Assigning JoJo Stands to Class 1B Students

Exactly what it says in the title. Side note before we begin: these Stand matchups are not perfect, nor are they completely based on their Quirks, just what I personally think fits them best. If you have any disagreements or concerns, feel free to send in an ask.

All respective Stands listed will be linked to their wiki page. SPOILERS for JoJo Parts 3-8 below the cut.

Awase Yousetsu - NUT KING CALL

Nut King Call is able to fasten two objects between a nut and a connecting bolt, akin to Awase’s Weld. As an added factor, Nut King Call’s ability to generate and affix nuts and bolts matches Awase’s mechanical aesthetic well.

Kaibara Sen - PURPLE HAZE

Purple Haze is a lethal, indiscriminate Stand that requires a lot of careful control, similar in concept to that of Gyrate, though the latter does not have a toxic aspect to it.

Kamakiri Togaru - CRAZY DIAMOND

Crazy Diamond was chosen because of its high offensive capabilities befitting to that of a close-quarters protagonist Stand.

Kuroiro Shihai - ENIGMA

Though perhaps not an obvious choice, Enigma’s overall versatility and non-fighting ability make it a good match for Kuroiro. The added ‘scaring’ activation method also coincides with Kuroiro’s sneak attacks.

Kendou Itsuka - BORN THIS WAY

Born This Way has a motorbike rider aesthetic, reflecting Kendou’s love for motorcycles. The trigger for the Stand also resembles that of the activation method for Kendou’s Big Fist.

Kodai Yui - LITTLE FEET

Little Feet’s shrinking ability is akin to that of Kodai’s Size Quirk.

Komori Kinoko - CALIFORNIA KING BED

California King Bed seems to be harmless at first, but quickly turns dangerous the more it’s used on someone, just like Komori’s Mushroom spore ability.

Shiozaki Ibara - HERMIT PURPLE

Hermit Purple’s thorny vines are a vital factor on why I picked out this Stand, but I do also enjoy the fact this Stand seeks out the truth and brings it to light— much like Shiozaki herself.

Shishida Jurota - TUBULAR BELLS

Tubular Bells is able to register and track down the smell of an object or person. Shishida is shown to have superior senses, especially that of scent. The Stand in its active form are shaped like different animals, just like Shishida’s Beast Quirk.

Shoda Nirengeki - DIVER DOWN

Diver Down works similarly to that of Shoda’s Twin Impact with its ability to redirect and store attacks.

Tsunotori Pony - TUSK ACT 1

Both horns and nails are made of keratin, and both powers (Horn Cannon and Tusk ACT 1) allow their users to fire their respective body parts.

Tsuburaba Kosei - HARVEST

Not so much related to Tsuburaba’s Quirk as much as his general aesthetic. Harvest is adorable in small numbers, but deadly as a group, just like how Tsuburaba thrives with teamwork.

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu - WHITE ALBUM

White Album’s ice armor is impervious to bullets and other penetrative substances, and also greatly increases the user’s physical strength. Although not exactly metal, it is a perfect defensive Stand for Tetsutetsu.

Tokage Setsuna - HIGHWAY STAR

Highway Star’s ability to segment itself into multiple thin pieces is a fun twist on Tokage’s Quirk. Its life-stealing ability can also allude to Tokage’s regenerative properties.

Fukidashi Manga - IN A SILENT WAY

In a Silent Way is similar to Echoes ACT 2, which Fukidashi’s Comic is compared to a lot. The only reason I didn’t go with ACT 2 was because it is touch-activated, and Comic does not have that requirement.

Honenuki Juzo - SPICE GIRL

Just like Honenuki’s Softening Quirk, Spice Girl is able to soften any material she touches.

Bondo Kojiro - RATT

Ratt is able to corrode both living and non-living objects into a gelatinous substance that sticks to itself. Though not an exact replica of Bondo’s Quirk, it was the closest canon provided.

