Ā Ā Ā The quiet of the room encases the two of them, sitting side-by-side in such a fashion not to bring unwarranted attention to themselves. The small talk ceases very shortly into Togamiās visit, however long it will be; fortunately for him, Cardia bought food only days before chaos struck, even if she has no necessity in the purchase or preparation of meals, she feels the habit of it keeps her on routine, keeps her normal.
Ā Ā Ā Occasionally looking up despite the silence, she looks to the young man sheās befriended, who she never expected would be wrapped around in one of her blankets, his honey-like hair still wet and his clothes, hanging to dry, in the same fashion. Sheās admittedly embarrassed to see him like this, although one glance at him upon arrival, and that was by far worse without argument. He is frustrated with the situation, sheās sure of that much; the best Cardia could provide is wordless support.Ā
Ā Ā Ā He looks from her to his phone from time to time, and then one telling glance and he stands, fuzzy blanket and all, to exit the room. She gave her approval already, and the doll-like girl awaits the arrival of a third person who will wait through the madness in House 159. Her curiosity is hard to contain, blue eyes watch from the hallway - she followed him, a bit further behind - as a boy about Byakuyaās own age enters the house. Without scar or mar, at that. The same was the case for the girl he is friends with too; how all of his friends are faring well even in this situation, not a clue. If they are anything like her own friends - the very ones she left behind - who are strong, talented, agile, brilliant beyond belief⦠then he is in safe hands.
Ā Ā Ā After a few moments, the girl finally appears from around the corner, observing their interaction. Togamiās concern is real, even if itās displayed in a most indirect fashion. She smiles inwardly, without realizing it; upon first impression, one would gather heās an icy, impersonal individual, although heās far from it. He isnāt much different than Cardia, in more ways than one. Speaking up finally, the brunette realized she needed to speak, rather than looking strange at the two of them reuniting.āYouāre⦠Togamiās friend?Ā I hope youāre okay, it looks⦠awful out there. Itās been safe, you should be fine here if you want to wait it out with us. Iām Cardia, by the way. Oh, Togami, I could make something for you both to eat too if you want, Iām sure youāre both hungry.ā
āYouād better, and you have five minutes to do it.ā Heās only half joking; his focus and subsequent annoyance is at Amamiās recklessness, and the addressing of Cardia as your friendĀ flies right over his head. Or perhaps it doesnāt ā perhaps he actually feels comfortable enough to refer to her as a friend, to not deny his affection for her. Itās a strange sensation, and again he feels that jolt he had felt only minutes earlier, the cracking of his icy facade. āOf course, sheās just āāĀ
Heās cut off by said girl entering the foyer, saving him quite a bit of hassle. Awkwardly pulling the blanket up a bit more around his shoulders to preserve some sense of dignity he faces her, a small, sheepish smile creeping onto his lips, vanishing as quickly as it had come. āAh, there you are. Amami, this is Cardia Beckford; Cardia, this is Rantaro Amami. I assume you two will get along well; unfortunately, I donāt believe my other friend will be joining us any time soon.āĀ
With that, his thoughts turn back to Mukuro, who vanished into the night; the only texts heās received have been from Amami, and as such he has no idea where she is or how she might be doing. But as much as heād like to text her and ask, to see if she would want to come back here, he knows better than to; while they were certainly close she was a lone wolf, more than just the tattoo on her hand. Mukuro would return when she wanted to, if she even did; this certainly wouldnāt be the last he would hear from her, for he would make sure of that. Untrusting by his very nature, he would put his trust in her ā for she was one of the few people he truly could.
Cardiaās words bring him back to House 159, away from a bloodied hellscape. Heās not hungry, but he wouldnāt want to deny Amami food ā not because he is a guest, but because a normalĀ person would probably be famished after running across the city in a zombie apocalypse.Ā āAs long as we can keep it quiet. I donāt want to risk any of thoseā¦thingsĀ bursting in here; Iāve made enough of a mess already.ā Really, he doesnāt want any of them to be injured, as they were practically defenselessā¦but it wasnāt as though he could just come out and say that, now, could he?Ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā The laugh that escapes his lips is, in true fashion, both exhausted and amused. āAlright. Thatās fair.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Rantaro was exhausted from his run, barely able to catch his breath since arriving, but if you think that would stop him from explaining himself, you were mistaken. Heād made the other worry, and that much was⦠becoming more obvious to him. He knew from the otherās messages that heād put the other on pins and needles, the least he could do was explainā¦
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā⦠I needed to leave where I was at, because I was being⦠hunted. By myself.ā Rantaro explains, frowning a little at Togami as he did. He felt⦠guilty for not telling him prior that heād died, but? This was as good a time as any, it seemed. It was the only way he could explain why heād needed to risk his neck in that fray outside. āI⦠I felt him, before I saw him. But, when I slipped out of my house, I know⦠I know I saw him. I saw⦠my old body. I recognize⦠I recognized that injury. Iāll⦠Iāll explain everything. I promise. But, is that at least adequate for now?ā His pale jade eyes screamed guilt, but⦠heād explain more if asked. However, for now? Having just run several wards over, and in front of someone he didnāt know? Didnāt seem like⦠the appropriate time to unload all of his burdens on the other.
Ā Ā Ā Ā However, it was with that he shifted his attention a little. Allowing the both to speak⦠Cardia, sheād introduced herself as. Cardia Beckford, Togami had made sure to fill in. He smiles ā waving at the other in a friendly manner. Looking somewhat sheepish himself now. After all: He felt⦠silly to unload that sort of information in front of a strangerā¦
Ā Ā Ā Ā With a cough, however... he switches tone. Always a master of his expressions and tone of conversation, he wanted to greet the other happily. After all: He was excited to me a friend of his friend.
Ā Ā Ā āPleased to meet you Cardia. Please, feel free to call me Rantaro.ā He starts, āIām really⦠grateful you let me come here. Thank you.ā Rantaro greets warmly, smiling at her now. He was truly grateful that he was welcome here. Grateful that his friend Togami had been safe here and with someone else⦠that he wasnāt alone in all of this. āIt was a bit of a crazy rush to get here⦠but, luckily? Iāve always had great reaction time to things. I was able to get through with just a few scratches.ā Mostly dust-covered and a little scratched up from the ground, not the monsters⦠āThough⦠Since Togami doesnāt seem against it, I know I wouldnāt argue against some food. Sorry to put you through the trouble, though. Especially since I just met you.ā He laughs, quietly. āGeez, I must seem like a needy sort. Remind me to repay the favor when this is all through, ākay?ā
