As dawn breaks over the palace grounds, the mist begins to lift, the air sweet with morning dew. Sirius is glad, as he often is during these early rounds, that he's not required to wear his armor for this task. The woods to the east of the palace are tranquil as he walks on light feet through the damp grass. The calls of swallows, the rustling of the creek, and a soft voice murmuring.
Sirius really contemplates whether he ought to care enough to seek out the source of that last sound. Townspeople find their way onto this part of the grounds often enough, groups of children playing games or teenagers trying to sneak in the palace's back door just to see if they can get away with it. Sirius told James he'd be useless as an enforcer of any rules at this hour, but of course James loves to torment him.
The murmuring is quiet enough that it could be mistaken for the wind. Sirius could feign ignorance of it and pretend he hasn't heard it, but he knows the sounds of this wood well enough to pick out what doesn't belong.
He follows it and finds you kneeling by the creekbed, cupping a frog between your palms.
"Hello."
You turn quickly, and the frog leaps from your hands. Sirius watches as surprise, then disappointment, flit over your face like flickering light, before you tsk, offering him a smile.
"Hello," you reply. "You scared my friend."
Sirius tsks back at you. "I don't think you're supposed to be here."
"I'm not?"
His eyebrows lift. You sound genuinely bemused. "No. Sorry, lovely, but there's another wood across town where you can continue yourâŚwhat are you doing?"
He's lost your attention to the creekbed, your eyes scanning intently. "I'm finding frogs," you say, and thenâyou do. Just like that, you reach for a leaf and a frog Sirius hadn't noticed atop it now rests in your palm. It isn't even squirming.
Sirius leans closer. "Why is it just sitting there?"
"Tree frogs are fairly trusting," you say, lifting your hand up very slowly to peer at the creature. "Once they understand you're not going to harm them, they'll keep you company for a little while."
The way you're cradling the frog so gently, Sirius can see how it'd come to that decision. The little thing looks as content to be in your care as anywhere else. Maybe it trusts you instinctively because of how you so still, or watch it so attentively. Maybe it's how comfortable you look on the bed of grass by the creekbed, and it can't properly distinguish you from the foliage surrounding it.
"Usually, these guys don't come down from the trees after the sun is up," you say, your voice dropping low to avoid disturbing it. "I probably won't see him again, but I'm hoping to meet everyone who lives here before long. He has freckles on his back, see?"
Sirius crouches with you and leans closer. His chin is almost near enough to rest on your shoulder. He can feel its warmth. "Oh, yeah," he says, spotting the nearly imperceptible speckles of brown on the frog's green backside. "He does."
"That's how we'll know it's him," you hum contentedly. "What do you think his name should be?"
"Hm. Ribbit?"
You laugh. It's a sweet, lively sound, not unlike the bubbling of the creek. You quiet it too soon, wary of frightening the creature in your hand.
"Clever," you tease him, "but I think our friend has earned something more unique. He's very brave for coming down here during the day. What do you think of Lancelot?"
Now Sirius laughs. He's careful to do it behind his hand so you don't get upset with him for scaring away your catch yet again. "Why are you asking me?"
"Well, I'm making a guess," you admit. Your gaze dips to the sword's pommel at his hip. "You look like you might be a knight, and I think that would make you the best person to decide whether he's a Lancelot or not."
Sirius blinks. Suddenly, he's unsure how he's found himself kneeling in a patch of mud deliberating with a strange girl about what to name a frog. "You'd be right." He stands, scanning the woods to ensure no one is nearby to have witnessed him. That'd be just what he needs. "He suits Lancelot fine, if you ask me, but I have rounds to finish. Go get acquainted with the frogs in the woods by town, alright? I reckon they're just as friendly over there."
"Okay," you agree placidly. "I'd like to get to know Lancelot a little better if that's okay, but I'll leave in a few minutes. I promise."
And Sirius is forced to confront the idea that he might be as dumb as the frog in your palm, because he believes you. He trusts instinctively that you're the sort of person who keeps promises.
"Okay," he says. He really does need to move on if he's going to get back to the palace in time for breakfast, and he can always check these woods again later to ensure you've truly left. "Give the frogs my best."
"Oh, I'm sure they know they have it. But I'll pass along the message anyway, thanks."
"I hope it was worth getting your trousers muddy," says Remus, forking a piece of fruit. "Molly's not going to be happy with you for doing that just after laundry day."
Sirius waves this off as though Molly Weasley doesn't scare him. (She very much does.) "I'll tell Molly I was saving a damsel from the creek. She could have drowned if not for my heroism."
"You did actually wait to make sure she left, right?" James looks wary.
"Of course," Sirius fibs.
"Okay, great." His friend relaxes, munching on a piece of toast contentedly. "I'm sure the trouser stains will be fine, then."
This is, of course, why James is a better knight than Sirius. They were both raised with the same education and honed the same skills, but James is disciplined. He wakes before sunrise to practice his drills, polishes his armor during his free time, and follows (most of) the rules. If James found you catching frogs by the creek, he would have gallantly escorted you off of the palace grounds. Sirius, only half awake and with a flexible attitude towards rules on his best days, had gotten down there in the muck with you.
Though Sirius' competencies have granted him good standing in the knighthood, he doesn't see himself being made Captain of the Guard or anything like that. He's not sure he'd want to be. He enjoys his position now, so long as it continues allowing him to stay here and spend his free hours with his friends.
James would likely change his tune about rules and propriety if he knew how quickly you've become a resting place for Sirius thoughts, but Sirius doesn't think he'll divulge that. Remus already gives him enough shit for running into things heart-first. A few months ago it was the cook, than the traveling harp-player, then the barmaid in town. Sirius has always been susceptible to a pretty face. It's no surprise that he was so easily captivated by you, though your mesmerism goes beyond your looks.
His mind keeps catching on flashes of your careful hand reaching for a leaf. Of how the dappled sunlight had fallen on your shoulders like kisses of warmth. Of how at home you'd looked in the rising mist of dawn, as though you might vanish with it.
He thinks he might return to that part of the woods later with the excuse of making sure you've gone, but really he'll be hoping you've stayed.
"Sirius?"
He startles at the appearance of the man at his shoulder, nearly dropping his fork. Remus raises an amused brow.
"Morning, Xeno." Sirius puts on a smile, turning. "What can I do for you?"
"Her Majesty has asked for you, when you're done with your breakfast."
He thinks his eyes possibly grow rounder than ever before. "The Queen?"
"Yes," says Xeno mildly.
"Inâwhere, in her quarters?"
"In her sitting room, actually."
"What for?" Sirius looks to his friends instinctively. But James' eyes are as wide as Sirius', and Remus only shrugs.
"I heard the princess is coming back," Dorcas supplies from a few seats down.
Remus makes a sound of intrigue. "For a visit, or for good?"
Dorcas shrugs.
"Mate!" James grabs Sirius' shoulder, shaking him about elatedly. "She's got to be assigning you to the princess' guard. That would be massive!"
Only James could be so genuinely ecstatic for Sirius' achievement, even if they all know he deserves it more himself.
The princess, never seen or known by anyone in the kingdom, was sent away soon after her birth so that she could grow up with an ordinary life. Rumors swirled about what that might entail for a child of the crown, but the most prominent one was that she was being raised by her aunts in the countryside, her identity kept secret. There's been so little news of her for so long, some have even begun to wonder whether there ever was a royal baby. Sirius supposes she'd be all grown up by now, though. Maybe her grandmother finally decided it was time for her to come home.
"I'll, um, yeah." He tries to master his surprise, replying to Xeno, "I'll go in just a minute."
"He'll go now," says James. He stands, hauling Sirius up with him.
Remus chuckles at Sirius' helpless look. "Have fun."
"Try not to fall in love with her." Marlene winks at him. "At least not until you're sure she won't rat you out to her grandmother if it goes south."
"Ha ha," says James, sticking his tongue out at the both of them. "You're all miserly prats."
"You really shouldn't fall in love with her," he says as soon as they leave the dining hall. "I mean, if you can help it. If you can't, then that's fate, and I hope you spend many beautiful years together, but if you can help it, that's probably better. For professional reasons."
"I will do my best," Sirius replies drolly.
"That's all we ever ask." James hooks an arm around Sirius' neck, pulling him close. He plants a happy kiss on Sirius' cheek. "Are you happy? You seem sort of in shock."
"I am in shock." It's the truth, though the other half of it is that Sirius is aghast at himself for his disappointment that this new venture might prevent him going into the woods to see if he can find you again today. He gives his head a rough shake. "It's hardly ten."
James laughs. "If Her Majesty can be awake and alert at ten, I think she'll expect you to be." He gives Sirius' cheek a hearty pat. "Look alive, mate."
Soon, Sirius finds himself at the door in front of the Queen's personal sitting room while James fusses with his hair.
"You've earned this," his friend says, with the kind of unwavering certainty only James has ever been able to feel for Sirius. "You're perfect for the job. She wouldn't have asked for you if she didn't know that, too." He pauses, looking Sirius in the face. "Do you need me to knock for you?"
Sirius takes a breath, banishing you from his mind. He has a princess he has to look out for now, apparently. "I've got it." He reaches for the door and knocks twice.
James grins, squeezing his shoulder. "You'll be brilliant," he says before darting away.
"Come in," a voice calls from inside.
Sirius squares his shoulders as he enters, trying to look very knightly. It's not his first time standing in front of the Queen, though it is the first that he's been summoned specifically and not as a part of some sort of ceremony. His eyes find her quickly in the large room, perched elegantly on the end of a sofa. Sitting on the floor beside Her Majesty is another woman. Legs criss-crossed beneath a coffee table, lifting a pastry towards her mouth with the sort of hand a frog might want to rest in for a while.
Sirius remembers at the last minute not to let his mouth drop open, or to let his posture slump, or to do any of the very unknightly things his body wants to.
But you smile when you see him, and his heart thumps powerfully. "It's you," you say, sounding pleasantly surprised. "Hello again."

â
A blur of trees rushes past you, dizzying and terrifying as the cold wind bites your skin and seeps into your bones. A twig creaks behind you, breaking in half and rasping the leaves as you run, diving between bushes and narrowly missing the branch that cuts right through your collarbone. Your throat constricts with fear, hands shaking either from cold or dread as you fight against your best instincts to try and free yourself. In your desperation to escape, and the simmering sensation that the entity that chases you draws closer, you shrug the jacket offâgasping for air when you trip with the uneven grounds of the forest.Â
A shadow weaves through the trees, dark as the open skies and whispering curses in a language long spoken by anyone in this town. Their eyes, red and burning with vengeance zero on you when it stops in front of you, scrambling in an attempt to get away.Â
You try to speak, but the dread has taken a shape unbearable to utter, where all the words you manage to utter are mantras to calm yourself, knowing itâs a losing battle to stop it from hurting you. It takes a step closer, then another; in eerie silence that is a stark contrast to the chase that brought you to this side of the woods.Â
âPâPlease,â you say, wavering and low as the beating of your heart. Cold causing your pleads to feel heavy on your tongue. âDonâtââ
The voice that speaks, in a fleeting moment of clarity, isnât quite yours. Hoarse and low like it belongs to someone else, rumbling in your throat as you scramble back with a hand spread out in front of you. Like that alone could save you from the entity that kneels before you.
âDonât get any closer.â
The entity opens it mouth, a shape you barely make out with the darkness of the night. The whispers get louder, louder in its volume and desperation as it crawls towards youâcloser and closer, in the same direction you scramble backwards to get away from it. You curse loudly when your back hits the trunk of a tree, rasping your skin over the thin material of your shirt.Â
âDonâtâdonât you fucking touch me,â you try again, a voice that isnât quite yours. Borrowed cadence for a similar sentiment, you try to push the shadow away with your palm, but it only crawls closer. âWhat do you want?â
The shadow spreads a hand out, inches away from your own as its black eyes bore into yours. You swear it cracks a smile as it leans closer.
âI want⌠you.â It whispers.Â
Its palm touches yours. Then, you wake up with a start.
âśâ.Ë
"Do we have everything?"
"Yes, Lils." James nods. "I promise you everything is still exactly like I bagged it a minute ago."
You look up from your magazine, bending slightly to the side over the line to see the culprits behind the stalling. Paper bags crinkle with their movements as they try to hurry with their shopping, between whispered arguments and half-hearted glares. Neither of them notice you at first, and you set the magazine back in its place with achingly slow speed. Hoping it conceals you with the rest of the patrons in line, hoping they won't recognize you.
Outside, the sun shines bright and casts warm rays through the window. You slip your sunglasses back to your eyes, between the brightness and this unexpected reunion you wish won't actually happen, it's enough to make your head pound harsher. You hug your own groceries closer to your chest as they bicker between themselves and Arthur, the shopkeeper, finishes ringing them up.
You look around the shop, then tilt your chin up to try and get a peek through the window at the street. To check if your bike is still safely parked, and knowing itâs useless âcause nothing ever happens in this placeânot even stolen bikes. A few tourists walk past, and it takes you a small nudge from the woman behind you to realize the line is moving.Â
As usual, Arthur makes small talk with each person he rings up, and while usually a conversation you donât shy away from, this time you feel a tad guilty at your short answers when itâs your turn and he asks you if youâre better and then about your scrapped knees, if the ointments helped and advising you to be more careful with your biking. He rings up your groceries and the healing creams you initially came for, sharing quips and musings about the flock of tourists that arrived this morning and have been coming into the shop for days now. Itâs hard to keep up with your pounding headache, and youâre secretly grateful to whoever walks in that distracts him from asking more follow-up questions.
âSee you around,â you mumble, gathering your stuff against your chest and making your way to the exit.
Itâs in this attempt to escape that you crash into someone that walks in your way. The box of cereal and frozen peas go flying, and Pandora Rosier scrambles to pick them up along with the papers that flew off her own arms with the collision.
âOh, sorry,â you say, bending to collect the ones that landed a bit farther from her reach. âI didnât see you, sorry.â
âItâs okay,â she says quietly, accepting the ones you hand back. But she pushes one single flyer into your palm. âKeep this one, though.â
You glance down, frowning at what you see. A picture of a boy that is a carbon copy of her, with his heterochromic, manic eyes and platinum hair. Hogwarts Police Department. Missing Person: Evan Rosier, 21 years old. Last seen: Frontyard. Important details: He was wearing a brown leather jacket. The boy in front of you smirks in mischief, taunting enough that you must force your gaze away and look around the shop instead.
âIâmâŚâ you start to say, but words die on your throat. Youâre sorry? For what? âIâll keep an eye out,â you say instead.
Pandora sends you a tight-lipped smile and turns to continue handing them out as she walks through the shop. You fold it once, then twice, and then shove it inside the pocket of your trousers before making your way out the corner shop. The weather is still quite humid and oppressive enough that you wince at the mere sight of your bikeâheat emanates off the seat as you set your groceries into the basket.Â
A few tourists walk past and smile at you, weaving through the streets and crossing without once checking twice if a carâs coming. Not tourists, then. You nod in greeting, pushing your bike along the street and keeping your head low when a pair of familiar voices travel all the way from across the corner.Â
âNo, lovie. I did not forget to get theââ James starts to say. He makes a startled sound, bordering on giddiness. ây/n! Hi!â
âFor fuckâs sake,â you whisper under your breath. Itâs at record time in which you school your expression. A stark contrast to the speed you turn around to wave at him. âHi, James⌠and Lily.â AndâŚÂ
âWell, well, wellâŚâ Sirius Black says, half leaned back over the boot of the car. Ankles crossed and sunglasses half slid down the bridge of his nose. He doesnât even deign to pretend heâs helping James load the beer in. âIsnât it the young promise herself?â
You bite back an eyeroll, then remember youâre actually wearing your sunglasses. âSirius,â you greet him, voice deadpan and barely an inch of movement with your nod. Though your smile turns genuine when Lily waves you over. âHi, Lily.â
âHi, honey. Long time no see,â she smiles, not wasting any second as she wraps her arms around you in a tight embrace. You return it, feeling strangely warm by her greetingâand a tad sentimental, but that must have less to do with her and more with your current, er⌠predisposition. âYou cut your hair?â
âHuh?â your hand flies to your hair. âOh, right. Just a bitâitâs all grown now, I always cut it before the season starts.â
James grins as he turns to you, arms around a box of carbonated lemonades. âGreat season by the way. That last goal was wicked good.â
You shrug, sheepish and a little confident. âThat was all Marlene.â
Sirius pushes his glasses up to the crown of his head, smirking. âThatâs true, but she couldnât have done it with that lovely winger of hers, huh?â
âEnvious?â you raise an eyebrow at him, fixing your hold around the handlebars of your bike.Â
âHardly.â
James laughs. âHe totally is.â
âEnvious, no,â Sirius shakes his head. âI do admit Iâm a bit miffed, but Iâll survive.â
âLike you survived that loss in year 9?â
If it's possible, Jamesâ laugh gets louder. Even Lily snickers, pretending to fix her lip gloss when Sirius sends her a halfhearted glare. You only shrug, saying goodbye with a single nod before continuing your walk down the street.Â
Lily pauses when she glances down at your knees, fully healed now but the sight of them is enough to make anyone pause. âOh, you really did a number on your legs.â
You follow her gaze, a mix of recognition and annoyance flashing across your eyes. James hisses. âFuck.â
âSânothing. Just a small fall downââ
âDown the road, by the woods?â Sirius finishes off, crossing his arms and smirking when you roll your eyes. You almost ask how he knows, but the answer is obvious, and he speaks before you can even part your lips, anyway. âSprout has told the entire town how good your first aid skills are.â
âOf course,â you groan. âOf course she saw me eat dirt in the woods, of all places.â
Lily laughs. âAnd you know better than to go biking around the same time the herbology club is out.â
âThat was a whole week ago, couldnât they switch to something lessâŚâ
âHilarious?â Sirius supplies.
âEmbarrassing,â you correct, sending him a halfhearted glare. Muscle memory of childhood bickering. In the same sentiment, he flashes you a grin.Â
James clears his throat. âI sâpose itâs easier to gossip about you falling off your bike than⌠well,â he juts his chin towards the corner shop, where Pandora stands outside still handing out fliers.
