Kaya tayo walang lovelife kasi natutulog tayo sa bus beshy e! 

Did you know that an average person living especially in Manila spends between 90 and 150 minutes commuting every day?  And the average statistics don’t take into consideration the hours added to the time spent on traffic during times when it’s payday Friday or a rainy day that floods half the roads in Manila. 

So when someone said Filipinos are lazy, I beg to disagree because I see many Filipinos bearing the traffic everyday so they can provide for their families. Some even go abroad and leave their families, working more than 18 hours a day so they can earn more and send money.

Mas naniniwala pa ako if sabihin nilang kulang sa tulog ang Pilipino kasi parating stuck sa traffic pauwi.

Meet Angel Lukso, ang babaeng small but terrible. Lumukso lang naman siya sa bus at hinabol yung magnanakaw ng bagong biling Iphone X niya. Instant Darnaaaa!

“How to lose a guy in 1 Day” Dahil sobrang nasanay na yung body natin sa commute everyday, sometimes minsan talaga we need to take a break so we can be productive in life and in love! haha! I enjoyed creating the outfits and picking the right colors for this illustration. The concept is inspired by one of my fave romcom movie “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”. What is your fave romcom movie?

"Maria Carry" And everytime I feel the weight, I hold tighter to my things… One night as I was waiting for a bus after a long day at work, I saw a woman alighting from a bus with both of her hands carrying a “pabitin” and a heavy bag full of party supplies which I assume are for her child’s birthday party. Despite the crowd of commuters on her way, she was able to pass through them while gripping tightly on her things until she was able to get off. It reminds me of my mother who always carry 2 or more handbags at the same time! I remember she used to call me and my siblings after her tiring day at work and asks us what food we want to eat even if she has to carry more bags and wait in long queues.😊 May we always be reminded to be grateful of our parents because we never know the difficulties they encounter so we can experience the good things in life. Happy weekend, commuters! Keri Boom boom lang! 😊💕

“100 Days of Commute” is a series of “punny” and playful illustrations & letterings about commuting inspired by the commuters I see everyday. It is my first passion project after learning all the lessons I acquired from the Passion to Paid class of the talented, Lauren Hom. In our class, we were taught to let our creative juices flow and unearth creative goldmines from our own experiences and interest. Commuting is the subject I ended up as the theme for my project because it is one of the few topics that I can deeply relate to. I have several experiences from commuting both funny and stressful to the point it made me bawl the moment I arrived at my house after walking almost 2.5km under the rain because all jeepneys were jam-packed with passengers. I also witnessed numerous commuters struggling to commute everyday so they can go to work and provide for their families. I hope my illustrations and lettering can not only make you chuckle, but can also raise awareness of the real issues commuters face everyday especially in Manila.