Monoma Neito - SURFACE

Since there are no Stand copying abilities as of yet, the closest one was chosen— Surface’s ability to mimick another human being.

Yanagi Reiko - STAR PLATINUM

Star Platinum’s superior reflexes and time-stop could work as an upgrade for Yanagi’s Poltergeist.

Rin Hiryuu - DRAGON’S DREAM

‘Feng shui’ divination and its subsequent luck readings are highly popular concepts in China. This Stand also utilizes martial arts, which Rin seems to engage in judging by his hero costume. 

BONUS: Kan Sekijirou / Vlad King - LOVE DELUXE

Love Deluxe is shown to be able to manipulate and restrain enemies using a bodily feature, similar to that of Vlad King’s Blood Control.

Written for Kaibara Sen’s birthday, June 12th. 

Word count: 1175

Kaibara is ten meters away when he sees the casualty, five meters away when he sees who it is, two meters away when the realization fully hits. His boyfriend lays in a pool of his own blood, a gaping hole ripped through his hero costume, and it doesn’t take for his feet to find their way next to him. “I…” Rin laughs feebly. “I fucked up.” Kaibara realises it’s the first time he’s heard him swear, but he doesn’t dwell on that thought for long. The metallic scent of blood grows stronger the closer he gets to him. “You did your best.” He removes his support guards, dialling in the emergency number he never thought he’d have to use so early in his career. “Does it hurt to breathe?” His breaths come in odd sucking sounds that definitely aren’t normal. “A little,” he admits, his strength slowly fading as Kaibara investigates the wound. “The villain escaped.”

“Don’t worry, I figured as much. Welder and Oxygon are on it.” He keeps the medics on the line, just in case of any sudden developments in his condition. “They’ll be here in three minutes. Do you need anything while you wait? Anything.” It’s a silly question— of course he needs help, and urgently— but he wants to feel useful. He doesn’t want to risk touching him with his dirt-caked hands, nor does he want to agitate the wound by moving to somewhere else. In simpler terms, he’s afraid. So afraid. Kaibara’s hands are made to break. They spin with the intensity of a 18 volt drill, stronger if he wills it to. He’s trained himself to shred flesh apart with a simple touch of his hands. Tsuburuba thinks it’s inhumane. Awase thinks it’s hot. Rin thinks it’s a necessary evil. He doesn’t really care what the others think, though. It’s his Quirk, his drawbacks, and his regrets to carry for the rest of his life. If he were not a hero, would he be the one watching as life drained out of Rin’s body with no remorse? Would he shed a tear at a life he knew nothing about? He does not know, and he fears the answers of the unknown. Rin’s grip is slack around his ankle, but he feels it nonetheless. “Do you… need anything?” His voice is barely a whisper, drifting through the alleyway. “Come on, sit down, we can talk about it.” Stupid, stupid, stupid. In the heat of the moment, he’s forgotten all about Rin’s injury. His mind screams at him for forgetting, but all that comes out is a low groan. “I don’t need you babying over me, Rin.” The last words are spat out in a momentary haze of rage, swallowed into the gloom of the silence. In the distance, he can hear a crow screech. “I didn’t- I didn’t mean it like that. You know I didn’t.” He hums, but with his injury, it sounds more like a low whistle. “Okay. Whatever you say.” The sound of sirens fill the air, and Kaibara’s glad he has an excuse not to talk to him. From the looks on Rin’s pallid yet determined face, he’s thinking the same thing. The ambulance pulls up less than a minute later, medics moving as quick as possible. One of them pulls Kaibara aside for some questioning, and he provides answers the best he can. Rin is seventeen years old, turning eighteen in a month. His blood type is A. No medical allergies to his knowledge. He also has no idea how long he’s been bleeding out for. The questions all mix together into mush in his mind, and when the officer finally asks if he would accompany him to the hospital, he nods mutely and is promptly ushered onto the ambulance. There’s action all around them as medics rush about the cramped space, handing each other wordless instructions and medical equipment. They’re in an oasis of their own, however. Serene, untouched, almost tragic. Rin answers a few questions asked by the staff and Kaibara sits on a cushioned bench next to his gurney. Their gazes meet briefly, but pull away like magnets of opposite poles. Kaibara doesn’t really care about the hustle and bustle, really. All he can see is Rin, his boyfriend, smaller than he’s ever seen him before, lying on a gurney with an oxygen mask on his face and medical tape across his wound. He leans forward, taking a limp hand into his own despite complaints from the paramedics. “You’re going to be alright.” His voice is low, almost thundering against his weak heartbeat. “It’s all going to be alright.” His apathetic gaze falters temporarily, amber eyes glassy and unfocused. “You promise?” Out of the corner of his eye, Kaibara can see a paramedic shake her head furtively at him. He’s not going to make it. “... Yes. I promise.” The short, even tones filling the ambulance slow down, barely keeping up with Rin’s wheezing breaths. “We should go out, when all this blows over. We’ll go to that seaside restaurant near Takoba, the one Kosei likes so much, and then we can take a walk on the beach together. We could even swim if the weather isn’t too bad, but I don’t want you all catching colds.” He’s rambling, running his mouth off, and he hates there isn’t anything he can do besides that. Rin is silent, motionless, before a pitiful whimper rings out. “I don’t want to go, Kaibara.” His fingers wind themselves around his own like tiny snakes, the startling coldness of his skin sending chills down Kaibara’s spine. It takes a bit for him to realize he isn’t talking about the beach. His throat hitches. “You’re not going anywhere. You’re here, with me.” Kaibara’s steel grip tightens on his wrist, and it takes a soft cry of pain from Rin to bring him back to his senses. “Shit, I love you, you can’t just- you-” Tears prick at the corners of his eyes, but he’s quick to smudge them away before they fall. Rin smiles, his consciousness flickering on and off. His voice is genuine as he voices his words. “I love you too.” For a second, the room seems to be devoid of the soulless beeping, but Kaibara soon realizes it’s the opposite.

