It's wild to how many people I've met who've experienced psychosis and are clearly just like, a guy you can talk to who had some weird stuff happen to them, vs. popular depictions of psychotic disorders where that's someone's sole personality trait (and if they've ever been psychotic, they're in that state ~forever). In my experience genre fiction is really bad at this. It's possible pop culture has gotten better at writing people who've been psychotic and aren't 2D stereotypes but I don't watch TV so I don't know. Any updates on this?