You instinctively reach into the pocket of your trousers, feeling the folded paper grow in weight in the same way the uncomfortable knot in your chest tightens. A tense silence settles between your huddled bunch, and even Sirius pushes himself off the car to appear less blasĂŠ when he makes eye contact with Pandoraâhe nods at her with a tight jaw before she walks away and into the shop next door to continue handing out the fliers.Â
Sirius slides the sunglasses down to his nose, clearing his throat to level his voice to sound a tad more casual. âIs that all, Prongs?â he asks, raising his chin to check the contents of their shopping trolley. âDid you get the mixers?â
âRemus said heâs got them,â James answers distractedly, fiddling with his car keys. Thereâs a faint tension to his stance as he closes the boot of the car. âArthur said he had to store them away, by the way. Something about an alcohol ban for the time being.â
âAlcohol ban?â you frown, looking back at the shop. And lo and behold, the shelves where he usually keeps the alcohol are now empty. Itâs weird you didnât noticeâtoo deep in your head in your hurry to slip out of the shop unnoticed. âFor how long?â
Sirius makes an amused sound. âWhy? Have any plans we should be clued into?â
You roll your eyes at him.Â
âHe didnât say,â Lily answers, busying herself reapplying gloss by the carâs window. âBut he was nice enough to sell us thoseâwhy an alcohol ban, anyway?â
âYeah, he was last seen by his house. Not at a party,â you add, crossing your ankles to lean on the handles of your bike.Â
âHe was having a few drinks with Junior and Reg,â Sirius explains, fixing his sunglasses and turning to the window to fix them properly. Something for his hands to do, you suppose. âSaid heâd go take out the recycling bin and didnât come back.â
You brows furrow, looking away. âHe didnât come back inside?â
Sirius shrugs. âThatâs all Reg said.â
He doesnât elaborate nor does he add anything else, and you take it for what it means. You clear your throat, looking down at your bike and then back at the car. âAnd youâre still going through with the party?â
âReckon we need a distraction.â
âAnd what does Moody say about that?âÂ
âWhat the inspector doesnât know wonât kill him,â he shrugs, lips twitching into a smirk when you roll your eyes again. âAnd thatâs what he gets for interrogating my brother the entire bloody morning.â
James clicks his tongue in disapproval. âNot sure what his plan is when the facts are the same as they were last night.â
âDid they bring Junior for interrogation, too?â you ask. âHe ought to know better than Regulus.â
They both shrug, years of friendship turned brotherhood seeping into that single response.Â
âHmâŚÂ At least the inspector is actually doing something.â
Lily huffs a laugh. âRunning around like a headless chicken, you mean?â
You shrug in answer. âItâs better than nothing,â you glance down at your basket, checking your things are still there. âWell, see you aroundââ
âYouâre not going?â
âI think Iâll pass this year,â you answer, trying to appear sorry and knowing you have failed.Â
Sirius tilts his head to the side, inky black curls falling on his face. âYou didnât strike me as a paranoid person.â
âIâm not. I just donât feel like it,â you answer, without so much as meeting his gaze. Or rising to his bait. âMight stop by later if I change my mind,â you add, sending James and Lily a little smile.
âOf course, honey,â she nods, stepping in your way to give you a quick hug. âBe careful, okay?â
âSure,â you send her a tight-lipped smile, trying to not think about the flyer in your pocket. The throbbing in your head gets harsher, and you look away to hide the wince that you have to bite back. âHave fun.â
âAnd no reroutes into the woods!â Sirius calls out as you walk away.Â
âYeah!â Jamesâ voice follows, forcing levity into his tone. âOr a biking ban might be in order!â
You only wave them off, pushing the bike at achingly slow speed and not deigning to pretend youâre going to bike home. You feel your skull vibrating with the headache that overcomes you, harsher and harsher the farther you walk from the town and into the woods. Like Sirius said, what they donât know wonât hurt themâand you reckon that a small shortcut through the woods wonât hurt anyone. Thereâs a specific matter youâd like to attend without prodding but well-intentioned friends interrupting you.
Even if it hurts to form a coherent thoughtâor at least one that is clear enough to be helpful, you try to recall the path you biked through that time you fell, weeks ago. The moment itself itâs blurry with the mix of embarrassment and frustration, a faint stinging sensation in your knees and the stickiness of the blood that dripped down your leg. Too theatrical for a silly stumble with your bikeâat your big age, mind you.Â
Youâre careful of the uneven ground and the branches that are in the way, even if the reason for your fall wasnât remotely related to any of them. Youâre still quite confused as to how it even happened, how you suddenly found yourself falling headfirst into the ground, knee biting the gravel.Â
âOkay,â you mutter to yourself, leaning your bike against an uneven and bizarrely big trunk of a fallen tree, one of many, careful of the bags in the basket so they donât slip out and into the mud.Â
With a flickering memory flashing through your mind, you turn around, brows furrowing in confusion when a familiar sensation tugs you in a direction deeper into the woods, past the stretch of pines and into an opening that you immediately recognize. Both from your fall and⌠and your dream.
You shake your head. Itâs just a dreamâmaybe your subconscious concocted that idea, grasping for the last place you remembered and using it as backdrop to that⌠whatever that was. Whatever, thatâs not the reason youâre here.
âHm, so I fell around here,â you mutter to yourself, lowering slowly to kneel and try to recreate a bit of how you fell. Hands patting the wheat and the grass and the gravel. If you were your iPod, where would you land in the hypothetical scenario you came flying with the fall? âSo maybe around⌠hereâŚâ
You continue patting the grounds, then shift to sit properly, exactly the way you did when you landed around this same spot. I sat, checked my knees and saw the blood, you remind yourselfâfeeling ridiculous as you try to recreate that mortifying fall. You hum, setting your palms back on the ground. âCleaned the blood, then stood upâŚâ you do exactly that, standing up. A memory strikes you with the movement.Â
Of course, the blood. You glance down, remembering how you accidentally left a bit of blood on the trunk you used to stand after cleaning your knees. âMaybe if I find the stainâŚâ you mumble to yourself, doing a little turn to locate the trunk. Maybe it can lead you to where the iPod might have landed.
âIt should be somewhere aroundâŚâ you round the tree, scanning the dried leaves that have fallen around it and the roots that grew in every direction. It takes you a few rounds to realize that the trunk you used for support wasnât a trunk at all, it was a thick root. And there, between a small mountain of leavesâyou catch the glistening of your iPod. âAha.â
You move them aside to take it, feeling mildly surprised when you notice the screen is slightly cracked. Or, actually, too cracked for a silly little fall. Just as theatrical as you, then. You thumb it absentmindedly and glance around the stretch of grass, an opening that is usually used for camping and hiking when the weather isnât as cruel as the temperatures are lately. Itâs interesting that, of all places, your brain picked this one specifically.
You shrug, whatever, you got your iPod and the peas are probably melting off. Maybe youâll stop by the Prewettsâ shop tomorrow to check if they can fix the screen, itâs not the end of the world. You turn around, ready to go back, but it strikes you that the root of the tree is clean. Without an ounce of blood like you remember.Â
You canât help it, you crouch to check again. Mostly out of curiosity rather than confusion, surely the townâs cleaning staff doesnât make a point of cleaning roots of trees deep into the woods. Youâre not sure if theyâre even allowed to get too far from the town. Or maybe you thought you were bleeding and it was just a dizzy supposition. Itâs hard to take yourself seriously with this stupid headache, itâs a miracle you even managed to find the iPod.Â
Whatever, it was probably the rain.Â
You carefully push yourself to stand, and in the same moment, a branch snaps somewhere near. Your head whips around, eyes slightly widened in both surprise and alertâhow can you not? Even if it was a dream and now a missing person, itâs always good to be on high alert. The sound gets nearer, and you grip the iPod tighter, taking tentative steps away from the root and the tree altogether. Your bike suddenly feels like itâs miles and miles away.Â
Leaves crunch with the weight of steps, shuffling closer and closer you feel the air getting knocked out of your lungs in sudden panic. You forgo any further investigations or curiosity to walk away, itâs not worth it anyway. The steps get closer the faster your pace gets, throat constricting with dread and stomach hollowing in a way that you know that trying to catch your breath will be a futile task. Fuck, fuck, fuckâ
Another step, and it halts as the branch breaks in half under their shoe. âOh, hi,â the voice says, immense with familiarity and not at all dread at nearly clashing into you. Mr. Sprout stretches a hand out to steady you when you spring away from her in shock. âOh, myâIâm so sorry for scaring you, dear.â
âFuck,â you say in a sharp exhale, hand flying to your chest. You can feel the unmistakable pounding in your chest against your palm. âFuck, sorry. Um, justâyou scared me.â
Mr. Sprout chuckles, and a few more follow. The rest of her friends from her herbology club. âYouâre quite alright, dear. I should be sorry, for getting in your way like that.â
You swallow, trying to ease the trapped nerves in your throat. âYou⌠youâre okay. Uh, sorry for interrupting,â you point at your bike, now properly parked by the trunk instead of haphazardly thrown to its side. âIâll just⌠get going.â
âBest to be more careful, y/n. You know better than to wander in the woods alone after that horrid tumble, and now with⌠well, you know,â she says, and whispers follow as she turns to her friends. Bunch of meddling little ladies.Â
âYeah, thanks,â you take your bike, giving the kickstand a small push to keep it moving. âYou be careful as well.â
âOh,â one of them waves you off with a chuckle. âArenât you sweet? We know these woods better than anyone, weâll be alright.â
âOff you go!â Mr. Sprout says, gesturing at you to walk away with a little smile. âWeâll watch you from here in case you trip.â
You chuckle, a strained sound that is mostly your frayed nerves than actual amusement. âThanks, but no need for any of that.â
A chorus of voices echo behind you, overlapping with the leaves crunching under your steps and the wheels of your bike. It takes a while before the pounding of your heart simmers into something less tense, you rub a thumb on your jaw to try to unclench it as you walk the rest of the way out the woods and into the road.
As soon as you position the bike in the scorching concrete, someone clicks their tongue. âWhat did we say about going into the woods?â Sirius asks, sounding very smug and not at all disappointed like heâs trying to appear with that frown.
You roll your eyes. âWhat? Youâre following me now?â
âDonât flatter yourself, I happened to catch you changing course.â
âYeah, well,â you walk past him, pushing your bike a tad slower. âYou still stood here waiting for me.â
The window for the passenger seat slides down, and Lily flashes you a somewhat sorry smile. âThat mustâve been my fault,â she leans her crossed arms over the door. âYouâre very predictable.â
âI was just looking for my iPod,â you wave it around, explaining yourself to them for some reason. âBut thanks for checking, I sâpose.â
You try to take a step forward, pausing when Sirius slides into your path. He tilts his head, flashing you yet another grin that itâs beginning to annoy you. âWhere are you off to, miss?â
âWhat, are you going to walk me home? Like Iâm an unruly child?â
âMaybe,â he answers, voice dripping with mirth. âUnless youâre thinking about taking another detour? So I can make the proper arrangements.â
âWhat he means,â James says, leaning over the steering wheel to smile at you. âis that if youâd like a lift. Right, Pads?â
Your lips twitch, turning to look back at Sirius. He takes half a step back with a barely contained groan at your amused reaction. âPads?â you repeat, eyeing him curiously. âThey still call you that? You still side tackle people in your free time?â
Sirius rolls his eyes, a dismissal that all it does is pique your curiosity even more. He slides his sunglasses back to the crown of his head, pushing long black locks behind his ears. âDo you want the lift or not?â
âOccasionally,â Lily answers your question, wrinkling her nose in camaraderie when your gazes meet. She only looks away to send Sirius a chiding look, one of many youâve seen thrown at him in the many years youâve been friends. âDonât be rude. Just help her out.â
You sober up. âOh, no, itâs okay,â you wiggle your fingers over the handlebars of your bike, guiding it around Sirius seeing he simply wonât move. âYouâve got things to do. And âsides, itâs not very far.â
âPlease?â James asks, already jumping out the driver's seat to open the boot of his car. âFor our peace of mind.â
âMine, mostly,â Lily adds, winking in your direction when you hesitate.Â
Your flimsy attempt to stretch the bit lasts nothing, and she grins triumphally when you point your bike at Sirius. He uncrosses his arms and takes it from you, pausing just enough to hand you the bag of groceries and round the car to lean the bike by its side. James moves a few things inside, the beers and the food theyâve bought for their partyâall shoved carefully to the very back to make room.Â
Lily is humming in barely contained delight when you climb into the backseat across from her. You send her a halfhearted glare that is mostly to get a laugh out of her rather than to show genuine upset. Thankfully, she knows you well enough to pick up on this as she turns back in her seatâabsentmindedly fiddling with the radio and the AC. It drowns out the complaints coming from the back as James and Sirius continue bickering about trunk tetris.Â
âI canât believe you went back just to fetch your iPod,â she chuckles.Â
âHey, it was expensive,â you shift, half leaning your weight by the door to try and catch the breeze of the AC. âAnd I had just downloaded the new Franz Ferdinand album.â
Lilyâs laugh gets a tad louder at this, and a bit fond, too, if you dare to think too much about it. You prop an arm over the window ledge, looking around and out towards the woods. The doors at your side open simultaneously, letting in the heat and the cacophony of voices from James and Sirius as they say goodbye to the Herbology Club. Going on and on about how handsome theyâve gotten and to be careful around these parts of the town, both boys wave them off as James turns the engine and drives away.
You swear you see something moving through the woods, a blur of shadow before it disappears between the trees after you blink. They remain silent and unmoving, a tad bright with the sun peeking from the openings of branches as James gains speed. You frown, shifting to lift your hips and wave Sirius away when he asks what youâre on about just to meddle at youâhe quickly moves on to make talk with James when you donât take the bait. You try to turn on your iPod, check if itâs still working or if youâll really need to take it into town for inspection.Â
It turns on normally, though the screen is barely visible with its cracks. You slide your finger and pause when you realize what song is currently playing, not one youâve ever downloaded or remotely similar to the one you were listening to when you fell. One Hundred Years by The Cure.
âśâ.Ë
You exhale, holding the bag of peas against your forehead with funny familiarity to mid season weekend plans, when youâd have to stay home under your coachâs instructions after a rather bad tackle in a match or during training. With the other hand, you hold the phone around and a bit away from your ear, you can still distinctly make out Marleneâs voice as she continues scolding you for not calling her sooner.Â
âYeah,â you say, just because. Youâve got no clue what sheâs nagging you about now. âHm.â
âYeah, what? That you agree you should have a leash attached to you at all times?â
You blink. âWhat?â
âI knew it,â her voice gains conviction, smug and a little irritated as well. âYou werenât even listening!â
You tilt your head back over the top of the sofa, balancing the bag over your head to free your hands. âIâve already heard it all from Lily all the drive back,â you explain, then pause. Eyes flickering to the coffee table. âAnd how dare you come for me when youâve been meddling with my music again?â
Marlene makes a sound, equal parts baffled and indignant. âWhat are you on about now?â
âAnd The Cure, really?â you close your eyes, feeling your insides melting with the iciness of the plastic, sticking to your skin. Movement picks up outside the window and you switch the phone to your other ear to glance over the sofa. âYou still trying to impress Meadowes?â
Outside the window, Remus walks past on his way out his house. He waves at you when you meet eyes through the window, you return it distractedly. Remus makes an inviting gesture, pointing behind his shoulder in what you know is a question about why youâre still home and not at the party. You raise the bag of peas for him to see, then down at your knees. He parts his lips in realization, stopping in his tracks where he was making his way to your front yard. You shrug in a sorry manner, and he returns it with a little smile before waving goodbye.Â
The phone creaks to life with Marleneâs scoff. âI hardly need it, when sheâs so infatuated with meââ she cuts herself off, shrieking platifully. âIâm joking!â
âYou better be,â you hear Dorcasâ dry answer.Â
You walk to the window and open it to lean by the ledge, watching as Remus checks his passenger seat where heâs loaded the mixers and the few six packs heâs managed to score before the ban could be in effect. He sends you another nod when your gazes meet.Â
âBe careful,â you call out.
âYou, too,â he answers, stopping as he leaves the door open. âJust because youâre home doesnât mean you shouldnât be careful.â
âWill do.â
Remus smiles and slides into the driverâs seat, he doesnât start the engine until you close the window and walk away. In your hand, the phone continues emitting muffled sounds as Marlene, and now a caught up Dorcas, continue scolding you for your little detour in the woods. Honestly, nothing passes by this godforsaken town.Â
ây/nâŚ?â
âHm?â you blink, then again as the headlights of his car fade away into the night. âSorry, uh⌠what?â
Marlene sighs. âNow I see why you insisted on staying home tonight. Whereâs your head at, babe?â
âI was just saying goodbye to Remus,â you draw the shutters closed. âHeâs on his way, by the wayâbest to start going or the drinks will be gone by the time you get there.â
âFine. Just for a bit, though.â
âMarls, relax. Itâs just a headache, itâs probably the heat.â
âTell her to drink electrolytes,â you hear Dorcasâ muffled instructions. Keys clinking and steps faint as they leave Marleneâs house, no doubt. âAnd to call me if it persists, she may be concussed.â
âIâm not concussed.â
âYou could be,â Marlene argues. Both for the sake of it and to goad Dorcas on. âBut do call us if you end up feeling worse, yeah?â
âYeah, yeah. Heard, mum. And mum,â you smile to yourself, huffing as plop down across the loveseat. âHave fun.â
âAnd you be careful.â
You snort. âIâm not the one going to a party, though.â
âStill.â
âOkay,â you roll your eyes at her, only because you know she canât see you. âYou two be careful as well. No drunk escapades, okay?â
She shrieks. âI hate you.â
âYeah, yeah. I love you, too.â
You hang up shortly after, and mostly because theyâre already out the door and nearing the party. Small perks of living so close together.Â
The headache has significantly subsided, youâre not entirely sure if the peas helped or maybe it was just tensionâeither way, you rush into your dinner and shower to lay down for the rest of the night. Youâre careful of the tender cuts and rashes of your knees when you rinse, making a point of using the neutral soap Dorcas recommended for that wound and dabbing one or twice with your towel to dry off. By the time you retrieve the frozen peas to set them on your temple again, theyâre hardly necessary.Â
The film options arenât very appealing, seeing theyâve been the same since you moved out and your family didnât have much interest in updating their entertainment cabinet when no one other than you visits during the summer. You settle for Miss Congeniality knowing itâs no use what you pick, your eyes can barely stay open.Â
The opening credits roll and you shuffle comfortably to drape yourself entirely across the sofa, turning to your side with your knees still perfectly propped up over a cushion and away from the blanket so it doesnât get sticky with your cream and ointment. A contented sigh escapes you, finally calm enough to enjoy time to yourself without headaches or balms or grocery runs.Â
You fall asleep shortly after, missing the way your phone buzzes where it slipped down the cushions and into the carpet. It vibrates faintly and barely noticeable with all the texts you receive.
