It was you - CoD oneshot
Sorry, if the story is shitty, but I'm sick and have nothing better to do, so here - have one of my shitpost ideas.

"...Bad shit's gonna happen." Woods warned young soldiers. Harper stopped recording and got up.
"Well, thanks for all the info, we'll make good use of that."
"Alright, thanks Frank. I'll let you know what we got." David smiled at his uncle and patted his hand. "Let's get that bastard."
"Harper to all teams, regroup at front yard in two." He gave the call out thro comms, but Woods stopped them and pointed at him.
"What did you say? What's your name again?" Both men stopped and looked at him confused. Mike and David exchanged looks.
"Harper?..."
"Full name."
"Mike Harper." He wasn't sure why it mattered to the old man NOW, since he already began to call him 'dipshit'. Woods slammed his fist down on armrest and again pointed at him.
"It was YOU."

30 years ago there was a sudden call for backup in some city with nice view point building. Looks like even with David at summer camp, Mason couldn't take a break. He met Woods at the site, the CIA were asked to extract the hostages.
"What do we got?"
"Looks like few groups of tourists and school field trip - two adults and around thirty children."
Mason leaned over building's plans and Woods scratched his beard.
"How many hostiles?"
"We counted five in this room, the rest are securing other parts of building."
"Might be tough, if they hear shooting or screams, the others could kill the hostages."
"With hostages dead, they will only get in more trouble. They will wait for us to show up and will play a game of chicken." Mason came up with a plan and after instructing everyone, he headed to the back door with Woods. One by one they were taking down enemies with suppressed weapons. They made their way to occupied room with children and each leaned against one of double door. Woods nodded and both bashed thro the door. Everything felt like it was in slow motion, everything was clear. One fire exchange and few bullet shells later, all hostiles dropped on floor. Children were sitting on floor with hands over their hands and both women tried to calm down after being used as human shields.
"Is everyone alright?" Mason asked and kneeled next to a shocked woman.
"Dad? Uncle!" They both looked up and saw little David standing up with huge grin. Mason walked up to him, worried like never before.
"David, what're doing here!? You're suppost to be on a summer camp?"
"I am. We went here to have a look at valley."
"You're alright kid?" Woods asked calmly and ruffled his hair.
"You're his uncle? You don't seem as cool as he said." Frank raised his eyebrow at boy, about half of head shorter from David. With fair messy hair, arms crossed and face angry, like he was trying to look serious.
"Oh really? So you think you could do all of this better than me? Hah, I'd like see that."
"Don't encourage him to do stupid things. Are you two friends?"
"Yeah, this is Mike."
"Mike Harper." He puffed up his chest and proudly looked at Woods, like he wanted to give him a challenge. Frank just shrugged and checked, if the hallway is clear. As planned, they met up with local police halfway through escape route.
"Dad, I want to go with you, I want to see how you work."
"Believe me, you don't."
"Better stay outside kid, thing are gonna get hot here." Woods and Mason turned around and headed to their next attack point, where they were suppost to meet with another group. One after another they cleared next rooms off hostiles and were sending at least two men as an escord. When it was only two of them left, they reached the underground local history exhibit part with thin wooden decoration under the ceiling. They had to carefully check each corner and check behind each exhibit prop. 'Search and clear' always felt like forever, but none of them said a thing. They stood in middle of room, weapons low and Mason leaned to his comm.
"All clear, last room secured. What're the status outside?"
"Civilians are under paramedics' care, but a woman said there are two children missing from her group. We sent few people to look for them." The chief of police reported.
"What!? How is that possible? When did she notice they're missing?"
"Please don't tell me-" Woods didn't finish, because they both heared wood breaking and children screaming. They managed to drop their guns and catch them quickly. Mason held David flat, belly down, while Woods hug-caught Mike's waist and almost got hit in head by kid's legs.
"Boys!... what the hell?..." Alex was pissed, David never behaved like that, suddenly when they meet in such mess, he wanted to follow him like puppy.
"Hey! Put me down!" Mike wiggled in Woods' grip.
"You wanna hit your head, dipshit? Fine."
"Don't call him that, now let's go, before anything else happens." They carefully set boys on floor and Mason reported thro radio, that they found them.
Outside when the summer camp bus arrived, David hugged his dad and was hoping he won't scold him.
"You know it was dangerous? And VERY stupid."
"I know... are you angry?"
"I was worried... and how did you even get there?"
"I found staff staircase and followed the sound of fight. It wasn't Mike's idea, I didn't even ask him, he just didn't want leave me alone."
"Well that sounds like he's a good friend, but as much as you hate when I leave, I do things like this so other people can be safe."
"Are you going home now?"
"Yes and I will wait for you there." Mason smiled pet David's head. He smiled back and hopped into bus, sat down next to Mike and waved at his dad. When Woods walked up to Alex, Mike showed him tounge and made mocking face, so he also showed him his tounge and waited for the bus to leave. Mason chuckled and pat his shoulder.
"You never thought of kids Frank?"
"To go thro all this shit like you? Nah thanks, never been good at all that 'family stuff'."
~~~
David and Mike looked wide-eye at Woods and then at each other.
"That was YOU!?" They said in sync.
"Wait, how- how we didn't notice?"
"Well it was 30 years ago to be honest."
"Yeah, but such shocking moments are hard to forget. I got us in trouble."
"Hey c'mon, we were kids. Besides that wasn't the craziest shit we've done at that summer camp." Mike chucked and patted David's shoulder.
"Yeah, but you're still the same dipshit as you were." Woods mocked him. Mike made a fake smile and nodded before he left. David said 'bye' to his uncle and closed the door behind. Frank smiled to himself.
"You two will go thro hell and back together."
So that's just a random headcanon idea, where Mike and David met as children, but forgot about it. The original set of story was different, but I thought this will fit better.
I also think that Mike is to David like Woods to Mason - chaotic, cocky, badass, who doesn't loose their friend out of sight. XD
