Waking in the dust somewhere in a circular room wasn't unusual for the heroes of the goddess but it was highly annoying. Wild groans as he sits up, shaking his head slowly as he pats himself down for any injuries. He doesn't remember much and it makes him stagger to his feet with wide eyes.
The hero opposite him in a green tunic and brown under sleeves rolls over with a wince. Hyrule licks the side of his mouth tasting blood, figuring he must've hit the ground hard. He pushes himself upwards as well just as Wild grasps his arms to aid him.
" Wild? Where -"
" I was hoping you could tell me, 'rulie," the hero of the wilds mumbles back as they both peer around the room. It's circular, made of old stone work and a few dainty looking crystals. On the floor in front of them is a pile of bones that make Wild tense.
The memory of the Spring and whatever it was that grabbed them comes to his mind and Wild exhales slowly. Hyrule picks up his shield that has fallen and it makes Wild tap his hip to find the Slate there too.
"Right well …we could climb out - there's a gap up there," Hyrule points out to the crack in the wall higher up. "I could blow it up, make it easier," Wild adds, taking the slate before looking up again. The walls curve the high the ceiling goes, Wild spots not easy ledge to hold onto.
"I dunno if I can get there, these walls look -"
A crunch of bone and a snap of jaws sound against their necks.
Whirling around, both heroes are subjected to the bones of a stalfos rebuilding itself. It's tall, two rib cages frame its body followed by four pairs of arms. For a moment, Wild could mistake it for a short hinox in a way before it screeches at them. Four blades, each long and covered with dried blood lash between it's fingers.
"Oh …well …this just got interesting -" Hyrule smiles awkwardly before pulling his sword free, mirroring Wild's stance. The champion narrows his eyes, dodging the first swing of the stalfos as Hyrule whips around and slices the first arm clean off. The monster screeches again, flailing before growling once more and attacks.
Wild grunts, raising his shield and parrying another blow, getting close enough to hack at another arm. Hyrule gets behind the stalfos and plunges his silver sword through it's ribs before slicing sideways. The boney monster collapses in a pile and Wild leaves a blue cube beside it before pushing Hyrule to the side wall as it detonates in a ping.
Bones fly, hitting the wall and clattering again, some snapped and some raining down in the dust. Between them, it was an easy fight especially with Wild's quick thinking.
"Phew. Nothing like a good wake up call huh?" Hyrule chuckles, dusting his arm off. as Wild chuckles beside him.
Meanwhile, the Skyloftian knight leads the charge through the tunnels . Most of what was the first dungeon is rotted, broken and unrecognisable to him but his feet are certain.
"Are you sure we're going - ah!" Wind jerks back as a small flock of keese turn from their hanging position, their big eyes blinking at them before they unfurl their wings. The sailor adjusts himself and whips out his sword just as the captain smites the little flying buggers .
"Ugh…keese." Wars mutters, nudging their fallen wings before putting Wind's back. "Eyes peeled, sailor, right?". Wind nods, but decides to keep his sword tight in his hand. He glances at the hourglass symbol a few times before shrugging it off .
"We're going the right way. It's just up ahead, watch your footing." Sky announces calmly as he steps forwards to where a crack in the wall, the door should be here he figures. After a moment of walking, the area suddenly brightens up enough to see the dome in the centre of a wide room. A golden dome, a massive crack at one end and a broken crystal ahead of them.
"Are you gonna explain that werdio back there?" Legend mutters as he steps downwards, inspecting the dome with curiosity yet his gaze is hardened.
Sky inhales deeply. "I already did, a sword spirit."
"Yeah but you know what I mean." Legend retorts despite Time's arched brow at the younger hero.
"…it's difficult to explain. I fought him a good four or so times, he always thought he was better. He served Demise with powerful devotion, he stole Zelda from my very arms and manipulated her soul for Demise to eat. Ghirahim is nothing but a pawn. He follows the strongest," A revelation crosses Sky's features but he doesn't add it, thinking it delusional.
Legend straightens up and rubs his palms together as he gazes at the dome. He can't hear much other than the scuttles of spiders and the flutter of keese.
"Right. Where then -"
An explosion rocks the ground, blue sparks fading just as a quick as they arrive from what seems to be inside the dome. Twilight's face lights up at the sight, his eyes darting around for his friend as he rushes forwards. Approaching the dome, it still feels intact though weak.
" Wild! Can you hear me! Wild! Rulie!" Twilight pounds on the wall with one fist, gritting his teeth together.
"Come on, we gotta get that wall down. Who's got bombs to spare?"
Legend's hand raises along with Twilight's before Time rummages in his own pockets and bag.
"Can't they climb out?" Wind questions, looking at the cracked opening at the top of the dome. "Likely it's too steep for Wild to get a foothold … I'm not sure how -"
Another blue explosion almost launches Twilight and Legend backwards, the crack widens further and debris falls on either side.
"Lunatic!" Legend shouts, grumbling to himself as he staggers. There's a familiar laugh inside the dome.
"Ledge? That you? We're inside! Wild's trying to blast a hole in the dome -"
" Hyrule! You're alive, thank the goddess … yeah we're gonna try to blow it down, get away from this side," Legend shouts back, perking up at the sound of the other Link. Time steps forwards, a blue mouse looking item in his hands.
" Boys, step back!"
Time attached the mouse to the wall, ushering the others away before he nods to the sailor. Wind knocks a fire arrow, aiming and loosing the arrow.
The dome crumples. Surrounded by the debris, Hyrule had thrown a magic shield around the two of them whilst Wild held his shield up over their heads. Twilight is the first to rush over, picking his feet over the rock and slabs of granite to grab Wild by the shoulders.
" What have I said about wandering off-" the shape shifter grits out, shaking the champion slightly who laughs. " Yeah yeah, never stray too far from the pack. We're fine, promise." Wild smiles and tucks his shield on his back again. Twilight exhales and manages a smile in return before grasping Wild in a headlock to ruffle his blond hair. The champion grunts and laughs throughout it.
Soon once everyone is all on their own two feet, eye drift to Sky again who is staring around the shattered dome and the aged ruins of the Skyview temple. Four adjusts their footing, approaching the first hero quietly, gazing up at the ruins quietly and soaking it up .
"It must've been beautiful,". They say after a moment.
Sky nods slowly.
" It was haunting if anything. I never really stopped to look at it other than a tool, a stepping stone, to get me to her."
Four nods, one hand on their hip as they breath in deeply. The dust has settled and now all that's left are questions and a sudden change in the air.
"Do you think he's going to be an issue?"
Sky exhales and nods once more, eyes focusing on the doorway ahead that leads to the next area of the ruined temple.
Hi so um ... I won't and have no been around for a highly traumatic medical reason . I'm not gonna dive too deep but I am awaiting emergency surgery along with a bunch of other shiz and apparently my doctors don't have their head on straight these days so it's been tough trying to get my care sorted. I shall be back soon I hope ! I will likely be writing and editing fics when I'm in recovery or so I hope ^^
