Neathbow RP Opening!

It’s the 1890’s, and you’ve just been stolen by bats. Wherever you were, whatever state you were in, it was fast, and confusing. It was black as night and there was not a spark of light until your eyes opened and you could see cavern lights glimmering above you. The last of the bats flit away and you’re left standing in a quarter of the underground city, with only your clothes and what you hold left to your name.

Traditional entry to the Fifth City usually involves getting thrown in prison. It’s a bit of a rite of passage for those not born here. Some unlucky fellows may end up that way yet! The constables saw the bats and they’re looking at you funny. Strange newcomers often get mishandled at first. Can’t be too sure with all the crime around here y'know? But worry not as the prison in the stalactite above has some…interesting holes in its security.

Worry more about the brief searing touch of the Echo Bazaar on your mind, body, and soul. Worry more about something shining distant on the horizon, and the dark waters close at hand. Worry about how you got here, as well as what even is here…

And perhaps worry about the weird book in your pocket that’s writing in itself.

“Are you positive, sir? Is there anything I could possibly do to repay you for startling you as I did?” His speech… It was a bit formal when comparing it to the stranger he was speaking to. Brows knitted together with a face full of concern, Sanada finds himself beginning to loosen up when the cat was beginning to become the main topic. 

 A smile appearing once again, he nods. “Yes! Once I began to work here, he had approached me with no trouble at all. I thought, perhaps, I could take him out for strolls with me whenever I had to step out to possibly get things for the store– Oh! Let me scan that in for you.” Slowly, he places out a hand and awaits for the shampoo to be handed over.

Amon stared at the shampoo bottle in his hand, it took him a while to process what’s going on. When he did, he sheepishly placed the shampoo bottle on the counter and slinked back to the aisles. 

"Excuse me." 

A few clinks and shuffling later, he came back to Yukimura with a basket full of coffee jars. "Sorry about that. Been spacing out lately."

Admittedly, Sanada felt himself jolt in place once hearing the thud of the shampoo bottle that had now fallen to the ground. Blinking several times with his mouth left agape, he immediately takes his eyes up to the… much taller man with an apologetic expression. 

 “I-I am very sorry, sir!” Several bows were being presented. Sanada should really learn to not speak so loudly– Not everyone is filled with infinite energy like him.

Quickly interrupting himself, he swiftly turns his head on over to the cat that was being spoken about. “Chunkie-dono! He is usually prancing around rather than resting. He must be exhausted after his daily walk…” A rub at the nape of his neck.

"It's fine, no harm done." He picked up the bottle then went back to the cat. Chunkie, as the cat was called, was true to his name. He looked like a certain cat he knew back home but it was definitely more heavy set and even when it's sleeping, you could tell that it's the more friendlier cat.

"That's a unique name." He reached over then lightly pressed on the cat's tongue with a finger, which then retracted back into the sleeping cat's mouth. "Normally cats laze around at home, this is the first time I've heard a cat having daily walks."

There was plenty of customers in today– Or, at least in the morning! Nothing that Sanada couldn’t handle, of course! Being the cashier, it was always pretty exciting for him. Never did such a thing like this before! He still doesn’t even know how to properly open the cash register… 

No messing around! With a loud slap to the face with both of his hands over his cheek, he notices a customer approaching and Sanada finds himself immediately smiling. Plus, it was rather late in the day– It was nighttime, to be more specific. Hardly anyone came by around this time! 

“HELLO! May I help you with anything today, sir?!” That was maybe a bit too loud…

Getting off work at like 2am didn’t really suit well for others, Amon was no exception to that but since his profession didn’t really align in the more “traditional” sense, he didn’t much complain. But his body seemed to show the effects of this, as he’d walked into a convenience store half asleep, his eyes struggling to stay open and the bottle in his hand almost slipping between them.

The loud booming voice was his much needed alarm and it startled him so much that he dropped the bottle of shampoo and made the hidden bodega cat fart out of fear. 

"Ah." Was his only response to both the man behind the counter and the cat who seemed to have fallen back to sleep. "Nice...kitty."

          “ Huh? You wanna pay for me? “

           “ Oh, gosh, you don’t have to, mister! “ Ruby is already taking out her wallet– she’s not ready to be treated by anyone but her sister at the moment. She’s even more of an adult than she used to be, she swears. The girl only drinks milk when she’s having sweets now. It’s character development! “ I don’t need anything much; it’s just a little break! You can use the cash for your own meal! I don’t wanna impose. “

“It’s fine, really.” The bag was already in her hands and the money was already in the cashier’s, paying for the girl’s cookies and his coffee. He wore a glove to hide his grotesque hand to at least look ‘normal’, to give himself this false facade of being ‘normal’ again.

