Three Things Learned

Everyday we meet people who know things that we don't, and who don't know things that we do. This is a selection of three things I've learned each day. Some of it is personal, some of it is world-based. What have you learned today?

I started this up in July of 2013 while reading through the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series. No One is supposed to report three things she’s learned everyday to the House of Black and White, and I felt inspired to do the same.

It has been challenging to pay attention every single day, and many times I learned mundane things about situations specific to me, but I also learned plenty about the world. It encouraged me to seek out more information too, if I felt that on a given day I wasn’t being exposed to enough new things.

At its most popular, there were 70 followers here. I was pleased that so many strangers wanted to know what I would be learning. I hope I was able to share a thing or two on my journey.

Now, though, after a year of posting, I’m ready to stop. I’ve had my fun and I’m ready to move onto different projects.

If I learn something extraordinary I will most likely post it here, so I may pop in again in the future.

1. Holding down the power button for the PS3 (while in standby mode) for 5-10 seconds will reset it to AV output if it has previously been set to HDMI and needs to be switched back.

1. It’s pronounced gay-lick (Gaelic) when it’s Irish Gaelic, and pronounced gal-ick (Gaelic) when it’s Scottish Gaelic.

2. Scotland has different laws than the US in that production companies aren’t allowed to block off public areas for filming shows and movies. This results in people being allowed to walk straight into set areas during filming.

3. A paperback set of the Song of Ice and Fire series is available for purchase at Costco for just $29.99.