[12:29 P.M] MARLS: oi did u happen 2 see junior walk past ur house? weâve been waiting hours for him n hes supposed to bring the ciggiesÂ

Fog curls around the trees, thick and uncomfortable as it engulfs you, it dissipates as you walk and skip over the moss decorating the ground. A hum follows, echoey as it gets closer, branches crunch and you pause momentarily when the sound doesnât come from your own steps. You glance down, coming face to face with fallen leaves and your bare feet. A breeze runs through the opening youâre standing on, it makes the foliage tickle your shoulder with the wind. You continue your walk, itâs probably nothing.Â
It takes you a few steps deep into the forest to realize the humming hasnât stopped. Then another stretch of following the same trail to realize that youâre the one humming. Low and almost melancholic, a voice that is far too airy to belong to you. Itâs eerily calming, odd in its familiarity as you resume your journey through the woods, a familiar route that youâve seen both in dreams and with your own two eyes. You stretch a hand out, a movement born out of an inner urge that you can't really tell if itâs actually you or something else. You graze your fingertips over the rough and bumpy trees, the smoother bark of the pines and then the leaves and flowers you walk past. You hum again, dreamlike in its quality as you go back to the same place youâve been visiting more and more as of lately.
The foliage swooshes with the breeze of movement, gravel scrapping with quick steps that now youâre definitely sure arenât yours. They sound rough and heavy, like whoeverâs walking is actually wearing shoes in a stark contrast to you. Youâre being followed.
You pick up your pace, eyes zeroed on the opening that calls for youâdarkness that whispers a name in the quietness of the woods, luring you in. Guiding you, almost. The steps follow after you, getting closer and closer until their presence vibrates with an energy you donât have the ability to pinpoint. Strong enough to notice itâs not entirely in the same dimensional range as you.
Somewhere near, a melody echoes through the pines and the trees, carrying a faint tune into your hiding place as you pick up your pace. Music. Voices. Chanting. Like⌠a party. Then, sirens, the steps grow in intensity and quantity, and you find yourself running when both the presence and the music stop. Leaving a deafening silence in the realm of your whereabouts.Â
The tree. The tree. The tree. A voice whispers, not around you. Inside of you. As similar as the humming in its eerie cadence. Fog escapes your lips as you run, jumping over trunks and dodging the shadowy pines that get hidden with the thickness of the fog. My tree, the voice repeats. Familiar from your dream but different in its urgency, in its tone. Like it's guiding you. To save you or to hurt you, itâs hard to tell.Â
You run faster, faster and faster youâre sure youâre nothing but a blur of shadows yourself. Your legs having taken life of their own and moving forward without so much as a second thought, a path youâve walked and biked through times before. You run and run, feeling panic growing in your chest, panic for something unknown that makes you move. My tree, the voice is shrilling the closer you get to it, to its root you had mistakenly thought as a thick trunk. Theyâre here, it shrieks.Â
You look around, panting and feeling your heart in your throat, sprinting through the trees and shrieking when you come stumbling. You land on your forearms, and immediately push yourself to stand and gather your surroundings, to find your footing and where you are. To find these supposed people that are here. The sirens grow in intensity and lights flicker on. With your panicked movements, you scramble to look around, trying to pinpoint the tree. The tree.Â
You take a step back, feeling the presence following you halt, dissolving into something else as it runs away. Itâs hard to make out the shape, both with your panic and the darkness surrounding you. You take another step back, noticing that you canât feel the gravel and the leaves under your toes.Â
As the fog clears, you come face to face to what caused you to stumble and fall. A body. Eyes wide open and bleeding everywhere as it stares at the skies, starless and moonless skies. Mr. Sprout.
Not me. Not me, the voice calls.Â
You whip your head around, flinching away and feeling your ankle twisting on the rock you land on. As your elbows bite the rocky grounds when you fall, you wake up with a start. Gasping for air.Â
âOi!â Someone shouts. âLads, I got something!â
You force yourself to blink, quick and harshly, snapping your head around and then down. At your pyjama bottoms and your trainers and your jumper, the same ones you fell asleep with. You dare to look up, feeling the air getting knocked out of your chest when you make eye contact with Mr. Sproutsâ lifeless gaze.Â
A flashlight flickers on somewhere near, and your heart flies to your throat. âOi! Whoâs there?!â
You scramble away from the body, trying to force your own limbs to cooperate and stand. But you canât, it seems as if someone has pinned you to the ground, unable to move. You try again, with more force and whimper when your shoulder bumps into a years old fallen tree.Â
The steps that get closer are completely different from the ones in your dream, the presence that accompanied you all the way here. Theyâre hurried, loud and thumping as the flicker of flashlights follow. You push yourself to stand, and recoil when someone points it directly at your face.
Inspector Moody pauses. ây/l/n?â he asks. âWhat in the devil are you doing here?â
You part your lips to speak, but the footsteps get closer, and you find yourself surrounded by more people. Someone screams, and gasps follow, they all run into different directions when they spot what lies by your feet.Â
âNo,â you shake your head, taking a step back. âI⌠I found her andââ
A cacophony of screams and orders fly everywhere, more flashlights flicker on and leaves crunch as they run towards you. Someone shouts your name, and the hoarse and familiar cadence of his voice is enough to snap some sense of reality into you. You nearly fall when a hand circles around your wristâyou shove it away, not caring about how it might look when its touch feels like it burnt your skin.
âNo,â you take a step back. Then another. âIt wasnât⌠not me. It wasnât me.â
Before anyone else can react, or try to hold you in place, you run. You run away and donât look back.Â
A/N: I finally got a little bit of time to write a new idea between studying. This is a two part series. Also important to mention: fuck JKR, none of this is intended to shine any light on that psychotic (insert bad word).
TW: mentions of having bad parents, and some inferiority complexes.
While having a break from Hogwarts you wonder what'll happen in the future. You're eager to move out from your parents house and get your own place. But seeing as your boyfriend just went through a similar thing, you're hesitent to share your worries about your future.
The snow was falling slowly around your frame, softly crunching with each step you took down the abandoned London pavement. Christmas lights were put up on all street corners and you could swear there was a faint smell of cinnamon emanating from the air. The holidays were just around the corner, and to everyone else that might've brought on feelings of nostalgia and joy, but it did nothing to alter your mood.
This was your final break before graduating Hogwarts and returning back to your parents for the indefinite future. Hopefully you could get a flat of your own soon enough, but seeing as you've spent years going to a magical school in Scotland, your wallet was seriously lacking in financial safety.
A normal 18 year old would probably move in with friends or their partner, but in your case that would prove difficult. It had been no less than two years since your boyfriend, Sirius, had been disowned by his parents leaving him penniless yet happy and living with the Potter's. And by Merlin, you were happy for him. But in times like these you were frustrated by your predicament.
You couldn't ask Sirius to move in with you in muggle London, neither could you ask to move in with him at the Potter's. Ofcourse, if you did ask Fleamont and Euphemia would gladly take you in, as you practically already spend most of your time there anyways. "You are a kind person Y/N, we appreciate you being here" Fleamont once told you, a few months back on a summer night. The boys were playing a match on their brooms in the back yard as you had engrossed yourself with a book by the small pond.
Flowers were blossoming everywhere and the warmth and laughs were making you feel at peace. Except, ofcourse, the occasional rouge bludger getting a bit too close for comfort.
Fleamont had pulled up a garden chair next to yours, a cup of tea in his hands. He asked you about your book, and then later about how things were going in school. If you remembered to take care of your mental health during the upcoming exams, and to tell off the boys if they disturbed your quiet, as they so often did.
You just laughed and told him that they never were much of a bother.
Your nose is cold from the wind so you adjust your scarf to cover more of your face. Maybe even just to wipe away some tears that have started to appear. It had been just three days since you got home to your parents house and they were already leaving you frustrated and hopeless.
Your childhood had mostly been okay, right up until your 12'th birthday when the letter came and everything changed.
Your father was suddenly incredibly disinterested in everything you did, nothing really seemed to capture his attention. He shut down every conversation about magic immediately. Your mum was even worse, nippicking and belittling every single thing.
You had often wondered if they were jealous of your powers, or if the pressure of having an unconventional child was just too much for them.
The street started to look familiar.
Just a few moments and then you would be right at Lily's doorstep.
You two had grown incredibly close since third year, when an accidental potion mix-up in class resulted in your first ever detention. It also resulted in Lily's notebook melting along with the cauldron, the table and everything else in a small ratio.
Maybe it was because she took pity on you, or felt guilty that Slughorn gave you a particularly hard time for inconveniencing such a good and hardworking student as Evans'.
Anyways, it didn't really matter in the end.
Three hard knocks is all it takes before Lily opens the door and hurries you inside.
"They are absolutely wretched" Lily mutters after your retelling of your latest argument with your parents.
You notice her scowl as she fixes up a place for you to sleep. Lily is particularly good at 'anger-cleaning' as James calls it.
"I mean, I thought my sister was bad.. but this? They should be ashamed" she continues, fluffing the pillow with the might of a hypogrif. "Please tell me you'll move out soon, I can ask my parents if you can move into the guest bedro-" you silence her with your hand over hers, a sigh leaving your lips. You couldn't take the thought of imposing.
"-no Lils, that's not your problem, besides school is gonna be starting soon again anyways, and then we'll graduate" she lets you take a moment in between, sitting down on her bed.
"Then i'll start looking for someplace to live" you smile, laying down on the small purple couch. Lily knows you enough to not push further, even though she thinks you're being slightly unreasonable.
"At least stay for Christmas" is the last thing she says before laying down herself, and somehow it feels more like a sure prophecy, than a suggestion.
Christmas goes by fast, without any inquiries from your parents. No gifts either but that was to be expected.
You're tapping a faint rhythm into Sirius arm. It's hung lazily around your chest as you're zone-ing out, laying sprawled out on your back across his stomach.
The wind is quiet tonight, but the slight chill from the open window reminds you of its presence. It is about a week ago Hogwarts welcomed you back, and your daily routines have already been picked right back up.
Which means Monday nights are for relaxing in Sirius' dorm room. This semester has, by some miraculous intervention, granted you both much needed free time.
Sirius is reading a book. He is holding it up with one hand, laying it down on his bed every couple of minutes to change the page.
"What's that you're reading?" The sound of your voice is warm and muffled. It makes Sirius look down at you for a moment before answering.
"It's ahh, a muggle book-" he shuts it and brings the front of it before you.
"Pride and prejustice, Remus recommended it"
Your eyebrows twitch together, lips slightly parting, before nodding in acknowledgement. You think you remember reading it when you were much younger.
"How far are you?" You inquire.
"Well, so far this bloke Darcy is being a twat to the main character Lizzy, ya know, being all obstinate and arrogant"
"I was gonna ask if it was a biography, but you're mainly just arrogant" you smirk mischievously, awaiting your boyfriend's reaction to your teasing. When you first got together, Sirius' personality didn't allow for much teasing, no matter how playful. It was something that the two of you worked on through your relationship, which improved his self-confidence.
"Right-" he laughed as he tossed aside the book and turning your position so he was on top. "At least I know how to treat my girl" he kissed your neck, lightly gracing his teeth to your skin.
"Hm, I might need to be reminde- ARH" you let out a yelp of surprise as the door flings open, revealing the rest of the marauders storming in.
Peter is the only person apologizing for the intrusion, while the other two bicker about some 'plan' gone wrong. You almost wonder if you accidently cuddled up under James' cloak of invisibility instead of Sirius' red comforter.
Sirius groans as he gets off you, flipping down on his back again, this time rubbing his hand across his face.
"Y/N would agree! Right Y/N/N?" James turns to you looking for some kind of backup in this argument of theirs.
Remus just rolls his eyes.
"Aaand that's my que to leave" you get op, quickly getting your sweater on before bending down to give Sirius a kiss.
His hand lingers on your face, caressing your jaw for a few seconds as he bids you goodnight. And then, with a quick wave and a kiss blown to James, you're out the door.
James grins as he sits on his bed. "Did you have a nice evening in?" He asks the black haired boy whose eyes still linger on the door.
"Yeah, we did" he smiles back.
"I'm glad someone had a good evening at least" Remus sighs dramatically, re-opening the argument that will inevitably last for the next hour.
When Saturday rolls around, Sirius has a great date planned for you two. He got (stole) some of your favorite snacks from the kitchen, and made a little picnic outside in the greenhouse.
He finds you in your dorm after potions class, and away you go.
"- And Pandora told me that Barty Jr. sat fire to it on purpose! Just so Evan could manage to swap out his potion before Slughorn noticed!" Sirius laughs at your story, mostly enjoying your own amusement.
"I'ld do the same for you, ya know" Sirius grins by the time you've found a comfy spot to sit down, surrounded by plants and string lights.
"I bet you would, but you can't risk any more detentions this semester" you laugh. "Believe it or not, but i'ld like to graduate at the same time as my boyfriend"
Sirius snorts as he unfolds the blanket, laying down on the semi dusty ground.
"Your lack of trust in my stealth is unjustified! Name one time- shut up" Sirius shushes you the moment you open your mouth to list all the times his âstealthâ left much to be desired.
It looks like theyâre dropping a teaser trailer for the new Harry Potter reboot tomorrow
Just a few important and gentle reminders:
đŤśđť DO NOT WATCH THIS FUCKING SHOW đŤśđť
If you claim you support human rights - not just trans rights but human rights in general - yet still plan to watch this show, unfollow me. Youâre a fucking hypocrite and I donât want you following me.
Do not watch it even if youâre hate watching it, it still contributes to streaming revenue and views!
The adults in this reboot of the franchise are FULLY accountable for choosing to do this show and accepting a pay cheque over supporting a minority group. Even if they claim they support trans rights, theyâre cowards and donât actually support them at all.
The kids do NOT deserve abuse or hate, whether itâs because youâre comparing them to Dan/Rupert/Emma or because youâre boycotting due to the authorâs views. They are literal CHILDREN.
Your nostalgia over a childrenâs series about kids going to school is NOT more important than trans people being respected and having rights. As long as JKR is still alive, she profits off of this.

Sirius has not even been relishing in the euphoria of his encounter with you for an hour when he is interrupted.Â
Usually an interruption by Remus would be welcome, especially tonight of all nights, when Sirius was planning to show him your portrait and suggest you as a potential wife for him. Not for entirely selfish reasons, but he canât lie and say it isnât mostly so he could enjoy your company more often. You were his muse as of late, no matter how much he tried to shake it off during your absence.Â
The portrait youâd seen, the one that wasnât quite good enough, had been his seventeenth attempt. The other sixteen canvases had been subsequently destroyed in different manners for being unsuitable.Â
And so, when the echo of Remusâ voice had reached Siriusâ ears from down the hall, heâd perked up with a grin. Heâd quickly put down his paintbrush and wiped off his hands and was already practically jumping with joy when the words, and the tone, of Remusâ voice reached him again.
Clearly yelling for help.Â
Siriusâ heart leaps into his throat and he darts down the hallway without a second thought.Â
âRemus!â He yells back, voice now panicked and distraught. Heâs imagining Remus stabbed or with a broken limb when he finally meets him in the doorway, and his world tilts on its axis. Because Remus seems perfectly fine, not even a scratch to be seen. But then thereâs you, limp and clearly unconscious in Remusâ arms.Â
âWhat happened?â If Remus thinks Siriusâ distress is strangely intense, he doesnât mention it, or even throw him a questioning glance. If anything, Remus seems more upset than Sirius does.Â
âShe fell off her horse.â Remusâ voice is not quite a wail, and Sirius quickly steps forward to take you when Remusâ balance falters. You flop into his arms like a doll, and if it wasnât for the slight shaking in your chest with your shallow breaths, he would have been sure you were dead. âI think she mustâve hit her head, and her arm-â He cuts his own voice off with a sharp breath.Â
Sirius adjusts his grip on you. âWe need to get her to the apartment.â He says, âThat is the closest place we can go for the night.â Remus nods in agreement, stepping back outside to signal his carriage once again. Sirius shakes his head. âIt will be faster to walk, itâs not far.â
He doesnât hesitate, long strides that quicken with each step, moving as fast as he can manage without jostling you too much. Remus is on his heels.Â
Once you get settled in, and the two of them are sure youâll live, Sirius will tell Remus about the painting, about his idea, and why he was so afraid to see you limp in his loverâs arms. Remus will tell Sirius that he was already planning to arrange a meeting between the two of you, and they will laugh about the irony of fate. And you will be privy to none of it.Â
You fade in and out of consciousness. Somewhere along the way, it becomes evident to you that you mustâve hit your head, the pain radiating throughout your entire skull. Your arm still hurts, and pain became one of the only things you noticed in the small glimpses of life you were able to catch between being engulfed in darkness. The pain, and the jostling of the carriage you must have been in, which made the pain worse.Â
Someone is cradling your head. You canât manage to open your eyes enough to see their face, and even if you could, your slight glimpses show that the night outside might be just as dark as the one behind your eyelids. Every once in a while, you think a thumb brushes over your forehead, but itâs so faint, you wonder if you imagined it. Itâs the only pleasant thing you feel over your entire body. Later, youâll look back and be grateful that you werenât conscious for most of the carriage ride.
When you finally fully awaken, youâre in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room. Your breath catches, eyes dashing from wall to wall rapidly, taking it all in. The bed is comfortable, not quite as elaborate as your own at home but⌠large. Very large, almost as large as the room itself. There are things tossed about, clothes and pillows and blankets. Itâs a mess. The walls are covered in canvases, arranged with no rhyme or reason, though each one beautiful in its own way. The style is familiar, but you push the thought aside in favor of hissing and trying to raise a hand to your aching temple as you slowly sit up.Â
Trying to, but unable, as you find your shoulder restricted in a make-shift sling. Itâs only then that you realize you have been undressed. Youâre in a kind of linen shift, clearly too big for you. Your heart stops and you swing your legs over the side of the bed only to groan and double over, a sharp pain radiating from your right side and shooting through the rest of you.Â
You let yourself fall back against the pillows, eyes on the ceiling as you try to remember where you are or how you got here. Things are blurry at best: a soft feeling on your forehead, the familiar rocking of a carriage, and the sound of horses-Â
Oh. Thatâs right. You fell off your horse. And then, just before youâd faded into unconsciousnessâŚÂ
Lord Lupinâs face.Â
Thereâs a creaking sound, and your heart restarts, practically leaping into your throat. Your eyes dash toward it, to the door, where it is pushed open and there he stands.
