When the time came to you getting stabbed, through the hazy recollection, I can recall rushing to the Huetra Memorial Hospital and being denied access to see you. Their response was that you were in surgery. Getting a blood transplant is what I overheard and I pleaded with any powerful being listening to save you, to give you another chance. That dreadful memory is when I felt fear, being terrified of losing the person who became most important to me as a friend and lover. My body went stiff, fingers clenched, knuckles white, holding back tears, still constantly switching between praying and cursing out the damn Cerebrus agent. What the fuck kind of weapon choice is that on the battlefield?
I couldn't stay still in the waiting room, I tried everything to get you a lung transplant, pulling any strings I could, hell I thought Shepard could pull some. Even so I was reminded each and every fucking time again that there was nothing anyone could do. And my gods did that feel like a punch to the gut. I had this feeling I haven't quite felt before, the rising and falling of my chest, having to clutch at my shirt, and count down from any number I got in my head.
It hurt so fucking much, the cursed heartache, the thought of losing someone so amazing to this damned wound. The doctor pulled me aside before walking in, saying that Koylat gave you blood but it wasn’t enough, that you had already lost too much when you arrived. The wails of hurt I swallowed before going into your hospital room.
The happiness of you being at peace etched into my mind and sculpted my face into a heart-warming smile. The smile I knew you saw through from the moment I entered, graciously you did not mention. I wonder if you knew how I felt, did my emotions end up showing on my face before you departed? Why did you not let me help you prior? Why would you take the breathing mask off? Why did you take him on by yourself? Why couldn't you give me a little more time? These questions I can never get an answer to but I know that you were content with your life and wanted to do some good before leaving, which you successfully did.
I held on to your hand till the end, even after saying the prayers with Koylat and hearing the last breath you took. I still held on to some damn fucking hope that a miracle would happen but nothing happened and the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do was walk away from you. Leaving you alone in a hospital bed is something I know deep down you hate. I wish I took you to the beach to pass on. We would watch the sunset together and listen to "Beyond the sea". I wanted to be the most selfish person in the world with you but you had just got Koylat back so I knew you needed to make up for lost time. As much as work took you away from your family, you honored your work ethics and I vowed to do the same. You changed me in so many ways than one, damn you Krios.
The email you left me on my comms channel is what caused me to release all my emotions I was holding back. I was sitting in the very room we fell in love in, while I read your last goodbye. I wailed on, having to stop, wiping the tears that ran down my face. I had to stop completely at one point because your words tore me to shreds, I know you wanted to bring me peace in your passing as well but Thane Krios, you buried yourself into my heart and you will always stay there, no one could take what we had and turn it into something more.
And those damned videos you tried to send to me, but the fucking Alliance had to restrict them. I was so hot-headed when I found out but grateful to Koylat that I had to vent to someone because a person at the Alliance Headquarters was going to get throat punched. I miss you a lot, Krios. I miss your voice, the way you called my name, the touch of your hands, the feeling of your skin, including the adrenaline rush I got when we fought side by side.

Clearly, spoilers are in this, so please watch the episodes leading up to it. If you're fine with spoilers, then continue reading! I am going to be swapping scenes from the episode into my writing just so it fits. The age requirement here is 21. You have to be legal to drink, but I have no set age. Chase has an Australian accent, and I tried using a website to help put the accent in here, but I don’t like it, so if you would kindly read his words with his accent, thank you!
Summary: You attend the Chairman of the Board wedding with your co-workers. For the longest time, you have been pinning over the head of the oncology department: James Wilson. Unfortunately, you've never found the right time to say anything. Yet this specific night changed for the worse.
The wedding reception is packed with tons of people as you enter. As you scan the room, you recognize a small number of faces. The rest are blurred faces you’ll forget by the end of the night. As you make your way through the waves of people, you see everyone you know. Glancing towards the dance floor, there is Taub and his wife. His wife, Rachel, seems to be enjoying herself as seen by her dancing. On the other hand, Taub is not dancing at all, awkward but not surprising, considering everything going on between them. Your eyes follow along the dance floor and stop upon Cuddy and House. They are talking while dancing with one another. Her face reflects how the tone of it is, clearly it’s not going well. You decided to move along and away from the dance floor, not much of a dancer anyway. You peel your eyes away, taking time to glance towards the bar area. There, you spot the two singles. You make your way towards them, greeting them both.
“Hey guys, how’s it going?” You stand on the left of Foreman with Chase being on his right side, noticing drinks in their hands already.
“I am trying to get Foreman here to come with me to pick up some hot chicks by the chocolate fountain.” Chase responds.
Foreman adds on “He was just upstairs with some other girl, weren’t you?”