His body reacts quicker than his mind does, a hoarse voice screaming for a medic, someone, please— but they’re already on the gurney, working their healing Quirks and pulling out apparatus Kaibara’s jumbled thoughts can’t make sense of. He watches with blown-up eyes as they tamper with his slack muscles, the gaping wound on his chest preventing the use of more traditional resuscitation methods.

After what seems like an eternity, the paramedics back away with grim faces, and he doesn’t need to be a professional to know their answer. They lay thick blankets of condolences onto him, but he doesn’t hear them. He’s gone, just like the hero in front of him. Lost to the winds.

He never really got to say sorry, did he?

A small, untitled Monowase drabble I wrote at around 1 am. Set after today’s BnHA episode, contains the bare minimum of spoilers.

Word count: 346

Monoma groans as Awase cleans out his head wound with a damp washcloth. “Smacking me upside the head with a stick? Really? I swear, if we weren’t dating, I would have found a way to do away with you, there and then. The only reason I haven’t done it to Kendou is because I care for her. Also, because she would deck me if I tried.”

Awase only grunts in response to his boyfriend’s spiel, carefully unwrapping a brand new roll of gauze. “Stop squirming around.” There’s an lingering silence between the two while he dresses the wound, only broken by the rustling of plastic and a sniff on Awase’s part. “... I said sorry. And you said my apology was, as I quote, ‘adequately mediocre’.” He ties off the ends of the gauze, the end result crudely resembling the checkered headband he always wore.

Monoma huffs, splaying himself on the couch with a dramatic flourish. He places himself gently, avoiding the boyfriend-induced bruise near his temple. “Well, that was what past me thought. Present me thinks you should do better.” He points towards the bandage on his head. “My head hurts. Do something about it.” 

Awase lays down next to him. “I’ve already wrapped it in all the gauze I could find. What more do you want? A kiss to make it all better?” Monoma arches an eyebrow judgmentally, and he sighs. “Of course, of course…” He places a soft kiss as light as butterfly wings onto the side of Monoma’s head. “Happy now, you needly bastard?”