âOh, good. Youâre awake.â The Viscount steps into the room with a breakfast tray, and every part of you feels hot. Are you in his home? Are you in his bed?Â
âLord Lupin, I-â You hope that he canât see the mosaic of emotions running through you plain on your face as you lift the blanket to cover more of yourself.Â
âYouâve been sleeping for quite a while.â He says, setting the breakfast tray aside on the bedside table. He looks down at you, and you suddenly wonder how you must look. Probably horrific.Â
âWhere am I?â You ask, eyes darting around the room again. You cannot be certain, but you donât feel as though you are back in Mayfair. âThis isnât Lupin House.âÂ
Lord Lupin smiles, one of the soft ones that makes your heart flutter and your stomach warm. âYou are absolutely right. This is not Lupin House, this is my apartment in London.â
âLondon?â Had you been in bad enough shape that he didnât think you could make it to Mayfair? He seems to read your mind.
âMy apartment is right on the edge of town.â He explains, and moves to sit on the edge of the bed next to you. Your stomach seems to adopt your heartâs affinity for doing acrobatics, and you swallow thickly, shifting your body away from him just enough so that you canât feel his body heat through the blanket. âYou were unconscious, and it was late. I thought it would be best to bring you here instead of making your body suffer through a longer journey back to Mayfair. I promise your virtue is safe and intact.â
âOf course it is.â The words leave you as if they are obvious, your eyebrows furrowing. âWe are not yet married.âÂ
Something flashes deep in Remusâs eyes, and the confusion on your face becomes mimicked on his own, his thick brows pushing together, two deep lines forming between them. His lips part, presumably for him to speak, but he doesnât get the chance.Â
The door creaks again. You tense, your body leaning toward Remus instinctually so heâd be able to protect you from whoever could be invading your privacy only to see-
âAh, Sirius!â Sirius? The name is so unexpected, and so is the face that appears at the threshold of the room. Lord Lupin stands, leaving you alone and still as a rock, feeling like youâre the butt of a joke you havenât even heard. Remus steps up to him and the two of them begin to whisper too soft for you to hear.
âSirius?â Your voice sounds hollow, and for a moment you wonder if maybe youâre still dreaming. You did hit your head, after all, would it be out of the realm of possibility that you would have a dream like this? Your eyes blink slower than they should and you feel dizzy.Â
You must make a sound, or some kind of movement, because you catch the attention of both men. Your free, unslinged hand raises to your head and Remus is quick to step by your side again.Â
âAre you alright?â He asks, gaze darting over your figure like heâs worried you might keel over. You truly think you might. Your body feels numb and yet you can feel both menâs gazes on you sharp as a knife. Youâve never been ill anywhere without your mother before, either, and-
Oh no. Your mother.Â
You sit up suddenly, body scrambling past Remusâ until your feet are on the floor. âI have to go!â You cry out, though the moment youâre upright, youâre suddenly⌠not. The world spins and your visions blurs and you can hear both men dashing toward you, arms gently guiding you back onto the mattress.Â
âWhere are you off to in such a hurry, gorgeous?â Siriusâ voice is as smooth and teasing as you remember it, and Remus speaks at the same time, his voice reassuring and gentle. âI already sent word to your mother.â
Your eyes, as well as Siriusâ, turn to him. You blink a few times, trying to catch your breath and fight back the nausea that threatens to bubble up inside you. âYou have?â You ask him.Â
Remus nods once, finally letting his hand fall from your arm. You hadnât noticed it had still been there, but now the absence of it burns. He clears his throat, âI told her you were hurt while riding and I was taking you to my apartment in London just until youâre well enough to travel home.â You open your mouth to ask further questions but he holds up a hand. âNot to worry, I told her we wereâŚâ He gives Sirius a side glance, âchaperoned.â
Sirius snorts loudly, his hand still on your arm and giving it a squeeze. You finally let your eyes turn to the artist, taking in his features like heâs a long lost friend as opposed to a slightly more-than-aquaintance whom youâd seen just the night before. You watch the way his lips perk into a smirk, his head shifting to flick his hair aside just as he says, âI doubt anyone in the Ton would consider me a responsible chaperone.â Remus rolls his eyes.Â
You gape like a fish at Sirius for longer than you should before youâre blurting out, âWhat on Earth are you doing here?â
Both men, who had already been quiet, somehow silence further. They look at each other, seemingly conversing through eye contact alone, before looking back at you.Â
âYou told me that there was one suitor you wanted to propose to you,â Sirius speaks slowly, like heâs unsure of how you might react to his words. Youâre unsure, too, but you listen quietly. âAnd Remus has told me he believes that suitor is him.âÂ
You flush, looking down toward your lap. Your fingers twist awkwardly together, like you might be able to quell your emotions by twiddling your thumbs. âI did not⌠know you knew each other.â
Your words make Sirius grin, but Remus is the one that speaks next. He reaches out, the tip of his finger catching the underside of your chin to lift it, allowing you to look into his eyes again. âI have been thinking of proposing.â His words, even just yesterday afternoon, wouldâve had you jumping for joy. Now, though, you canât help the unease that traces through you.Â
âWhat has been your hesitation?â You find yourself asking in a timid whisper.Â
âSirius.â He says, which has a look of confusion tracing across your brow.Â
âI do not understand.â You say slowly, looking between the Viscount and the artist. Sirius slowly reaches out a hand to brush over Remusâ arm and they share in another silent conversation that youâre inherently left out of. You can barely stop yourself from letting out a huff. âWhy would you need Siriusâ permission to propose?â
âHe does not need my permission, per seâŚâ Sirius leans forward, letting his hand trace up your arm, softly brushing your hair aside under the guise of looking at your injured shoulder. His touch makes your heart skip a beat, and your breath catches. He smiles. âYou see, love, Remus and I are⌠involved.â
Your world spins again, though this time not physically. âWhat?â The word is punched out of your chest and you find your head shaking back and forth as you look between them. âI do not⌠What do you mean you are involved?â
Sirius rolls his eyes, raising his eyebrows to give you a look. âAre you debutantes so naive that you do not understand what it means when two people are involved?â
You send him a half glare, hating the way you can feel heat rise to your cheeks and ears. âNo, I- I do, but I am not naive enough to think that⌠that two men can have a baby. I know you need a woman for that.â Remus and Sirius both laugh with their full-chest, and you find yourself wanting to sink into the earth and disappear.Â
âDarling,â Sirius wipes at his eye and you shake him off when he tries to brush his hand over your arm again. It doesnât deter him, and he leans closer, his hot breath ghosting over your skin. Your heart pounds in your chest, and you close your eyes tightly. He continues to speak and you can imagine the tip of his nose brushing against your skin, or his tongue. âWe are not doing it to have a baby, we do it because it feels good.â Remus leans closer to your other side, though no part of him is touching you except for his body heat.Â
You curl in on yourself, forcing your eyes open. Theyâre practically leaning over you, your mind a whirlwind and your lungs finding it difficult to take in a full breath. Itâs too much, all of this at once.
You thought you knew Lord Lupin. Shy, timid, lovely Remus who could spend all afternoon curled next to you on a sofa in the library.Â
You thought you knew Sirius. Wild, carefree, absolutely ravishing, and the most talented artist youâve ever seen.Â
And while all of those things are still true, thereâs also⌠this. What if youâd never stumbled upon Sirius during your ride all those weeks ago? What if youâd simply married Lord Lupin without a clue that he had another lover? Would he have told you, or would you have gone your entire life blissfully unaware?
Your breathing speeds up, and Remusâ posture softens, and he leans back a bit as he feels the shift in the room.
âAre you alright?â He asks you, his dark brown eyes full of a care that only serves to make your heart ache.Â
No, you arenât alright. You donât know what to think. It feels as though you are the victim of a cruel prank, one dished out solely by fate. Surely someone somewhere was having a laugh at your misfortune. You donât say any of that, though.Â
Instead, you settle on, âIâd like to go home, please.â
âI do not think youâre ready for the journey quite yet, Miss-â
You cut Remus off, voice a bit harsher this time. âPlease.â
The two men meet in a glance again, the silent conversations that continue to mock you passing between them, though there is no humor in this one.Â
âAlright.â Remus finally says with a nod, and the both of them stand, stepping toward the door. âI will have the carriage arranged.â
âThank you.â You say, giving them a nod that you hope signals that youâd like to be alone until it arrives. They seem to understand, the door closing behind them and leaving you alone in the unfamiliar bedroom.Â
If youâre doing the new girl au out of order I would looove to request Remus and reader having a lil make out during their secret relationship period thinking âokay we have this much time before Sirius gets home and this much time before James gets homeâ but then everyone starts coming home early
Thanks for requesting!

The problem with kissing your flatmate is that it takes over your home life. Thereâs no escaping thoughts of him. Youâll be brushing your teeth, and the smell of him fresh out of the shower will leave you dribbling toothpaste out of the corner of your mouth, or youâll catch yourself staring at his lips while your other flatmates sit between you on the sofa watching a film, or heâll come into the kitchen to tell you that youâre home alone, and youâll wind up boiling over your pasta water because you were too busy shoving your tongue down his throat.Â
Remus reaches over to shut off the hob. âThat can wait until later,â he says, his voice gone raspy in the way that makes your stomach hug your spine, âyeah?âÂ
âI wasnât that hungry anyway,â you agree.Â
He smiles into your mouth, the material of your top bunching in his fingers. An embarrassing, needy sound sighs out of you when Remus presses you into the counter. âSirius decided to join James and Lily at the cinema.âÂ
âJames told me that heââ You canât think properly when he touches you like this. ââthat he wouldnât be back until late.âÂ
âWhich means we have time,â Remus finishes the thought for you. He gets his hands under your thighs, hefting you onto the counter in one strong motion. Blood rushes to your face.Â
The concept of time has never seemed more enticing.Â
âWe donât have to rush,â Remus goes on, kissing you more gently. Your cheek, your chin. âAre you sure you donât want to eat?âÂ
You shake your head quickly. âI can eat later.âÂ
âSure?âÂ
âYeah.â You bump your nose into his, angling for his lips. âRemusâŚâÂ
âAlright,â he soothes. His hand slips beneath your shirt, fingers splaying over your side as though to steady you. âAlright.âÂ
Remusâ touches are slow and sure, but he trembles with each tiny sound from you. It fills you with a blooming pride to think that itâs you making him unsteady. Quiet, composed Remus, undone by a touch of your bare skin. You feel like a teenager, stealing kisses in spare moments and wondering whether you should let a boy take your top off, hoping you wonât get caught.Â
âBed?â Remus rasps after a while. Your legs have tightened around him like a vice, like youâre worried heâs going to slip away. âOr sofa?âÂ
You must look a bit startled, because he puts an inch between you, color rising to his cheeks.Â
âNot soâI donât want to rush anything,â he tells you with an amused, breathy sound. His hand comes up to cover the crown of your head. âI just keep worrying youâre going to knock yourself on the cabinet.âÂ
You laugh and duck down to kiss him. âBed,â you agree.Â
âYours or mine?âÂ
âDefinitely yours.â You hop down from the counter. Remus' hand slips behind you as though to keep you from going far. âMineâs too messy.âÂ
He huffs a laugh. âIâve lived with Sirius and James for years. Iâm used to mess.âÂ
âI know yours is tidy, though,â you tease him.Â
âActually, I think I left a cup on the nightstandâŚâÂ
You laugh again, warm and giddy, curling your fingers in his jumper to tug him towards his bedroom. Remus smiles as he lets you.Â
You make it two steps before the door opens.Â
âWhy would I want to go at eight on a Thursday?â Jamesâ voice echoes down the hall. âWhy would anyone?âÂ
You look at Remus with wide eyes. Heâs frowning in the direction of the front door as though he has a mind to scold your flatmates for coming home early.Â
âBecause,â replies Sirius, sounding sour, ânot everyone feels they have to be tucked into bed at ten.âÂ
âItâs a weeknight, though. Iâm surprised theyâd even show anything that late on a weeknight.âÂ
You walk Remus backwards quickly. His brows cinch as he steps into the pantry, just before you shut the door.Â
âThat late is eight oâclock, James.âÂ
You dash from the kitchen, throwing yourself onto the couch just as your flatmates emerge from the hallway.Â
âSome of us,â Sirius goes on, âwould call that the beginning of the night.âÂ
You pick up the book you left on the coffee table earlier. When Sirius glances over, it looks as though youâve been reading the whole while.Â
âOh, hi.â You blink up at him. âWhat are you doing back?âÂ
James looks sheepish. Sirius heaves a long, dramatic sigh. âJames bought tickets for the wrong night.âÂ
âThey want to start showing a film at eight on a Thursday,â James tells you. âObviously I thought they were for tonight when I saw the time. Isnât that insane?âÂ
âThatâsâŚuh, insane, yeah.âÂ
Sirius narrows his eyes at you. âWhy do you look like that?âÂ
You open your mouth. Shut it again. âLike what?âÂ
âAllâŚâ He waves a hand in your general direction, his mouth screwing up. âRuffled. God, youâre not reading porn on our sofa, are you?âÂ
âWhat?â You sit up, your voice climbing. âNo! Jesus, Sirius, youâreâthis is a romance novel.âÂ
James looks like he might laugh, but Sirius only wrinkles his nose. âYouâre a libertine. At least take it out of the common space. Isnât Remus around here somewhere?âÂ
âI donât know,â you huff, standing from the couch and taking your book with you. âYouâre disgusting. Fine, Iâll read in my room.âÂ
You shut your door, opening your bedroom window spitefully in the hopes the pollen from the tree outside sets off Siriusâ hay fever. Serves him right. You try to open your book and actually read, but you canât focus.Â
Itâs a few minutes later that Remus opens your door quietly.Â
You sit up, nervous. âIâm sorry.âÂ
âMhm,â he says. âWhat was your plan, back in there?âÂ
âI panicked,â you admit. âIt was the first thing I thought of.âÂ
âShoving me into the pantry?â Remus pauses. All you can do is nod abashedly. âWell, James was rather surprised when he went looking for something for supper and found me instead.âÂ
You cover your mouth. âNo.âÂ
âYeah. We left your pasta on the hob, too, by the way.âÂ
âWhat did you tell him about why you were in there?âÂ
âI told him I was thinking.âÂ
âNo.â A giggle spurts out of you. You press your hand harder over your mouth, but they escape between your fingers. âOh my god, did you really?âÂ
âYou think thatâs funny, do you?â Remus asks, grinning as he crawls onto your bed. Your teeth click together when he kisses you. âI didnât know what else to say. Iâm not usually prepared to be discovered in a pantry.âÂ
âI really am sorry,â you say helplessly.
Remusâ eyes roll. He cups your cheek. âI know we spoke about keeping this between us for now, but I donât think we have to go to great lengths to do it.âÂ
âNo, I know.â You lay down, more letting yourself be kissed than kissing, hyper-aware of your flatmates in the other room. âI really just panicked. If it makes you feel any better, Sirius thought I was reading smut in the sitting room.âÂ
Remus chuckles. âI heard that, yeah.â
âWere you laughing at me in the pantry?âÂ
âMaybe a little.â He kisses your jaw, brushing his lips over the shell of your ear. âI wonât be your dirty secret,â he murmurs.
âIâm fairly sure Iâm your dirty secret, if anyone is.â You match his volume. âIf this happens again, Iâll let you shove me out the window so weâre even.âÂ
Remus hums, considering. âNo. Iâm too much of a gentleman for that.âÂ
A/N: Really just missed writing so here is a fluffy little piece with mild swearing, oh and it's also not proof-read.
Sirius has a habit of not noticing what's been in front of him this whole time, but that's okay cause neither have you.
Sirius' heartbeat thumped in his ears, only overpowered by the loud footsteps following his own hurried movements. They all ran with practiced ease, a biproduct of how ritualistic these late night explorations of the castle had become. He and James were already turning a corner as Remus and Peter slipped into the hidden alcove they had scouted a few weeks prior. They had made it into the kitchens without being seen, only to narrowly escape the new groundskeeper Flitch as they were returning to their dorms.
In the meantime, y/n was sitting in the courtyard, sketching constellations in the bright night sky. A small hum had escaped her lips as she turned a page in her notebook, starting anew. It had been a rather long day, the bags under her eyes were starting to be noticeable and if you really looked closely, her hand would twitch slightly every couple of minutes. But sleep was not an option for her at this hour, nor was being locked in her dorm room with people who had a normal sleep schedule, hence the decision of sitting with her back against the stone beam, legs drawn in with a notebook planted between her thighs and chest. The absence of sound was soothing to her.
A perfect little nook hidden away from prying eyes and interruptions.
That is of course until two figures appear around the corner diagonally from where she's facing the open space. Her brows furrowed for just a second until she realized who the figures were.
James Potter and Sirius Black.
Two troublemakers from Gryffindor who had the whole schools' attention on them, both teachers and students alike.. And from the looks of it, now Flitch too. She thought to herself it would be best to avoid any kind of interaction, especially because she might have combusted if the Sirius Black saw her in her pajamas pants. So with her pen used as a bookmark, she slowly started sneaking the opposite way. Sirius on the other hand was starting to break a sweat, apparently, they had underestimated Flitches stamina when it came to chasing students roaming the castle after hours. But with a little bit of luck, him and James finally turned and jumped out the low-set windows in the courtyard, quickly squatting down trying to catch their breaths while still staying hidden. That is the moment where Sirius' eye catches someone in the distance, a graceful figure moving from one side to the other. His eyes followed her all the way to the end of the hall, where she turns and disappears.
"Earth to Sirius, are you even listening to me mate?" His head spins quickly to face James who looked a little confused, glasses halfway down his nose bridge, looking over the black rim. It reminds him of Fleamont when they were younger, he always had the same kind of questioning stare.
Sirius just laughs.
The day after at breakfast Remus is trying his best to help Sirius with his notes for astrology, but to almost no avail. It's starting to give the poor werewolf a headache. "Why did you even choose astrology when you're so shit at it Padfoot?" Peter questions yet not overly interested in the answer as he swirls a spoon around his teacup. "To send me to an early graveâ Remus answer swiftly, closing his book before rubbing his eyes, like he strained them from rolling them too much in annoyance. "I don't know Pete, Iâm named after a bloody star, I kind of thought I could just show up-" He arms himself with a piece of toast and flings it across the table at Remus. "And be like; tadaa, acknowledge me for my literally anything else than my striking good looks please"
James chuckles before he chimes in, "yeah, on the topic of, and I quote âliterally anything else than your striking good looksâ maybe you should actually study? Maybe you need someone to tutor you! Preferably someone you find attractive"
"That offends me greatly Potter" Remus sighs ironically as he grabs his cane, getting ready to leave for his first class.
Since the boys started their sixth year, McGonagal had tried to separate their classes as much as possible to avoid what she called mindless peacocking and improper use of school time It had almost worked as well, Peter had ended up in runes class, James in divination, Remus and Sirius in astrology.
As the two marauders sit down at their usual spot in the astronomy tower, a couple of minutes before the bell rings, someone walks beside Sirius and around to Remus.
Sirius almost drops his quill as he crooks his head to look at her.
