Hooray, we're back with the @cap-ironman Rec Week!

Today is all about Mawwiage.

I like my marriage fic when it's centred within the big tropes. Marriage of convenience, aliens made them do it, anything that creates a Situation. But there were a few surprises hidden in my bookmarks!

Tony is accused of murder on an alien planet; Steve marries him to bring him home.

You probably know this MCU fic already but y'know. Classic Situation I love to see them stumble into. Plus some interesting insight into the alien culture – they're not just a plot device.

Steve's been married to Tony for years when the Stamford disaster happens and the Superhero Registration Act tears the superhero community apart. When Tony disagrees with Steve, Steve still expects Iron Man to follow him: he's his best friend, for one, and he's chosen to keep his identity a secret from everyone. But Iron Man also fights against him.

And then Steve smashes his faceplate open.

What makes 616 Civil War angst even worse? 616 Civil War angst with identity porn and a Steve that's married to Tony.

Personally, I love any fic where I spend a fair portion of it shaking my head and mouthing "TONY" to myself. I'm writing one now where I'm doing just that. So this one is GREAT.

When Tony's life is in danger, Steve does the only thing he can do to save his teammate: he makes an honest man out of him. Steve and Tony's sham marriage is only supposed to be a blip in their history that no one has to know about. But when they're outed to the press, and with ghosts from his past coming to haunt him, Steve must come to terms with the idea that his own feelings for Tony might not be a lie.

Combining marriage of convenience and secret marriage with Ultimates and repressed homophobia, this fic is so very special to me. There's also art!

A mission gone south leaves a city block decimated and Iron Man hospitalized, but what makes top headlines is the fact that Captain America has a secret lover.

To the man himself, it's a living nightmare. His husband is in a coma, his entire world is falling apart around him, and Steve has to to confront realities he never wanted to.

Another wonderful magic fic about the Ults lads. Secret marriage. I love the contrast of the hospital and the story of them getting together.

Waking Up in Vegas (The Ultimate Wedding Remix) by naavan

If I had to choose, this Ults fic is my fave of the waking up married in las vegas fics that are out there. There's just something about Tony's laughter and the way Steve pieces it together.

The Opposite of a Problem by @sineala

"I promise to love, honor, and probably not obey you, and, uh, take you as my totally-unlawfully-wedded husband, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, until death do us part, or for at least the next seventy-two hours."

(Or: Tony and Steve get fake-married for the sake of the mission.)

Sometimes I just need a fic by Sine where she gets the V3 Avengers flavour of SteveTony together after making them pine a bunch. The aliens want to deal with a couple, so a couple they have to be. Whether they both had to pick out rings is debatable...

Nobody on the entire battlefield says a word as Pepper tells Tony he can rest now. Steve hears it all — the change in Tony’s breathing, the way it catches, falters, then stops. The Iron Man suit’s faint systems wind down into silence as the nano case loses its light. It all happens at once, and then, just like that, there is nothing left to listen to.

Steve blinks, and he’s no longer on the field. He’s in his bed, clean and uninjured.

Help Rey finally get out of Florida!

I wish I knew how to start this, but I don't. So here goes nothing ^^'

After being born and raised here, and living in FL all 27 years of my life, I finally have the chance to leave. I can honestly no longer afford to live in my home state, and the culture shift that has taken place over the past five years has destroyed my love and safety for her as a visibly queer person. I am moving to Illinois with a very wonderful friend, and will officially be out of state on July 21st!

The cost to move things, however, has been astronomical. Ironically doing the pod method was cheaper than a truck, but it is still... yowza!

I feel very guilty asking for help over what is objectively a good thing for me, but with my work hours being cut, my credit card bills being very high after struggling through 6 months of unemployment, and me getting run off the road on my scooter and breaking it which I was going to try and sell for some cash... really put a dent in my ability to save up.

Any money I get from this will go straight to my uhaul payment, and any money after will go to my half of rent and the security deposit. I do have a job lined up when I get to Illinois but this bill needs to be paid before then. We will be doing a meandery road trip to get up to Illinois to buy time for my stuff to arrive, but we will be keeping it cheap as we can, and none of the money I get from this will go to that. Only essentials.
