PFP commissioned from http://www.misiwasy.com.
Ok, it's taken me SIX YEARS to make this. But I did it! It's done! Please watch it!
(No AI used fuck AI)
It's my first animation project, which is why it took so long. I had to learn to animate to make it. It's only a bit over 2 minutes, but I made it the best I possibly could. Please please please watch it. I am so proud of it.
It's a trailer for my first novel- a late YA scifi/superhero book.
Is it absurd to make a fully animated book "trailer" for a book that's been out for 6 years, with voice acting and commissioned music (by the fantastic @plottwiststudios) ? I mean yes. Of course. I'm not even doing this for real marketing purposes because this is a ridiculous thing to do. I don't even really think it'll sell books but the process of making it made me really really happy.
I love my fictional disaster queers, and I love my book, and when I was a kid I thought I'd grow up to be an animator. I've always loved animation, and I really, really enjoyed making something animated myself. I'm really proud of how it turned out.
Please watch it. Please share it.
If it does make you actually want to read the story, you can get it as an ebook, paperback, or audiobook. (the ebook is currently free)
I start my next animation project- a fake anime opening credits for book 3 in this series, starting next month.
One year ago today I posted this practically shot Iron Giant photo I created using real figures, lighting, miniature sets & my trusty old tin foil for water technique & cotton wool for the splashes.
it’s not weird to find fanfiction from 2021, or 2017, or 2014 that you’ve never read and actually taking your time to read it.
it’s not weird to love it and comment and leave kudos because the author will probably still see it someday and it will make them happy.
it’s not weird to like said author’s work so much that you want to go look for other fics from them.
it’s not weird to go through the authors profile and look for other fics from the ships you like (or maybe some that you’ll give a chance because you liked the author) and maybe bookmark them for later.
it’s not weird to read these other fics and like them too and comment on them because you actually like them and you want to let the author know.
it’s not weird to read fanfiction from 5, or 8, or 10 years ago and actually enjoy and engage with it because it’s perfectly normal to relate to something that’s less than a decade old!
let’s stop treating fanfiction like they’re instagram posts that stop being interesting in 24 hours! fanfiction is NOT social media, fanfiction is art!!! and art doesn’t get old in one day, one year, or even a decade!
read fanfiction! write fanfiction! comment on fanfiction! let’s not let fanculture die people!!!!!
I won't publish the ask (they asked me not to), but I thought I'd still answer it publicly!
no, royalties are not a significant source of income for most authors. if you wrote something like Project Hail Mary, then absolutely, the royalties would be substantial! but that's like winning the lottery. Ryan Gosling is not starring in the movie adaption of most books.
when you sell a book to a publisher, you get what's called 'an advance against royalties'. it's usually split into multiple parts, so you might get one third for the initial sale, one third for the final revised manuscript, and one third on the publishing date.
an advance against royalties is the publisher saying "we believe you will eventually make X amount in royalties, so here it is ahead of time." and then you don't actually see any money from royalties until the advance is paid off. most books do not make enough in royalties to pay off the advance (I have two children's books and one fiction book, and have yet to see royalties for any of them).
advances are still great, but you need to make them stretch! for instance, last year my net income was about 30k Canadian (21k USD), which is fantastic when you consider that I mostly made it through writing. but I'm definitely not a millionaire. I can live off my writing (not trying to undersell that!) but I'll probably remain in a low income bracket for the foreseeable future.
this isn't meant to discourage anyone from seeking out writing as a career! however, there is a reason that many authors have alternate jobs with writing on the side. or, you know, rich spouses.
this isn't me making a fuss about pirating (I've pirated way too many shows to run my mouth on that lmao), but there IS actually a financial incentive to having people buy your books!
buying books shows the publisher that they can make money off you, which means they're more likely to give you advances for future books. and advances are what authors live off (if they don't have a side job). that's why I always push pre-orders so hard! you have to be a racehorse worth betting on, or else they send you to the glue factory....
if I can offer one alternative to pirating: asking your library to stock the book also helps authors, and doesn't cost anything. the only downside is the patience required.
OOPS yes, @stjohnstarling makes a good point! everything I'm saying is from the perspective of traditional publishing, but it's a very different game if you're a self-published author
I will also add that this is why pre-orders can make a HUGE difference to authors - because if there's enough hype, publishers can pull more levers to build that momentum and reach more readers to help authors earn out their advance faster.

Living Next Door To Aziraphale - Chapters 3 and 4 are up!
Two chapters again this week!
This time, you'll finally get Aziraphale's point of view and discover what, exactly, has been going on inside his overactive mind all these years.
Chapter 3 and 4
Don't know my little story yet? Here's a short summary:
Living Next Door To Aziraphale
For twenty-four years, Crowley has been living next door to Aziraphale. Twenty-four years of late-night conversations and second glasses of wine. Also twenty-four years of a secret so carefully maintained it became part of their lives.
Now Aziraphale is leaving for a village bookshop in the South Downs, and Crowley is helping pack up the life they've somehow built together – one box at a time.
Angel is a top-tier, golden-boy Field Agent at Beta-Watch, an organization that exists to repair the extensive damage — across time and reality — done by their predecessors, the “drafters.”
Crow is a bottom-rung employee, toiling away down in the Scrap department to create historically accurate garb for the Field Agents to wear while carrying out their missions.
When catastrophe strikes the agency, these two must band together to save not only Beta-Watch, but all of reality.