“Yes, but it wouldn’t have happened if not for you buddy!” He says, smiling and giving a pat on Foremans shoulder. You let out a small laugh and shake your head at his words and at Foreman's scrunched eyebrows expression confused if not concerned for his “buddy”.
“I think you need this Foreman, allow Chase to be your wingman for the night instead. He is clearly great at getting ladies to go with him.” You encourage him, as you're trying to wave the bartender down for a drink.
“I didn’t come here to get laid” He rebuttals with. Chase assures him with “Then don’t. Talking to beautiful women isn’t nearly as fun as watching Taub not talking to his wife.” He takes a sip from his drink as he begins walking away from the bar.
“I think you should still go. Like he said, it is better than waiting for the inevitable to happen. You know you want to.” You say as you sip your drink you manage to order while he and Chase were talking. “What is the worst that can happen?” He stays silent for a moment. His face tells he’s considering the decision. He then nods, making his choice known. You wish him luck as he walked in the same direction Chase went.
You sigh to yourself, you’re alone with a drink in hand, you take in the atmosphere, still darting your eyes from different sections of the place, hoping you spot him. You glance back at the dance floor, only to catch Rachel walking away from Taub, so you glance away and flicker your eyes towards the chocolate fountain where the boys are. A few minutes pass, and you see Foreman heading back your way.
As he approached the bar again, he asked, “Do you know what a “bra” is?” You smile at his question, your furrow brows in confusion, your head slightly tilting to the side.
“Clothing or something else? Because I believe you know what the clothing is. What are you doing back here?” You respond jokingly. Foreman catches the bartender's attention and orders some drinks.
“The drinks are on the bra. That is what Chase called me and referred to me as his boss in front of the two women.” He informs you about the conversation he had at the fountain.
You decide to take another look towards the dance floor and see no one there, so you scan the surrounding area and see Taub walking away from his wife this time. As you look the other way, you notice Cuddy walking away from House. As you turn back to Forman, you notice a certain tipsy Australian walking out of the reception with two ladies under each of his arms who distinctly look like the women from the fountain. You softly nudge Foreman with your elbow, catching his attention and nod your head in the direction of Chase. You mutter an apology and decide to leave him alone for a bit.
You walk around a bit more, still hanging around the dance floor. Watching the newlyweds slow dance and just past them, you finally see him. James, you noticed his girlfriend or his ex-wife, who is now his girlfriend, both watching the newlyweds as well. Quite confusing their relationship is, but they’re talking, so you turn your attention to the dance floor, waiting for the right moment to talk to them. As you dissociate from the party, previous interactions and feelings flicker in place regarding the oncologist.
The time you began to fancy James was when he was freshly divorced from his third wife. Yet you squashed your feelings at the time, seeing as though was not the right time. With the gracious help of your old coworker Cameron, she kept you in the loop since you were not a doctor of House’s diagnostic team. Months had passed before your feelings towards that charming brunette resurfaced. You would bring him little things to cheer him up, such as coffee, or a new sandwich since House was always stealing his food. You would compliment his ties, his outfits, scarfs, and write positive things on sticky tabs, then leave them in his office. One time, you two were passing one another through the hospital halls, and you embarrassingly complimented his lab coat.
You tried to ask him out before, many, many times before, there was always something blocking you from achieving that date. Such as House finding out, work getting in the way, not following through, and just House in general. Him finding out would be your worst nightmare. You would not be able to live it down. The day you were going to actually ask him out was the day you found out he started dating Amber. Which followed with words were being thrown around about her, the most commonly used one was “manipulated bitch” which House used a lot before she was kicked out of the program to be on House’s diagnostic team. You personally never had a vendetta on any of the women whom Wilson was dating or married in the past. You encouraged the relationship, no matter how much it hurt, you went about your life, knowing you lost your chance but still held on to hope. You'd hope that the chance would come to tell him how you felt even with a rejection at the end of the conversation. Dreaming that maybe he would feel the same. After Amber passed, you couldn’t bring yourself to tell him. You knew your feelings could wait a bit longer until he was doing better. You still helped him as much as you could without being overbearing. Sending simply morning texts, checking in on him in his office every other day, or simply sending a text to check in. You made sure to spread out what you did and left him to grieve.
Once House was released from the psychiatric hospital, he stayed with Wilson. After a while, they moved from Amber’s old apartment into a loft that Cuddy wanted. More time had passed, and you needed to talk to someone about how you were feeling and clear your head. Coincidentally, the hospital was on lockdown, everyone was instructed to stay where they were, you were in the break room, so focused as much as you could on your work. The lockdown ended. On the way to the floor you worked on, you bumped into Thirteen and spilled to her everything you were feeling. As much as you don’t like to admit it, she became your substitute for Cameron because she was the only woman on House’s Diagnostic Team. You decided not to tell the boys because they would immediately spill, as much as they don't like to admit it. Thirteen then has this apologetic look on her face and tells you what she and Wilson talked about in the cafeteria. He was trying to reconnect with his freshly divorced ex-wife, Sam, her encouragement about telling him to call her, and apologized. You told her not to worry about it, she had no idea and that you would like it, if nobody knew.
