Guess what time it is?! Yup, you guessed it (maybe) I’m doing another review of a Zero Waste company. A couple months ago I was putting together a video of easy Zero Waste swaps and instead of reaching for my very trusted LUSH shampoo and conditioner bars I decided to go local. I came across Beach Babe on Etsy and I fell in love with their products. I sent off a message to the owner and she was kind enough to send me these products to test out in exchange for my opinion on them. Now before we get into it let me say this, I will never bs my opinion to make others happy on this blog because I think it’s important to be honest with you guys so that you can get the most bang for your buck and not waste your hard earned money.
Now that the back story is done, lets get down to business. Christy from Beach Babe was super kind enough to send me three different types of shampoo and conditioner bars and two different hand creams. These are NOT completely Zero Waste with the stickers on them but you can ask for them without them and I’m sure she would be more than happy to send them without the stickers. The hand cream doesn’t come in a plastic bottle but instead it comes packaged in aluminum (I think???) which isn’t plastic YAY but I do not think it’s good for the environment either.
I got the shampoo and conditioner bars in three different scents; Almond Coconut, Lime Coconut, and Sunkissed. AND THE SCENTS ARE DIVINE. I am a scent freak and I love smelling good and I have a special spot in my heart for anything that reminds me of summer scents like suntan lotion etc. which the Sunkissed and the Beach Babe hand cream remind me of so so so much. I have already used up the entire tube of Beach Babe hand cream and it left my hands so soft and scented and not to mention that a little goes a long way and I plan on purchasing it again in the future.
My shampoo and conditioner bar are still going at the moment and that’s 3+ months after I started using them and I expect them to last me at least another month before I have to use another one. The scent I am using now, Almond Coconut, is a simple//sweet//earthy smell and I am digging it. The scent doesn’t last too long after you get out of the shower which isn’t a big deal to me but my mom still comments on how good it smells when I give her a hug so it still must be somewhat there. For those who do not know, I only wash my hair twice a week so that might be why this is lasting me so long. It lathers up super well and makes my hair feel super clean. I use it like I would any other shampoo bar by wetting my hair and the bar and rubbing it all over my head then taking my hands and massaging it into my scalp and hair for a good minute or so then rinsing it out thoroughly. The conditioner bar is a little different; do NOT get it anywhere near your scalp it will make your hair oily very fast which is true with almost any other product. I like to wet the conditioner bar and my hair and work it into my ends only and bringing it up about 4-6 inches from my roots. I let it sit there while I’m washing my body then I rinse it out and get out of the shower.
Now let’s get onto the ratings 1-10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 meaning it was BOMB AF:
Zero Waste: 7...while you can get the shampoo and conditioner bars Zero Waste by asking mine didn’t come like that and the hand cream has packaging that cannot be reused but the potential is there
Scent: 9... the only reason why it is not a 10 is because I wish the scent lingered a little longer after my hair dried but it doesn’t really and I have no idea if that’s even something you can change.
How Long It Lasts: 6...I feel like it has only lasted me this long because I wash my hair twice a week instead of daily or every other day. This isn’t a problem for me but compared to my LUSH bars which lasted me over half a year this definitely isn’t as long but still a decent amount of time.
Effects on Hair: 8...my hair always feels super clean when I wash it with this product and I have not noticed any type of build up which is hella good. The reason this is an 8 and not any higher is because you have to be careful when it comes down to using the conditioner because if you get it anywhere near your roots your hair will be an oily mess which isn’t a huge deal but can be a lil frustrating.
Overall Rating: 7.5... this is the mean of all the ratings put together (yay I learned something I could actually use in math class). I would recommend this product overall but take what I said into consideration especially when it comes down to your hair type and what you want out of your hair products.
