Merthur / Waiting Room - Phoebe Bridgers
Arthur's Bane Foreshadowing
In the season 5 opener 'Arthur's Bane', this image (from the scene immediately after Merlin is shown the prophecy of Arthur's death) is particularly striking:
Foreshadowing...?
In the 'Arthur's Bane' image, Arthur is holding his sword as though lying in state (hard to see in the dark), and even though he doesn't have Excalibur in 'Diamond Of The Day' since Merlin had already thrown it into the lake, it's very similar to this:
Along with the constant 'death drum' on the soundtrack throughout season 5, this is almost certainly intentional, pointing purposefully to the fateful ending.
In the same scene from 'Arthur's Bane', Merlin is lying right beside Arthur and looks over at him before calling the dragon, as though he's seeing the future:
And to finish off, doesn't this wider shot seem to prefigure Camlann and the 'sleeping knights' of legend, with Arthur in repose with his sword, and all the knights' swords looking somewhat like grave markers, with only Merlin keeping vigil...
Or perhaps a foreshadowing of the battle to come...?
Sir Leon, sleeping to Arthur's right in 'Arthur's Bane', survived Camlann, and his sword is conspicuously absent in the ground beside him. Arthur's life (and death) was foretold, and the signs were always there no matter what Merlin did to try and prevent it.
My father made a mold and forced me into it. It was a bad casting.

I will be keeping my eyes peeled 🫡
Well, Tumblr friends, it’s here. It’s done. And it’s over 100 pages. A complete (or as complete as I could make it) BBC Merlin coloring book that attempts to tell the story of our beloved show from start to finish, with special focus on the core four: Merlin, Arthur, Gwen, and Morgana.
Each season boasts 16-18 pages, with two-page spreads between each season. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I have grown so much as an artist from working on this project. I’ve refined my skills and style, and I can almost trace that journey through the pages now that they’re all together. And honestly I couldn’t be more proud of myself for persevering and finishing the whole thing. I have no idea how many hours have gone into this, or even just the choices and planning alone. It took a year and I’m really proud of it.
These are free to use however you’d like, as long as you don’t steal credit/reproduce for profit/etc. You know the drill. Don’t be a jerk and rip off my art. And also please don’t use it to fuel AI!
Sized at 8.5 in x 11 in, recommend testing your desired medium before printing! Some folks use watercolor paper, others just standard printer paper - depends on what you’re coloring with!
I have made a physical copy, but I will say it is pricey, especially in small quantities. It’s really down to interest. If you really want one, let me know and I can try to do a small batch run!
But that’s why I made it available in its entirety here - please feel free to print and bind on your own if you wish. And if you do, for the love of all that’s holy, TAG ME so I can sing your praises!!!

As for what’s next…
My box is open for suggestions and ideas, so feel free to get in there and I'll see what I can do! I’m happy to give commissions a go, maybe try my hand at some fanfic scenes or something! I’d love to make custom coloring pages. I’ve also started a re-draw of Merlin’s spellbook! Also considering other fandom books now that I’ve done my passion project here lol. Idk!

ENDEAVOUR 9x3 — EXEUNT
ENDEAVOUR 5x3 — PASSENGER
I love everything about this. Absolute taxonomy of masculinity in the show.
Fancy - tries to stop Box, barely registers, chucked out of frame
Endeavour - hurls himself blindly at Box, achieves nothing, ends up underneath him on desk slightly with a leg round his waist (???), seconds from being murdered
Jim Strange - looks perturbed but not overmuch, gently hustles Trewlove to safety, like the man who’ll one day marry Joanie
Fred Thursday - uses one (1) hand to haul Box off Endeavour even though Box is five hundred years younger and taller, then shoves Box against the wall and appears to Dangle him. Menacing. The Only Man
Omg Bradly James dressed up as Billy Idol that's fucking amazing
