because of the way hunters are portrayed as greed scumbags that cares more about money or getting a trophy than the animals they are hunting. Our perception of reality is often times colored by the media we consume. Like it or not, you as media creator have a responsibility to your readers in the same way that a teacher has a responsibility to their student.
Authors aren’t and don’t have to be ~teachers~. I have no responsibility to not write weird porn because someone m i g h t read it and take the wrong “message”. One’s perception of reality is not solely or even predominantly colored by media— it’s colored as much by your social and cultural communities. It’s colored by mass media. It’s colored by your friends, your parents, the news, the politicians in your area.
Bad art is allowed to exist. Art you don’t like is allowed to exist. Art you don’t think is moral is allowed to exist. Art you don’t understand is allowed to exist. Art can be a teaching tool, but it is not required to be. Artists are not and do not have to be teachers.
Also, a massive [citation needed] on the “fanfiction is replacing mainstream fiction” because looooool nah. Not to mention most fic authors probably also read published fiction.
“Bad art is allowed to exist. Art you don’t like is allowed to exist. Art you don’t think is moral is allowed to exist. Art you don’t understand is allowed to exist.”
Artists and writers have NEVER had the same responsibilities as teachers. Ever. What utter nonsense.
As someone who is currently studying to be a teacher AND has written fics (some of them being very smutty and definitely not for children) I can attest that these two are not the same and definitely don’t have the same responsibilities.
Fanfic writers are creators. They are creating stories aimed towards a certain audience and their responsibility is to tag appropriately as to not mislead people who might not desire to read said stories. But that’s it. Their art should not be held to any standards of “quality” or censorship.
Teachers are educator. Their job is to educate and teach people about different subject and their teachings HAVE to be held to an appropriate standards set according to their students’ age group.
Those are two completely different situations and should not even be compared.
As a teacher I sure as hell would not show one my students a graphic story but that sure would not stop me from writing one on the side.
Art is a very subjective and abstract concept. You will find many things that you hate or don’t understand in this world but as long as it is not harming anyone, live and let live, just seek out the content you will actually enjoy ^^
Rules of a Happy, Healthy Fandom
Rule 1, Don’t like, Don’t read
Pretty simple and straight forward. It doesn’t matter if it’s tagged as a ship you dislike or you’re 10 chapters in, if you don’t like it or it disturbs you too much, stop. The back button is your friend.
Rule 2, Properly Tag
If your fic contains anything possibly triggering or squicky, tag it. If your fic is an AU, tag it. If your fic is about a ship, tag it. Vice versa, do not overtag or improperly tag. If your fic is based around Stucky, don’t tag Stony.
Rule 3, Filters are your friend
If the app or website has an option to filter tags, use it. If you need to download an extension, download it. If someone has missed an important tag, you can politely message them requesting to add it.
Rule 4, Don’t harass people for shipping your NoTp
We all have that one ship we absolutely positively hate with every fibre of our being. And chances are, someone hates your Otp with the same ferocity. Don’t harass people over shipping your NoTp.
Rule 5, Do your research
If you’re writing a fic and a plot point or character is introduced you’re not sure how to write, research it! Google is your friend! There are also blogs dedicated to assisting people with certain topics such as @writingwithcolor
Rule 6, Your kink is not my kink, and that’s okay
Chances are, someone gets off to something you hate. And, that’s okay! We all have different and varying tastes!
Rule 7, Feedback keeps content creators creating
Likes, comments, reblogs, and recomendations keep your fanfic writers writing. Where would writers be if no one read their works? Where would artists be if no one bought their art?
Rule 8, If you want it, write it
It’s bound to happen to everyone, you just can’t find a specific fic for a specific ship or it’s that one rare pair no one appreciates like you do. What do you do in this situation? You write it yourself! It may not be the best-written or most poetic or maybe it’s just a pure crackfic, but that’s okay!
Rule 9, Fanon is not Canon
Likewise, headcanons are not canon. And if someone has a different headcanon, that’s okay! Sure, we may ignore canon for fics but headcanons and fanfiction and fanart are not canon!
Rule 10, Fiction is not reality
And the most important of all, fiction is not reality. Writing abuse fics does not mean you support abuse in real life. Writing suicidal characters does not mean the writer is suicidal. Writing glorified murder fics does not mean the writer supports murder in real life.
