Damian defends the Red Hood. the family doesnāt know why, but itās concerning. what reason would their youngest have to defend a crime lord? there must have been something more to it.
even after the identity reveal, Damian refuses to step down. the moment he perceives the family as being unfair to Jason, the moment they seem to overlook him or brush him off, Damian will be there to tell them off and remind them that, actually, Jason was talking first.
whatās probably even more dumbfounding to them by that point is that Jason lets it happen. it forces them to realize that Jason hardly fights for himself, to be heard or acknowledged. and for those of them that had been there when Jason first joined the family? itās a painful reminder of the skittish boy they had first got to know
Damian takes his duties of brother very seriously. when Jason first joined their family back in Nanda Parbat, his mother had been very clear when explaining to him that his brother was in no state to speak or stand up for himself due to his catatonic state. Damian had made it his mission then to not only defend but also promote his brotherās interest. it would be unbecoming of him to let anyone diminish or take advantage of the more vulnerable member of their family until he could do it for himself
except that time never did happen. Damian still jumps to Jasonās defence at a momentās notice and Jason still gets a little choked up when he gets to witness how how protective his little brother still is of him
Brucie Wayne comes out with his own cosmetic line.
When asked about it during an interview he responds, āWhy let the girls have all the fun?ā before winking at the camera, kissing some reporter on the cheek, and disappearing while the camera pans to the bright red lipstick mark.
His kids do the bulk of the promoting, sending out packages to people on youtube and tiktok and instagram. Tim has them all try out a few looks on their social medias. There are a few ācollabsā that Bruce is grateful he doesnāt have to appear in.
The fan favorite of the promos is a youtube video called My Siblings Do My Makeup, which is just Tim subjecting himself to the chaos. Steph and Dickās looks are as always, unfairly good. Jason goes for a drag look and Tim is happy to complete the makeover when Steph lends him an appropriate dress. Cass and Duke do well but they go for straightforward and not overly complicated. The video ends with Damianās look, everyone sitting stunned. He hadnāt gone for the obvious troll theyād been expecting. In fact, Tim thought it might be his favorite look of the video. When pressed, all Damian would say on the subject is, āI have seen my Mother prepare for far more dignified outings than the galas you subject me to.ā
Itās an absolute hit. Especially in Gotham, where people have frequent encounters with rogues that love leaving their victims with āremindersā that arenāt easy concealed. There are reddit pages dedicated to people suggesting the brand for covering up scars and other noticeable markings.
There is even a video, shaky and badly lit, of Nightwing shouting at Two Face during a rooftop pursuit asking if heās tried out the sample he sent him. The video ends abruptly with some shouted curses punctuated with gunfire. The following morning, from a burner twitter account, was a single image of someone in a red helmet holding Harvey Dent for the camera, both sides of his face looking like he did just before the accident, although far angrier.

Au where dick grayson, age nine, had a union phase and demanded just payment from Bruce for the work he did (āCANT BELIVE YOU BRUCE! HOW DARE-kid you literally refused getting a normal allowance why would I think youād want this-YOU TAKE ADā) and has been paid hourly ever since. With overtime.
He forgot they ever talked about this a month later when he switches from unions to the batcave potential of French catacombs.
Heās reminded when he checks his bank account at 18 just to see literal years worth of 40+ hr work week deposits in his statements
to reintroduce Jason to the world Bruce decides to just mysteriously announce that heās adopted a new son and will introduce him at the next Wayne gala. all of Gotham is buzzing about the new child Bruce is gonna appear with. Jason cries from laughing.
Gothamite: what the. what
Bruce, grinning ear to ear, hand on Jasonās shoulder: this is my new son!
Gothamite: heās not new.
Dick: well, repurposed.
Bruce: i donāt know what youāre all talking about! son, introduce yourself!
Gothamite: heās not- you already- i thought this one was dead?!?
Jason, completely straight faced: hello, my name is Todd, Todd Jason.
