Ok I know most people like Blime for the opposites attract reasons but imagine if Blue is just as unhinged as Lime when they’re stressed/overstimulated. I put incorrect quotes under the cut because cmon. It’s me.

Blue: I’m sorry, I don’t think I made myself clear - if you don’t all leave me alone for the rest of the day unless someone is literally actively flatlining, I’m going to sTART PUTTING AIR BUBBLES IN THE IV BAGS!

*Blue storms out and slams the door behind them*

Green: Did. Did Blue just. Threaten to murder us???

Lime, hearts in their eyes, hands clasped together against their cheek: Yeah… <3

[BLEEP]

Purple, in the middle of a rant: -and Black and Cyan don’t even get any protective gear! They’re just touching and breathing in rocket fuel for hours every day-

Red: Not to worry, Purps, MIRA told me that the Ore+ is totally safe to be handling!

Blue, on their fifth coffee of the hour and their fourth sleepless night, overstimulated as they try to do paperwork, under their breath: That’s what they want you to think.

[Beat]

Red: … what did you say, Blue?

Blue, not even looking up: You heard me.

[BLEEP]

White: Okay, so Blue’s gone off the deep end-

Blue, halfway through their rant about how MIRA is polluting everything and making everyone sick for their own gain: I HAVEN’T BEEN IN THE SHALLOW END SINCE I WAS SIX!

I'm so so excited to hear about Orange in this au.... And also generally interested in how the Imposters work

Yeah, Orange is not having a fun time despite surviving this whole mess.

Because of the way the alien parasite had melded with their head and upper back, the removal (via a first splash of salt water to kill it then a long soak to dissolve any remnants) badly damaged their occipital nerves and inner ear. They were left with damaged hearing, tinnitus, debilitating headaches, balance issues and dizziness, vertigo and oscillopsia. This makes day to day life extremely difficult- yet Orange keeps refusing help from those around them. With their conditions they would greatly benefit from a wheelchair or at the very least a rollator ; but they've declined to use one multiple times. The best Blue could do was to get them special glasses for their oscillopsia and convince them to use a quad tip cane to get around.

They carry a mix of painful emotions but the most potent is anger. Anger towards MIRA, anger towards the parasite, anger towards themself...

The alien parasites can't kill their hosts ; they need their body to be functionnal to use them ; but they can subdue them in other ways. They take over the nervous system, the muscle tissue, movements, voice, reflexes... And the endocrine system. Green's parasite simply brute forced things and kept them conscious so they would see the carnage, but Orange's parasite was more subtle.

Orange was under constant and extreme stress long before the Skeld tragedy. They were good at hiding it but the intense workload and endless corporate responsabilities, the spotless record they needed to maintain, the friendly and upbeat persona they had to keep up and the reputation they had to preserve were completely crushing them. So when the parasite took over and began pumping their body full of aaall the nice hormones that make you calm and happy like oxyctocin and endorphins, they didn't fight it. Sure a tiny part of them knew something was wrong ; their mind was dazed and foggy and their movements and thoughts and own words felt like they weren't theirs but, it felt so good... To be free for the first time in years... The euphoria of an empty mind... It wasn't a conscious thought, but they let the parasite win, and take over completely.

But then they were "saved". Their parasite was killed. They were removed from the Skeld, taken to a hospital, all expenses paid. Kept under observation by Platinum Co., the company owned by White's family. They were conscious and aware and thinking again and it was a nightmare. The pain, the betrayal, what they had done to Lime ; it all hit them at once ; made so much worse when they learned Green had been infected too but kept fighting tooth and nail against their own parasite in an attempt to save the others.

When they were finally released, Orange had no idea how to process their own feelings. While the other survivors tried to keep in contact and meet up regularly they isolated themself. They stayed holed up in their studio appartment and didn't talk to anyone, barely ate, barely did anything, while their physical symptoms worsened. It took Lime picking the lock to their appartment to let Blue, Yellow and Brown in for things to begin changing, just a little. (Lime did not enter and was quickly taken back home by their parent ; they were not ready to talk to Orange and Orange was clearly not ready to talk to them).

Blue, Yellow and Brown eventually got Orange to move a bit, to nibble on some bread and drink some juice, change clothes, wash their face... They had a long talk with them and half-promised, half-threatened to come back the next day and everyday after. It took a lot of work, but bit by bit they managed to get Orange to take care of themself again.

Nowadays Orange is doing somewhat better, though they are still reclusive and rarely talk to the others. Blue and Yellow are the most involved in caring for them (Brown too, although they have their kids to look after and don't have as much free time). They still haven't talked to Lime beyond a brief hello.

