Isshin shrugged. “You may not have any special abilities but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be great anyway right? I mean look at me I barely ever use my abilities because I generally don’t need to.” He was going to leave out the fact that he hadn’t needed to use any abilities in the past twenty years or so but he didn’t need to really know that right now.
He put his hand on his shoulder. “Cang listen, it doesn’t matter if you have experience or not. I was in the same place that you were once. It’ll be hard when we start, and be warned I’m not going to be soft on you when I train you , but you cannot under no circumstances be discouraged or quit.” He didn’t think that Cang would quit just because things got hard for him but he could never be too sure.
Isshin’s eyes widened. “Well you shouldn’t need to defend yourself against any comrades because well they’re your comrades. Why on earth would you need to anyway?”
He froze and grrabbed Cang’s shoulders. “This, me training you, this won’t get you into trouble with the other quincies will it? Because if it will, are you comfortable with the fact that you, me or one of your friends could die if things get out of hand if any of them found out?” Isshin was very serious. From what he’d heard about the newly arrived quincies they were not a forgiving people, especially when it came to shinigamis. He slowly released his firm grip from his shoulders. “I just don’t want anything to happen to you because of what I am.”
Cang's eyes widened, surprised at his comments. To not need to use your powers? It was a novel idea and one which was completely foreign to the Quincy. Even if they didn't have to fight. Even if there wasn't a war raging on. He wasn't sure if he'd know what to do. Loyalty was perhaps one of his strongest traits. As so, while the dark haired Quincy wasn't sure their side was right, he wouldn't turn against his majesty.
The corners of his lips turned up, the smile crooked as the action tugged on his scar. He was thankful that the elder wouldn't go easy on him, and though his mind wanted him to comment, his brain worrying over the little issue of his strength. A couple of nervous bites and twists of his lip before he finally spoke, "I presume you are planning to take into account that my body isn't conditioned to hold a sword?" It was going to hurt...even disregarding any blows he took...it was going to burn his muscles. "Or even a real weapon."
Cang looked away as the elder grabbed his shoulders, "...it-" he stopped as the elder continued, Cang swallowing before looking up at the other's face. "It will be fine." He said simply. He didn't plan to admit that Isshin had a point. Though there was a chance that the others would understand, Giselle would, and Bazz-B...well Cang could probably claim that he was trying to recruit which would solve that one. It was Meninas, perhaps in her own way the most unforgiving, not to forget that she terrified him just a bit. Cang suspect that they'd take their rage out on him. Isshin should be fine.
"When do you want to begin?"
