There is no way these sharks would be there if they haven’t been fed.Â
Feeding wildlife is unbelievably damaging. If they are eating the food you provide, they aren’t eating what they would normally eat. You are effectively removing them from the food web. And with an apex predator like a shark, you can be sure that the effects resonate all the way through the web.
In essence, you alter that ecosystem. Stop it. It’s naughty.Â
Do as the nice lady says and she won’t kill the child.

The Blue Hana Goby (Ptereleotris hanae) is a Dartfish from the Pacific. Dartfishes are a family, Ptereleotridae, of goby-like fishes in the order Perciformes (see this post). They are saltwater fish. The gobies form the family Gobiidae, which is one of the largest families of fish, with more than 2,000 species in more than 200 genera. Most are relatively small, typically less than 10 cm (4 in) in length. Gobies include some of the smallest vertebrates in the world,

We’ve all seen macrophotography of insects before, but never quite like this. These are photos of bugs after they’ve been peeled off the windshield of a car.
Photographer Voker Steger describes his method:
“The speed is important. The right speed is about 70km/h (43 mph). Flies that get hit by a car at that speed look like fallen angels in the electron microscope.”
Newly Discovered in Suriname:Â Armoured Catfish et al.
Conservation International (CI) announced, on Jan. 24, 2012, results from a three-week survey in southwest Suriname that documented nearly 1,300 species, including 46 species that may be new to science. Called the Rapid Assessment Program (RAP), the survey explored three remote sites along the Kutari and Sipaliwini Rivers near the village of Kwamalasumutu from August to September 2010, in an effort to document the region’s poorly known biodiversity and help develop sustainable ecotourism opportunities for the local people. Shown here, a catfish species (Pseudacanthicus sp.) whose armor (external bony plates) is covered with spines. The armor likely protects the fish from the huge piranhas in the Sipaliwini River where it lives. The river it lives in is full of huge piranhas, so it must be well defended. One of the local guides was about to snack on this fish, until the experts preserved it as a scientific specimen… [Read full story] (Photo: Philip Willink)

SHERLOCK BUSINESS CARD GIVEAWAY
when i was the Sherlock Holmes museum in Baker Street on Friday.. i picked up 10 of these snazzy business cards! .. and i’ve wanted to do a small giveaway for ages.. (but can’t because the postage to actually SEND anything is stupidly expensive)Â
SO. I’m keeping three of the cards for friends and myself, BUT I’M GIVING THE OTHER 7 AWAY! .. i know it’s not a very extravagant giveaway.. but it’s all i can afford! Plus these little cards are from the official 221B Baker Street itself! And lets be serious, who wouldn’t want one of these cuties? :DÂ
SO! Here are the rules! ..
you DON’T have to be following me.. but my blog is mostly centered around Sherlock, so since you’re a fan too.. i’d really appreciate it!  ^^ izzibella.tumblr.com
this is INTERNATIONAL .. because they are so small i’m pretty sure i can afford to send them anywhere!
to enter, just like OR reblog this post! .. you can do both if you’d like.. it honestly doesn’t matter! As long as your URL shows up on the Notes list, then you’re entered!
these business cards are ORIGINAL. I didn’t just get 1 and then photocopy them! Each one is from 221B Baker Street itself, collected by me when I visited London on Friday!
if you have any questions on this, please don’t be afraid to ASK!
this giveaway ends on.. hm.. lets say the 15th of February! That’s plenty of time, right? :)
ENJOY, EVERYONE! :D
