*sitting in my rocking chair* when I was a youngān, basic feminism had determined that calling people masculinized terms like ādudeā by default as the āneutralā was a bad thing and anti-feminist because it centered masculinity as the default.
Nowadays even half the people that try to call themselves āfeministsā will get in a tizzy if you tell them that. And for what? Because you REALLY want to be able to misgender trans women? Disgustingly misogynist.
i understand (on paper) why companies are anti-piracy but its funny when random individuals are also strongly anti-piracy. like how does it negatively affect your life if someone you know downloads a cracked torrent of sims 4. you dont work for EA. EA isnt gonna pay you for this. you lose nothing. its fine. chill out.

No one doing this should be allowed to call themselves a feminist.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Let's not beat around the bush: Children's author JK Rowling sexually harassed someone. In some jurisdictions, this would count as sexual abuse. JK Rowling has committed a sex crime against a woman and fell back on the old rape apologist standby of "she was asking for it".
I hope your nostalgia is worth it
if you as a man cannot relate to female characters, you are a misogynist
random artist on instagram: posts about how not having their nails done makes them feel like a larva
me: posts it to my story with the caption "the misogyny got her"
three girls immediately in my dms: the only reason i feel unhappy when i don't have nails is because i spent a lot of effort/time/money on them
seeing news about the fallout remaster announcement feels like cruel irony to me
microsoft games are a bds boycott target, and because both bethesda + obsidian are owned by microsoft, this includes the games published by them.
microsoft is gonna further profit from a new virtual playground of ~post-apocalyptic bombed out towns in the desert~ while contributing to creating bombed out apocalyptic conditions in gazan towns, by collaborating with israel on so many fronts that bds calls microsoft the most complicit company in palestinian genocide.
and nostalgia-baited fans will still buy it bc playing pretend in a virtual world thats a knockoff of what real life people are currently facing ā a virtual world funded by that very suffering of those real life people ā is more important to them than simply playing a different game
anyway, to make this rant productive ā if you have the means to send donations to palestine, heres some community initiatives:
Monaās community aid initiative ā verified by el-shab-hussein
The Sameer Project ā has a british partner org, so UK folks can donate with gift aid here with no transfer fees
Revive Gaza Farmlands ā has a canadian partner org, so canadians can donate via direct bank transfers with no transfer fee
Crips for eSims for Gaza ā canda-based, so canadian e-transfers saves on transaction fees
I'm just going to say it - body hair (and beauty standards in general) is truly one of the final frontiers of women's issues in the West. Too many women just love their gilded cage too much. It shocks me how virulently women will defend it. I barely open my mouth and the "well I like how it feels. it just makes me feel cleaner. sensory issues. I do it for me. feminism is about choosing (to conform)." brigade come rushing in by the dozens.
Well I don't like how it feels. I don't feel cleaner without body hair. I don't prefer not having body hair. But who will advocate for women like me, but me? For women who do like hair removal, they are advocated for every time they step out of the house and see 99% of the female population also conforming to that standard, or when they watch a movie and see all the shaved actresses, or view an advertisment, or open a magazine, or watch a music video, or scroll through social media, or walk down the streets without receiving insults and glares for having a completely normal bodily feature.
You genuinely can't even point out that hairlessness is a man-made standard without women losing their shit and acting like they are totally immune to propaganda they've been exposed to from birth. I'm so tired.

I get in theory why people complain about het ships or whatever, I get wanting to watch queer media I really do, but I guess where yāall lose me is like. I saw some asshole on a post about Sinners complaining it was āhetslopāāthis person was specifically doing so while also claiming Remmick was a queer character and thus they were justified in caring more about him than the Black protagonists. which is a whole other disgusting can of worms that has been well addressed by others at this point. but even in the absence of that part of the argument, like, no, i actually donāt think that a hunger for queer stories is an especially good excuse to deride and dismiss a piece of landmark Black filmmaking, especially as a non-Black person. I have a post thatās been going around encouraging folks to engage with more Native stories and characters, and I had someone come onto that post saying in the tags that theyād need these stories to be queer in order to care. and I just think that, you know, sucks! like obviously as a queer Native I also want to see more of those stories too. but idk how else to put it other than to say that Black people and people of color shouldnāt have to be like you in order for you to care about our narratives and experiences. and I think some of yāall are using this disdain for heterosexuality as a cover for your unexamined racial biases. itās not okay to be racist to people just because those people happen to be straight, and you continue to be white before you are queer.
on an even more basic level than that, also, I simply just think some of yāall NEED to learn how to interact with media and storytelling without ships and fandom in mind. like if not being able to write fic about two men kissing is genuinely going to be a dealbreaker for you I think thatās actually something you need to work on within yourself because at that point I think youāre no longer really interacting with art and themes and narrative so much as just kind of playing with toys. which is, like, fine I guess. have fun. but it wouldnāt kill you to disengage from that from time to time. especially if would allow you to actually appreciate rich and deeply moving cultural stories from communities of color that you desperately need to learn how to see as human
