Dear Adam, You look handsome today. Sincerely, Your Secret Admirer.
Adam felt his cheeks flush at the note he’d found. “Well, thanks, there’s gotta be looks hidden under all this soot.” He said wiping at his cheek.
“There, that should help until you can see the physician, at least,” Laudine said as she tied off the bandages. “How on earth did that happen, anyway?”
Adam grunted a bit at the way the bandages tightened around his torso. “Regrettably, it is a work place hazard.” He sighed. If he’d been paying attention, he would have seen the sword was hanging to far off the table before it decided to swipe into him.
brangaine-gwas:
“People who have an abundance of beautiful things,” Brangaine said without stopping to think, then blushed at how that must have come across. “I mean, it was probably placed in here temporarily to be moved or while they did some work in the room and then it was forgotten.”
“Perhaps we should take it out then? Leave it on a table for someone to find and hang up, unless you have a place that it would be better suited for.” Scratching lightly at the back of his neck, Adam let a hum slip from his lips. “I could never understand how people could make things like this.”
queen-of-cardigan:
Anna didn’t know what to say; she just looked at him for what seemed like an eternity. It wasn’t like she didn’t know that she deserved it, because she did. She just wasn’t sure if she had expected it. Her eyes moved around them, noting how most of her entourage had already headed inside and the rest were out of earshot.
“It… it was comfortable enough. I’m just glad to have arrived,” small talk wasn’t something she thought she would have had to do with Adam, perhaps he was the one person she wouldn’t have needed to be so polite around. “I can’t bear you looking at me like you hate me,” the words were out of her mouth before she could stop them, making her look away again.
“You know very well, that I could never hate you.” Adam said rather defensively. When she looked away from him, the man took that moment to collect his thoughts. Just the notion that she thinks he hates her was breaking his heart. He couldn’t hate that woman. Aside from his sister-in-law and his niece, Anna was very important in his life. He just worried that he was still important in hers.
Shifting once more, Adam looked around them. He could just pick out one or two of her ladies maids. Some women that he’d met when she’d first been in Camelot. Nodding his head toward them, he took in a deep breath. “We shouldn’t have this conversation here.” He murmured, wanting to keep his voice low.
queen-of-cardigan:
Anna nearly choked on air when she heard the voice that answered her. Adam. She had missed him so much, words probably couldn’t even describe that and yet, to him, it probably seemed like she didn’t care anymore. But it couldn’t have been further from the truth.
His words made her physically flinch as she looked at him. Perhaps he had given up waiting on her and in all honesty, she wouldn’t have blamed him. She had stopped her letters, not because she didn’t want to write them, but because she missed him so much. Because if she had to marry someone else, she couldn’t bear to still feel the way she did for him. In her head, stopping the letters was to try and see if her feelings would fade, but they didn’t. And now to feel his coldness, it made her heart ache. “Adam,” she began, swallowing thickly, trying to keep her voice from breaking, “It’s… it’s good to see you”.
The way she looked at him. It almost felt like the past few months hadn’t happened. That he was still the man she loved and wanted to be with. But, was that the truth in it all? He wanted nothing more than to reach out and wrap her in his embrace. In doing so, he felt it would only confuse the situation more. Hearing his name spill from her lips was almost enough to crack the wall he’d started to build since she left. His intent in doing so was to hide his heart until she’d return to him. Yet now, he didn’t have the strength to knock it back down.
“You as well, Your Highness. I do hope your journey home and back was safe.” Adam shifted a bit awkwardly on his feet. Arms moving to fold across his chest, the blacksmith casted his eyes to the ground.
queen-of-cardigan:
Anna stepped down out of her carriage after it stopped in Camelot. It was not the same optimistic arrival as last time for a lot weighed on her mind. Her own kingdom was safe for the moment and the people were as pleasant as ever, just as she had left it. But there was more, an impending decision that might well have to be made… and it would change her future drastically. And not just hers but possibly the man she loved. The main reason she had returned was so that she could be among her allies and perhaps collect herself. It was then, in amongst all her thoughts, that she realised she nearly walked right into someone, only dodging out of the way at the last second.
“My apologises, I wasn’t looking where I was going,” she spoke quickly, eager to get inside and collect herself.
