Today A Playlist Saved Me

You can’t believe how many times music and lyrics have stopped my mind from going over the edge, just like today. Today was tough. Today was rough. It was one of those days when my mind just chooses to focus on all the sad things and spiral down into this dark place I get lost in. It feels a little bit like drowning where every time I come up for air, I get pulled down even deeper.

I was all curled up in my bed, listening to the pitter patter of the rain outside my window, thinking of all the wrong decisions I made in my life, feeling all alone and lonely. In a world so huge and complicated, I felt like I was nothing. I knew they were irrational thoughts but I couldn’t stop them from overwhelming me. I decided to get up and actually do something just to distract myself. I played some random playlist and for some reason the songs were like a message from somewhere, telling me it’s going to be okay somehow, that I’ve been through worse but I have survived. I’m still alive, right? There must be some reason. It was like a lifeline I held onto and somehow, I was breathing again.

Today was hard, yes. I’m going to be fine though. I know I will.