If you have more positive rules, feel free to add! These are just 10 little rules I find to be very important for a happy healthy fandom. Remember, fandoms are supposed to be for fun! You write that shameless self-insert Mary Sue OC, you write that rarepair smut, you write that 250k slow burn Coffee Shop AU! You make fandom as fun as you want it to be!
This!!!! This is what it should always be in fandoms! Just let people enjoy whatever they enjoy ^^
hi hello CATS!!!! CANNOT!!!! BE VEGAN!!!!!
i cannot believe i have to fucking say this.
dogs are omnivore and IF YOUR VET APPROVES your pooch MAY be able to go on an APPROVED(!!!!!) commercial vegan dog food like the brand “v-dog” which has all the essential vitamins, protein, etc. (the oldest record winning dogs have been vegan)
cats are CARNIVORE and cannot fucking live on a vegan diet. a vet would laugh in your face and probably find some way to have your pet taken away from you because you’re obviously not fit to have an animal if you think you can feed a cat a diet based on your own ethics
i’m vegan but this is so fucking harmful.
it’s about minimizing your harm, not putting your animals on risky diets in an attempt to be perfect.
DON’T FUCKING DO THIS TO YOUR PETS
Idiot people
If you see someone you know doing this, report them for animal cruelty and neglect.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This posts, and many of the notes on it, are bothering me. Ladies, gentlemen, esteemed colleagues from outside the confines of the gender binary; gather ‘round. Let’s throw some science in this joint.
1. Humans. Humans are not cats. Humans are not dogs. One would think this obvious, but people have a tendency to attempt such interspecies comparisons when discussing diet. Humans are order omnivora; we have essentially evolved in a manner that attempts to give us as much dietary flexibility as possible. We do, however, require a substance called B12 (or cobalamin), which is extremely important for brain and nervous system functions, as well as the synthesis of DNA and the construction of red blood cells. We cannot produce this vitamin ourselves–no animal, plant, or fungus can. The enzymes used in cobalamin production are essentially unique to bacteria and archaea–some species of which hang out in the digestive tracks of other animals. We get cobalamin in a roundabout way from fish, shellfish, meat, eggs, milk, and dairy products. While there is no naturally-occurring, vegan source of the vitamin that has been demonstrated effective in a human study of statistically significant sample size, effective synthetic forms do exist and can be used as a substitute. Cyanocobalamin is one of the most common and is frequently found in fortified foods and vitamins. In short: Humans are omnivores. Humans have evolved for dietary flexibility, including viable vegetarianism. Humans did not evolve for veganism (be extremely suspicious of people who tell you that we did, as they are lying), but due to modern technologies, veganism is also a viable diet that humans can thrive on, should they so choose.
2. Cats. Cats are order carnivora. Cats require (amongst other things) an amino acid called taurine. We’re not quite sure how, exactly, but we know that it’s extremely important to feline heart wall tissue, retinal tissue, and brain tissue amongst other things. Cats cannot manufacture their own taurine, and must get it from other sources–primarily shellfish, fish and meat. Taurine breaks down when heated, so feeding your cat a home-cooked diet rich in this foods is also not necessarily a good idea (talk to a vet). Secondary (read: SUPPLEMENTARY. NOT A SOLE SOURCE OF TAURINE.) sources of taurine for cats include dairy, eggs, and seaweed- or yeast-based taurine supplements. In nature, cats don’t really need to worry about getting enough taurine, because (as you may have noticed), taurine sources are indeed the things that cats tend to catch and eat. However, a cat that lives in a human household is dependent on humans for food, and sometimes humans are utter fucktrucks. In short: Cats are obligate carnivores. Their primary source of nutrition is meat. They must eat meat, preferably as close to raw as possible. They have digestive tracks designed for digesting meat. There are vegan/vegetarian cat kibbles on the market. Do not buy them. Your cat is neither vegan nor vegetarian, and if you adjust their diet as if they were, you are a terrible person who is harming and possibly killing your pet. You suck. End of discussion.