Does Purple reveal their true name in the survivor AU?

They do!

The first crewmates they told (besides Red) were Yellow and Brown, since they had to sign papers with their legal name & hex code to work at their pizzeria. (It's a part time job and more to keep them busy than to really pay the bills ; they have their share of money from the MIRA lawsuit for that).

It's come up in conversation a few times after that ; it's not something they particularly NEED to keep a secret so they don't mind sharing it.

White and Green had the same "You can do that??" initial reaction. Green thinks that's pretty neat actually, while White is still processing the fact that some people actually don't like their birth name.

Black, Cyan, Blue and Lime have all been around crewmates who changed their name before, they're very supportive. Lime believes not using your government name is "cool and based" as the kids say.

Orange is too busy with their mental torment nexus to care either way.

I need to know Green and Orange's Whole Deal with the Imposter Parasites possessing them in the Survivor AU.

Were they conscious during the Whole Skeld Incident?

Did they feel like they deserved any mercy afterwards the whole thing?

How much Guilt do they have?

Do the rest of the crewmates forgive them, or are the feelings more complicated?

Were Green & Orange conscious during the Skeld incident?

Short answer: Green was fully conscious the whole time and actively fighting against the parasite, Orange was technically conscious but so high on oxytocine they couldn't do much about anything.

The aliens in this AU don't kill their hosts, they need the body alive and breathing to use it so instead they fuse with the body's skin, muscles, nervous system, etc. and control it as their own while the host is still conscious.

Imp!Orange being relatively weak, it worried Orange would try to take back control over their body. In order to subdue them (and after noticing the intense stress Orange was under), Imp!Orange took over the body's endocrine system and flooded it withh serotonin, dopamine, endorphins and oxytocin. Orange suddenly found themself in a state of calm and euphoria they had never known before ; so much so that even when their movements and words no longer seemed to be their own, they barely noticed. They completely let go and Imp!Orange was free to take over fully.

Imp!Green on the other hand was much stronger. It didn't need to subdue Green- and didn't want to. Having them as an unwilling passenger forced to witness the massacre was much more fun. Even when Green got in the way of kills by throwing off their aim or stopping them from moving for a few seconds, Imp!Green was more amused than anything, viewing their actions as only delaying the inevitable.

Did they feel like they deserved any mercy after the whole thing? How much Guilt do they have?

It's a difficult situation. Both Orange and Green know they didn't hurt their fellow crewmates, but it doesn't do much to help them feel better.

Green is convinced they should and could have done more to stop Imp!Green. They believe if they had just tried a little harder, maybe someone could have been saved... Although the truth is they did save their fellow crewmates ; stalling Imp!Green for a few seconds or throwing off their aim was the difference between life and death for almost everyone who was attacked. Yet, they still have to deal with intrusive throughts repeatedly telling them the other crewmates hate and blame them for everything.

Orange is also in a particularly fragile mental state. They were hit with a lot at once- the realization of how little they meant to MIRA and Pink, having to learn how to deal with their new disabilities, the intense shame when learning Green had been fighting back while they willingly let the parasite take over ; the horror and guilt in what they had done to Lime... After leaving the hospital, they retreated into near complete silence and isolated themself from the other crewmates.

Do the rest of the crewmates forgive them, or are the feelings more complicated?

Generally, the rest of the group understands Orange and Green are innocent and that becoming a host was an unfortunate thing that could have happened to any one of them. They are victims too and it's clear to everyone how much guilt the two carry.

Still, Lime and Orange have yet to talk to each other beyond a muttered greeting. Even knowing what they know about aliens and mind control and what have you, it's hard for Lime to feel safe around Orange. They don't blame Orange but haven't forgiven them either, if that makes sense? Orange meanwhile is too ashamed of themself to even think about approaching Lime.

Reclaiming a slur or bigoted term does not mean you can use it as an insult. If you call something or someone the r word, saying "well I'm neurodivergent so I can reclaim it" does not magically take away the violence and harm of that word when it's being used to hurt other people. Calling someone limp wristed for being "weak" or effeminate isn't quirky or funny because you're queer, it's just homophobia. You aren't reclaiming the word bimbo by slinging at other women to put them down. All you're doing is perpetuating the bigotry and violence that creates those terms in the first place.

everyone i've talked to about this has been completely unaware so: if you didn't know already, there's going to be a solar eclipse, with totality or coverage of 90% or more in some places, over a lot of europe, on august 12th 2026. in the uk it will start just after 6pm, and the maximum will be at 7:13pm.
