Making pumpkin soup and thinking about how Xtian culture is passed on.
In Sweden, the official religion is Xtianity, but my only directly Swedish relative is my grandmother so I don’t know how that influences me. My mom, her daughter, is agnostic, but still was in a church choir back in the day and celebrates Christmas. My grandpa is Jewish and American, so my mom must have gotten that Xtian Swedish culture from grandma.
Grandma herself has never expressed any Xtian beliefs. She’s a bit of a self-righteous moralist and seems to think that morals are a religious thing, funny enough. Even so, she helped pass down that idea that Xtianity is a natural part of a person’s life whether you believe in it or not.
Where am I going with this? I don’t know, I’m tired. I’m tired of the Xtian lens being gently shoved in front of Swedes’ eyes and I thought examining my own family could give me some answers.