3. Dogs. Dogs are slightly more nuanced here. They are facultative carnivores–meaning that they optimally should eat meat, but can survive on other things if resources are scare. Dogs also need the amino acid taurine, but can technically manufacture it themselves if the proper building blocks are in their diets. They also need vitamin D–D3 is preferable, but D2 can be used to some degree. Dogs are somewhere between us (the true omnivore) and the cat (the true carnivore). A vegan or vegetarian diet will keep a dog alive, certainly, but is unlikely to allow your pet to thrive as it lacks the recommended nutrients. You should probably be feeding your dog meat. The exception here–some dogs are allergic to conventional dog foods, or find symptoms of certain diseases alleviated by vegetarianism. In this case, a veterinarian (not you, layperson, I mean an actual trained veterinarian) may determine that the benefits of putting your dog on a vegetarian/vegan diet outweigh those of feeding your dog meat. This is relatively rare, but does occasionally happen. And no, actually, the oldest dog is not vegan–Bramble is the only dog on this list that I found had some indication of veganism. The oldest dog on record is an Australian Kelpie named Maggie, who was not vegan. It is more likely that Bramble lived that long despite the veganism, not because of it. In short: If a vet thinks that your dog may be allergic to dog food/require a special diet and recommends you try feeding it a vegetarian/vegan diet, listen to your vet. Otherwise? Dogs are carnivora. They do need vegetables and other sources of nutrients, but their optimal fuel, as it were, is meat. Your dog needs meat to be happy. Fucking feed your dog.
Now, I did manage to find two veterinarians who disagree with every other study I dug up and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Their articles are here and here. They don’t really have sources, and are essentially wholly dependent on anecdotal evidence (“my dog is a vegetarian and hasn’t died!”), but for those of you data cherry-pickers reading this, there you go.
As a rule, dogs and cats need meat. If that makes you uncomfortable, that is your problem, not theirs. If you try to implement a vegan or vegetarian diet for your pets because you implemented one for yourself, you shouldn’t have those pets. That is animal abuse. (By the way, those of you not feeding your cats and non-allergic dogs the food they need to survive and thrive? What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you not love your pets?)
TL;DR If you do not want a pet that must be fed meat, you should under no circumstances acquire a cat or a dog. Thank you for your time.

Ok I’m fed up!!!
Not with what the original person said on twitter.
No I’m 100% done with that fucking attitude everybody else is having in this thread.
Yes veganism and vegetarianism is bad for cats and dog. I already thought so before reading this and already thought people who were feeding their animals that way were doing something wrong.
But contrary to all those “smart” people up there, I didn’t simply take it out on them with judgmental comments end exposition of knowledge. I am talking about those who seemed to have decided that the universal truth is that pet’s owners who feed their animal vegan food are abominable heartless cruel monster who wants to make their pets suffer. No exceptions possible!
Well then tell me “savant” people! Did it ever occurred to you that maybe, just fucking maybe, they didn’t know any better?
That since veganism was working well for them they also just wanted the best for their pets?
That they didn’t do much research, as so fucking many humans do, and found people who told them it was good so they thought that was true.
Or maybe they found research that said it was good and decided to believe them.
Are those even possible in that ‘’brilliant’’ mind of yours?????
Cause you know not everyone does intense research before making a decision.
Should they? Absolutely!
But do they realistically do? Nope!
That doesn’t mean they do it because they’re a bad person, and to simply use the fact that you know something when they don’t to judge their whole integrity of character, I found this despicable and mean.
Yes it is important to tell people to stop feeding cats and dogs as if they were vegan. By all means everyone should be sending that message out there and should be telling pets owners about this.
But there are ways to do it! And being a judgmental ass about it is not the right one… if what you wish is to be understood.
Let’s take an exemple:
When I was younger, let’s say about 13 yo, I gave my cat a bit of chocolate as a treat. Of course as you may expect my cat got sick. I didn’t understand why and it’s my mom who calmly explain to me that chocolate is very dangerous for many animals. I was heartbroken cause I had never meant to hurt my sweet little baby. Of course from that moment I never did it again and was telling everyone I knew who had pets to not do it.
Years later, I must be 24 now, I’m at a dairy queen and I see a family feeding some chocolate ice cream to their dog, to reward him for being a good boy.
My first thought is to explode! Don’t they see this is dangerous! How dare they give something bad like this to their dog. Don’t they like him!!!
And then I remember. I remember how my 13 year old self did the same, simply cause she didn’t know any better.
