Marcos Burial
I think there’s no problem with burying Marcos in “Libangan ng mga Bayani”. His time was the moment Philippines reached its zenith. The economy was appraising, the country was known by non Asian countries, and we were the first country in Asia who had an airport. We were one of the powerful countries during his time. We were also more powerful than China. I was not yet born during his period but based on what I’ve heard from people and on the facts I’ve researched, Philippines was way different back then.
Textbooks teach us that Marcos declared Martial Law and it caused pain to millions of Filipinos. We learned that he became atrocious and conceited because of his power. We blamed him for the deaths, the pain and the cruelty. But did you try to blame the people under his throne? Did you ever think that it was not him but his little minions? Or just because he was the president, you just easily blamed him and throw stones at him.
Ferdinand Marcos deserved to be buried in that place not because he was the president but because he was the man who made the Philippines reached its dreams.