“I used to eat a lot of pastries before, but can’t now after a surgery.” Well, he wasn’t lying, so that guilt in his chest wasn’t too painful. “So I just buy them for whoever wants them, to compensate for myself in a way.

Kaneki was barely able to make out anything about this new environment. From a cell, from a whorl of memory and fabrication, from the darkness of his healing-not-healing eyes, from the number 240, that didn’t come from 1000, 993, 986, 979, 972,

He was 240, but he was someone else too, wasn’t he? It was coming back to him, now that he could see, now that his hands were his own, chipped black nails whose color wasn’t painted on scratching at his palms without him thinking about it.

His name was Kaneki Ken, Eyepatch, Centipede, he was prisoner 240, and he was so, so, hungry.

He was half mad with it, and everyone around him was foodpersonfood but then he barely registered crisis and the hunger overcame the fear of harming someone, and he ventured outside.

But there, he could wreak havoc. He had been weak with hunger, but there were bodies everywhere, bodies meant to be defeated, mindless, animated by magic, so he could eat, right? He didn’t want to eat he devoured them, kagune whipping about wildly, eliminating the enemies while they continued to pose no threat to him, and even less threat as time went on. For the first time in daysweeksmonths, he felt strong.

He didn’t notice when his kagune began to change, when a mask descended half over his face and a centipede’s tail whipped around behind him. Everything was his own hunger, his own strength, and moving targets to c o n s u m e

but something had stopped his kagune, and was he not merely imagining the trembling of the ground beneath his feet? And was there… someone there?

Amon picked up a familiar scent that sent alarm bells in his head ringing. He could have convinced himself that he was just hallucinating, that the smell of rotting flesh had gotten to his head, but his instincts, both as a ghoul and an investigator, had him immediately running towards the source.

Panicked people met him as he arrived at the scene, bumping into him like he was nothing as they were focused into running away. It wasn’t those mindless corpses that they were afraid of, but something greater, even more dangerous. 

He could see some residents fighting with their magic, something unheard of from his universe, but they were only overpowered by he sheer strength of this monster’s tendril.

A kagune.

Amon rushed into the fight, and parried an incoming kagune strike with his mutated arm. It was a sense of morbid nostalgia to be reminded of just how strong the other was, so strong that not even magic could hinder a ghoul’s rampage. 

“Everybody leave!” His voice boomed before ukaku shards came flying down onto the battlefield, separating him and Kaneki from the residents. As he held him back, he manifested Doujima from parts of his kagune and used it to further distance the other from any civilian. 

“Eyepatch, I can’t let you through.” With those words and Doujima held tightly in his hand, it was like that time back then. Many feelings filled Amon as he stood across Kaneki yet again in another battlefield, but one that stood out the most was his determination to change fate’s course, to not let this happen again, and create an outcome that was favorable for the both of them.

“Your opponent is me!”

That answer coaxed a relieved sigh from Yang. It was worth it, even if she overexerted herself, she did kill a ridiculous amount of zombies in so little time and helped saving those children. Yang insists on reassuring herself that it’s normal for her Aura to be so low. It’s definitely not because she’s been dormant for a while. Nope.

Amon’s statement made her eyes follow to where motorcycle is. Oh.

“Oh… M-My… my sweet Bumblebee…” are those tears? Whatever, she dried them with the back of her hand before glaring at him. “Sorry? You’re sorry? Buddy, pal, friend…” her grip on his shoulder is firm. “You’re paying for it, gotcha?”

But more importantly…

“I’ve never seen a semblance like yours before. You really gotta practice your aim. It sucks.”

His eye met hers, wait, we’rent they purple before? It reminded him of his own, except that his was surrounded by a black sclera, which was very freaky if you look at it up close. That’s why he’d been making an effort to keeping it closed.

The grip didn’t really do much to get a reaction from Amon, but it has her demeanor that got his attention.

“Of course, I’ll even help you carry it somewhere safe.”

 He didn’t want to sound too confident but he really does have some money to spare, considering that he doesn’t need to set aside money for food, not to mention some of his contractors had been fairly generous to him. 

“Semblance? Sorry, but I don’t know what that is.”