So I approach the family and greet them nicely. Then I explain very calmly that I am sure they didn’t know about it but that chocolate is actually very dangerous for their dogs as it could get him sick, or worse.
Instant reactions: “ oh my god! We didn’t know!! Thank you so much for telling us. We’re so so sorry”
And as I left, I saw the dog reach for more ice cream and the family say “No sweetie no more of this, it’s bad for you”
Now do you think this convo would have gone as smoothly if I just ran to them, saying they were heartless cruel monster if they fed him chocolate because the only explanation would be that there not caring about his health?
I can guarantee it wouldn’t have.
I know you all have the best interest of cats and dog at heart. And yes it is important to spread that information so that more people might see it.
I have nothing against what you’re doing. I have something against how you’re doing it.
No matter how right we may be, or what is the cause we speaking for, insulting people is not the way of progress. It is the easy way of people who refuse to listen and think themselves better than everyone else.
That may be harsh. I’m sorry if hurt someone. But at the same time if you were able to dish it so easily, then I sure hope you’re able to take it.
I've got a weird question: how do Americans kiss? I often see in fanfic person A running their tongue over person B's teeth, gums or even the roof of the mouth. Like?? This isn't how we French kiss where I live lol plus A and B often part their kiss in order to breathe. Don't Americans breathe through their noses? I really don't understand it and these doubts haunt me whenever I come across yet another romance fanfic written by an American
Ok, this is an absolutely fair question and the answer is that nobody in real life kisses like people in fanfic. Nobody “plunders their lover’s mouth”. Tongues do not “battle for dominance”. Two people kissing do not look like they’re trying to “eat each other alive”. I can’t explain to you exactly why fanfic (and writing generally for that matter) is so bad at describing kisses but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s that it’s difficult to make actual kissing as it is practiced by normal, non-slobbery human beings sound exciting:
“A’s mouth pressed against B’s gently, then more firmly. Their lips slid against each other as they both tilted their heads, slightly varying the pressure. B’s tongue made a brief appearance to brush against A’s lower lip, then receded. They parted momentarily, then pressed their lips together again, firm, then gentle. They continued in this vein until a) they had to stop because you can’t actually take off your clothes while your face is attached to someone else’s, b) they got bored, or c) they misjudged the angles and knocked their teeth together, which is a thing that never happens in fanfic, does absolutely happen in real life, and really fucking hurts.”
See what I mean?
I see where Anon is coming from and I do agree that a sometimes fanfic writers (and regular writers for that matter) have a tendency to write kisses in a very exaggerated manner. That being said I don’t agree with all being said up there. Nobody kisses exactly alike. There are different ways of kissing and it will depend on you which ones you like or don’t like.
First of all, you don’t HAVE to kiss with the tongue. There is no obligation of putting the tongue in at any step of the kissing process. If this is not something you’re comfortable with or if you find it gross than by all mean don’t force yourself too.
But, if you don’t mind the tongue, then this is definitely something you can do that can be really fun. The post up there made it seemed like no tongue truly happens and I’m like ??? Very confused about that.
I’m 25 yo and I have been with a few partners. And like we often kissed with the tongue. Not all the time because again not all kisses have to included tongue in there. The thing is when you kisses with the tongue don’t just shove it in there and let it rest there. That’s indeed gonna be really gross. But go in slow. It can be with a lick on the bottom lip (i love this one) or just poking it slowly or any other way you like. Once both partner are down for this and the tongues go in, move them. And by all mean there is no patterns imposed. You wanna go in circles? Go in circles! You wanna explore every corner of their mouths? Do it! You wanna go in a little, explore a bit then recede and come back later? Sure thing! What you do with your tongue will most certainly be very awkward at first because kissing in itself is very awkward xD but if you like it it will get better with time and practice.
Teeth clattering together most definitely happened! Doesn’t always hurt that much and if it doesn’t kill the mood just laugh it off and continue ^^
Yes you breath through your nose but sometimes the whole out of breath comes more from having to catch your breath becaus the moment is intense rather than because you were turning blue xD
Kisses can be passionate and intense or very soft and slow. Depends on both partners.
So is kissing in fanfic accurate? Depends on the fic but sometimes they romanticized it too mich for it to be actually relatable. But there is definitely good fics out there that will accurately depicts a kissing scene with all the awkwardness and hotness it implies.
Just go find the good ones ;)
