Okay I love how in Letters from Ketterdam: A Darker Shore that you can tell when Kaz realizes the letters are being intercepted. Like the previous letter is so much more vulnerable? The whole section about the farm and wanting Inej to come visit it? And after this we are on Club Cumulus paper and there’s a less sentimental, less effusive, more to the point and typical Kaz flippantness to the remaining letters. We were robbed by the Merchant Council and their interceptions.
[recommending something i sincerely love] ok so the thing about it is it kinda sucks

It’s a high stress environment! Sometimes you just need your coworker to hold your hands for a bit…
a while ago i read a comment that said they didn’t understand why people ship mel and langdon if they have a friendship like sherlock and watson………..what the hell sure
mel, excitedly talking about the ren faire: and this is my alter ego. she’s a seventeenth-century frenchwoman and —
langdon, so horny he’s about to pass out: does she need a revolutionary war soldier lover
Langdon and Santos having the same taste in people (Garcia, Mel) has to be the greatest thing ever. I KNOW they hate that shit
in general I find that "why did someone behave this way" is almost always answered by "behaving otherwise was too difficult and frightening for them at the time," and then you have to dig into why that is. people behave in ways that feel 1. easy for them (do not require much thought or effort) 2. accessible to them (patterns that have worked many times before) and 3. safe for them (apparently predictable outcome)
this is true even for behavior that is absolutely horrific and totally unacceptable. which can be a tough thing to accept, I think.

actually I think you're lying about your lived experience and the proof I have is that i asked the warped and evil strawman version of you that I built to live inside my mind and it said you're full of shit and you never have good intentions ever
