September 12th, 2017: The Onaka (大仲) jikata shikomi in Gion Kobu is officially a minarai! Her geimei is Danmitsu (だん満) and her misedashi will be after Onshukai. Weekend Update 15/10
This week has been quite a busy week! Karyukai News -Fumine (文音) of Okatome (岡とめ) in Gion Higashi had her misedashi on Wednesday (October 11th). -Tomichie (富千英) of Tomikiku (富菊) in Gion Higashi and Danmitsu (だん満) of Hiroshimaya (廣島屋) in Gion Kobu will both be having their misedashi on Tuesday (October 17th)! -Mikako (実佳子) of Nishimura (西村) in Gion Kobu is currently wearing sakkō! Her erikae will be on October 24th! Blog News -What’s In a Dance? Part 2 looked at Kyō No Shiki (京の四季) - The Four Seasons of Kyoto. -You may have noticed that there’s a nifty new tab at the top of the page called Dances. So far it’s mostly just a listing of dances performed in the karyukai and their English translations. -The Random Fact of The Week looked at Hanao. -Mylo’s Pick of The Week went to Ayaha (あや葉) of Katsumi (勝見) in Pontocho. -Thank you for sending in so many questions again this week! We’re quickly approaching the beginning of the second busiest season for the karyukai, and with that comes news! Karyukai News -Ryōma (涼真) of Sakaemasa (栄政) in Gion Higashi will be having her misedashi on Wednesday (September 20th). -The Onaka (大仲) jikata shikomi is now a minarai! Her geimei is Danmitsu (だん満) and her misedashi will be after Onshūkai. -Umekana (梅叶菜) of Umeno (梅乃) in Kamishichiken has officially been confirmed as having retired from the profession. Blog News -What’s In a Name? Part 18 looked at Tsuki (月), Teru (照), and Teru/Mitsu/Kō (光). -The Random Fact of The Week focused on kanzashi materials. -Mylo’s Pick of The Week went to Katsune (勝音) of Daimonji (大文字) in Kamishichiken. -I’ve begun to actively use my Patreon again, with two tiers of support available and fun rewards to go with them.
