Because everyone deserves a good drama to pass the time while waiting for more Goblin and there’s only so much Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim to go around.

Goblin

It took approximately half of episode 1 for me to get back on that particular bandwagon. I have to keep reminding myself we’re only two episodes in. This is a drama I want to take home and introduce to my parents. My expectations officially could not be any higher so only disappointment awaits I’m trying to temper my excitement and just enjoy what is only the second drama to really sweep me off my feet this year - second and not third because I was a Dr. Kim skeptic until I caught him in action for the first time last night (so late, I know). But Goblin is a whole different beast of a drama than I’m used to, on parr with how structurally sound Cheese in the Trap began and so, soo engrossing (hopefully through the entirety of it’s run) in an entirely different way than the swoony, though not-entirely-lifelike way of more standard fare such as...

It’s such a first love and love-at-first-sight drama for me - I feel like I’m watching Pasta or Master’s Sun or My Princess for the first time again. Does that make sense? Not all of those dramas have aged well with me but they’re the addictive genre-bending romances that made me really fall in love with Korean television. Where have you been, you wonderful, delicious, bread-and-butter of Korean dramas? This year has been so bleak and lonely without you. And on that note, excuse me while I feverishly reexamine the entire backlog of the Romantic cast. Happy holiday viewing, friends!