when your temper ignites (E, 666 words) - a good omens ficlet
Anger is not something us angels are encouraged, even permitted, to feel. Frustration, indignation, upset, confusion… These all skirt around the rim of acceptability. We can allow them into our work, into our lives, just about. But pure, unadulterated rage? The kind that alights deep within the pit of one’s belly, golden as Hellfire, and spills out as if it were destined to set the world ablaze? That, I have never come close to.
By contrast, you have fanned the flames of your undeniable anger with an intensity which only increases as our time on Earth stretches on. Where curiosity and a relaxed sort of stoicism seemed to dominate your will when we first arrived here, it now appears that your discontent with the way things are can no longer be contained. There is no emotion I have witnessed you express more strongly, no feeling you let yourself nurture more freely, than your fury.
It’s the reason why you stalk through Soho singed and smoke-shrouded, as if you were just struck by lightning (and, unbeknownst to the human passersby, you are the keeper of the lightning by which you have been struck). It’s the reason why you drive your car dozens of miles above the speed limit, refusing to slam the brakes even for pedestrians. It’s the reason why you snarl at your plants until they tremble, frightened anew into growing better.
It’s the reason why you usually storm out of the bookshop at the first sign of trouble between us; why you tend to bow out of our disagreements before they can peak, and therefore before they can dissolve. It’s the reason, I think, why you wait until you’re loose-limbed and hazy-eyed with drink before you beckon me over to your perch on the sofa beside my bureau, legs spread wide and belt already undone. Why you polish off a few glasses of wine before tugging down your tight jeans just enough to ease your length onto my tongue, breath hitching as your fingers glide through my hair without gaining purchase; why you only urge me to press into the flooded heat of your cunt after a particularly long afternoon at The Ritz, with a deep flush dusting your chest and a glimmer in your eye.
You must think you are doing me a kindness, in sustaining our intimacies not as an outlet but as something else entirely; a gentle thing, a thing painstakingly restrained. Meanwhile, I have been pondering the manner in which to reassure you that you need not restrain yourself on my account, that I can bear whatever it is you are so hesitant to unleash upon me. That you are truly beautiful when your temper ignites, and I would never attempt to dampen or shrink it; that I wish it was a sensation I had it in myself to nurture, too.
So long as you believe that you must cradle your anger with my presence removed from you, you deny me permission to do what would release me temporarily from the writhing labyrinths of my mind – that is to say, you deny me permission to feed off it. You deny me the pleasure of empathising with you, of being counsellor to you, and most of all, of being had by you, being taken with a fervour that needs not hide all that makes it covetous and fierce.
Please intuit the weight on my mind somehow; grant me the listening ear required to tell you that, when you let yourself feel, you let me feel, too. Allow me and my bookshop to be the one place in the universe where you do not starve yourself of your truest, most secret wants, where you can be as angry as it takes for you to keep going with Hell underneath you, Heaven above you and the Earth at your feet.
Your anger is the most human thing about you, and therefore the one thing She cannot understand. I implore you not to smother it.

thank you so much for reading! reblogs and comments are much appreciated<3 here's the ao3 link again hehe
this work is a gift for @voluptatiscausa! love you boo
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.
As expressed in this post, I’ve been feeling increasingly nostalgic for the characters of my reverse omens, double enemies to lovers, fake relationship Fae AU as of late, and I just checked the calendar and, lo and behold, today marks six months since I finished posting it!
So, happy six-month ficaversary to the story that started with a Greasy Johnson POV of all things and morphed into a fairy tale love story about breaking free from the shackles of prejudice and expectation to build a better, freer world that allows everyone to be true to themselves and their morals. It taught me so much about slowing down to and writing stories with more heart than plot, writing dialogue scenes that didn’t feel like a game of ping pong, and that characters really do shine when you let them lead you (albeit maybe a little too meanderingly) though their story.
This one was such hard work, but it’s truly become one I’m most proud of.
This is your semi frequent reminder that there is no official AO3 app
All those are unofficial and available on the Google play store as of August 13th 2025. They mirror AO3's content and insert ads, for which the developer gets paid by page impression (that's every time the ad appears in the fic you're reading) not just clicks.
No money goes to AO3, nor to the fic writer. It goes to the person who did the bare minimum.
Many of these apps have poorly worded or non existent privacy policies, so they may also be mining as much data as possible and selling that on to unknown third parties.
Please, just use the official AO3 site and the browser.
As a guy who does Cyber IT as a living PLEASE USE THE MAIN SITE ON THE BROWSER! Do not use unofficial apps. You are opening yourselves up to a multitude of cyber threats, especially when there is no privacy policy or agreements.
The site is mobile optimized, and you can download the fics as PDFs or epubs if you need to read offline like on a plane, there is no reason to use a third party app.
FINALLY, after more than 5 years of dreaming about it, I have made the thing I always wanted! After much hard work, a serendipitous gift, and much swearing at an inanimate machine, Astral Gravy and I are pleased to announce the creation of our Magnetic Ineffable Dress Up Dolls!
The initial set comes with 7 ineffable outfits and lots of cute accessories, as pictured, with plans for expansions in future. If you have ever wanted to dress Aziraphale and Crowley up on your fridge or liven up those metal bins in your cubicle at work, now you can!
Right now I am currently producing sets for TIC7, but because they are fairly time and material intensive supplies will be limited. The pricing will be £25 per character or £45 for both, and they will come packaged with a fun backing card. They’ll be first come first served at my booth, but if you don’t get your chance I’m also donating a full set of both to the online auction AND the in person raffle.
Now, for those of you who want one but won’t be able to for this first round, fear not. My plan is to produce many more in small batches and make those available for sale in the future. I will announce those batches in advance so hopefully everyone who wants one can get the chance to snag one. 😊
