“Oh….sorry,” Fenrin replied, watching the other man type away at his phone. “The lights seemed to be on. Maybe they’re just taking people night diving?”

“Yeah, maybe.” He sounded unconvinced. “Where did you want to get coffee?”

“That wasn’t one, was it?” he said was a slightly concerned frown. If it had been one he hadn’t intended it to be. Fenrin shook his head, “Sorry, but it must have been pretty late - the moon was already high in the sky,” he pointed almost straight up to where he’d remembered seeing it. 

“Seemed like one to me.” Achilles nodded and pulled out his phone to type something. “Could you tell if they were running without lights?”

“By who?” the warlocks gaze followed the others mans out over the water. 

“I said I didn’t know much, that wasn’t a lie. You want some coffee?” he asked before continuing, “I’ve seen one of their boats go pasted a couple of nights but honestly I’m not much of a night owl. I prefer being up with the sun,” 

“A colleague.”

“Yeah, well you usually don’t do half truths. Sure.” He sighed and looked at the boat house. “Do you remember the time it went by?”

“Not a lot,” he replied, towelling off his hair, “I can keep an ear out though. You think it’s something fishy?” 

“Dunno what I think, I was just asked to ask you.” Achilles’s eyes scanned out to sea, taking in the edges of the port. “It can’t be that loud out here that it’d miss you though.”

“You lying to me, Fenrin?”

“It’s never too cold for a morning swim if you ask me,” he commented as he swapped his towel for a jumper. “So what brings you down here so early?”

Achilles stared at him for a moment, before snapping out of it. Did he ever wear a shirt? “Lobo Chartering’s been making late night runs. I was wondering what you’ve heard.”

“It surely can.“ Neaera smiled, relaxing further into her seat.

“Gonna back me or Louis if I make the play to take over?”

“Running things with your father,“ Nathan corrected himself. “Does your current clan know what you did before? Can you help them here or possibly get into a higher position?“

“Which interests? And how did this meeting go?“

Achilles shrugged. “Some do. Other’s don’t. I don’t tend to advertise it, because all that does is bring more questions about why I left.”

“Art. And fine. We’ve met a couple of times.”

“I’ve yet to meet anyone in this pack that rolls over on their ways.”

“But hell can freeze over, I guess.”

“Helo would do it for Jo. You know her story,“ Jax growled. He hated talking about what happened to Jo. There wasn’t a person in their pack that wouldn’t want to help bring down the assholes who changed the group of women that came with Jo. It was a plus that Helo’s older brother Radak had recently started dating one of the other survivors. 

“Okay,“ Jax nodded. “I’ll have Sam and Henry look into their BOND missions. Maybe the day before disable their communications or send out false S.O.S to return home for those who are away. We need to take everyone out. Women and children included. We can’t leave anyone behind and we can’t take them with us.“ Jax said plainly, needing Achilles to have his back fully. Especially knowing people like Mary, Hanna and Helo probably won’t be able to handle killing those they believed where innocents. “I’ll kill the bastard myself unless you want him too?“

Achilles nodded, having heard only in rumors what had really happened. But it was hard not to like Jo, especially when you got to know her.

“I know.” It was simple enough, but Achilles was under no illusion of who they were. Rats lived and died on a daily basis, that he’d grown up with them made no difference. It certainly had made no difference to the others 5 years ago with him. “You can have him, Sam can have him, whoever. They just have to be sure they can get him. Who else is coming? Will they be able to kill someone raised like us?”

“Which was working with your father before?“ Nathan asked, writing down how Achilles skipped over being tried and avoided going into detail about exactly what it was he did for work.

“Have there been anything new development or major changes since we last spoke?“

“Yes. Running things with my father. I’m just a grunt here.”

“No, not really. Met someone outside of my clan with some similar interests.”

“Fine. It’s never stressful compared to what I was doing before.”

“Thank you for coming in today. I’m so glad you made it. I haven’t seen you since… since early Late February, correct? How have you been?“

Achilles sat down, his fingers drumming on his leg. “Alright. Busy with work mostly.” While they’d made progress, in the month since he’d clammed up again.

“Something about your dad is out of control and will eventually be the death of you and your little brother, if you don’t step in.“ Roman told him nonchalantly. “She was very adamant that I come see you. Most desperate and crying mothers are.“

Achilles watched him for a moment, heart stuck in his throat. He was unsure of what else to say. “Did she say anything else?”
