Meet the professional victimizer.
I'm still writing. This is an update/rewrite of my previous storify about professional harassers.
I wrote words. A lot of them on Storify. It's Storiception.
I was busy in 2014, mostly on twitter.
I have a name now, though. I'm Jay Allen. Hi.
That tell-tale wedding of relentless hostility and ethical affectation is a peculiar youth subculture spilling out into the open web. Get ready for more of it.
I wrote a thing for BoingBoing.
a man in black is apparently posting sponsored tweets, which probably means he’s making money for some of the stupid shit he writes
fantastic
apparently i'm now posting sponsored tweets because of the end of this storify
where's mah money, gallant
Cool to be included as a “game changer” on The Verge’s list of the 50 most important people of 2014.
BEWARE I LIVE
First they said that they’re not gonna censor. That’s silly, and you’re being delusional. Now they’re having frank and open discussions on what’s okay to censor. I’m gonna go out on a limb here, and say that what’s okay to censor, are things that hurt their delicate fee-fees.
You COULD just ask me.
The second conversation is about hardcore porn (and snuff porn!). I think it's dishonest to try and get into contortions to say censoring porn, death threats, etc. somehow isn't REALLY censorship. Instead of saying "that's not REALLY speech," we should be asking what it's okay to censor.
#gamergate is the clash of chan-style anonymous culture with the parts of social media where people live and work.

This was written in a rush this morning, please excuse this mess.
Essential piece on how silence enables gamergate.
judging by her expression there's a man with a gun just off-panel

Suddenly it makes sense why this person would spend months of their life combing the internet for irrelevant #GamerGate posts.
It still doesn’t make it any less pathetic.
GamerGate typed "A Man In Black" into Google, saw this Wikipedia editor and said, "Yeah, seems legit." Apparently they're going to accuse me of being Johnny Cash next.
How did these idiots do so much damage?
Gamergate is amazing.
Enjoy more of this insanity in my storify. If you think you can handle it.
#gamergate showed an outpouring of support for noted game censor Jack Thompson, until they realized how awful that looks.
Anyone want a permanent record of #gamergate's craven opportunism regarding Jack Thompson? Here you go.

GamerGate is a hideous, legitimized manifestation of the mobs which have been targeting women in the video game tech world for years now.
A few people know I was working on an article about #gamergate. I was hoping to get it properly published. That didn't happen. Such is life! I'm not a proper journalist, and my contacts were all friends of friends (of friends), and their publications all had their own GG stories.
I went ahead and put it on Medium. I hope you enjoy it (or at least angrily reblog it to complain about me and the media narrative or whatever).
Indie Devs: beware William Usher
I don't know if any of the indie devs I know read this, but I might as well repeat:
William Usher is the dude who leaked GameJournoPros, and is looking for more dirt on indie games people. He claims to be a "journalist" or a "concerned citizen," but he's not your friend and not on your side, and will burn people freely to make a story. He's radioactive. Avoid avoid avoid.
It's never a good idea to engage someone with a Rorschach avatar, but he has also been spotted trying to make contact with people elsewhere. I don't fully know what his deal is right now but I saw two people say he was trying to get a hold of them and he is BAD NEWS
YouTube and Patreon have allowed harassers to turn their abuse into a paid profession. Several of the main instigators of #gamergate are profiting off of the misery they’ve caused.
"Uncovering media corruption is harassment against women."
SJW logic.
wow, is it abuse to criticize “academic work” and ask for better research methods? Is it abuse if someone insults someone and gets backlash for it? It isn’t abusive to exploit tragedies to promote yourself? Fuck this “logic”
It's abuse to accuse someone of sleeping with people to improve her career with no evidence, and it's abuse to sic a mob on someone while telling them that she deserves verbal abuse.
And yes, it is abuse to exploit tragedies to promote yourself. For example, thunderf00t and MundaneMatt and Owen/Aurini and many others hitching their wagons to the #gamergate abuse/harassment/defamation train.
Thanks for promoting my work!