Work. That was what had filled his days over the past few months. Working on armor and weapons for the knights. Little trinkets for the children of the village out of scarp metal, anything he could do to distract him from the letters that had stopped arriving. He was leaving the castle grounds now, having just delivered some freshly sharpened weapons to the knights of Camelot, Adam kept his head down, only long enough to stop him from running into the one person he’d desperately wanted to see.
His heart skipped a beat in his chest. Was he dreaming? He had to be. Why hadn’t she notified him of her return. Taking a slight step back, he bowed his head. “The fault is mine, Your Highness.” He said a bit colder than he had intended.

Dinadan’s mouth twisted thoughtfully to one side. He was hardly one to judge for not well thought out and disruptive behaviour, but even he had to think there were better ways to deal with being bored than a fist fight in the middle of the street. If it was becoming a problem in the city, then it was the castle’s responsibility to try and fix it. “He’d better,” he muttered, watching the fallen man carefully and wondering if he ought to fetch a physician. “Or this is going to become a lot more trouble.”
Tilting his head slightly, Adam watched the scene unfold before him. The man who had been knocked to the ground made no move to get up. Eyes quickly darting to the other fighter, the blacksmith watched as he took off down the cobblestone. “Well, that ended poorly.” He grumbled turning to walk away.
brangaine-gwas:
“I think it’s a tapestry,” Brangaine explained, getting to her feet and crossing over to a nearby table so she could lay the swathe of material out and unfold it to see exactly what it was. It was probably as tall as she was when it was laid out, the weave so fine she could hardly pick out the individual stitches. “A white stag … isn’t it lovely?”
Running his hand over the fabric, Adam tried not to let his soot stained feathers brush against the material for too long. “It is beautiful. Does make me wonder who would leave something this nice just locked in a chest.”
dinadanhirhyfelwr:
Dinadan raised his eyebrows Fifteen minutes was a long time for a scrap on the streets. “If they don’t get bored soon,” he muttered, frowning as he looked at them. As a knight, it was really his duty to step in and put a stop to all of this, but he did not want to get in the middle of that.
“That’s what you’d think. But, people are bored. They have to find entertainment where they can.” Running his fingers through his hair, Adam made a wince as he watched one of the men land a pretty hard blow to the other. “Oh, wow, he’s going to be feeling that one in the morning. You know, if he ever gets up off the ground.”
brangaine-gwas:
Brangaine had slowly been working her way through the chest, pulling out scrolls and placing them gently on the floor as she investigated each new item. Now she pulled her head, and most of her torso, out of the chest to look up at the newcomer, a large swathe of folded fabric in her arms. “Well, there is this.”
Furrowing his brow, disregarding what he’d originally come here for, but looked at what the young maiden had. “And what exactly is that?” He questioned moving to stand a bit closer so he could peer into the chest himself.
brangaine-gwas:
Having found herself with time to spare, Brangaine had been exploring the castle library. When she found the chest tucked away in a dark corner, with piles of scrolls and books on top, she couldn’t help the curiosity that bubbled up inside her. Carefully removing everything from on top, she lifted up the lid and peered inside, murmuring, “Now, what have we here …”
He didn’t come through the castle library often. But when he did, he was usually in search of information to help him better his forge. Which, thankfully had been going on the up with the recent amount of weapons and armor he’d been making. A few books and scrolls were already in his arms when he came upon a maiden and a rather large chest. “Find anything of interest in there?” He questioned looking over her shoulder.
dinadanhirhyfelwr:
Although he wasn’t officially on patrol, being a knight walking around tended to make people a bit nervous and Dinadan preferred to go unnoticed anyway, so he kept his hood up and his head down as he wandered through the city. Regardless, it would have been practically impossible to miss the fight beginning - the raised voices carried down the street and people were beginning to shuffle to the sides to get out of the way.
Dinadan kept behind the crowds as he moved closer. Whether he wanted to get involved or not, he couldn’t see anyone else nearby and if it looked like things would escalate … When he finally got to the culprits and began to gather what was going on, he couldn’t help rolling his eyes. “Are you serious?”
