The choice to write Gerry as a character foil to Adam in that they were both created to bring happiness, but Adam can only ever bring fear while Gerry has no choice but to make people happy, is so so interesting. Adam being the result of the capitalist hunt for profit at any cost vs Gerry as a result of how far academia will go is such a good way to discuss those topics. I am very interested in how Jonny and Alex will continue to write Gerry and Adam’s narratives going forward.

The direction on Gertrude in episode 53 of The Magnus Protocol was really offputting (/pos).

In different places the words of the script seemed to be calling back to both the sweet old grandma persona and the sharp, ruthless old bitch (laudatory) from TMA, but throughout the whole of tmagp 53 she just sounded... depressed. Like what she was saying didn't matter to her — even as she was telling us how much Gerry matters to her, how she's killed before and will kill again. She sounded more like Augustus than she did like herself.

I think Gerry has done something to her. Is doing something to her.

For as much as Gwen Bouchard is built up as a failboss with how she constantly and for petty reasons gets herself in positions she isn't at all equipped for, endangering herself, her team, and lots of random people apparently, i think in the end she's right actually! The directive of the oiar under Lena actually wasn't sensible at all and might very much have lead to another apocalypse. Bc in TMA, it was never about one of the fears getting strong enough to break into reality, it turned out to be about all of them immanentizing at once - which the former oiar directive would've lead to, with balancing the aspects of dread by adding to them.

However, Gwen is still absolutely stumbling through it all and is bound to cause a huge mess and i love her for that <3
