Around this time last year, I had commended Ruth Davidson in her speeches and her talks, and praised her for the relatively far superior manifesto proposed for the election. However, as this past year has shown, having Ruth as the opposition party does not only hurt other parties, but also her own. Throughout the year, the sole political leader that in almost every single debate, discussion and question whom links to a second referendum, ever since the EU-referendum last year, just so happens to be Ruth Davidson - NOT Nicola nor Patrick. This has absolutely destroyed much of her credit. However, the worst comes when she manages to isolate her voters. Ruth has taken upon 3 drastically different ideologies upon the decision of the EU referendum: anti-independence, anti-EU, pro-austerity. Before the EU referendum, Ruth was very much pro-EU, and although was anti-independence, she was unique in the Conservative party and in her manifesto to not want any increase in austerity, although also not wanting to decrease the current level. Thus isolating her voters, forcing them to decide if they want one, they must have them all. Yet every other party, even labour under Kezia, have managed to stick by their views and manifestos. Not only this, but Ruth has proven how immature of a leader she is. Apart from her several inappropriate outburst in Parliament, like just last week where she told Nicola to "Sit Down" when she was having an irrelevant rant on character attack - which isn't allowed in Parliament might I remind you, especially when doing it to avoid answering a question, and telling the other person to essentially shut up when they're about to call them out for the erroneous rhetoric. However, Ruth has also shown the general public what she is like. In a debate regarding the NHS on Question Time, Ruth was called out on her stances and was questioned on the topics. However, under the pressure, and due to a lack either comprehension of the topic, or refusing to admit failure - she lost it. Referring to the other members as the "bloody panel" in a childish strop because she didn't like being called out. During said trantrum, she even tried to change the subject, as to mask, diverting to giving the NHS decision to well-educated people in the field, saying it "should not be in the hands of politicians [to make the decision]". However, this also backfired. One of Ruth's major stances is that no referendum should currently take place. Which funnily enough, not even Nicola, SNP leader, wants a referendum at this moment in time. Although Nicola would like to hold a referendum between the Brexit terms becoming clear and March 29th, in order to give the Scottish people a say over an issue that is far more relevant and under very different circumstances to the outdated 2014 referendum; Ruth cannot even support this. Essentially making a unilateral decision on behalf of Scots as a politician. Thus contradicting her own stances. For those wondering; the reason why the second referendum is not a unilateral decision like Ruth keeps reiterating is because Nicola was elected on a manifesto to do exactly that. She has the support of the Scottish people to follow through with her manifesto. Whilst, she also tried to compromise with Theresa and Westminster [to no avail] so that she could respect the 2014 and 2016 referendum. And just like from 1975 to 2016, a lot has changed for Scotland since 2014. So for Nicola to say no to a referendum altogether would not only be undemocratic and going against her manifesto, but would be going against what possibly the majority of Scots want by deciding for them. Thus, making it a unilateral decision. So between her inappropriate outburst, going against her manifesto simply to oppose SNP-backed matters, throwing her supporters under the bus to appease Westminster, and wanting to make an undemocratic decision which she herself is against; it's very clear she lacks the capability nor comprehension to run her own party and will go to any length to stay with Westminster against the SNP.
