btw body horror is stuff that doesnt naturally occur and is used to scare ppl, like extra eyes, animal parts on a human, a mouth opening in the stomach, not. disabled people’s bodies lmao.
This post was a plea to stop treating visibly disabled people as monstrous because of the differences their disabilities have caused. It was not an invitation for people to argue what is and is not body horror. It was a call out for dehumanization, not the horror genre.
My only advice for y'all about tarot is that the fool and death do not mean what u assume they mean and u should relax
Ppl will pull death and have a twenty minute panic attack then pull the tower and be like that doesn't bother me
ok but seriously why is “much older internet friend uses you as their personal suicide hotline” such a universal experience for kids on the internet. fyi for any kids/teens following me if an adult tries to make you be their therapist just flat out block them you dont have to explain yourself or try to reason with them and ur not responsible for their mental well-being. just block them
you are all such fucking freaks i am literally an adult who experiences suicidal urges and being suicidal does not fucking entitle you to traumatize a child by making them responsible for your survival. i fucking KNOW you know better. call a suicide hotline, talk to a therapist, or talk to an ADULT FRIEND whos willing and able to support you! not a fucking CHILD

we have really allowed cis women to get FAR too comfortable being transphobic toward trans men.
uh oh
I appreciate your tags but like, please don’t do this.
Cis women being transphobic to trans men isn’t Just Transphobia™. Cis women target trans men specifically, because they know they can get away with it in more spaces.
A cis woman being transphobic toward trans women, or trans people in general, is going to be seen as a transphobe. They’ll likely, and rightfully be criticized and/or ostracized from certain spaces because of it- especially in most feminist circles. If they want to be a part of mainstream, non-TERFy feminism, they’re gonna have to meet some bare minimum behavior expectations where that’s concerned.
But when cis women are transphobic to trans men, most people won’t even notice it’s transphobia at all. Plenty of people will even cheer them on:
Trans men get acne and oily skin on T? Men are so nasty! Trans men have bottom dysphoria? Lol, just like a man to be insecure about his penis! Trans men are sexually abused at higher rates than any other gender and we’d like that addressed? Men are so whiny and fragile! Fight the patriarchy!
They’re women! They’re feminists! when they say horrible, violent, stomach-churning, bigoted shit about trans men, they’re just railing against their own oppressors. It’s justice!
There are so many more insidious forms of this, too.
Cis women who infantilize us and try to revoke our autonomy are seen as “allies”, because they’re only trying to protect us!
Cis women who fetishize us as small, soft, effeminite versions of “real men” are still seen as “trans allies”. It sounds so positive; who wouldn’t want to be seen as inherently sweet, safe, and pretty? Who wouldn’t want to be grossly othered and fetishized for qualities we are stereotyped to have? Surely not the men who already have to fight tooth and nail to define our own relationships with masculinity and manhood.
Cis women who quietly refuse to use make reproductive healthcare more inclusive, who go on making that fight about Women’s Bodies, who continue to say things like “men can’t understand misogyny” and include trans men in their “kill all men” jokes… well, they’re just affirming your gender!
Why would trans men want equal access to healthcare? Why would trans men want our suffering acknowledged? Why would trans men, the group with about a 50% rate of attempted suicide, not want to be told that everyone else would prefer we were dead?
Feminism!
This isn’t even touching on the very intentional predation of trans men by cis women. Trans men and transmascs are targeted by cis lesbians in particular for corrective rape, and by abusive cis women as “easy targets” due to the lack of support networks, resources, and community for trans men and transmascs.
These things are said and done by cis women who tout themselves as “trans allies”. These are women who share those “share to make a TERF mad” posts and call themselves “TERF destroyers”. These are women who say “trans women are women”. These are women in your spaces, and in your community; people you follow and admire. They’re even people I follow and admire; women I’ve followed for years have called me a misogynist for pointing out the problems in things like “men can’t know what it’s like to be expected to have children”.
It’s not just a transphobia problem. It’s not just a cis people problem. And it’s hilariously symbolic that you erased that meaning from my post, because the erasure of trans men and the silencing of our voices is exactly why this shit continues to happen.
Okay, so.
I believe I understand the Gamestop story now.
Perhaps it’s news to you! It goes like this.