"Here you go Rem, this is the book I've been talking about" Remus smiles warmly and accepts the intricate book, starting a little conversation with the girl he remembers from last night. "Oh, thanks y/n! On another note; have you gotten started on next weekâs paper? I could really-" Everything drowns out in Sirius' ears, as he continues his unashamed gaze. He feels like he's searching for something, perhaps a hidden clue as to why her presence in the courtyard made his heart skip a beat. The longer he looks the more she looks like a work of art.
He blinks a couple of times when she looks at him, and his back straightens. From the perspective of any onlooking classmates, he might just appear to be slightly bored, but that couldn't be further from the truth. He doesn't think he's ever studied anything as much in a classroom before. After astronomy class ends, the boys are once again roaming the castle corridors. James has roped them into an impromptu study session in the library, of course right next to Lily's.
While he proceeds to make a fool of himself without even trying, the rest of the marauders are gaining some well-deserved downtime. It isn't often quiet when theyâre together, more like controlled chaos of laughter, yelling and arguments; exactly the way Siriusâ likes it, mostly because it tunes out any real thought popping into his head.
Remus' sweater looks comfortably warm in contrast to his black uniform trousers. Heâs having a most lovely time turning pages and when heâs really concentrating, drumming his fingers on his thigh. Peter is situated firmly in the chair to his left, leaning forward so much there is barely any room between his face and the book on the table.
If James turns around to look at his friends he would be baffled, nevertheless his attention is aimed elsewhere. Sirius is the odd man out, book long discarded, finding a much-needed adrenalin kick from scouting his surroundings.
His eyes glaze over the beautifully delicate wallpaper, the giant bookshelf and other students having a just as boring time, until he spots a familiar face.
Y/n is sitting cramped away in a far corner, quietly drawing in a worn notebook. Another kind of quiet, than the others who occupied the library, it was emanating off her like a quiet intricate patience, a serenity, where his eyes couldn't- wouldn't shift away. The way everything was meticulously existing, every line thought out and executed with such grace. He never thought he would find gracefulness this enchanting, not when his whole upbringing has been based around a forced idealist perfection, instead pushing him into chasing a big loud all-consuming chaos.
This.. This was real, and it was emanating from every atom of her.
âWhatâs the name of the girl you were talking to in class Moony?â Sirius inquires.
Without even looking up Remus responds lazily âY/Nâ
âIâll be back in a second guysâ and just like that he heads for her table, hidden almost out of sight. The sound of his shoes draws her attention to him before heâs all the way there, which prompts her to snap her book shut.
âwoaw, what kind of secrets are you hiding? Can I have a lookâ Sirius smirks, turning up the charm as he sits in the opposite chair, hand already out reaching across the table.
âNothing- Itâs none of your business-â She starts packing her bag, which is definitely not a part of his plan and he starts to panic. â- and anyways, shouldnât you get back to pretend to study?â
For maybe the first time he doesnât have a single idea what he did wrong, but tries to bounce back in form of speed-walking beside her.
âWell, that was actually what I want to talk to you about!â He rushes as some students pass by on his side, making him turn to dodge them. âIâm looking for a tutor and Remus thought you might be a good fit, you know-â He cuts himself off by smacking the side of his leg into a pulled-out chair he didnât calculate for, his face twisting in pain for just a second before playing it off in record time.
It does make Y/n stops walking for a beat, looking into his eyes as she sighs. âLook Sirius, youâre a prodigy at charms and configurations, and Iâm quite sure youâre properly the best dualist in the school, hence why you seem intelligent enough to actually pass if you want to, so do me a favor. Just cut the bullshit and tell me what you wantâ
He wants to answer her, but nothing comes out, so she walks away.
The next time Sirius sees her outside of class is a week later. She's sitting at the dinner table in the great hall surrounded by her friends, chatting away. Her hair is messy, held up by the few odd bobby pins.
His eyes travel down to her hands, where she is holding a fork exactly like she holds her pencil when she draws.
His brows furrow for a moment, he doesn't remember how he knows that.
"Honestly, this is the second time you're ignoring me pads!" James lets out what sounds almost too close to a whimper of frustration. "I think he might be a little pre-occupied" Marlene smirks from beside him, making Remus follow her line of sight that leads them straight to the messy haired girl.
"Oh, who is it?-"
"Is it Natalie? The hot one from Ravenclaw?" James chimes in over Peter, seemingly having discarded his previous emotions of betrayal. Remus shakes his head, replying in a rather exasperated way where the tone of his voice peaks higher than normal.
âYou really have the charm of a Bludger, you know that Prongs?â
âSubtlety is overrated when youâre this charmingâ James shoots back.
The background noise in the dining hall is doing nothing for their own perception of their volume, not that itâs a surprise to their housemates sitting around them, having gotten used to it, yet a new contrast is the absence of acknowledgement from Sirius whoâs still fixed on the girl across the room.
His gaze just a bit too soft.
âMerlinâs beardâ Peter whispers, eyes wide in concern. âIs Sirius Black actually pining?â
That snaps him out of it immediately, as he blinks and straightens up. Something feels off in the grin he then flashes, itâs too practiced, too sharp. âMe? Pining? Girls pine over me Wormtail, and thatâs a factâ If his confidence hadnât faltered for a millisecond he could maybe have sounded convincing, yet he just ends up sounding like heâs trying to convince himself.
Thereâs no counterargument from the friend group but that somehow unnerves him more than anything, forcing him to go into defense mode, shoulders slowly inching upwards before rolling his eyes continuing ââYou lot are delusional- Iâm simply just observing a fellow student who happens to be the only girl whoâs ever rejected meâ
As Remusâ smile gets wider and more knowing, Siriusâ eyes widen in quiet panic as he tries to string a sentence together after whatever that thing was.
âSheâs in our astronomy class, right Moony? Itâs strictly academic, im basically killing two birds with one, erhh.. Broomstick? Oh sod off you know what I meanâ Heâs already halfway across the room making his escape towards the door as Lily, who nobody thought was listening in, yells out loud âThatâs the wrong muggle idiom Sirius!â
Two clicks is all it takes before the lighter comes to life, igniting a flame for Sirius cigarette in the cool night breeze. Itâs already starting to get darker early this time at year.
The courtyard is refreshing in the same fashion as a balcony at a house party, the mixture of nicotine, adrenaline and solitude. Siriusâ coming to the realization he might not be able to outrun his feelings this time around.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out his growing infatuation with the girl who apparently wants to talk to everyone except- "Sirius?"
The voice catches him off guard, making him turn his head to look directly at Y/n, standing next to him seemingly completely unbothered. And for the second time in his life, Sirius might actually be speechless for a couple of heartbeats before his usual wit returns.
"So what brings you to this side of the courtyard love? Itâs a fine evening to get yelled at under the stars" The corners of her mouth turn slightly downwards before getting redirected into a laugh as she just points towards the sky.
For a second Sirius just looks at her face in pure confusion, but as he starts to really look at her and how close she is standing to him, he finally relents and his eyes follow where she is guiding him. From this position the sky looks magnificent, all the colours fading into each other, the stars shining and twinkling. A deep breath fizzles out of him, quiet and reverent, as if the sky itself absorbed all he was in that moment.
The soft hues of violets and gold spill across her face, painting her in an intimate light. Normally he wouldnât have been this much in awe, not when he has seen a hundred sunsets from every possible angle or place at Hogwarts in the last six years, but none of them ever had her standing beneath them.
âIâm sorry by the way, for being unjustly cross with you last weekâ Y/n starts. âItâs just that when you came over to me I-â she pulls her notebook out of her jacket pocket and hands it to him. He looks at her quizzically before getting a nod of approval to open it.
âYou know, I do kinda still owe you an answer from when you asked about my journalâ She clarifies. â⌠I usually come out here to draw a new constellation or mostly just stare at the brightest star I can find-â
Her lips part before looking him in the eyes. His hand stops turning the pages, signaling to her he has found the sketched portrait of himself.

This is my first time requesting so I hope this is right :)
I have this idea for the Marauders New Girl au where James and Remus walk into the flat to what sound like sex noises from reader and Sirius somewhere in the flat. Something along the lines of 'oh yeah, that's it' 'yeah! right there' ect. Remus is just fuming and James is just so flustered. Remus without thinking storms into wherever they are just to find them doing the most mondane thing like putting up art, decorating, moving furniture, etc. (bonus if they're not even close to eachother) and reader and Sirius don't even realize what they sound like and are soo confused by Remus (And James) storming into the room. :) I just think it would be so funny/lovely to see Remus try and back peddle what just happened. Remus jealous? noo of course not, what are you talking about. James would find the whole thing soo funny and I feel like Sirius would be the only one to clue into Remus' jealousy and Remus knows he knows. maybe even reader is concerned that she's doing something wrong because she doesn't understand what's going on and Remus feels so awful with himself. :) I hope you like this idea! put any spin on it that you find necessary! I absolutly love your work and can't wait to see what you do with this concept!!
I hope you are having a lovely day!! xx
Thanks for your request gorgeous !

Remus doesnât hear James arrive home. He has the volume in his earbuds up as loud as it will go, and then without warning Jamesâ hand is waving wildly in front of his face.Â
Remus pauses his music. âYes?âÂ
James is plainly distressed, his mouth agape and eyes almost comically wide behind his glasses. He looks at Remus like heâs grown a second head. âAre youââ He winces as a cry comes from across the hall (oh yeah, right there). ââhearing this?âÂ
âIâm trying not to,â Remus growls.Â
The shouts Remus has been hearing since he came home from work are undeniably yours. Theyâre enthusiastic, a bit bossy, and frequently interspersed with the squeal of bedsprings or the thud of furniture butting against the wall. Remus has been doing his best to drown it all out.Â
Quite honestly, heâs surprised by you. Perhaps even a bit betrayed. It wasnât until now that Remus realized heâd assumedâwrongly, obviouslyâthat you would be more discreet about anyone you brought home than your other flatmates. James does you all the courtesy of attempting to schedule his trysts when no one is home, and Sirius at least occasionally remembers to muffle himself with a pillow. Remus thought youâd be better than Sirius, if nothing else. Learning he was wrong has left a rather undesirable taste in his mouth.Â
âDonât you think we ought to say something?â James asks.Â
Remus grunts, pretending to look for a song on his phone. âItâs her business.â Were someone or another to make a comment about noise levels later, though, Remus wouldnât stand in their way. âIf sheâs met someone she fancies, it doesnât seem like our place to do anything about it.âÂ
âMet?â James looks at him like heâs speaking gibberish. âShe and Sirius have known each other for months! How long do you reckon this has been going on?âÂ
Remus nearly drops his phone. âSirius?âÂ
âYeah, mate.â James gestures towards the hall. As if on cue, another voice asks, âYeah, there? You like that?âÂ
Undeniably Siriusâ.Â
âFuck me,â Remus breathes.
James waves emphatically. âThatâs what Iâm saying! This is flatcest! We canâtâit canât go on.âÂ
âYeah, thatâs perfect,â you say from across the hall. James makes a face that looks precisely how Remus feels.Â
âWeâve got to put a stop to it,â James whispers, haunted.Â
Remus, still reeling and now also trying not to imagine castrating his best mate, gestures to the hallway. âGo on, then. Put a stop to it.âÂ
James takes a breath. âYouâre behind me?âÂ
âIâm behind you.âÂ
Remus isnât expecting James means behind him literally, as he marches across the hall like a soldier into battle and throws open your bedroom doorâRemus might have given you and Sirius at least a moment to put on clothesâbut he holds to his word, following behind James into the den of iniquity.Â
The clothes, it turns out, are not an issue.Â
Because you and Sirius are both fully dressed.Â
âPerfect, perfect,â youâre saying, standing on one end of the room while Sirius pushes your bed into the center. âCan you tryâa little to the left?âÂ
He gives the bed a shove. âRight there?âÂ
âRight there,â you confirm. You turn to Remus and James. âHey, how long have you guys been home?âÂ
âUhâŚâ James sputters out a laugh, still looking a bit lost. âJust got here.âÂ
âBeen in my room,â Remus mumbles.Â
âWell, we couldâve used your help, butâ âYou shrug, sending Remus an easy smile. He feels disconnected from his body.â âI think we did a half decent job anyways. Letâs see.â You hop up onto your bed, crawling to the top of the mattress.Â
The springs squeal. Remus prays his eye hasnât just twitched.Â
âAhh, yeah,â you say, leaning back on your pillow. âThis is perfect. I can still see the tree from here, but itâs not too cramped with my new desk. Thanks, Sirius.âÂ
âAnytime,â Sirius replies.Â
James lets out a high-pitched laugh.Â
Sirius a glare on him. âAlright, listen, I can be helpful when I feel likeââ
âNo, itâs not that.â Giggles are bubbling out of James like a fizzy drink now, his eyes nothing short of mirthful. âItâs just, we thought you two were shagging.âÂ
Your mouth drops open, but itâs Sirius who practically shouts, âI beg your pardon?âÂ
âIt was the sounds,â Remus says distantly.Â
âTheâŚâ You look bewildered, bordering on horrified. âThe sounds?âÂ
âYeah, you know.â James makes a face. âThatâs it, right there, aw yeah, you like that?âÂ
Your hands come up to cover your mouth as James speaks, but now Sirius is laughing, too.Â
âFucking hell,â he says, âdo you think you could take a moment before assuming the worst of us? I mean, flatcest!âÂ
âThatâs what I was saying!â James agrees. âThe most heinous of flat offences.âÂ
Siriusâ gaze slides to Remus. Thereâs something sneaky about it, something in his face that Remus doesnât like. âYou alright?â Sirius asks. âYouâre looking rather pale there.âÂ
âWell, weâve had quite a shock!â James laughs.Â
âSirius,â you say, very diplomatically, âI hope you know that while I love you, shagging is off the table.âÂ
Sirius shoots you a lazy grin. âOh, come on, babe. Itâs never wholly off the table.âÂ
âIt is, actually.âÂ
âPlease. Youâre just lucky I like to leave the flat to find my dalliances.âÂ
Okay i just had this idea for sirius x potter!reader,
In sixth year thereâs a ball and they both are going solo refusing to have any dates to the ball.
Both have a massive crush on each other since forever and siri is madly in love lol but he is afraid to confess because of james. James is against any twin sister x best friend relationship.
One friend suggests that they go to the ball as friends and then it ends in sirius confessing his feelings.
James sees them kissing and go bonkers lol
Hi! â¤ď¸ We love two idiots in love with a James standing between them. Fantastic, I love it, I will write it every time. â¤ď¸ Also, you can pry winter dances out of my cold, dead hands. AKA if anyone wants a spring dance, you have to specify it lol â¤ď¸
Hope y'all enjoy â¤ď¸ â¤ď¸ â¤ď¸

A boy named William walked away from you and Marlene as you sat in a courtyard after classes. He had just asked you to the winter ball. You turned him down as politely as you could, explaining that you were going with Marlene. It was going to be a girlsâ night.Â
âThatâs what? The fourth boy youâve turned down?â Marlene asked playfully. âYou know you can go with a date.â
You shook your head. âFIfth. Michael⌠something, from Ravenclaw, asked me this morning. And I told you, Iâm going with you. Dates are stupid.â
Correction: dates that who you actually want to go with are stupid. Neither you nor Marlene were able to go with the person you actually wanted to go with, so you told Marlene that you would go together. She told you not to worry about her, but you insisted. Really, you didnât want to go with anyone who wasnât Sirius, your twin brotherâs best friend. Youâd been in love with him for what felt like ages. If you were going to go to this dance with a boy, itâd be him, and since you knew he would never ask you, you had no problem going with Marlene. She couldnât muster up the courage to ask Dorcas, the girl sheâd been trying to flirt with for months.Â
Sirius wasnât planning on asking anyone. His excuse that he told anyone who asked was so that he could dance with whomever he pleased, but that wasnât the truth. There was one girl he wanted to ask, but she told every single one of her friends that she wasnât going with a date.
Plus, there was the issue of you being Jamesâ sister. Peter made some off-hand comment about you being pretty during third that led to a rant from James, threatening to hex any one of them who dared look at you as anything other than a sister. While Sirius risked being hexed at least once a day, he wasnât stupid enough to ask you out. James might actually murder him if he did.Â
So he watched William walk away from you dejectedly. At least he wouldnât have to watch you on some other blokeâs arm and he could maybe have one dance with you. That would be enough to fill his fantasies for years. You were so close yet so far away.Â
âYouâd think it wouldâve gotten around that sheâs not going with a date,â Remus said carelessly. âIâve had a handful of people ask me if I could set them up.â
âAnyone I need to be concerned about?â James asked. He didnât look up from quidditch plays he was attempting to memorize.Â
Remus rolled his eyes and gave Peter and Sirius a look that said âTechnically yes, but Iâm going to lie.âÂ
âNo one, Prongs.âÂ
Remus knew you could handle yourself; heâd seen you turn away multiple boys now and that wasnât counting just the dance. Youâd gone on the occasional date over the past two years and from what they were aware of, you were always the one to nip things in the bud. What the boys werenât aware of was you were trying to see if someone could successfully distract from Sirius and none of them could. You were hasty with ending things? Sometimes yes, but you didnât want anything to go too far.Â
âBoys, you coming to Hogsmeade?â Mary called across the courtyard.Â
The boys exchanged confused looks. It was the middle of the week and they didnât really have a need to leave the school grounds.Â
âWhyâre you going?â James asked after a few seconds.Â
âOur dresses need to be picked up,â she said. âGot to leave soon if weâre getting back before dinner.â
âRight. Iâm alright. Lads?âÂ
âI think youâre on your own, ladies,â Peter said.Â
âSirius? Remus?â you asked, adjusting your bag on your shoulder and looking from boy to boy.Â
Sirius wouldâve gone with you. He wanted to know what your dress looked like. He knew youâd be stunning in whatever you chose, both because you are gorgeous and have excellent taste. But because of James he couldnât be the only one to go, even if other girls were going to be around. Sirius looked to Remus, who stretched with several pops coming from his joints.Â
âI think Iâm going to collapse in bed until food. See you at dinner,â he said, holding his hands up so someone could pull him up.Â
You turned and pointed in the general direction of Hogsmeade. âOff we go!âÂ
---
Monday evening, Marlene showed up to dinner with the biggest, and dumbest, grin on her face.Â
âIâve got great news and bad news,â she said as she sat down next to you.Â
âBad news first please," you said.Â
âYouâre going to the dance by yourself.â
âI thought we-â you started to say.
âIâm going with Dorcas.â
Your fork clattered on the table. You stared at her for a moment before pulling Marlene in to a hug.
