On the morning of April 7, 2026, a fire was started at the Kimberly-Clark Distribution Center in Ontario, California. It escalated to a six-alarm fire and took nearly twelve hours to extinguish. The facility was completely destroyed and declared a "total loss". There were no injuries or deaths. An employee who was working in the warehouse is accused of arson.
Authorities stated that the employee had shared videos of himself starting the fire on Facebook, saying "all you had to do was pay us enough to live" and "there goes your inventory" while lighting pallets of toilet paper ablaze.

No injuries. No deaths. This was a protest fire. This is why unions are important, to prevent frustrations like these, to ensure people are paid enough to live.

It gets more wild when you realize that the entire massive facility was crewed by a tiny skeleton crew under-paid to care for the whole place all the time
Literally a decent fire suppression, a larger crew, and/or a less tired crew would have stopped the fire from being an issue.
They werent just underpaying them, they were stretching them super thin in a building that I strongly theorize did not have up-to-code fire suppression. And if the fire system wasnt up-to-code, that place was definitely an OSHA nightmare.

hi everyone, i'm an autistic transfem who has been living on and off in backpacker hostels for the past few years and i also had to get off HRT a few months ago and that isn't fun at all because i literally have more pressing health problems. i had to leave my cats at the pound (they're fine they got adopted by a vet but i'm not).
ive been planning an escape route for like. a year now. and i need a ton of money to pull it off.
by a ton i mean like $1000 is doable and $3000 is comfortable so just shovel money at me for the next few months so that in august or so i can get this done and then i will have irl community and healthcare.
i have occasional gigs as a sensitivity reader and that plus solid support from a very small handful of close friends (who are impoverished themselves) is keeping me housed by some definition of that term but i really need to up my game so i'm not just sitting here aging and dying in severe isolation. ive basically been in solitary confinement for like three years it fucking sucks
