Today we had a talk on teaching and one thing that stuck with me was when the speaker said that kids see their teachers as ‘school parents’, so if their parents alienate them at home, they may subconsciously seek out their teachers to fulfill some of those needs (like praise, validation etc). If they feel alienated by their teachers as well, then they might turn to the wrong crowds or methods to get those needs met. Like I knew there was a lot of responsibility in teaching but hearing something like that really makes you think!

btw being excessively nonconfrontational is NOT a positive trait. it does not mean u are “too nice” or just too kind to hurt people, it means u have a problem communicating and you need to work on it.

There are people in the notes saying that the alternative reason is that they’re doing it because of trauma and i gotta say that

1) same. I did have this same problem and reason for doing it.

2) this is not actually an alternate reason. You guys also have a problem communicating and while you can trace exactly WHY you have trouble communicating that doesn’t mean it’s okay to treat everyone like they’re potentially your former abuser and that you DO still need to work on this.

full appreciation post for the night circus 🪄 i really took my time finishing this book and it was so worth it! you don’t want to be rushing a book with this many details ☺️ i actually feel like the romance was my least favorite aspect of the book after finishing this reread, which is interesting cause 4-5 years ago i was obsessed with it 🥲 the writing is even better than i remembered, and so atmospheric! the characters are probably my favorite part overall 🤍 i love every single one of them (with marco being my least favorite), and the magic system is quite complex. i don’t think i’ve fully grasped the whole thing yet, even after reading it for the second time. still though, i’m very content on giving it 5/5 stars 🥰 i had such a great time reading this with a new (and much more mature) perspective ✨ https://www.instagram.com/p/CfJbcZUPmIM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Haven’t updated in a while, but I’m still studying hard. My tutor and I spent a couple sessions reviewing the tenses, post-positions, plural and oblique forms, how to form questions, imperative sentences, negations, and other beginner topics. Now I’m learning the subjunctive. He’s very happy with my progress so far and I’m pretty proud of myself, too.

I got this coffee machine for my desk. The thought of having a cappuccino gets me in the studying mood. Don’t judge my foam pouring skills :)

The mess of these notes is the perfect representation of the mess in my head. I still have no clue whether my exam will be online or in presence, I have no idea if I know enough, I just know I cannot stand this anymore. All this talk about probability and induction will make my brain explode. Other than reviewing I didn't do a single thing, I just continued reading The Lair Of The White Worm by B. Stoker, which I am not liking at all. I won't dnf it cause it's pretty short, but I am not into it at all, and my hopes aren't that high.

can you believe that the most human trait there is is art? we didn't start making art because it was needed for our survival or it helped us mate or hunt…. we make art for the sake of making it and for you and other people to enjoy it. this is why I love literature and art museums or just looking through my old sketches and stories…. making art is what it means to be human I think.