Gothamite:
Tim, tiredly to Damian: and this is why we donāt let B and Jay make important decisions after theyāve shared 3 bottles of wine.
actually the idea that Dick, the eldest, the only one who ever wore the cowl long term, the only one who raised a Robin on his own, is also the only one who can successfully, perfectly replicate that barked ROBIN! in Bruce's voice? the only one who can pull that exact tone from the depths of his soul, to the point where his voice is identical, so identical that old Robins like Jason are obeying before their minds even realize their bodies are moving? that Dick is the only one, has always been the only one, who can channel Bruce's voice? can channel Batman himself? I am going feral
Jason: āIām NOTHING like Bruce, okay? Weāre not even that similar. Thatās all in your head.ā
Dick, perched on Jasonās couch watching him gear up, sipping a Batburger shake: āso youāre NOT about to go deal with your emotions by going out on patrol and beating people up?ā
Jason: *sets down the brass knuckles he was just holding* *stares off into the distance*
Jason: āThese are justā¦for my ā look, I donāt like your fucking tone, Richard.ā
I find this panel so funny because now all I can imagine is Talia sneaking into the manor to the kitchen when Alfred is cooking and going āIām going to teach you how I make my mloukhieh correctly so Damian can feel more at homeā
And they have a nice evening bonding over cooking and sharing recipes
Since the batkids are so well introduced to their lovely older brother, and they work closely with kids/younger heroes on occasion, many of the Batfam have learned to substitute a certain curse word for names. A name, to be precise-
Red Robin: dang it Hood! Stop undermining me!
Red Hood: Iām not! You just have bad plans.
Red Robin: gods you're such a Richard
~
Robin: *says something pouty*
Batman: theres no need to be Richardy about it Robin.Ā
~
Spoiler: hey Oracle, you find it yet?
Oracle: hold on Iām looking
Spoiler: hurry up, Iām about to lose him
Oracle: spoil stop that's not helpingĀ
Orphan: *signing* yeah you're being a richard, shes trying
~
Red Hood: hey richardhead, nice going, you lost me my goons
Nightwing: fuck off
Dick of course, is most insulted by this, but habits rub off, soā¦
Nightwing: I had it under control Batman. No need for your interference
Batman: ah yes. My favorite, losing a fight=under control. I forget
Nightwing: okay no need to be a Richard about it
Batman: *grins*
Nightwing: OOOH I hate all of you
The 'would Cass and Jason get along' conversation is interesting because it often hinges on whether Cass would forgive/accept/look past Jason's actions. A lot of people debate whether Cass' compassion outweighs her stance against killing, etc. I think this is the wrong way to go about it because the Cass + Jason dynamic depends on the person's interpretation of Jason, not Cass. If Jason is repentant/swore off killing a la Wayne Family Adventures or something, then yeah sure Cass would be fine with him (see the way she approaches past murderers like Alpha or Damian). But if your version of Jason is pro-killing (even the slightest bit, even the Joker), then no, she would not get along with him. And that's fine.
It's fine for Cass not to get along with every single member of the Batfamily. It's fine for her to have such a hard stance on morality it blinds her to grey areas (which is a canonical issue for her). It's fine for Jason to forsake relationships he may or may not care about in favour of his own morality, too. I think it makes sense to believe Jason and Cass get along, especially with where canon!Jason is now, but it should hinge on Jason changing, not on whether Cass learns to understand him.
This is so true. I see a lot of people saying Cass is able to forgive and empathise with killers and while true she will actively getting along phase when they show remorse and a desire to change. Depending on who you ask (both in fanon and DC) this may or may not apply to Jason. I swear no one knows what's happening with that guy atm.
Also in my opinion an overlooked reason that Cass would hold a grudge against Jason is his UTRH plan to get Bruce to kill the joker. Cass' staunch moral framework comes from the fact that she was made to kill as a child. I don't think she would easily get over Jason trying to coerce Bruce (the only other person she knows with the same raw unwavering need to preserve all human life, no matter what) into committing a murder. It'd be one thing for her to forgive a murderer. But it'd be another for her to forgive someone who tried to force someone else to violate their own moral code and commit murder unwillingly.