Arms folded across his chest, Adam lifted a brow. Tilting his a bit he turned toward the voice that came from beside him. “They’ve been going out for about fifteen minutes now.” The blacksmith pointed out. “I’ve got money on the little scrappy one. He’s been doing well so far.”
camelotsownseamstress:
“I didn’t really think it through before climbing up,” she admitted, her cheeks flushing light red. Moving quickly, she grabbed the hammer from where he told her it would be and within a blink of an eye she was back, handing it to him. “Here. So, I noticed you’ve been away from the forge quite a lot lately,” she said, trying to sound casually but inside she was incredibly curious about where he’s been spending his time.
Biting at his bottom lip, Adam looked down toward the ground at Elsa. “I’ve been, I guess busy with King Urien. And I’ve been working on a project, so I guess I’ve just put the forge on the back burner for a moment.” Plus there was the small matter of his affair with a Queen. Though he wasn’t quite ready to reveal that to his family just yet.
queen-of-cardigan:
Anna could feel how his hands gripped at her, almost in desperation but it wasn’t something that scared her off; it only amplified how she felt. One hand gripped at the front of his shirt. She felt the need inside of her to be as close as possible to him, like all boundaries and walls were down and they could just be themselves.
It was Adam’s words that made her move her gaze up to stare right into his eyes. He loved her. “And I love you,” she whispered back to him, one of her hands coming to cover his hand with her own, “I think I knew even when I saw you for the first time, covered in dust and grime”. She paused for a moment before continuing on, “I love you now and even if the Gods try to pull us apart, it will always be you Adam. There’s no one else for me”.
“No one will pull us apart Anna..” He murmured. Resting his forehead against hers he took in a deep breath. His senses were filled with her. The way she smelled of roses, the way her skin felt warm and soft under his hands. The way she seemed to be the only thing he could focus on when she was in a room. She was his. And he was hers. There was nothing he wanted to change that.
“The gods them self would have to come down and strike me dead before parting from you was even a thought in my mind.” Pressing his lips to hers, he felt a jolt run through his body. “You are my Queen Anna...I live only to serve you.”
adam-gofaint:
With his mask now tossed by their feet, Adam wrapped his arms around her waist. “Oh how I’ve missed you..” He murmured against her lips. It was moments like this that he wished he had taken the chance to become a knight. It was moments like they’d shared when they first met thta he wished he wasn’t a simple blacksmith. He wanted to give Anna the world and then some, but he couldn’t do that with where he stood socially.
Fingers sinking into her golden curls Adam couldn’t hide the hunger that sat behind the kiss. She was like a sweet ale that he couldn’t get enough off. She had him addicted. He was drunk with love for this woman. “Anna…”He murmured, pulling back just enough to bring breath back to his lungs. Foreheads pressed together, he repeated her name like a mantra.
Anna sighed contently as he spoke against her lips. She stepped closer they stood on the room, not sure if she had ever felt more at home than when he was with her. She stepped closer to him so that her body was pressed up against his, enjoying the movement too much for her own good most likely.
One of Anna’s hands moved up to unclip the cape that was around Adam’s shoulders, letting it drop to the ground to meet his mask that already lay there. “I’m yours,” she whispered in response to him saying her name, one of her hands coming up to stroke his cheek.
Adam felt a wamrth starting to spread in his chest. It coated every inch of him in sweet tingling sensation that he never wanted to lose. His hands gripped desperately at her sides. Afraid to grip her too tight for fear of brusing the pale skin under her dress. Yet more afraid of letting go for fear she might slip through her fingers. His eyes fluttered open to lock with hers. His heart siezing for a moment when he saw the fire behind them. Adam couldn't contain himself anymore. The words were out of his mouth before he could stop them.
"I love you, Anna." He murmured. His fingers moving cup her cheeks. "I love every single part of you, with every fiber of my being. I've loved you from the moment we met, and I will love you till the day I die. And even beyond then."
queen-of-cardigan:
Anna’s careful fingers worked on jewellery before she washed her face in the basin of water that had been left for her by her handmaidens. It was just as she was taking out the pins in her hair that she heard the door open and she gave him a soft smile before returning to the mirrored metal to finish off.
She was just about to finish when she felt Adam’s hands on her shoulders, closely followed by his lips on her neck that made her let out a soft breath. Soon after she turned to face him, pulling out her last pin so that her blonde curls fell over her shoulders. The Queen gently reached up to pull off his mask before leaning in, “I’ve missed you,” she whispered before closing the gap and kissing him softly.
