thought I got rid of my ex-neighbor from last semester finally but as I expected (and hoped I was wrong) he’s in my music theory class

for reference this is the guy who:

Calls girls “little lady”

uses ai for assignments and then is confused that he doesn’t understand the material

took the “ai is bad” class and then argued that everyone in the class disagreed with the teacher explaining how ai is bad

i could be reaching here but i find it interesting how the male drivers in F3 and F2 are all clearly undereducated in even the most basic topics, while several of the women in f1 academy and in other race series are very openly pursuing higher education and continued education often in some form of engineering and i just think that goes to show how 1. their positions as drivers are not secure and they need to find other financial avenues while in motorsport and 2. how they need and are expected to have a higher level of understand of engineering and motorsport than their male counterparts

this is horrifying in both directions,

women are expected to fail on their path to motorsport and so have this built in back up plan ready to catch them for when the inevitable happens.

however, it shows that so many young men are being failed by not having this built in back up plan ready to catch them for when the inevitable happens because realistically, how many make it and how many fail? and how many are left with bankrupt families and no education to speak of. and then that family going oh.....now what. we put everyone in the shoulders of a kid and now...we've lost it all.

much to be said in how the cost of getting into things like karting and then single seaters and the road to f1 is skyrocketing to the point f1 drivers themselves like charles leclerc speak of how this will not end well when kids are cut off from being able to start racing at all. there are serious problems in the junior categories not being looked at.

The fact that most of the drivers, including Charles, say Kimi is the youngest pisses me off! Kimi is babied consistently and given so much privilege and leeway just for being a white, handsome, Italian "boy"! Meanwhile, Arvid is ignored even though he’s been performing beautifully as a rookie with a sister team. The only reason he isnt getting half the recognition Kimi got in his rookie season with Mercedes (top team) is pure RACISM, and that same double standard always happens to POC drivers on the grid.

these tags from @regina-del-cielo are so fucking true and yeah they’re so doing those boys a disservice by not prioritizing their education. What i find especially interesting however is how when you do look at drivers who made it to the top who didn’t continue their education, their mothers are often the ones trying to get them to continue it.

Piastri, Bortoleto, Bearman and so many others all have said at one occasion that their mothers wanted them to continue school. Antonelli said the only reason he stayed as committed to school as long as he did was because his mother wanted him to. it was their fathers who were making the decisions about their education.

I’m not sure what or how this really relates to the conversation of girls in motorsport prioritizing their education but i think the fact that so many women and girls are prioritizing their or their child’s education can go back to what tags said about how disregarding their education could negatively impact them. The men and boys in these situations are on a one track mind to the top while seemingly to me it looks like the women and girls know that that isn’t a good choice

Child abuse is legal in the U.S. and I’m seriously sick of people pretending that it isn’t or that you can CPS a kid out of an abusive household or fuck, an abusive school. Circumstances that would’ve been considered assault, harassment, or even sexual abuse should they had happened between two adults are disregarded the moment it’s clear the victim is a child and the perpetrator is a parent/guardian. Corporal discipline is not better than child abuse, it sanctions child abuse, and it is, unfuckingrefutably, child abuse. The system is not built to help children in these circumstances, they cannot just go to a trusted adult, or a teacher, or the police, or anywhere else for fucks sake. It doesn’t work that way. CPS does not save you, even if they take you from your home! Anyone who was abused — with or without the marks to prove it — knows that.

if abbi pulling were a man, her success in the 2024 f1 academy season would be talked about for ages. She would’ve been instantly moved up to higher junior racing series. Not stuck in gb3. obviously, if she were a man she wouldn’t have been in f1 academy (but that’s not the point here)

in the 14 races they had that season, abbi won 9 of them. She got 10 pole positions. And podiumed in every single race.

if she were a man, she would be called the next up and coming goat. The new senna. The next Schumacher. The star of the next generation. Someone who would get guaranteed a spot in f1.

but because she is a women, she got dropped and sent to gb3. You don’t hear people gush about her records or the fact that she is going to lead a next generation into the sport.

And yes, that's probably in part because he was always good to Rebecca, and because he's her friend. But let's be real: it's also because he's a man. And a man can wear the same monochrome clothes and unsmiling face every day and be just fine if he does the rest of his job well. But Alice can't.

thoughts i’ve had in my mind for a while

it’s so weird watching this whole kim k & lewis hamilton thing happen, especially when so many people immediately just say “well its PR so it doesn’t actually even matter” which i feel like heavily undermines the whole issue with lewis & kim k

kim k is a problematic person, she’s exploited her children since birth, she’s a zionist who’s gifted skims to IOF soldiers, her entire family have profited off of culture that isn’t their own, her family have a long history of ableism, racism, and many other issues. there’s absolutely countless other things you can mention that i’ve missed, not only that but she’s a billionaire & lewis has had a history of calling out the mega, mega wealthy.

and not only that, but the image/persona lewis crafted in recent years makes him the complete opposite of who he is dating and who had joined his circle in recent years and i think that’s partly why so many people feel so betrayed by it all. that this isn’t who lewis’ helmets, shirts and instagram posts have said he is.

so when people say “it’s just pr” or “its just for money” it doesn’t even matter because lewis is still allowing himself to be seen dating her, he’s allowing articles to be posted saying they’ll get married by the end of the year and live happily ever after. people are allowed to be hurt, angry and upset at lewis because this isn’t who they thought he was

it’s not parasocial to say lewis hamilton isn’t who people thought he was and it sucks to see, it hurts and it stings in a weird way to see a man many of us have admired/idolised or even just liked doing this.

people are allowed to be upset, people are allowed to leave this fandom or stop supporting lewis. it doesn’t mean they never supported him.