Yang held them back just like promised, making sure to give this man ( man? Oh well, whatever he is ) enough time to escape with the children. But good god there’s only so much she can do on her own as those walking gores kept coming, probably drawn by Ember Celica’s shots. But that didn’t stop her from fighting with her aura once she ran out of ammo. Fuck, this is not looking good. She needs a escape route, she needs–

More shards, great. She dodged them and glared over her shoulder, eyes of a bright red before resuming to the task in hand.

“Man, you’re not really a sharpest shooter, are you?” that’s rhetorical once it’s obvious that he’s not. She wasted no time in getting rid of the remaining zombies. Sweat coated her brows, dripping down her chin with every punch. She’s exhausted, but at least it’s over.

Yang rested her back against the nearest wall and slowly descended until she was sitting. She shouldn’t be this tired, but it’s been a long time since she last made this much effort. Just a few seconds and she’d be good.

“Hey… Thanks.” oh, she’s smiling. “Did you get them to a safe place?”

"Yeah, there's a safe house down the road. Folks were kind enough to let more people in." 

Amon looked like he could still run a mile whilst fighting zombies, but that was a good thing considering what would happen if he let his fuel run out. He let himself rest against the wall beside the girl, letting his eyes just look over the mess they've made, until his gaze led him to the busted up bike with his ukaku shard still embedded in the tire. A pang of guilt struck him right in the chest and it made him feel a bit sheepish.

"Sorry about your bike." He said with the most apologetic look he could make.

What’s that about being stealthy in dangerous situations? Yang’s never heard of that obviously with how loud bumblebee’s engine revved in these trying times of chaos. You gotta get to places, and as fast as possible, helping along the way is an option and that’s exactly what she’s got in mind as she raced toward a nearby commotion.

Or would if a shard rain hadn’t hit her motorcycle.

“Crap!” 

Yang immediately lost control of it when a shard pierced through the front tire, and only had time to jump out before it hit a hydrant. Oh  my sweet bumblebee, Yang lamented while getting up, the minor wounds from her fall healing up instantly thanks to her Aura. She’d mourn for the bike a little longer if it weren’t for the sound of children screaming. Maybe later, because right now she has got to punch her way through life. Literally. The life are the zombies, and she’s knocking them deader.

“You! Hurry up and get them out. Now!!”

It didn’t take Amon a second take to gather all of the kids in his arms and just bolt from the scene, leaving the girl to tend to the zombies. What? She seemed capable enough to fight them, have you seen just how she plowed through that horde? Anyways, as soon as Amon reached a shelter and dropped off the kids, he rushed back to back up the blondie.

His re-entry into the battle came with another barrage of Ukaku shards, a bit more controlled but was still spread out. It pinned down the remaining zombies but also *almost* hit the girl he was supposed to help.

“Sorry!”

          {☻} —; From the shadows was Sombra—and from deeper within, zombies apparently. Having just gotten a mere grasp on her surroundings, radio broadcasts declared a zombie apocalypse. You’d think between getting chased by one of the strongest women in Russia, as well as being spirited away from her world, that she’d at least get some semblance of a break.

          {☻} —; This was a good opportunity though. With the city being torn asunder by the undead, she’d be able to get a bearing on the surroundings. What was that man’s name? Asphodel? Surely he was one of the people in charge here. If she could datamine personal files about him, she was sure she could arrange a friendship with him.

          {☻} —; She soon took action, running along the streets. It didn’t seem like anyone was in prudent danger. From what she observed, the people here were strong. That only made it more necessary for her to avoid unnecessary conflict. Speaking of, however, it seemed someone had the desire to play heroics. Fighting off fiends so that the innocent will be safe? Well it was working, but there were just too many of these walking dead around. It’s not like she cared, but perhaps it would benefit her to ally with someone strong.

          {☻} —; She tosses her translocator behind her, jumping into the fray. With a neon flash she came into view, her thermoptic camouflage dissipating before the sound of gunshots were heard. A few seconds, that’s all it took. These things weren’t especially strong, but she did lessen the burden on the man’s hand. So she decides by herself anyways.

           {☻} —; “Aw, las cosas pobres—a shame that they’ve come back only to fall again, no? You should watch your back, friend. It’s dangerous to fight alone you know.” she snickers. “Or maybe you didn’t need any help? It’s your call.”

Amon was surprised with the sudden appearance of this person who seemed to be neither friend nor foe, despite her introduction.