One can bet against the future value of a company’s stock. A couple of very large investment firms bet that GameStop’s stock would be at or below a certain low level. Perhaps this was some standard amoral investor machination, but they were surely doing harm to the company for money by insisting through the power of their opinion – because the value of any stock is based entirely on the opinion of the investor – that GameStop stock is cheap.
So Reddit gets wind of this.
They think, “fuck capitalism, let’s set some Boomer wealth on fire while also saving GameStop from hedge fund depredation.” So, en masse, they take their $600 stimulus checks, run them through a free-stock-trade app, and buy as much GameStop stock as they can for as much as they can.
This drives up the price of all GameStop stock.
This obliterates the money of investors who had invested in the idea that GameStop’s stock price will be below a certain level at a certain period.
And so:
It’s hilarious. It’s turning the legalized gambling of Wall Street stock market manipulation against it.
Okay important note here - short selling isn’t inherently bad. A lot of times it’s actually makes stock prices more accurate, because usually it’s in response to some information that gets released publicly (like lower sales figures) and the stock price hasn’t adjusted appropriately yet - in some ways it helps shed light on the true value of a stock. It’s basically betting - a Casino but wall street if you will (with the caveat that at it’s worst betting does involved some manipulation of the results by bad actors).
A primer on stocks: When you’re buying a stock (or equity as they call it), you’re actually buying a little piece of ownership in a company. As an owner in this capitalistic system we live in, you’re entitled to a certain % of a companies profits based on how much you own. The price of a stock is whatever the long-term value of a stock is in total (perpetuity) - ie if the stock is $20/share that means that in the very long run you’ll get $20 in profit from the company.
I honestly love this GameStop thing because basically this was a huge wealth transfer from hedge funds to individual investors - once the price is high enough, the short sellers nope out because they know they’ve bet wrong, and they buy the stock back at a higher price (mostly from the individual investors doing this thing). Eventually the price of Gamestop will go down again, but the hedge fund wealth transfer will have already happened.
However, the most important point in this is in terms of scale - $5B is actually not super crippling to hedge funds - it’s actually a very small amount of their total portfolio. In the long run most of them will be fine and making money hand over fist. But reading the stories of the people who cashed out being able to afford healthcare, surgeries, rent, etc from doing this that otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do that is heartening. It is an argument in favor of a wealth tax, higher taxes on capital gains, etc, whatever you call it - this huge wealth transfer helped so so many people and really didn’t affect the rich. Imagine if we were able to do this on a much larger scale, through idk, taxes maybe. We can literally change the rules to make peoples lives better.
corporations are actively convincing us the reason behind global warming is that you, personally, aren’t reusing your pasta water to make tea and eating the teabag for lunch #vegan and we just let them
no seriously the amount of ppl I see who are genuinely trying to do the right thing and who think global warming is their fault because they have a car or turn the fan on in the summer or eat a goddamn burger is astounding. people are truly brainwashed into thinking anything we do as citizens has an effect on the environment that’s somehow more important than the actions of corporations.
in 2020, when everyone was isolated at home, fossil co2 emissions in the US only dropped by 11%. think about how insane it is that when almost every person living in the second largest GEG emitter was at home for months, the effect they had was a reduction of barely 11%. and yet that fucking carbon footprint calculator is shoved down our throat all day long. a whole 4 years ago when that article came out saying only 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions, everybody just blinked and went “no, thank you. now have you bought enough metal straws?”
and i’m not even addressing the blatant racism, ableism and classism that coats every single one of these “personal responsibility” arguments.

We need HOAs or some idiots will paint their house purple or put tractor tires in their front yard. If you want tractor tires, don’t move to a HOA neighborhood.
I couldn’t even fathom how horrifying it must be to live somewhere there are...purple houses and and yucky stuff in people’s yards. Thank God I don’t have any real problems like that.
listen my Nonna and Nonno live right by a purple house (it’s a nice lilac) and as a kid I was fucking obsessed with it because purple is my favorite color. I’d go nuts whenever we passed by it. Also it had a purple mailbox to match and it blew my mind.
No more HOAs. More purple houses.
imagine trying to control what someone else can do with or on their own property just because you don't agree with their taste in decor
NO MORE HOAs MORE PURPLE HOUSES
Related, becuase I just had to move: “just don’t move into an HOA” Do you know what a PAIN IN THE ASS it is to find NON-HOA Housing? Very nearly everything in the CO front range that isn’t a rental has an HOA these days!