In present times, Thirteen had left the team, and either she didn’t tell or the guys were great at hiding their opinions about this. Although, you really do believe that she took it to the grave, and for that, you're eternally grateful.
You looked back at the couple, noticing James beginning to stand up. You slowly make your way over. You stop completely once you see him moving his chair a bit behind him. It is as if the world is moving very slowly, as you watch him drop to one knee, talking to her as he pulls out a ring box from his pocket, opening it for Sam to see. A beautiful ring is shown, her face lighting up instantly, smiling widely. The way he looks at her as he holds the box towards her with hopeful eyes. Wishing it was you he looked at that way. Wishing that you had that courage to tell him how you felt for him. Wishing that he would at least attempt to look your way. Wishing that you could take back all those late nights you had spent helping him with work. You turn your face away, trying to concentrate on anything else in the room.
You can not help but feel your heart pounding out of your chest, your feet grown extremely cold, your body completely frigid by the scene you witnessed. Sweating hands tightly gripping the glass, the tightening of your throat, short breaths inhaled and exhaled, glossy faces of people passing by you. Feeling the weight of everything crashing down, the hurt you could no longer endure. Realization settling in that you could never be with James Wilson. It clearly has been proved time and time again.
You admit defeat, you quickly make your way towards any exit, head slightly down, leaving the glass anywhere, you did not care, you needed to get away from the place. You waited too long for something that was never there.

Context- You both have been together since senior year of high school, aw high school sweethearts! Pushing through all the hard work, arguments, and fun moments throughout the years of being together. 6 years to be exact, and you have dropped subtle hints about marriage, even flat out asked if married was going to happen, yet no initiative had been taken. He told you that he wasn't opposed to it but was simply occupied to put much thought into it. So you decided that you would just pop the question on him!
Marriage for him was the last thing on his mind. It’s not because he didn’t want to marry you. He loved you truly. He always brought you some gifts when he went traveling. You have tried to sit down and talk about it, but Kōtarō would pay no mind and brush it off by saying- “Hm? Oh, can we discuss this later? I have to go meet up with Akaashi.” That was the last time you had tried to talk about it. Two weeks have passed, and you’ve started thinking that he didn’t want to get married.
Little did you know, he has been asking Akaashi for advice. He had a little mental breakdown when you first brought it up, and over the course of two weeks, he was ready. He panicked multiple times, and he kept going between feeling downhearted to feeling confident. He had kept you completely in the dark, so you were left to think.
He took you to your favorite restaurant, and he was super nervous. His palms were sweating, fumbling with some objects on the table, he kept moving his leg up and down, and his words were a stuttering mess. His behavior raised suspicion to you and would ask him if he was doing okay. He tried to reassure you that he was, but his plan failed successfully. You still kept your eye on him and tried to help him out a little bit.
During one of the conversations Kō had with Akaashi, he suggested that Kōtarō take you to a park since it’ll most likely be secluded. After paying for everything and leaving a tip for the server, he took your hand in his and led you on a walk. After walking around, he took you to a bench with lights illuminating the both of you and away from any wandering figures.
With both of you sitting, he was still jittery, so you grabbed his hand to try to console him and asked “Are you sure you’re okay?” He nodded because he didn’t trust his words. “Kōtarō, could you listen to what I’m going to say without interrupting?” In a soft whisper, he responded “yes” and you held his hand tighter.
Making eye contact with him as you take a deep breath and say “I love you so much…it has been an amazing six years of being together, and uhm, I understand that you have been busy. But I, uh, want to ask” You looked away for a split second. “Where is this relationship going? I want to marry you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I’ve been wanting to for quite a while, and to me, it seems that you don’t want to or at least don’t care about it. I want a relationship where we get married and have children. I want those things with you so…” You slid off the bench and put your knee on the cement and took both his hands in yours.
Starring in his loving eyes, you softly asked, “Will you, Bokuto Kōtarō, please allow me the honor to ask you to marry me?” He teared up and responded with “of course, but I also had an entire speech planned as well.” Both of you stared at each other, staying silent for a moment then bursting into laughter. After the sound of joy died down and wiping away tears, you were the first one to speak, letting go of his hands, and sitting back on the bench “So …that’s why you were nervous this entire evening.
