R&G Mini + MMX = Full Circle
Who’s sad Romy books are over? Yeah, me too. But let’s relish in how blessed we were in 2018 and 2019, shall we?
As I read the final panels of the final issue of MMX #12 - I came to the realization that Rogue felt the confidence in her relationship with her new husband that Remy’s always had in regards to their relationship (the one she always seemed to lack).
In the Rogue and Gambit Mini issue #4 - Rogue has a moment where she is scared they will lose what they have finally re-discovered.
Remy simply tells her that they just have to make sure they do hold on to what they have.
Forward to MMX Issue #12:
Remy was reflecting and dealing with all sorts of feelings brought up by being back “home” in New Orleans…
he starts to have a smidgen of doubt and Rogue comes right in to apologize to him for all of the times he’s had to prove himself to her.
In these final panels it was refreshing to see Rogue as confident as Remy was back in the R&G Mini. This is another fine example as to why these two are so great together. The amount of emotional growth Kelly Thompson gave to Rogue is pretty astounding. Not just with the figuring out of her powers which of course was MONUMENTAL but to see her have that love and confidence with Gambit is such a wonderful thing.
I’m incredibly sad that their duo book is over but I’ll cherish how much they’ve grown together as individuals and as a couple on their journey into marriage. I have to end this post with the final frame of their book.
Hopefully some future writer will respect the hard work that Kelly gave to these two and leave them at peace for as long as we can hope for.