Short list of the Shit the HOA at my pervious house tried to pull:
Banning personal and community food gardens (The reason the tag for my garden is “The garden of earthly HOA violations”)
Banning people from using thier personal yards as Native Plant Restoration microzones, something that looks gorgeous and is extremely helpful to the local ecology
trying to get the city council to remove protections on adjacent city Open Space/Native Plant restoration zone so they could mow it.
mandating the use of ONE landscaping company in the neighborhood, coinicdentally owned by the HOA president’s son
Mandating the use of an unecessary water purification company on all properties.
suing city animal control for collecting lose dogs and cats and returning them to the addresses on thier collars. You know. that thing animal control does so the animals don’t get run over or disemboweled by the coyotes or catch and spread rabies. The thing that’s illegal to let your pet do out here for those reasons Karen.
Suing the city council to remove a city bus stop in the neighborhood that was heavily used by many residents. They damn near got away with it becuase the HOA meetings were always in the middle of the day on a weekday. You know, when the residents that use that stop are working.
Sending people letters threatening to fine them for having “Out Of Season” holiday decor. Specifically targeting my Indian neighbors who were celebrating Diwali, not Christmas and the Jews with visible Menorahs.
Fining people for doing thier own appliance and car repair on thier own personal property
Fining people for operating a business out of thier house, specifically targeting a disabled neighbor that does comission tailoring and garment repair out of her home. never bothered a soul except the one snoopy bitch who didn’t like that her clients were allowed to park in the tailor’s designated and otherwise unused parking space.
Trying to fine a neighbor for flying a Pride Flag
HOAs are invasive, bigoted, corrupt and cruel institutions that should never have been allowed to be created. If you live in and HOA area, showing up at the meetings to tell people what the fuck is wrong with them, Joining your HOA board to protect your neighbors and possibly organize the dissolution of the HOA is one of the best things you can do to protect the marginalized members of your community.
FUCK HOAs AND LONG LIVE THE PURPLE HOUSES AND TRACTOR-TIRE GARDENS OF THE WORLD.
Are y'all telling me this shit is actually LEGAL?
Here’s how to get an HOA to leave you and your purple house tf alone
cant stop thinking about this post. 😔
that addition is HEROIC. i welcome any and all ammunition on fighting back against HOAs
An HOA sounds good on paper, when they talk about using dues to maintain sidewalks and parks. Invariably, they are used to maintain classist and racist standards for local areas under the guise of "protecting property values".
No more HOAs. More purple houses, more affordable housing.
This is why the brushing aside of colonization because “well that was my ancestors not me” doesn’t work. You still benefit from it. You still perpetuate the effects of it. If white people weren’t like their ancestors? They would give these people their land back and let them decide how to move forward.
Denying them housing on their own land? Being in a position to do that? Is certainly as colonizer as it gets. You are living your ancestors dreams.

Every single person deserves shelter, food, water, and healthcare.
every single person deserves not only access to food, shelter, healthcare, and water, but they deserve to HAVE it. no standing in lines for hours, no petitions for money for medical bills, nothing. they deserve easy, as close to immediate access to these necessities.
Every person on this planet is one accident away from becoming disabled. Every person on this planet will become disabled if they live long enough. You are not an exception. Neither are your loved ones.
If you feel like disability rights aren’t relevant to you, remember that the only thing standing between you and being disabled is time.

Went to the Aboriginal artifact exhibit in Chicago. And it’s interesting. How many blankets and masks and totem poles say ‘unknown source’, because every five seconds my mom would stop and point to something and say. “Pauline’s grandmother made that,” or, “That belongs to Mike’s family, I should call him” because. It’s all stolen
“These artifacts were excavated by archaeologists from a burial site in the 1970’s. The remains were returned for reinterment” Okay cool, cool cool. So you just, like. Dug up the grave of a respected family member, stripped them naked, mailed their body back to their family and kept everything they were lovingly put to rest in. Like a graverobbing bastard
Reminds me of the time when of the elders from my hometown started touching a totem pole in the Museum of Anthropology out at UBC and got yelled at by the staff, only to tell him that the pole had been stolen off of the front of her bighouse when she was ten years old.
Museum collectors did the equivalent of kidnapping a family member when they were away fishing.
The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act requires all institutions that receive federal funding to repatriate remains and artifacts so if you can identify the source of something on display absolutely get a hold of that institute’s repatriation office
