that's not great. but it's not the whole story.
a few things got worse right before the vote too. the language that explicitly protected encryption, saying the bill couldn't be used to force platforms to weaken it, got quietly stripped out on Friday. that safeguard just doesn't exist anymore.
but this isn't over. it heads to the senate next, and the senate is genuinely not on board. blumenthal and cantwell, two of the senators who wrote the original KOSA, are saying they don't want this version near a markup. blackburn, a republican and the other original author, called the missing duty of care provision a red line.
worth being clear here, blackburn isn't on our side. she wants the policy stronger, not gone. but that's still a crack we can use. her opposition means the house version has zero guaranteed path through the senate as written, and a stalled bill is a bill that isn't law yet. use her objection, don't trust her motive.
senate commerce hasn't even scheduled a markup yet. that's the next pressure point. this thing has died or gotten majorly rewritten at this stage before.
contact your senators: find yours here. tell them you don't want the house version anywhere near a vote.
and remember, if you have to, contact your senators scared. anything helps.

sometimes i remind myself that its literally in the map of angband that mairon has a fucking desk and chair in the throne room. mairon runnin melkors finances over there while mel just pretends hes a badass and listens to orcs whine about the state of the war. the throne room of angband aint some hellhole with orcs smashing bottles and dragons setting shit on fire i mean ffs it’s just mairons office + melkor being extra and if that doesnt bring me so much joy
of course there’s no rowdy orcs or dragons, Mairon needs to be able to focus on paperwork while his husband sits on the throne and looks cool
What you need to understand about me- and what most of you all do understand about me, is that I will be aggressively enabling of living your weirdest, fullest truth, and I think it's bullshit that people act like it's detrimental to you to do so
I don't give a shit if me being a weird furry online loses me any job prospects or if people talk or whatever- maybe it's fucked up that we hold something as minor and meaningless as that over someone's head, that we give it weight it doesn't deserve, you ever thought of that? Maybe I see the culture of belittling a person as "cringe" for having interests counter to the norms as a failure of society, and I'm gonna throw myself onto the damn pyre and fight to my last breath against it, ever considered that?
I'm not just being cute and funny when I say "live your truth no matter how weird it is," because you know what?
If you're not hurting anyone in a real and tangible way, if you're respecting the rights and comfort of others, nobody- NOBODY has the moral grounds to stand against you, and to hell with them if they try.

the demon you commanded to go out and destroy your enemies and drag their souls to hell has returned. three hours elapsed, zero souls damned, one skinned knee. demon is visibly trying not to cry.
Given that much of Sauron’s character throughout the legendarium features him being very openly obsessed with his lord, (“Tidings enough from Thû there came/but short while since,” his temple to Morgoth in Númenor, “Grond” and his other naming conventions post-WoW, “adored,” “bereaved,” etc), I would like to propose that the seduction of Mairon was less “Evil Job Offer” or “Melkor making eyes at a cute forge Maia,” and more Mairon blatantly hitting on the local He Who Arises In Might while Aulë bluescreens in the doorway.

i wanted a custom gm screen for my symbaroum campaign, so i screwed some panels to some hinges & broke out the acrylic paint and clear glossy topcoat. obviously it's still in process (i want to add hands/tendrils reaching for âkalleth from the right side & wanna add an hourglass, his rings from murum & aza-lea, & more forget-me-nots on the left side), but i figured i'd share what i have so far & i'm tired of wrestling âkalleth's face for the night.
it's completely over-the-top, but hey. i'm obsessed with this game atm.

progress shot. blocking in âkalleth's hand and corruption's...tentacles? skeletal hands? it's represented by both throughout the campaign. may make the long tentacle a skeletal finger- same with the ones up top. i'll eventually blend in some black and deeper purples into the right side so it all flows better. this stage is freaking me out bc i'm painting on top of parts i liked, but at least i no longer want to completely change his lips. final stage may include some cracks in âkalleth's skin where corruption is touching him. as i told my friend who ran our game: "i like your campaign a normal amount."