“I appreciate the help.” It came out more bitter than he intended to but it was only because he’s a bit winded, a little stressed, but not hungry, which was the true victory here.

“You seem to be enjoying this mess.” It was a little pet peeve for him when people didn’t take dangerous events like this seriously, especially during work. But he isn’t an investigator anymore, what a sad reminder. Speaking of pets, Amon picked up something that was in between his feet the whole time. A small Pomeranian barked happily as it’s lifted, it’s white fur stained with dirt and mud, much like Amon’s cloak.

“I need to get this guy somewhere safe or find its owner.”

回 = patching a wound

Jesse sits, pouting, arms crossed and sleeve rolled up to the shoulder as Amon tends to a particularly nasty wound on his bicep. The both of them did freelance, dirty work to make ends meet. For Jesse, this usually meant snooping, or playing bodyguard. Things didn’t always break out in a fight like it had tonight, but it definitely wasn’t uncommon. But for this job, they had to work together. And the job was done. The guy they’d been tailing was caught, and all was well.

     “Y’know it’s really not that bad. What’s a little dagger to the arm? I’ve had worse. It’s really fi- fi- OW!”

Jesse winces as Amon applies the disinfectant to the slash in his arm. Embarrassed, he quickly tries to cover up, changing the subject.

     “Anyway… Thanks for helpin’ me with this job. We make a pretty good team, you and I.”

But of course! Libra is considered by others to be quite eccentric, and so a lot of actions he takes part in can be considered quite silly. Probably the stupidest thing he’s ever done is try to befriend a mole. He just wanted to learn to breach the barrier between speeches to understand another Shepherd.

➢ At this, point, Jesse had sort of gotten used to working alone. It had been some time since Blackwatch was disbanded, and since then, it just didn’t feel right to work with anyone else. But here in Septaneus, he was at a disadvantage. Everyone and their grandma had crazy magic powers, which meant Jesse really had to be handy with his pistol to keep up. He’d been picking up jobs here and there. Playing bodyguard for elected officials, spying on adulterers for their suspicious spouses, and of course there was the time that family tried to hire him for some kid’s birthday party.

➢ The point was that things were getting boring. He missed being in the line of fire. He missed the action and excitement and danger of it all. So when that emergency system went off, Jesse was locked, loaded, and ready to go in a matter of seconds. He didn’t even mind that when he showed up to do tasks for the city, that they paired him with some angry looking fella. He approached the guy, holding out a hand to shake.

     “Pleasure to make your acquaintance. The name’s McCree. Looks like we’ll be workin’ together on this one.”

➢ Jesse paused for a moment, looking over the list the city officials had given him. He glances back up to Amon, smiling a little.

     “Looks more like a grocery list than a mission briefing. First stop is gonna be the post office. You ready?”

Amon shared the same sentiments as Mccree, he missed having constant work but it wasn't because that he loved the thrill of it, he missed being useful to others and being able to serve the public. It also proved to be a great distraction for him and he couldn't need it more than now, especially when there's this impending hunger he had to face in the future.

After sharing introductions (Amon was reluctant to shake the other's hand but did it anyways), he studied the map they were provided along with the list.

"Seems that they provided a route for us, but I can sense that you aren't the type to follow a set path." Still, he kept the map on his person.

A blade formed in his hand as he walked towards the exit, picking up the smell of rotting flesh just behind the door.

"Company's already here, please cover me." He bulldozed his way through the horde right as he opened the door,  hacking and slashing every zombie that came within his range, creating a path for McCree to work with. It wasn't clean but he's assuming that the cowboy could improvise.

Children clung tightly onto Amon’s cloak as this brute of a man slashed his way through the horde of zombies. He held them close to him as much as he could but this balance act proved to be a challenge. The zombies were generally easy to fight, but the sheer amount of them could very well overwhelm someone. 

In an effort to end this quickly, he shielded the children and fired his ukaku shards at the horde, cutting through their numbers much faster. Since it was an area attack, there may have been some collateral damage, but he hoped it was nothing major.

Shards of crystal-like projectiles lined up and formed a 3 meter tall wall, between the living and the undead, creating a sort of barrier to hold off this incoming horde. A cloaked figure then dropped on top of this wall and surveyed the situation, kicking off a few zombies who dare tried to climb up. A zombie did manage to climb up to this man and bit him, so the man did what you’d expect someone to, and bit a chunk of the zombie’s head off.

"Gross.” He spat. The zombie was then flung backwards, rolling over to this unsuspecting man who was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
