Hey Friends! I Have News!

Hey there! I realize it has been a little quiet around here. I’ve pivoted my focus to over at okretro.zone. It is my new push in media stuff. The Elegant Brave Sentai Podcast is coming back in a slightly different format as well as some new podcasts. I’ve been doing some live streams over at on Twitch under weareokretro. Also, we have a Youtube channel which currently houses stream archives but will soon have its own content popping up exploring nostalgia and pop culture goods. I hope you join us. 

We’ve been streaming a lot of Sea of Thieves, PUBG and will be checking out Apex Legends. Also I’m going to start going through some jams from the Nintendo 64. Come hang out. I’m excited to share it all with you.

Really Missing The EB Sentai

The holiday season has been a real dingus. I’m hoping once the new year stars we can get back to the our Super Sentai loving Tokusatsu enthusiast podcast, the Elegant Brave Sentai. Super Sentai is gooooood. And I want to watch more seasons...but Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger is calling to me something fierce!

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Ok. So I am an adult. Butttt I know there is a Super Smash Bros Ultimate chilling under my tiny tree for the holidays. I cannot waittttt. I know a bunch of people who are a tad...oh I don’t know...pissy about unlocking almost all of the characters. And I can’t help but be like Yooooo welcome aboard you dorks! It has been like this the whole time! Anyways, I’m kinda looking forward to the grind. But regardless I cannot wait to find my new main. And listening to all those jams on the soundtrack.

So Uhhhh Destiny 2

So I played Destiny 2 when it came out...and I started Curse of Osiris...and then I ran through one too many portals and got burnt out. I didn’t like 4v4 Crucible and item drops were lame which lead to the lack of dynamic gameplay when it came to multiplayer. But when Forsaken came out I jumped back in as soon as I heard from my friends that it was getting back to its roots. Some of the Crucible maps are still a little wonky with 6v6 but Gambit is fun as hell. I’m still leveling up to get my light up to 600 but I can’t wait until tomorrow and the launch of the Black Armory. 

Also! I’d like to say that Forsaken’s campaign is pretty rad too. I wish they would’ve have fleshed out the crazy barons a bit more because they were all cool fights. I just wish they got a bit more screen time. I’m not necessarily looking forward to leveling up my next guardian but by the time I get to Forsaken content...I’m gonna be into it.

Hitman 2

Sooooo dear friends. Hitman 2 is very good. It is just more of that good good Hitman action. The UI has been cleaned up a little bit and IO has really leaned into the absurdity of it all. It feels super good. And if you own Hitman it bundles those missions with the new ones in a lovely package. Happy Hunting 47.

By up and running...I mean I’ve been working on all sorts of new stuff that I’ll be sharing here. We are also bringing back the Elegant Brave Sentai podcast. Which will be great and rad. We are tying up some loose ends but I can’t wait to share with you. In the meantime and you’re feeling frisky follow our new stuff as we get ready to launch on twitter and instagram. Oh Hell Yessssss

We are getting up and running again. It has been a bonkers few months. How is everyone doing? So many games so little time. I was thinking about kind of back tracking and covering some stuff...but so much has happened...we are just moving forward friends. Feels so good to be back! Game on!

New Place. Slow Internet.

We are some what settled in our new place. I still wouldn’t say it is comfortable. But my god! the internet. I did a speed test and it is worst than abysmal. I downloaded No Man Sky...it took...well I’m actually not sure because I went to bed. but probably 12 hours give or take. But mannnnn. I’ve been playing Breath of the Wild again cause it’s just there. But I didn’t know waiting for the internet could be so exhausting...and I grew up in the 90s! With dial up!

My Nostalgia Is Something Fierce

We are still in the process of moving. We are in our new place but our life is suspended around a bunch of boxes. So it is just the discomfort of a new place that hasn’t been settled in. I’m not sure when we will be settled...

But I keep gravitating to games I haven’t played in years or Skyrim. I just want something I can wander in, and feel like I have a bit of control over the situation...But remember the Legend of Dragoon? That sounds like a good idea. I also want to watch a bunch of old 80s and 90s cartoons...But until then, I’m gonna keep sleeping. I feel like I can’t get enough rest.

Also surprise surprise...I’m still playing Breath of the Wild.

Octopath Traveler

I’ve been looking for a JRPG for the Switch and here comes Octopath Traveler and I’m down. I’ve been in the process of moving and now unpacking and JRPG sounds like the perfect remedy to feel like I have control over something.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker Is Out On Switch

I absolutely loved this game on the Wii U and have been waiting for its return to the Switch so I can share my enthusiasm with even more people. It is a pretty fun puzzler and the annoying blowing on the screen has been replaced with different platforms and I can get behind that.

Sekiro

I’m so excited for this. I know a Tenchu game isn’t probable but this looks like something approximate to what I want and need. It has some paranormal jazz, a grappling hook/arm, and feudal Japan vibes. Also...Shadows Die Twice? Isn’t that something that RIkimaru says? I can’t remember...I should go back and play some Tenchu...

Moving...

I’m moving across town so I’ve packed up all of my things...which is a real bummer cause as I’m sitting her early Saturday morning I could be playing video games but they are either packed up or already at the new place. But as soon as I get settled again there, it’ll be popping off here again.

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red knows how to build worlds and tell stories, and I very much want to be apart of Cyberpunk 2077. It is my aesthetic on steroids. Bring me more synthwave.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Here is the chunk of their E3 show about Smash. I’m excited but it didn’t explode my pants off. I’ll definitely play it and I’m glad Snake is back. Inkling and Ridley aren’t pulls for me, but Smash itself is enough for me. I am excited for all the stage variants.

I’ve recently gotten into exploring Rom hacks. This one looks bonkers too. I may try this one out too. But I think we’ve all thought about this cross over somehow.

Destiny 2 Forsaken

Above is the story trailer for the Forsaken expansion coming out this fall. I’m excited to explore the reef, and go after the douchebag prince. Also Gambit mode looks pretty rad. PvP and PvE hybrid seems rad. Below is a video of Bungie talking about their grand plans, also they talk about how they are going to change possible load outs and putting fun back into the game and random drops. I loved Destiny and hoping Forsaken is a hybridized experience that breathes new life into Destiny for me. Oh and bows are being added.
