BIG DAY FOR THIS NOEL GIRLIE!!
I didn't think I was ever going to make an idol Noel cosplay, it being such a small dress and imo not being the most interesting design of the mermaid bunch. After plans of cosplaying Tecna fell through, I needed any of my favorite characters to show up, so Noel was an easy choice. Human Noel was ready, but I felt like I needed something more recognisable.
The thing that pushed me over the edge was probably this ita bag I found secondhand, props to a fellow Noel stan! I saw it when it got posted, I saw many other people saving it but it stayed online for months. Was this a sign that I was the true owner to be? Possibly. A lot of the charms/buttons are either official art or from Aliexpress, not sure if any are from smaller artists. The other side has a mix of the other mermaid princesses. I wanted needed this as my accessory of the day.
I think it's quite the challenge to get a screen accurate cosplay, so I decided to make it more high fashion-y using a lot of Pinterest inspo. I feel like I could've taken it a few steps further but procrastination got the best of me and this cosplay is held together by elastics and basting stitches tbh. I have never worn wigs in public and never styled one but I needed that iconic swoop so I spent all day yesterday wrestling this wig, pretty satisfied with the result tbh.
My favorite improvisation was the mic-fan. I wasn't planning on bringing a mic, but that just felt wrong. Since my friends were a bit delayed, I spent those 20 minutes printing a photo of the mic, sticking it onto cardboard and onto the fan. Not the prettiest, but still the most useful prop for this hot day.
I was so happy that the cosplay was recognisable, most of the compliments were from artists in the artist alley! A huge shout-out to @proserpiiart, who saw me and gifted me a Noel button 🥹🥹 Check out their MMPPP stickers on their website or Etsy!!! Wished to have bought more stuff but I was in quite a rush, so I hope to see them again at another con.
Overall, I thought that idol Noel was a one and done cosplay, but I genuinely hope to take her out again at some point! Loved seeing some fellow MMPPP fans recognising her. I only come here every so often to queue up some reblogs, but over time I can see the love I have for my long-term favorite things evolving and be applied in different ways.