“Mm...” Monoma blinks languidly, a plot hatching in that devious mind of his. “You know... I think my lips sort of ache as well.” Awase’s eyes squint in disbelief, before realisation dawns on his face. Oh, his boyfriend knows exactly what he’s doing. 

Their eyes meet for a fleeting second, and Awase can’t help but let out a loud snort. “I’m rescinding my previous kiss. I hate you so much.” Contrary to his harsh words, he leans in and gives Monoma a peck on the lips. “You’re welcome.”

Not genderbend stuff, but...Do y'all think Rin is the type of guy to dress up? Like even though we know almost nothing about him, he look like the type of guy to be perfectly fine wearing skirts, dresses, nail polish. I saw a post like this, it got me thinking.

Yes, definitely. I headcanon him to be gender non-conforming, with a ‘clothing isn’t inherently gendered and I don’t care what others think’ attitude.

I also feel like he’s the kind of guy that comes into class parties rocking a cocktail dress, high heels, and killer stiletto nails. One of the best-dressed in Class B, no cap.

sexuality/gender headcanon: I see Yanagi as a genderqueer lesbian (ae/aer or ze/hir pronouns; they/them auxiliary)

otp: ItsuReiko, YuiReiko, or for the best of both worlds, ItsuYuiReiko!

brotp: Ze doesn’t have many canonical interactions, but I think Shoda and hir got along pretty well in the Joint Training arc.

notp: Nothing much explicitly “NOPE NOPE NOPE” with aer, but I don’t see aer getting along with the more energetic members of the school like Tokage, Hatsume or Ashido.

random hc: Ze would be the person who loves making up horror stories or superstitions about U.A. and using them to scare other students. (On an unrelated note, there’s this manhole cover on campus no one dares to step on because word says it would do unspeakably horrific things to you... I wonder where that story came from...)

favorite pic of them: Though I loved Yanagi in the Joint Training arc, this frame from the Forest Training Camp really stood out to me. Maybe because it’s the first time I’ve heard aer voice?

Honenuki Juuzou ⏳

Headcanon A: Skilled at the piano, but mostly because his parents pushed him to learn a musical instrument. Usually acts as a musical accompaniment towards his more showy classmates like Monoma or Fukidashi.

Headcanon B: Honenuki is heavily lactose intolerant, but that doesn’t stop him from eating all the dairy products he can. His favorite snacks are vanilla ice cream and black forest cake, which he gets once every week, rain or shine.

Headcanon C: His parents, who both worked pro-heroes, were shunned and forgotten due to their ‘monstrous’ appearances. They taught him to hide his features as much as he can so he wouldn’t suffer the same fate as them. Honenuki knows a million ways to divert paparazzi attention and conceal his face if needed.

Headcanon D: He has a superb eye for fashion, and looks good in just about anything. However, his personal favourite is decora kei fashion just because of how bright and optimistic it looks. Has a wardrobe filled with rainbow-hued clothing, glittery accessories and more!

Kaibara Sen 🌪

Headcanon A: Kaibara is an avid ornithologist, and goes off birdwatching whenever Class 1-B have outdoor excursions. He’s taught himself to mimic bird calls just in case it ever comes in handy, but so far he’s done nothing with them.

Headcanon B: He types in ALL CAPS when texting, because he feels it accurately conveys his constant state of anger. Also abuses the bold and italic functions whenever possible.

Headcanon C: Kaibara’s father is a wanted villain who abandoned him and his mother at a young age. Though his mom never explicitly told him this, he once found a scrapbook of newspaper cutouts with photos and names circled in red ink, and managed to connect the dots.

Headcanon D: Mom friend, or whatever the male equivalent of that is. (Father friend? Dad friend?) Makes elaborate fruit platters for his classmates, reprimands them for not taking of themselves properly, and listens whenever there’s a crisis going on. Vice president of Class 1-B, and rightfully so.
