On October 4th, 1986, there was an explosion on the island of Rokkenjima. When the seagulls cried, some were left alive.

A semi-fixit fic, where all the parents die along with Gohda and Nanjo, but everyone else gets to start working towards a happy-ish ending.

Pecker Manga English Fan Translation

For Neji's birthday, a few of us from the Univeil Manga Club decided to put together a translation of Sui Ishida's bonus short, Pecker (short for 'woodpecker'). It's only 16 pages long, but it still gives us a fascinating look into the dynamic between Neji and Chui. (Imgur || Mangadex)

It picks up directly where Puppet and Parsley left off (at the end of the Year 77 summer performance). Unlike the other one-shots though, this one does require either reading the previous manga or playing at least the game's common route to make much sense. It assumes you are already familiar with these characters and their history. There aren't any route spoilers, but Neji's route does add more context. Pecker also acts as a setup for the upcoming Roots/Perch manga about Neji's class transfer.

Parsley Manga English Fan Translation

In honour of Sugachi’s (delayed) birthday, the Univeil Manga Club presents the long-awaited English fan translation of Sui Ishida’s manga one-shot, Parsley! (Cubari || Mangadex)

Focusing on the Onyx class in the Jack Jeanne universe, Kiyoharu Sugachi struggles with self-doubt, calling himself just a ‘garnish’ in comparison to the other incredible performers at Univeil. But he’s forced to face these insecurities head-on when chosen by the class leader, Dakeshin Kaido, to take the leading female role as the Al Jeanne. The story shows the beginning of Sugachi and Kaido’s partnership, one year before the first game.

As this is a prequel story, there are no spoilers for any game routes. While the game provides more context for certain characters (such as Fumi), the translation was written to make it understandable to a general audience with no prior knowledge. Dialect features were also added to Sugachi’s speech to try to distinguish his heavy Kansai dialect.

I would also highly recommend checking out the fully voice acted video which goes through the entire story panel by panel.

I'm going through the Media Studies course Media and Power, one exercise said to crop a group photo to see how this can change the vibe, but I thought it would be more interesting to do it to this Jack Jeanne fantasy AU I drew. I tried to find crops that gave each character a different vibe, with mixed success.

I drew a little on Nigerian women's fashion for this outfit. The peplum+ mermaid skirt + ruffles look I saw a lot would also be a great way to show off fancy fabric without accidentally flashing anyone on a low G dance floor.

Art Prompts For Visibly Fat or Muscular Humanoid Characters

I struggle every time I have to draw a character who can't be approximated by a series of smooth cylinders, so thought I'd ask for some prompts to help me practice!

So! Please give me art prompts for visibly fat or muscular humanoid characters, preferably in a relatively realistic style (anime is ok but not like Johnny Bravo)

No more than 3 characters, nothing that requires a background or complex/many props. Give me an image reference if it's not something I can look up easily. Picking a pose from the references below or sending me your own would make my life easier!

Fanart or original, including stuff like "This character but fat" or "A man in this pose and this outfit", but not vague things like "Any character in a victorian outfit". Nothing too sexy, squicky, or containing zombies(*).

Anyone who follows me is welcome to prompt!

(*) I only have a problem with the mindless contagious sort, or really gross decay. Possessed/controlled corpses are fine but no skeletons for this prompt ;)
