Thatās almost certainly the Sheraton Grande Sukhimvit making an appearance in To My Shore as the Chinese company shot much of the series in Bangkok to get around PRC BL hassles.
This scene is a company business meeting and is right after a discussion about seating & status. Brought back memories of my time in Beijing when I was working for a US university collaborating with Chinese institutions. In every meeting, our staff sat on one side of the table and theirs on the other, in accordance with habit & status.
One time, we were holding a friendly follow-up collaboration meeting, three on three and everybody knew one another. I was feeling a little mischievous and after my colleagues seated themselves on one side of the table, I took a seat across from them as the Chinese universityās staff was filing into the room. Eyebrows raised, but everyone went with the flow⦠until five minutes into meeting when the other universityās leader asked if we could change to the usual seating arrangement.
"I don't know when you'll stop being mad at me, but I want to draw you right now." "Can you draw me like you draw Koh?"
The entire rage room scene, beginning to end, was one of my favorite BL seems ever. So raw and honest.
I first noticed Marut Charoensub in Heart Killers when he played a sleazy businessman picking Khaotung out of a rentboy lineup. That guy has good taste in men, I thought. But spoiler alert⦠donāt get too attached to him.
Then he showed up as the butler in Burnout Syndrome. And at one of the Thee and Me hotels as a happier butler.
But donāt think heās being typecast. Heās also been a teacher in Jack and Joker and a court official named Chet in That Summer.
His instagram account since September has been named mandekiller_new and has photos of his rabbit.
The other day I was playing songs from my YouTube Music liked list and I came across a song where I was the only one whoād liked it. None of the bandās friends or family⦠just me.
Anyway, I was thinking that a cool part of a Japanese BL series plot would be that a guy has a song on a platform with only one like. Sometimes, he checks it and there are zero likes. Thatās when he knows his boyfriend is mad at him. Since theyāre Japanese, they never talk about it, of course.
And then one day, his song has two likes and the boyfriend gets soooooo jealous!
I know Iāve said this before, but⦠OMG!
Does any other country get the details right like Japan does?
OMG
If not for a damp towel applied by his boyfriend Wave, Lava probably would have lost his foot.
What's wrong with you?
ā· PIT BABE THE SERIES 2 Ā· Episode 6
Willy is so good-looking that sometimes I forget to read the subtitles.
chris: pete, baby, sex partner we are in a thai BL
Me: Would like to thank Thai BL for realizing how sexy men's legs are, specifically this man's.
Also me: I can not WAIT to see him on my screen in high heals
This is how I prefer all my houseguests to dress.
And if you borrow my short and want to return it, do me a favor⦠donāt wash it.
The scream I just scrumpt!
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Well . . .
fuck me and my sanity
Canāt say enough about boyfriends who know how to accessorizeā¦
me reading posts from people who think Babe is actually gonna cheat on Charlieš¤Ø
If Pitbabe were my boyfriend, I wouldnāt be the least bit nervous if he cheated. Except for Charlie, he hates his sex partners.
Something really sexy about that.
I swear Iām trying to finish this episode but when Chian consulted ChatGPT for relationship advice I became so paralyzed with horror that Iām having trouble moving on
I mentally track how series handle our online lives. Western shows generally pretend it doesnāt exist, but Asia is better. Gelboys is the first series Iāve seen where ChatGPT was mentioned and where a character used AI to turn an image into a video.
Social media and texting are a significant % of the dialogue in Gelboys, with body language and facial expressions telling us the rest of what we need to know.
ok let me have my smart ass moment for once and use my 7,5 years of art schools
the scene that got me in "ooOHOUH š«µ" and wanting to kiss cinematographer on the mouth was this one:
all of the boys are out of school and as usual heading to snack stands. chian is in the middle of the scene between choices/ options.
this scene is amazing use of rule of thirds (i love using this one when i work on my artworks lmao; to those unfamiliar it's basically a composition rule based around golden ratio and in order to draw your eyes to important stuff you put the important stuff more less were the line cross (so for example faces/eyes) but also you divide scene to fit in those rectangles to create nice and balanced compostion - see the picture below; i generally do the rule of thirds by hand/eye so they aren't very correct but i was complemented on nice compostion multiple times so)
and also cleaver use of red as accent colours to draw our eyes even more
also rather simple note but amount of layering is š¤ā
3 layers + background may not seem like a lot but when watch dramas and are a cinematography junkie like me you will notice how many dramas will choose just 1 layer + background (ofc not every scene needs endless amount of layers but especially in gelboys it adds to the overall maximalism of the whole series).
another scene that also caught my eye during ep 3 was this one:
rule of thirds and the sheer dominance of lines is just amazing.
soon after we get this scene:
baabin being obvious third wheel. again we got rule of thirds to draw our attention to baabin, despite 4mod and chian being there. (extra points for the red double decker in background :P it very much wasn't intentional the way they filmed all of it but it draws our attention to baabin even more).
and i really liked this scene too, it looks really nice for same reasons i mentioned earlier
This serious of shots stand out, but I felt every scene in Gelboys shouted for my attention.
He was so real for this.
Thank you sir!
We need to stop glamorizing jobs and making people feel that they need to find their dream job or they're somehow missing out. Sometimes a job is just paycheck and that's okay. You don't have to find your passion or whatever.
why is noone talking abt the fact that change really turned the home of the greatest racer in thailand into a basil restaurant and somehow both times there was concerning amounts of sex happening in there????
Production should change its name to Heath Code Violators LTD
Weād all just nod
Iād watch a series about a U.S. health code inspector who goes to Southeast Asia and details the violations while heās slurping up the local fare and thinking out loud about tomorrowās possible stomach maladies.
