Its becomi g icreasinglt harder to find good quality cases its evwn worse when you have older devuces my dedicated device a dynavox em12 (which is a surface pro 7?) There are ver frew decent cases out there espcaily cases with straps and i have sasly all but given ip of getting a good waterproof case again. Now id hust love a food solid protective case with a strap tha5 wont snap at the strap attachments i. 4 months of daiky aac use , and lets mr choose which corners i attsch the straps too an apparently doesnt accidebtalyy turn my scren or device off if i tilt my device wrobg abd doesbt maje the device 2 pounds heavier if possible

Please understand that high support needs are substantially more than low support needs.

I hate to say it, but if you can hold a job with minimal accommodation from others, drive a car or take public transport independently, and handle most bADL’s and iADL’s with self-management strategies, you are not high support needs.

I by no means am trying to invalidate people, but it’s incredibly important to recognize where you actually lie on the full spectrum of disability. Otherwise we risk speaking over people who genuinely are HSN.

When I say I don't grieve like most people I mean I fall into hyoer fications and spend the next wpyear or so in a haze breaking down on and off in waves but mostly not even processing the loss with my mind having told me they are some where sensible a retreat, vaction something anything, then it may all start hitting 5 6 otpr 7 years later it's been 11 years since my mom passed and my brain is processing the night of her loss like it was a yesterday tonight for no reason to be known, some of this is pribabky her loss was pretty sudden and truamatic in its own right, but I know the night of her funeral I seemed fine the years after I'm sure I seemed fine while my mid was deslrately trying to hold and process everything, the new hyper fications are just my brain destrately grabbing at anything to hold onto as the world Rios to shreds around me ,

Portable eyegaze devicea should be a thing. Eyegaze bracketts like that pf tovbidynavox are great but arent designed qell to qork with casws and thats a problem. I really need to be able ro keep my aac systrm in ita case its actively a barrier to jave to remove it from ots case to use the eyegaze them have to put it back onto the case if i want to pack ip and say take my aac wiyh me between rooma or of i need the loo or have to go do anything else a room over i shpuld have to go with out communication acess if i am using eyegaze and need thw loo or need to run down the hall or do anyrhibg else . While ambilatory and unreliably ambukatory eyegaze users are not a primary market we do exist abd the nees for eyegaze access for ambulitory aac users is out there but it neess to be c9 sidered and met.

This goes hand in hand with pushing for only queer people to play queer roles. Which in theory sounds like a good thing to push for authentic representation when so much of the past stuff was bad.

Except the actual real world outcome has become queer leftists abusively dog piling any actor they deem "inauthentic" leading to actors being forcefully outed against their will before they were ready in an attempt to make the abuse stop. Including children. People have been justifying psychologically tormenting literal children for not publicly disclosing (and being firm and set in) their gender and sexuality in order to work.

In many wants it's set back queer media and made people just as afraid of queer roles ruining their careers and their lives as they were when bigots were doing it. Which is not an improvement to the situation! It's really only giving cover to people who want none of this to exist.

We could have just praised the process we wanted to see. Personally I love seeing Jim Parsons take that big normative sitcom money and fucking off to make emotionally powerful queer films with it casting queer actors whenever he can. But praising that will always be more constructive than bullying Kit Connor. If Daniel Craig wants to spend the rest of his career making charming gay detective movies about helping marginalized woman get revenge on abusive rich assholes, then I don't care what his sexuality is because it's still pushing queer media far forward.

We could have positively addressed rainbow capitalism by supporting queer-owed business. We could have accepted that mainstreaming queer iconography at Target (much of it designed by queer people who got to pay their bills making it) would make space for people buying that small batch t-shirt at Pride. It's not like people only ever buy one t-shirt in their life.

A closeted-for-safety trans boy buying his first binder at Target could have created an opening for the next one to be from Shapeshifters. Instead he may never get the chance to know what it would feel feel like to take the first step because the wrong packaging could endanger him and the (fair) price mightbe unaffordable.

We can't built perils into doing better. We can't keep calling nigh-impossible next steps"the bare minimum" and tearing into them for every imperfection if we want people to do them at all. At minimum that's a burnout machine. At worst it gives bigots leverage to maker sure we have nothing. Kindness and enthuses support of what we want to see happen makes way more progress.

Unfortunately many leftists are still so stuck in the purity-sin-redemption mentality, even when they surface-level reject Christianity, that instead of growth and change everything keeps getting treated as blasphemy unless it's perfect. The amount of times I have to replace case or parts to cases for my AAC system is a lot, I think unless your used to having a device on you 24/7 a lot of people don't realize the wear and tare these cases and devices need to be able to handle and go through, and I'm always disappointed water proof isn't more common or standardized and that cases aren't more riuffed