âYou asked her?âÂ
âSort of?â You raised your eyebrows, silently urging her to explain. âOkay, so we were talking after Muggle Studies, right, and she asks if Iâm going to the dance, which I am, duh, and then sheâs like âare you going with anyone,â so I told her that Iâm with Potter and I swear her face falls. She says that it makes sense, that Iâd go with one of my teammates, so obviously I have to correct her, that Iâm going with you and making it a girlsâ night. And, I donât know how to explain it, but I felt like she got hopeful or something?â
âGo on,â you said with a sly smile.
âSo I asked her if she was going with anyone and she says the person she wants to ask her hasnât yet. I donât know what took over my body. I just kinda of spit it out. And do you KNOW what she said?âÂ
âWhat?â you asked, despite knowing she said yes.Â
âShe said she thought Iâd never ask!â Marlene threw her head back with a relief-filled laugh. âShe said she was wondering when I was going to ask her out, like sheâs been waiting for weeks. Weeks, Potter! Said she thought her New Yearâs resolution was going to have to be to ask me out herself.âÂ
You laughed and nudged Marleneâs side.
âIâm happy for you. Now youâll stop being lovesick in the dorm, yeah?â
âI have not been lovesick.â
âYeah, you have,â Lily said, joining the conversation. âSheâs just so pretty and smart and funny. Did you see her braids? Oh my Merlin, what Iâd do to be in between her thighs!âÂ
You and Mary burst into laughter while Marlene turned brighted red.Â
âShut up, shut up, shut up,â Marlene hissed, attempting to lunge over the table to strangle Lily.
You pulled her back down by her shirt.Â
âThen keep your wet dreams to yourself,â you laughed, earning yourself a whack from her. âWorth it,â you added.Â
It doesnât hit you until midday Tuesday that youâre the only girl in the group without a date now. Mary and Remus were going together. Lily was going with a Ravenclaw, much to Jamesâ disappointment. And now Marlene had Dorcas. You really didnât want to be the only girl in the group going solo. You already have the dress, but surely thereâll be another event you could wear it to. Sometimes your parents got invited to extravagant Christmas balls and now that you were older, maybe youâd get to go along.Â
You sighed and decided to think on it a little more, but there was a good chance youâd just skip the dance. When you had Marlene to go with, you thought you could use her as a distraction whenever Sirius danced with some other girl, with a different girl every song. Youâre not sure if you can stand an entire night of Sirius flirting and dancing with girl after girl that isnât you. Just the thought made you feel a little queasy.Â
By the end of the day, youâd decided youâd sit out on the dance, and you told your dormmates as much. They were a bit surprised. You did already have the dress and Lily was certain there were still boys who didnât have dates and would love to have you as theirs. You shook your head and gave them a polite smile.
âIâm not going to start going around asking if people have dates yet. No offense,â you said looking at Marlene, âbut itâs sad when people wait until the week before. We are literal days away from the dance. Itâll be so sad. Especially when Iâve turned blokes down.â
Your planning on not going to the dance didnât come up around the boys until a free period on Thursday.Â
âEvans, make sure we get a picture of the twins, yeah? Mumâll kill me if we donât get evidence of them both dressing up,â Sirius said as a portion of the group sat together discussing the dance.Â
Mary snorted a laugh. âToo bad they wonât both be dressed up.â
âWhatâd you mean?âÂ
âSheâs not going anymore.â
âWhat do you mean sheâs not going?â Peter asked. âEveryoneâs going.â
âShe was going with me, right? And then I asked Dorcas, which trust me, I really wasnât planning on doing, especially so last minute. I didnât think sheâd even-â Marlene started to explain.Â
âSo sheâs just not going?â Peter asked.Â
âShe doesnât have a date so she said sheâs not going to go. Doesnât want to be the only girl without a date. And like you said, everyoneâs going,â Mary said.Â
Peter looked at Sirius. âYou have a date. You could take her.â
âAnd give up his freedom?â Lily gasped mockingly.Â
âHey!â Sirius said to Marlene before turning to Peter. âLetâs be honest, Iâm not the one who needs convincing. Iâll take her if it gets her there, but JamesâŚâ
James was the issue and Sirius didnât need convincing. He played it off as being a good friend making sure you didnât miss out on anything.Â
âDonât worry about him,â Peter said, waving his hand dismissively. âYouâd be going as friends and you said Mrs. Potter wants a picture of them dressed up. No picture if sheâs not dressed up.â
Sirius bobbed his head like he was mentally debating what Peter was saying. Then he looked back at the girls.Â
âThink sheâd say yes?â
âAs long as you donât make it sound like a pity date,â Marlene said.Â
Mary nodded. âTell her youâre both going alone so why not go together. Sheâd probably be okay with that.â
Lily eyed Sirius curiously as the conversation shifted back to pictures and then to various other plans for before and after the dance and then for over break. Sirius never doubted if a girl would say yes to him before. He always assumed they would. And if for some reason they did say no, Sirius bounced back. Yet, when you were thrown into the mix, he suddenly seemed to care a lot more. Lily didnât say anything, but she was intrigued.Â
Sirius found you after lessons were over for the day. You were standing with Lily outside the Arithmancy classroom, debating something that had to do with the class.
âEvans, mind if I borrow Potter here for a minute?â he asked.
She smiled with a knowing glint in her eyes. âThis isnât over,â Lily said to you. âIâm still convinced you're wrong.â
Then she walked away, leaving you alone with Sirius. You tilted your head as you looked at him.Â
âWhatâs up?â
âYouâre going to the ball,â he said, feeling his easy confidence fading into nerves.
You rolled your eyes and started walking; Sirius went with you.
âAm I now?â
âYeah. With me.â
That got your heart rate going. You kept your gaze straight, partly out of fear of tripping and partly not wanting to show Sirius how that simple statement affected you.
âI am?â
âI mean, weâre the only two in our group without dates,â he said, adding a shrug to help keep it casual. He tried to not let your lack of enthusiasm hurt his ego.Â
âI thought you didnât want a date. Something about dancing with whoever you want.â
It took more self control than Sirius would like to admit to keep himself from saying âI only want to dance with you.â He couldnât say that, not when he still has to deal with James later when he finds out that Sirius just asked you to the dance.Â
âMum may also murder me if we donât get a picture of you and James dressed upâŚâ
âThere it is,â you said, finally looking at Sirius.Â
âListen, you already got the dress, you got a group, we made plans. Donât let Marlene getting a date keep you from having a great night. Weâll walk in together and Iâll dance with you-â Sirius paused for a second, unsure if he should have said that. He was completely unaware of how that made your heart skip a beat. â-if you want, that is. It wonât be the same without you and you know none of us would have a good time if we knew you were just up in your dorm instead of being with us.âÂ
You sighed heavily, pretending that Sirius asking you to the dance and saying it wouldnât be the same without you didnât make you want to grin until your face hurt.Â
âFine.â Then you nudged his side with a mischievous grin appearing on your face. âOnly because itâd probably be good if Mum didnât murder you over a picture.â
He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. He had done it, gotten you to agree to going to the dance. With him. Maybe no one would tell James and he could find out at the dance, or maybe not even find out at all depending how many date-like things they needed to do. Sirius would like to do more couple-y things with you, but alas.Â
âSo, whatâd Sirius want?â Lily asked when the two of you entered the common room and you went toward her while Sirius headed up to his dorm.Â
âI feel like you already know.â
âYouâre coming to the dance! Perfect. Now, there is no way that your sequence works. It just doesnât!â
She pulled you down to sit next to her and her Arithmancy work. She wasnât kidding when she said that your discussion wasnât over. She needed to be right, or you had to prove and explain why she was wrong.Â
That night as you laid in bed, you realized how frustratingly stupid it was to agree to going with Sirius. The shrug obviously meant that he was asking you as a friend. He was simply making sure that you went to the dance. You wanted to laugh at the situation. You were so close to getting what you wanted that it hurt. You were so close that it felt like your dream was light years away. Sirius was actually your date to the dance, but only as friends. It was a real kicker. Youâd walk in together. Youâd talk, like you wouldnât have done that anyways if you had a different date. Sirius would probably be near you while you danced, but it wasnât like your group was huge. If you were lucky, Sirius would keep his word and youâd get a slow dance with him, although it would be with more than enough room for Merlin in between you with no soft conversation and avoiding eye contact at all costs. You knew your face would burn if you looked at him.Â
But at least you were going to the dance. Right?Â
Up the other staircase, Sirius was feeling the same way. He was able to have you as his date without dying by Jamesâ hand, but it wasnât how he wanted. He could compliment you when he first saw you, but itâd be too much if he sprinkled them into conversations as the night went on. He could hold your arm, but not your hand or your waist. He wouldnât be able to hold you as close as heâd like. Youâd be all dolled up and looking divine and he wouldnât be able to kiss you.
Friday was the longest day. It was for everyone. Students were too excited for the dance and break; the professors had no chance at holding their attention despite their best efforts. You were making sure that you had presents for every one of your friends. Youâd be meeting up with everyone over break for a little gift exchange, and you were certain that James hadnât gotten anyone a gift yet. He was discussing pranks ideas for next term with the boys. The girls were trying to figure out if theyâd be able to smuggle a baby hippogriff into the castle since Dorcas might know where to find one.Â
âIt wonât be staying in our dorm!â Mary insisted. âThere is literally no space for it. And the amount of food weâd need to bring up all those stairs? No. Weâll find it a home closer to the ground floor.âÂ
It was a miracle that by Saturday morning, James still hadnât gotten wind of Sirius being your technical date to the dance. That was a plus for Sirius. Except the as friends was on repeat in his head as he got ready with the boys. Friends, as he redid his tie for the third time and adjusted his cufflinks. Friends, as he made sure his hair wasnât frizzy, using a gift of hair-sleeking potion from Jamesâ dad. The rest of the boys were also making sure that they looked good, but more for vanity than to impress their dates. Remus and Mary were going together, Peter and Emmeline, James and a Hufflepuff.Â
Friends was also on your mind as you slipped into your dress and had Lily zip you up. Friends, as you did your makeup, ensuring that nothing was smudged, nor would it. Friends, as you did your hair, double checking that no strand was out of place. It was more effort than you usually put into your appearance, but it was a dance. All the girls in your dorm were putting just as much effort in.
âItâs not⌠too much?â Marlene asked, turning around to look at her back in the mirror.Â
âYou look amazing and you know Dorcas will think so,â Mary said.Â
âBut itâs not too much?â
âWhen has being too much bothered you before?â Lily shot from across the room where you were doing her hair.Â
You looked over your shoulder and smiled. âMarls, itâs not too much. Donât worry. But can you grab that spray for me?â You pointed to a can on your bed.Â
When everyone was ready, you met the boys in the common room. They were waiting for you.Â
âTook yous long enough,â James drawled as you appeared.Â
âOh, fuck off,â you said.Â
Sirius inhaled sharply. You looked amazing, not that he was expecting any less. He fully knew that you would look immaculate â he just wasnât prepared to actually see you like that. Peter raised his eyebrows and nudged his side. Sirius needed a second to recompose himself.Â
Remus and Peter grabbed Jamesâ arms and pulled him in the direction of the portrait hole as Sirius walked over to you. The girls also followed them out.Â
âH-hi,â he said.Â
Your stomach flipped as you took in the sight of him cleaned up. Sirius looked gorgeous on a regular basis, so he looked like a god now. This look suited him so, so well.Â
âHi,â you said, voice light.Â
Friends repeated in both of your friends.Â
Then he offered you his arm. âThe fairer twin, if I do say so myself.âÂ
âThatâs me every day, Black,â you said, smiling despite yourself.Â
âI know,â he said with a wink.
Maybe he could do banter. That was easy. It was in his nature after all. So maybe tonight wouldnât be so hard. Maybe if James stood out of earshot? And out of eye sight? Or he could just leave the dance completely. Yes, that would do.Â
Remus and Mary were waiting for you just outside the common room. It appeared like everyone else had gone to meet their dates.Â
âJames said he was already late to meeting Isabelle. And just you missed the rest of them,â Remus said.Â
âWe were barely behind you!â you said.
âWell, James bolted and the rest followed,â Mary said with a shrug. âSo, shall we go?âÂ
You nodded and the four of you headed down to the Great Hall. It didnât take long for James and Isabelle to find you once you were there. James stared at you holding onto Siriusâ arm, but he didnât say anything, only narrowing his eyes at Sirius. Everyone was mingling. They were sipping on drinks and eating small snacks that were spread throughout the available tables.Â
James followed Isabelle to her Hufflepuff friends. Lily dragged her date over to your group, along with Peter and Emmeline. You had let go of Siriusâ arm at some point and you hated that you had the urge to grab it again. The two of you stuck together as the dance started picking up. When the first slow song played, you and Sirius looked at each other awkwardly.Â
âDâyou want something to drink?â he asked. He was kicking himself for not having the courage to slow dance with you yet.
âUm, yeah. Yeah. Thatâd be nice,â you said, each word sounding staccato.Â
You stood off to the side as he went to the drink table. You were only alone for maybe a minute, but it was long enough to have you worrying that Sirius didnât want to dance with you. He was probably thinking of ways to ditch you and find some other girl to dance with. He only asked you so youâd come to the dance rather than sitting in your room alone.Â
âHere you go,â Sirius said, holding out a cup for you. âErm, would you want, to, you know, dance? With me, for the next slow song?âÂ
Your heart sped up. âWould you mind if we did?â
âIâd like that.â
You both lifted your cups to take a drink and then looked out at the dance floor. All of your friends were out there.Â
You felt a wave of relief as it settled in you that Sirius did want to dance with you, or at least he wasnât against it. Maybe he actually was quite thirsty? Or he wasnât sure if youâd want to and wanted to give you an easy out if you didnât want to? But he couldâve offered before he asked about drinks. Or he couldâve turned to someone and asked them.Â
Sirius said your name, bringing you out of your thoughts. The slow song was still playing, couples swaying to the guitar.Â
âCan I say something?â he asked.
âSince when did you need permission to speak?âÂ
He huffed a laugh and looked down at his hand as he reached for yours.
âItâs more for what I want to sayâŚâ
You also looked down at your hands, his fingers brushing against yours.Â
âI guess itâs more of a question, but would you have said yes if I asked you to the dance?â
You raised your eyes to meet his, but Sirius was still staring at your hands.Â
âIâm here now?â
âNo, I mean, if I had asked. Actually asked. With flowers and before Marlene asked Dorcas?â
âWith flowers?âÂ
âWould flowers be too much? Not enough?âÂ
âI wouldnât say no to flowers.â
âWould you say no to me?âÂ
âI wouldnât say no.â
Sirius stopped looking at your hands.Â
âYou wouldnât?âÂ
âSirius-â you started to say before he cut you off.
âBecause I wanted to ask you, but you said you werenât going with anyone and letâs be honest, I donât think anyone actually told James that weâre technically here together, which is probably for the best since heâs a bit dramatic and protective.â Sirius felt his face grow warm but he couldnât stop himself from speaking. âBut even if you hadnât said you werenât going with anyone, I still didnât know if youâd even want to go with me. Merlin, I wanted to go with you. Because, because I really like you. I like you as more than Jamesâ sister. I like you as more than a friend. More than a best friend. And, you really do look amazing right now. And you do, always. But damn, Iâm glad you came tonight because that dress.â
âSirius,â you said firmly as you took hold of his hand.
He stopped talking, face now bright red. Now that he had stopped talking, he could see that your cheeks were also pink.Â
âI wasnât going to go with anyone because I thought there was no chance that youâd ask me.â You smiled at him. âAnd thatâs, uh, actually why I wasnât going to come. I didnât want to be standing off to the side alone while you danced with someone else.â
âYouâre the only one I want to dance with.â
The two of you stood there staring at each other for a few seconds before you realized that the slow song had ended. Most of the students stayed on the dance floor, adjusting their dancing to the upbeat song that was now playing. A handful broke off to take a break. You briefly glanced at where your friends had all congregated.Â
âCome with me,â you said as you pulled Sirius out of the closest door.Â
âWhatâre we-â he started to ask but stopped mid-thought.
You had pulled him off to the side with your back pressed against the wall. You dropped his hand, but not before ensuring that his body was right in front of yours.Â
âPotter?â he asked tentatively.Â
âBlack.âÂ
He could hear the smirk in your voice.Â
âWhyâre we out here?â he asked.Â
âI think you know.â
âI mean, Iâd like to think I know.â
âYeah? Then why donât you?â
âJust wanted to be sure,â he said, his voice dropping low.Â
Then he leaned in slowly. You grabbed his shirt collar and pulled him in closer before your lips even met. It started slow and tentative, both of you relishing in what you thought would only ever be dreams. His hands quickly found your waist. He held you against his body as his lips moved against yours. One of your hands remained on his chest while the other moved to his hair â you had no intention of letting him move away from you in this moment. Everything about him was clouding your mind. It was a beautiful feeling. You and Sirius seemed to move and think in sync. The intensity grew at a steady pace, yet Sirius remained respectful of your body.Â
You were so lost in each other that you didnât register the brief wave of loud music that was cut off by a closing door. You didnât register the disgusted gasp and murmurs.
âWhat the actual fuck, Padfoot!â James yelled as he pulled Sirius back by his shoulder.Â
It did not help your case that both of you were breathing heavily.Â
âJames-â
âNo,â he snapped at you before pushing Sirius away from you with both hands. âAre you actually mental?â
You realized that James was probably the biggest reason why Sirius didnât ask you to the dance. Although, you also had a feeling that this was really about him coming out to see you and Sirius all over each other.
âJames-â you tried again.
âWhat did he do to you?âÂ
âNothing!âÂ
âYour lipstick says otherwise,â Mary said from the doorway James came through. Remus was right behind her.Â
âNot helping!â you called to her, making her and Remus turn away laughing.Â
âIâm going to murder you!â James said, rounding on Sirius again.Â
You grabbed your brotherâs shoulder in an attempt to hold him back.
âJames! Stop!â
âBut he-â
âI asked him to.â
James froze. He looked at you with wide eyes. He had never considered that you might actually like one of his idiot friends.Â
âY-you⌠you did what?âÂ
âI brought him out here. It was me.âÂ
âI wouldnâtâve unless-â
âShut up, Padfoot,â James snapped, briefly glaring at his friend before looking back at you. âYouâŚâ He swallowed thickly in disbelief. âAnd him? Him? Of all people?â
You nodded.Â
âAre you sure?âÂ
You wanted to laugh. âYes, James, Iâm sure. Itâs-â You clicked your tongue. â-itâs been him for a while.â
âWait, youâve been-?â
âNo! No, we havenât-â Sirius interrupted before you interrupted him.
