[ID: a comic about Kris, Noelle and Asriel from Deltarune.
Noelle meets Kris at the door of her house. Kris is wearing dark clothes and a backpack while Noelle has plain light colored clothing. Noelle greets “Oh, hi, Kris!”. Kris replies “hi”. Noelle says “Please, come in” and Kris does so while Noelle has her hands in her pockets.
Noelle asks “I assume you, um, wanna use the piano?” to which Kris confirms “yea”. Noelle says “Go ahea- Wait. Kris, is that a Half Dead 2 shirt?”, and indeed Kris’ shirt has the skull with a 2 next to it. Kris says “it’s azzy’s.” Noelle smiles and responds “Oh yeah, I forgot.” “He used to play it with-” “He was into it.”
A drawn dialogue box with Noelle’s sprite reads “Did… did you know there’s a song in that game that’s not in the soundtrack?”
“Normally the game’s pretty intense, with you like killing waves of aliens and stuff. I was always too scared to look, though.” With every new dialogue the dialogue box starts glitching, and glitches more and more.
“But then there’s this level with no enemies, you just cross this huge suspension bridge while a haunting piano song plays.”
“And the song’s not on the OST for some reason! At least, not the playlist I found online.”
A computer on a table shows gameplay of Half Dead 2, as a flashback. Noelle says:
“I’d ask her to play that level, over and over, just so I could hear the song.”
“In retrospect I was probably being really annoying, but…”
“She always indulged me.”
“Anyways, um. You can go play now, sorry.”
In the present Noelle walks away, while Kris stands in front of the piano and looks at her. Another flashback of Kris and Asriel plays. Asriel is showing a smiling Kris something on his phone, and their dialogue is as follows:
Asriel says “Yo Kris, I got a new videogame song you should learn.”
Asriel continues “So I’ve been playing Half-Dead 2”
“and there’s this song that isn’t on the youtube playlist for some reason.”
“Look, here it is in a letsplay.”
Kris stops smiling and says “…azzy”
Kris continues “This is. clair de lune”
“it’s not on the playlist because it’s a royalty free recording of clair de lune”
Asriel, with a confused smile, asks"What’s that?“
Kris says “what do you mean what’s that it’s clair de lune”
Asriel says “Claire the what?”
Kris says “asriel do you not know what clair de lune is”
Asriel retorts “Well SOR-ry I haven’t heard every piece of obscure human music!”
Kris replies “WHAT DO YOU MEAN OBSCURE ASRIEL IT’S CLAIR DE LUNE BY CLAUDE DEBUSSY”
Asriel, one eyebrow perked, asks “Claude the WHAT?”
Kris, with one deadly glowing red eye, says “HIS NAME” and Asriel finally catches on, saying “OH.”
They look at each other for a moment, Kris grabbing Asriel’s shoulders. Then they loudly laugh together, Kris with tears in their eyes, and Asriel says “Shut up!!!”
The drawings are now from the present, Noelle sitting om the couch and Kris’ silhouette on the doorframe to the piano room, but the dialogue from Kris and Asriel continues. Asriel says “Look, who cares who made it! I still think you should learn it.”
Kris sits in frint of the piano, looking back at Noelle with a sad expression and holding onto their backpack straps. Kris in the dialogue says “I don’t need to learn this one dude” “i already know it”.
The camera pans down to Kris’ hands playing the piano, the notes visually falling down to look like blue synthesia notes but also tears, as they fall down on Noelle’s yellow outline as she recognizes the song and says “oh.” and the notes keep falling to Kris, who also has teardrops from their eyes. This is the only page with so many colors, with the purple background amd Kris’ skin looking pink, as well as Noelle and notes on the piano being yellow.
Back to black and white, Kris’ eyes are shining with tears. Kris realizes thry’re crying and wipes their tears away, only to stop and hear sniffing and sobbing. They look to the side.
Noelle is colored blue, and she’s crying. Kris’ silhouette watches from the piano room. Red text reads “end”.