âI fancy him and we just established that he fancies me. And when two people fancy each other⌠Well, you interrupted it.âÂ
James pointed a finger at Sirius. âIf I hear any amount of funny business or disrespect toward her, I will personally end you.â
âHow about you go back into the dance, yeah?â you asked, forcibly turning James around and pushing him toward Mary and Remus, who were both still laughing. âWeâll be in in a little bit. He still owes me a slow dance.â
Remus and Mary helped bring James back into the Great Hall. You did get a slow dance later in the night, after reapplying your lipstick and straightening Siriusâ tie. It didnât occur to either of you until you both retired to your own dorms that you didnât get a picture with James. Oh well, you think you got something better out of the night.Â

Itâs not unusual for Remus to be quiet. He gets into his moods, and heâs been in one all evening, so perhaps thatâs why it takes James a while to notice. Everyone else is having a great timeâLilyâs showing Dorcas photos of her new cat, Em and Mary are venting about the new stuck-up at their work, and Sirius and Marlene are engaged in their favorite pastime, a near violent debate about some bandâbut when James checks in on Remus he finds his friend scowling across the pub.Â
âAlright?â James gives Remusâ ankle a friendly tap under the table.Â
Remus makes a noncommittal grunting noise. âSirius,â he says.Â
Sirius is too engaged with Marlene to have his attention pulled, but James is wise enough to bump his elbow before Remus has to call him a second time. Sirius looks over.Â
âIsnât that your friend?â Remus asks, nodding behind James and Sirius.Â
They both turn. James spots who Remus means immediately. The guy does have a familiar sort of look, like someone James has perhaps met once or twice.Â
âYeahâŚâ Siriusâ tone is a furrowed brow. âThatâs Louis. Whatâs he doing here?âÂ
âWhat,â James jokes, âis he not allowed in here?âÂ
âHeâs supposed to be on a date with y/n,â says Remus.Â
âOh.â James blinks at him. Remusâ gaze hasnât moved from the other man. âThatâs him? That Louis?â
âSo wait, where is she?â Marlene asks.Â
âGood question.â Sirius pushes back his chair. âLetâs find out.âÂ
James stands with him automatically, Remus close behind. Your should-be date is too busy schmoozing some girl James hasnât seen before to notice them until theyâre standing above his table, but when he does the smirk dissolves off his face.Â
They find you on a bench beside the hostâs stand of the restaurant where you should have been seated an hour ago. You look really nice. James doesnât claim to be particularly knowledgeable about these things, to notice when girls get their hair cut or to know the difference between lip balm and lip gloss (though you and Sirius have both tried to explain this to him), but itâs obvious youâve put in extra effort tonight. Jamesâ heart aches for you.Â
Unlike your date, you look up as soon as the boys come in. Itâs a practiced glance, like your gaze has been going to the restaurantâs door all night, but you do a double-take when you register whoâs come in.Â
âHey.â James musters a smile for you. âCome here often?âÂ
Your returning smile is tentative, bemused. âWhat are you guys doing here?âÂ
Jamesâ tongue feels stuck with cement, but Sirius doesnât beat around the bush. âWe saw Louis.âÂ
You straighten. âYou did?â Thereâs a heartbreaking mix of worry and wariness in your look. âIs everything okay?âÂ
Sirius looks about how James feels, his eyebrows hooked and mouth puckered distressedly as he steps forward. âIâm sorry,â he says, and bends to hug you. âI wouldnât have set you up if Iâd known heâd turn out to be such a prick.âÂ
Itâs hard for Sirius to be sincere, especially during emotional moments. That heâs trying to be for you makes James even more upset. Your confusion doesnât help. âWhat?â you ask.Â
âHeâs not coming,â Remus tells you gently.Â
You wilt as Sirius pulls away. Itâs clear you already suspected. âOh.âÂ
âHeâs an idiot,â Sirius says firmly. âYou can do scores better than him and he knows it.â
You make a soft sound of acknowledgement, looking to the side as your eyes begin to shine faintly. Sirius glances nervously at James. Even the hostess, who has been politely pretending not to overhear your conversation, is beginning to look uncomfortable.Â
Remus steps past James to move closer to you. He says your name, quietly, and when you donât look up bends to catch your eye.Â
âItâs fine,â you mumble.Â
âItâs not fine,â he says, not arguing, just stating. âYou would never stand someone up, and you deserve better than anyone who would even think of it.âÂ
âI donât mean to be pathetic about itââÂ
âYouâre not.â Remusâ forehead wrinkles with upset. âYouâre not, lovely, why would you say that? If anything heâs being pathetic, acting rude to a pretty girl to make himself feel like heâs above the whole thing. Heâs not, I promise. You always deserved better.âÂ
The next breath that leaves you seems to tremble in the air.Â
âAre you hungry?â James asks. âI feel like you canât come to a place like this without at least trying the chocolate cake, but we can go somewhere greasier if you like.âÂ
You blink. Itâs like something clicks for you, a different hue coloring your expression as you look between your three flatmates. âYou came here to get me?âÂ
âYou think weâd just leave you be?â asks Remus, still in that private, whispery tone.Â
Your arms are around him less than a moment later.Â
Remus straightens in surprise, but you hold on fiercely. âThanks,â you say, croaky, nearly on your toes so that your face is pressed to Remusâ neck.Â
âOh, come,â he murmurs back, though his hands move to hold you in return. One cupping the back of your head, the other rubbing gently up and down on your back. âYouâre alright, love.âÂ
James makes the executive decision that grease is indeed needed and leads you all from the restaurant. Remus keeps you close to his side, letting you wipe your tears on the sleeve of his sweater intermittently.Â
âI donât get why youâre crying about this,â Sirius comments. âAll James did was offer you food.âÂ
âItâs justââ You sniff. âItâs really nice of you guys to come and tell me. You could have just waited for me to come home.â
âWe couldnât do that.â James looks at you, offended. âWeâre not monsters.âÂ
You give a wet little laugh. âIs my makeup awful?â you ask.
Itâs obviously a question for Sirius, who turns to inspect you. âMm, no,â he hums, thumbing away an inky line going down your cheek, âweâll call it punk rock. Also, if you like that, you should be happy to know that James socked the prick.âÂ
You stop crying to gawp. âDid you really?âÂ
James shrugs, grinning sheepishly.Â
âYup,â Sirius confirms proudly. âLouisâ nose will never be the same.âÂ
âNot that it was ever anything grand,â mutters Remus.Â
âJamie.â Youâre shell-shocked, staring at him with your fingers pressed to your lips. âI canât believe it.âÂ
âAlright, it wasnât all me,â James defends himself. âLilyâs the one who made sure heâll never be able to father children.âÂ
summary: (porn w/ small plot) after countless days of breathless moans and whispered praises with sirius, you finally took it upon yourself to study. you had a final coming up on none other than advanced muggle studies, which you dreadfully had to look forward to. but sirius? heâd do anything to keep you from it, even if it meant âstudyingâ you himself.
a/n: this is my first time writing smut so any kind criticism is appreciated. iâm always looking to improve <3 just to be clear, iâve turned this into a hogwarts university type au, which is where the âadvanced muggle studiesâ comes in + sirius and reader both being above 18.
w/c: 3k but i swear 70% of it is smut, starting from under the cut, so enjoy!
! content warnings (MDNI): p in v sex, a lot of teasing, flirting, dirty thoughts, graphic imagery, slight fingering (if you squint), semi-public sex, softdom!sirius, slight degradation, a lot of sirius mocking you through it and calling you petnames.
lily had been the one to get you to finally open your notes after you had been wrapped around sirius for the past weekâher gentle but pointed reminders being: âyou donât really wanna fail, do you?â and, âhe can be left alone for one second without your attention, heâs not a dog! wellâyou know what i mean.â
but it was nearly impossible to get away from himâhim being your boyfriend, sirius black, of course. you decided to let him join you in the library for study help, the only rule being that he were to keep his eyes on your precious book of advanced muggle studies and nowhere else, no matter how much his brain didnât let him. no matter how much he wanted to look at you.
you in that skirt that rode up slightly whenever you sat down, revealing your soft thighs that were pressed together. he so badly wanted to part them, to slide his hands up and sink into youâwarm, wet, home to him.
you were completely oblivious, mindlessly twirling your quill between your fingers, the feather brushing your bottom lip every so often. it only made sirius look more perversely, his stare growing darker.
his gaze trailed down, finding the little beauty spots dotting your thighs, the ones he wanted to trace with his tongue until his mouth was pressed right to your core. then, to your lips, plush and glistening when you licked themâthose very lips that had wrapped around his cock days ago so perfectly, that he still thought about it every night.
a sound escaped himâa slight groan sirius couldnât hold in, feeling the heat rush immediately to his abdomen and even more down under. you mistook the groan for boredom, as sirius shuffled slightly in his seat and leaned back to try and meet your beautiful eyes.
âsweetheart, how much longer must i suffer from theseâŚâ he took one glance at the words on the textbook and squinted like it was written in runes, âmikro waa-ves?â
you snorted, and peered past his shoulder. âmicrowave?â
the scent of your perfume drifted to him immediatelyâa mix of all delightful things like jasmine, amber, citrus, and whatever that sweet woody note was that he could never place, but always felt in his chest like a punch. it hit him the way a scent of a pie cooling on a windowsill might hit a starving man.
he blinked himself back to reality, mouth quirking. âyeah those godric-awful spinny heat box things.â and with a dramatic sigh, he dropped his forehead right on the textbook. âyou couldâve been very nicely taken care of in the broom closet, but nooooâwe had to bloody study!â
âi knowâŚdonât think iâm that thrilled either. trust me,â you murmured and gently rubbed his back in slow circles out of comfort. your palm was warm through his shirt.
something spiked in him. just your touch, warm and inviting, made his cock twitch, strained against his trousers. combined with that sweet smell of your perfume? it was torture. any mere contact with you always got him hard. he wanted you all the time just to ruin you over and over again.
thatâs when you sensed it, the rigidity of him. the way his back muscles tensed, the flick of his head upward. his eyes locked onto you in a way that made your breath hitch. you could tell he was practically begging, and merlin help you, you were just as gone for him too.
âyou think i donât want you right now?â you whispered in that smile, biting your lip with that teasing tone, before remembering your so-called studying duties.
you left it with a sigh and turned back to the book. âbut unfortunately we have mikro waa-ves to take care of.â
sirius snorted at your mock-pronunciation, the corner of his mouth curled up like he couldnât decide between laughing or just kissing you senseless. then, without warning, he reached for your textbook, shutting it with a thud, as his other hand found the bare skin of your thighâplaying with the hem of your skirt.
âso?â his voice was low, rough around the edges, and you swear you could melt in his touch right there.
you loved when he used that voice on you, but somehow you also loved it more when it didnât come with academic consequences.
âhow about we take a very fulfilling break? you deserve it, dove.â his head tilted, eyes that darkened with something far more desperate than his casual tone suggested.
just the sight of it made your thighs clench together, feeling the wetness beginning to pool already. and the worst (or best) part? you had no underwear.
none at all. youâd dressed this morning knowing full well sirius would find a way to have you. youâd made it so easy, like a little rewardâthat was, if he had helped you study.
sirius knew that look that you bore, he knew it so well that he cocked his head to the side again, like a predator sniffing prey and licked his lips in a feral grin.
he got up in a stretch and had a hand already down your arm, pulling your wrist into a playful tug.
âsirius.â you tried to sound stern, eyes narrowing up at him. âyou promised youâd help me study.â
âi promised many things sweetheart.â he flashed that cocky grin with a heat that made your stomach flip. âfilling you up is one of them.â
you wanted to roll your eyes, but the ache between your legs was pounding. he gave a wink, and still managed to bring you up to your feet.
much to your excessive grumbling and the sheer concern of getting caught, sirius somehow had you back against a shelf in an abandoned section of the library, his body caging you in.
his mouth was on yours â starving, hungry and desperate, kissing you like heâd been holding his breath all week and you were the only air left. his tongue pushed past your lips, swallowing your small gasps, his hands gripping your hips like he needed to hold your squirming body in place or heâd explode.
you let out the smallest whimper, high and soft, feeling that burning ache right in your core. thatâs when sirius pulled back to grin wickedly at you, his ears perking up at the sound.
âthere she is.â he cooâd in a murmur. âwhat happened to my grumbling girl from before, hm?â
âshut up. itâs your fault for kissing me like that.â you were breathless, flushed, already arching toward him.
clearly the way you looked wasnât helping, and neither was how he did.
sirius looked even hotter like this. his pupils were full blown, chest rising and falling in small rapid breaths. he had that cocky smirk, still unbelievably hotâeven when he was practically mocking you for being so needy.
âsomeoneâs being a brat.â he said back in that teasing tone with a sharp glint in his eyesâfixated and starving.
before you even had the chance to answer again, sirius sank to his knees, his hands roaming up the soft curves of your thighs right under your skirt.
your fingers instinctively found his hair in a tug and he groaned right into your inner thigh like it was instinct. you whimpered incoherently, hips squirming, your clit so untouched and throbbing that it was just begging for his mouth or fingersâanything to relieve it.
his hands pressed down on your thighs to spread them apart firmly, skirt bunched upâand thatâs when he froze. his eyes widened, jaw slack.
âfuck meâŚâ his words were reverent.
a mixture of disbelief and awe in his voice as his eyes roamed your soaked core. no underwear, heâd finally noticed. his gaze flickered back up to you, a smirk curled on his face, all slow and dangerous. you knew you were in trouble.
âoh you bad fuckinâ girl.â he drawled, and looked back right at your cunt, before taking two fingers and sliding them along your soaked folds, his rings clinking and cold against your heat.
âshitâŚyouâre drenched. all from listening to me talk? about muggle studies?â his laugh came out low and filthy, like he already knew the answer.
you let out the softest mewl, hips bucking just slightly. âsiriusâplease,â you whimpered.
he brought his fingers to his mouth, sucking his fingers clean without breaking eye contact. his moan vibrated around his fingers so shamelessly at the taste, and you could only imagine those moans vibrating through your cunt instead.
you tasted like sin to him and you watched while biting your lip, trembling at the sight of him worshipping you.
with a soft pop, he pulled his fingers free, gripping your thighs as he straightened up again. you whined at the loss of contact.
âbaby noâ i was readyââ you formed a pout on your pretty plump lips, missing the emptiness already.
âshh i know baby, i know.â he murmured, cupping your face with both hands as his thumbs grazed your cheeks lovingly. that teasing smirk lingered long enough to torment.
âbut good girls would have their panties on, wouldnât they?â he leaned in, his lips brushing your ear as his hands slid down your sides, voice dripping with mocking arousal. âyouâve been walking around like this all dayâno bloody knickersâjust begging me to lose my mind?â
his lips planted soft kisses along the curve of your neck, his dark cologne mingling with the faint smell of cigarettes that always made you infatuated. âmerlin, iâve been half-hard since breakfast.â his voice was a low rasp, and it only made you wetter.
you were falling apart already, a soaring heat coiled low in your stomach that almost made it too much to bear.
âplease! mâsorry-â you whined, back arching off the wall, just for your chest to press more against his, like a desperate plea.
he let out a breathless laugh, more like a groan. âyeah you will be.â he said with a growl against your skin, breaths coming out in quick pants.
he pulled back to fumble with his belt. the metallic clink of his buckle that hit the ground had made your pulse spike. he shoved his jeans down in one rough motion, flashing you with a wicked grin like you already knew how wrecked you were. the dark fabric of his boxers clung to him, a damp patch spreading right over the thick outline of his length straining against it. he hooked his thumbs in the waistband and dragged them down slowly, bearing himself to you.
your gasp turned into a soft moan as his cock sprang free, flushed and angry at the tip. the head of it glistened, beads of precum leaking from it, veins so prominent, like it was meant to be lined with your tongueâlike his cock was meant to mold right within your walls, to be slotted in you seamlessly.
he kept that smug infuriating grin, drinking in the way your eyes fixated on his cock. he lifted your hips effortlessly, your legs clung around his waist as he lined himself against your dripping entrance, nudging it teasingly with his tip. âsuch a pretty thingâŚyouâve been aching for me all day, havenât you?
his voice was husky, just laced with filth. you let out a shivery sigh at just the prod of his cock, clenching around nothing. you nodded with heavy lidded eyes, your voice high-pitched.
âoh sirius, you donât even knowââ
you managed to utter, and he cut you off with a low disbelieving groan. âoh i do know. been thinking about it all bloody day. thinking about stretching you outâŚfeeling you squeeze around me until i canât think straight.â a growl slipped out. âgonna take me in so deep youâll milk me dry, yeah?â his eyes fluttered at the thought, before they snapped back to yours.
the head of his cock slid along your folds and you let out a strangled moan, both from his filthy words, and how badly you craved him.
sirius was just as desperate, you could feel the tension within himâbut still he kept drawing it out, a deliberate punishment for hanging around with nothing under your skirt all day.
ânow beg, baby. make it pretty.â
your fingers were curled at the nape of his neck, tugging onto the strands just to make him hiss. you brought yourself to meet his eyes, shivering.
âplease- hmmph sirius-â
he clicked his tongue condisendingly and it made you flinch because you knew you were wrong.
âplease what? gonna use that pretty little mouth for me sweetheart? because you were talking an awful lot before i got you here.â
his smile was all teeth, eyes gleaming with lust as he leaned in to brush his lips barely against yours in a ghost.
you squirmed even more, locking your legs tighter around his hips. âpleaseâplease fuck me, fill me upââ you babbled.
âgood girl.â he groaned, finally pushing into you, a single deep thrust that stole air from your lungs. he didnât even give you time to adjust, already moving with his hands groping your ass.
âgodricâyouâre perfect.â
you could feel a delicious stretch as your walls caved in around his cock in a squeeze, fluttering around him. sirius groaned into your lips. âso fuckinâ tightââ he mustered as he finally bottomed out.
his pace was then relentless, every thrust slamming into your sweet spot instantaneously as he swallowed every whimper that left you.
your head fell back against the bookshelf in a thud, breaking the kiss. âohâyes!â you managed to moan in a surprised gasp, already dizzying at his furious pace. the shelf behind you creaked, but you didnât care.
with your neck on display, he pressed hot sloppy kisses to your skin all the way up to your jaw, hands squeezing at your ass and hips in a bruise.
you clenched around him, keeping him in as much as possible as he readjusted his grip.
âfuuuck- yeah do that again.â he managed to gasp out into your neck, his voice gravelly.
you whimpered, clenching again which only made sirius stutter in his movement, muttering the filthiest of praises to you between each thrust.
âyouâre squeezing me hereâfuckinâ slut for my cock huh?â he gritted his teeth, words spilling out in half babbles as he kept his pace, relentless and pushing.
you nodded with half lidded eyes, just your mind breaking apart with every push. he was stretching out your spongy walls, burying himself right to the hilt. his voice, deep and husky reached your ears.
âsay it.â
you managed to muster out, squeezing him again. âyesâi am!â you tugged on his hair harshly which only made him hiss more.
âyeah, my greedy little cockslut.â
one of his hands finally lifted from your thighs just to press tight circles to your neglected bud.
that spurred you on, the coil inside you pulled hot. you let out a gasp, the feeling of ecstasy reaching you.
and sirius knew, he was attuned to every part of your body. âcome on, baby, give it to me. cum all over my cock.â he rasped against your ear in a grunt, hips losing their steadiness, his thumb still working your clit. âsoak me, sweetheart.â
his voice, uncharacteristically gentle, was all you needed. the pleasure snapped, flooding you as you screamed out his name. you clenched around him so harshly that sirius started praying to whatever entity there was in the sky to thank them, as his cock pumped thickly in and out of you.
you were still fluttering, still in a daze when you finally found your voice.
âbaby cum for me, right inside meâyeah? wanna be full of you.â you whispered weakly back to him, cupping his cheeks and carefully trying to brush the hair from his eyes.
and that finished him. sirius lost it as curses tumbled out of him, his thrusts turning ragged. âah shitâfuck, fuck fuckââ
he groaned, wanting to keep you full so badly, until you felt his cock twitch deep inside. you felt spurts of thick hot ropes of warmth filling you up, and you let out a moan at the feeling. his hips finally stilled, forehead pressed to yours.
âso good fâmeâŚâ he mumbled in a sigh, sweating.
you both were in breathless pants, heat still humming in your veins. when he finally pulled out, you clenched at the loss and he let out a low chuckle. âstill greedy, huh?â
a book thudded to the floor from behind you, startling you both in a freeze, before you dissolved in soft shaky laughter.
âmerlin, youâre the sexiest thing ever like this.â he traced lazy circles into your thigh. âbet youâre not gonna remember a thing in your notes.â
you scoffed, knowing he was right but didnât want to admit it regardless. he pulled away to lower your legs gently, an arm firm around your waist as you wobbled. âyou okay, dove? not too much?â
you shook your head softly, still feeling the warmth of him. âmâ fine.â you murmured, grinning. âdonât think this bookshelf is though.â
âeh, nobody reads books anyway.â
âyou mean you donât read them.â
he rolled his eyes, mimicking your voice before dragging you toward the desks. âspeaking of booksâŚletâs get you learning some of that cursed wi-fairy.â
âwi-fi.â you corrected and his grin widened.
âyeah yeah, same thing.â he drawled as he collapsed on the chair beside you, not before helping you first.
he leaned back, hands behind his head in a smug manner. âand since i did steal ten minutes of your study time, iâll make it up to you.â
you arched a brow at him, crossing your arms. âby actually helping me?â
âby quizzing you shirtless. educational and motivational.â

âRemus, are you sure youâre alright?â Siriusâs voice was quiet and careful.
Remus didnât answer right away. He was curled on the couch, spine pressed deep into the cushions, one hand splayed protectively over his stomach, the other fisted in the hem of his jumper.Â
Across from him, you sat with your knees drawn to your chest, a hot water bottle nestled low against your abdomen.Â
You hadnât said much in the past half hour. The cramps were worse today â dull, insistent, with a leaden pull that radiated down your back and into your thighs.Â
But how could you speak of your own pain, however sharp, when Remus looked like this?
His breathing was controlled, but uneven. His fingers twitched now and then, as though pretending he wasnât holding himself together by the seams.
Sirius moved closer, lowering himself to a crouch beside the couch. âMoons, love,â he said softly. âDonât wait too long this time, alright? If it gets worse, weâre going in. I mean it. No stoic nonsense tonight.â
Remus gave a faint nod. âI know,â he murmured. âIâll say something.â
Sirius didnât look convinced, but he didnât push. Instead, he reached out and brushed his hand along Remusâs shin, thumb moving in quiet, rhythmic strokes over the fabric of his trousers.Â
You shifted slightly, pressing the hot water bottle more firmly to your abdomen.Â
You told yourself you could handle it. That a little discomfort wasnât worth mentioning. That voicing it would feel selfish.
Then Sirius looked at you.
His brow furrowed, concern flickering in his eyes. âYou alright?â
You nodded too quickly. âYeah. Itâs justââ You hesitated, tried to make light of it, forced a laugh that didnât quite make it out whole. âCramps. Itâs nothing.â
Remus looked over at that, his expression faintly softening even through the haze of his own pain. âStill bad?â
You hesitated. Then nodded. âKind of wrecked, yeah.â
It hit without warning.
One moment, you were sitting quietly on the edge of the couch, blanket tucked around your legs, trying to focus on the low hum of the room and the sound of Remusâs breathing.Â
The next, a sharp cramp sliced through your lower abdomen like a fist clenched from the inside.Â
It came so suddenly and with such force that your breath caught in your throat, and your entire body folded in on itself with the pain.
You curled your arms around your stomach, pressing your hands flat against the fabric of your jumper, as if that might somehow hold you together.Â
The heat rose behind your eyes too quickly. You barely registered the pressure of tears before they slipped free, and you turned your head to the side in shame, trying to make yourself small, trying to breathe through it.Â
That was all it took.
Sirius was across the room before anyone could blink.
He dropped everything in his hands without hesitationâblanket, mug, whatever heâd brought.Â
All of it hit the ground as he knelt in front of you, eyes wide with panic masked as control.
âHeyâhey, hey, baby, what is it?â His hands hovered near your arms but didnât touch yet. âWhatâs wrong, love? Tell me where it hurts. Come on. Talk to me.â
You could barely see him through your lashes. Your arms were still clutched around your middle. You didnât want him to see your face.
Remus stirred from the other end of the couch as his voice broke through the haze, strained and low. âIs sheâSirius, is she okay?â
Sirius looked over his shoulder briefly, his voice gentle but quick. âSheâs hurting. Itâs okay. Iâve got her.â
You shook your head fiercely, still hunched over. âIâm fine, Iâmâfineâjustâjust crampsââ
But your voice cracked halfway through. You tried to swallow down the sob that followed, but it bubbled up anyway, hitching your chest, making the words come out broken and small.
âSweetheart,â Sirius whispered, finally placing a hand over yours. âYouâre shaking. Talk to me, yeah? Where does it hurt?â
You shook your head again, fingers digging into the fabric of your jumper. âEverywhere,â you managed, the word barely a whisper.
Another sob slipped through.Â
You covered your face instinctively, ashamed of the way your lip trembled, of how you couldnât stop the hiccupping gasps that followed.Â
You didnât want to do this. Not in front of them. Not while Remus was already hurting.
Siriusâs hands came up to gently cup your wrists, his voice barely above a breath. âNo, no, no, donât hide. Please, love. Donât do that. Let me see you. Let me help.â
When you didnât move, he slowly reached up and brushed your fingers aside with his own, peeling your hands from your face.
âThere you are,â he murmured when your tear-streaked face finally met his gaze.
His expression softened at once, like something in him unclenched the moment you let him see you properly.Â
He reached up, fingers brushing softly across your cheek, catching the salty tracks of your tears like they were something precious.
âThereâs my pretty girl,â he said quietly, voice low and steady. âNow talk to me, yeah? Where does it hurt? Is it the cramps again, or are you feeling nauseous?â
You couldnât hold it back anymore. A sob slipped out before you could catch it, and suddenly Siriusâs hands were on either side of your face.
âIâm sorry,â you whispered, and it felt ridiculous even as you said it. âI justâI didnât want to make it about me.â
Sirius closed his eyes for a second like the sentence physically hurt him. When he opened them again, his voice was nothing but softness.
âYou never have to apologize for hurting. Do you understand me? Never.â
âI know Remus needsââ
âAnd I need you,â he said. âHe needs you. We both do. And right now you need someone too, and thatâs me. You donât have to choose between being strong and being loved.â
You were trembling now, the heat of your own tears making you feel dizzy. Sirius just stayed there, holding your face like you were the most important thing in the world.
âLet me take care of you, yeah?â he said again, quieter this time.Â
He reached under your legs and around your back, moving as smoothly as he could, and you didnât resist as he lifted you into his arms.Â
âIâve got you,â he murmured again and again, as if the words themselves could knit your pain into something softer.
He crossed the room and lowered you beside Remus, careful and precise.Â
Remus reached out with trembling fingers the second you were close enough, brushing the back of your hand as Sirius tucked the blanket around you both.
âThere,â Sirius said quietly, crouching beside the couch and looking at you both. âNow you can be in pain together. A real bloody power couple.â
The words hung in the air for a beat, and despite everything, it was a little funny. Darkly, stupidly funny.Â
You, tear-streaked and curled up like a discarded doll, pressed against Remus, who looked like heâd been personally steamrolled by the moon itself. The two of you were a matching set of misery.
You let out a tear-choked laugh in spite of yourself. Remus gave a weak chuckle too, though his face was drawn tight with worry as he looked at you.
Sirius had gone quiet, which was rarely a good sign.
After bundling the two of you up on the couch and adjusting the blanket three separate times, he pressed kisses to both your temples and straightened with a determined huff.
âAlright,â he said, standing with a sigh. âIâm heading to the kitchen. Gonna make some tea â I read somewhere that it helps with period pain. And if it doesnât, at least youâll both be mildly hydrated and warm.â
And then he disappeared into the kitchen.
The moment the door swung shut behind him, a hush settled over the room â a gentle, almost sacred quiet that felt strangely welcome after the wave of emotions that had just crashed through.
You shifted, slow and careful, and leaned sideways until your head rested gently in Remusâs lap.Â
He made a soft sound of surprise, but didnât move away â only adjusted his position so youâd be more comfortable.
You closed your eyes.
A second passed, and then his hand came down slowly, fingers threading into your hair, the motion delicate and soothing.Â
Then, in that soft, unmistakably Remus voice, he murmured, âYou know⌠you donât have to do that.â
You blinked. âDo what?â
His fingers paused briefly, then resumed their slow pattern. âHide your pain because of mine.â
Your heart sank a little at the words â not because you didnât expect him to notice, but because of how gently heâd said it. No accusation. Just quiet, aching honesty.
âI wasnât trying toââ you started, but he cut you off gently.
âI know. I know you werenât. Thatâs the thing. You werenât trying. You were just doing what you always do, making space for everyone else.â
You let out a long, shaky sigh and turned your face slightly into his thigh.
âItâs not like it compares. Youâve got⌠I mean. Itâs your entire body breaking down.â
âAnd yours isnât?â he asked. âJust because mineâs attached to a full moon and a curse doesnât mean yours is nothing. Pain is pain. It doesnât need a hierarchy.â
You didnât respond right away, so he kept going, his tone still quiet and certain.
âI hate when you think you have to earn help. Or that if youâre not bleeding from the eyeballs, it doesnât count. Thatâs not how this works, love.â
You exhaled, eyes fluttering shut. âI guess I just didnât want to be another problem.â
Remus laughed softly â not at you, never at you â but with that kind of exasperated fondness that only comes from someone who loves you completely.
âYouâre not a problem. Youâre the person I want to help through problems. Thereâs a difference.â
You were quiet for a beat, then mumbled, âWhen did you get so good at this?â
âIâve had a lot of practice hurting,â he said simply. âEventually you figure out how to recognize it in other people. Especially when you love them.â
You turned slightly so you could look up at him. âI do love you, you know.â
His lips curved into a soft smile. âYeah. I do know.â
His hand moved again, slower now, sweeping back your hair as he looked down at you like you were something heâd never get tired of seeing.
âI love you too,â he said. âAnd so does the madman currently reorganizing our entire kitchen based on your tea preferences.â
You snorted. âDo I even have tea preferences?â
âYou do now,â he said. âI heard him muttering something about lemongrass and rebirthing the uterus.â
You both laughed â gently, because your stomach still ached, but real laughter nonetheless. The kind that loosened something tight in your chest.
The moment had almost turned quiet again â Remusâs hand brushing gently against your shoulder, the weight of the heating pad soft against your abdomenâ when Siriusâs voice broke through the calm.
âRemus?â he called from the kitchen, sounding bewildered in a way that was rarely promising. âDo we even own a kettle?â
Remus didnât even flinch. He simply tilted his head toward the ceiling and exhaled like a man who had stared into the abyss one too many times.Â
You could feel the resignation pouring off him before he even opened his mouth.
âItâs exactly where itâs always been,â he said, loud enough for Sirius to hear but still soft around the edges.Â
âRight-hand side of the counter, next to the spice rack. Itâs silver, has a handle, and in case youâve forgotten, itâs the only object in the entire flat that whistles.â
There was a pause â the soft clatter of something being set downâ and then Siriusâs voice again.
âOh, thatâs what that is!â
Remus turned his head toward you, blinking slowly. âHeâs been using it to water the plants.â
You pressed your hand to your mouth to stifle a laugh. âYouâre joking.â
âI wish I were.â
Just as Remus reached for your abdomen again, Sirius called out a second time, this time sounding somehow both triumphant and confused.Â
âWhereâs the actual tea kept? You know, the⌠leaves? Or do we just buy it?â
âItâs in the middle cabinet above the stove,â Remus called out, voice low and tired. âSecond shelf. The tin with the loose chamomile.â
There was a pause. Then Siriusâs voice from the kitchen:
âIs it supposed to look like⌠this? Kinda yellow and dried out?â
âNo,â Remus grumbled. âThatâs turmeric, you idiot!â
Remus turned to you again, eyes tired but affectionate, and leaned in slightly.Â
His thumb brushed softly along your cheekbone, and his voice lowered in a way that only belonged to you.
âNow that weâve briefly returned to pretending we live in a functioning household,â he murmured, âtell meâ how are the cramps now? Still awful?â
You smiled faintly, tilting your face into his palm. âStill awful, but slightly less noticeable now that my survival instincts have kicked in.â
âGood,â Remus said with a tired nod. âTea as distraction therapy. Not ideal, but itâs something.â
Sirius reappeared from the kitchen carrying a tray that looked like a mismatched collection of whatever was clean.Â
Two mugs sat side by side â one a scratched-up beer glass, the other a Quidditch World Cup souvenir with a plastic broomstick handle. Next to them was a bowl of chunky soup still steaming, and an overfilled hot water bottle.
He set the tray down carefully. âHere we go. Tea by whatever means necessary.â
Remus glanced at the beer glass. âYouâre seriously using my stag party stein?â
Sirius grinned. âIt was either that or a flower vase. I figured this was the lesser evil.â
You didnât say anything. You were too busy trying not to laugh at the deep, sludgy brown color of the liquid in your glass.Â
It looked like something a healer might prescribe after a curse backfires.
Sirius beamed at you both and sat down, watching eagerly as you each picked up your mug.
You took the tiniest sip possible, more vapor than liquid, and immediately felt your entire soul attempt to escape your body through your nose.Â
It tasted like bark and soap and something floral that had clearly never meant to be steeped.
Remus made a barely audible sound of protest after his own sip, then forced his mouth into a painfully neutral line and set the cup back down like it was radioactive.
Sirius leaned in, eager, almost childlike. âSo? Be honest. Do you feel better? Is it healing you physically? Did you feel your uterus unfurl?â
You nodded slowly, then gave him the gentlest smile you could manage. âI⌠I felt something.â
Remus, ever the diplomat, added, âIt has a very strong presence.â
Sirius grinned. âRight? I added ginger and lavender and that weird red stuff from the back.â
âThe red stuff?â Remus asked, eyes narrowing.
âYeah. The⌠earthy one. It smelled like forest!â
You and Remus exchanged a silent look, then turned back to Sirius.Â
âI just want you both to feel taken care of,â he said softly, his voice shifting again, dropping low and sincere in a way that made your chest ache.
And despite the taste still lingering on your tongue and the odd thickness of the tea coating your throat, you both smiled and meant it when you said, together:
âWe do!â
Sirius leaned back, his arms draping behind both of you again as he looked between you with that impossible, boyish devotion that never faded no matter how old any of you got.
âGood,â he said, settling in again. âBecause Iâm planning to overdo this for the next twelve hours.â
You smiled against the rim of your cup and prepared your stomach for another sip of horrendous tea.
But if it meant staying wrapped up like this â warmth, noise, love â youâd drink the whole thing.
Sirius flopped down between you both, tugging the blanket up again and nudging Remus with his knee.
You and Remus exchanged tired, grateful looks before turning to him.
You reached out, fingers brushing against his hand. âThank you,â you murmured softly. âWe couldnât have done this without you.â
Remus leaned in slightly, his fingers brushing Siriusâs before curling around them. His voice was low but certain. âWeâd be wrecked without you.â
Sirius gave a quiet scoff, squeezing his hand back. âYeah, well. I live to serve the emotionally and physically unstable.â
You snorted into your tea. âThat includes you, by the way.â
âExactly,â Sirius said with a grin. âTruly a one-man support group.â
The silence didnât last long. Sirius the. dramatically sighed, his voice heavy with mock frustration. âYâknow⌠I hate being normal.â
You both turned to look at him in bewilderment.
âWhat?â he said, completely unbothered. âYou two get cool biological attacks every month. I just get stress and skin problems.â
Remus muttered under his breath, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, âYou really are weird, Sirius.â
You couldnât hold it in â a bright, genuine laugh burst from you, filling the quiet room with something light and easy.
Sirius grinned, his hand sliding around Remusâs side in a gentle squeeze.
A soft, amused giggle escaped him. âOh please, the ones who turn into wolves every month and bleed from their vaginas get to call me weird?â
You jabbed him lightly in the ribs. âHey! We canât help that, you wanker!â
All three of you laughed, the teasing bouncing back and forth like an old game. Sirius smirked, eyes sparkling, and started rattling off little quirks only someone living with you both would know.
âLike how Moony gets all grumpy and broody every full moon, like heâs got the weight of the world on his shoulders.â
Remus rolled his eyes but shot back with a smirk, âExcuse me, BlackâI do carry a heavy weight every month. You just donât see it!â
The room filled with warm laughter again, the teasing folding seamlessly into the quiet comfort between you.
Yet somehow, beneath all the teasing and mismatched mugs, there was an unspoken truth.
You and Remus both knew, without ever needing to say it, that Sirius would always be there every time, without question and complaint.Â
And Sirius knew this with equal clarity: that no matter how much it hurt, no matter how often it returned, he would hold you both through it all, month after month, pain and all, for as long as youâd let him.
fuuuuck i just realized that the future idealized version of myself cant exist without current me being the catalyst for change and doing hard things. has anybody heard about this
